When Gin died in Rangiku's arms, he expected many places to end up...

...Hell...

...Spirit King's palace to be judged...

...perhaps returning to Hueco Mundo and become a hollow himself...

...Or even ceased to exist.

What he did not expect was showing up in some nursery room in which there was a fight between some snake-face guy who looked like they have seen better days and a redhead woman who was standing protectively in front of a crib which was holding a sleeping baby boy. He wonders if they can see him...

"Step aside mudblood, and you shall be spared."

"I won't let you kill my son!"

...never mind. It looks like he is currently a soul.

Gin watched as snake-face man raised a, of all the things to be holding, a stick and witness as some kind of green Kidō(?) came out of it. It sailed over the room and smack dab onto the redhead.

Then things exploded. Given that he isn't directly affected by the physical plane unless something spiritually-charged hits him, Gin was unaffected and witness the whole thing. Snake-man screamed as he disintegrated into black smoke, leaving behind his cloak and stick. The redhead then dropped dead. The baby behind her started crying as something hit it on the head, leaving behind a lightning bolt-shaped scar.

What a weird day it has been, and he's hasn't been here for even 5 minutes.

After a while, some guy with the greasiest hair he has ever seen ran into the room and cried over the redhead's dead body. He then disappeared (literally) as some shaggy hair man ran in and shouted something about 'not Lily too!', mentioned something about killing a rat, picked up the baby and ran out.

"This day has become even weirder than usual," muttered Gin after getting his shock over. Looking around the destroyed room, he notices a lack of Japanese decorations. "I don't think we're in Japan anymore."

"You think?!" shouted a voice behind him. Gin turned and saw the same redhead standing over her dead body. The only difference is that there was a chain connected from the body to her chest. "You're in London!"

"Why hello there Ms.! How was death?" joked Gin. He was responded with a glare that promised pain. "I'm taking 'not good', am I right?"

The redhead's glare softened. "No, it was surprisingly painless." She shook her head. "Anyways, who are you?"

Gin debated on whether or not he should tell her. It took him 2 seconds to decide. "Name's Gin Ichimaru, former Captain for the Shinigami's 3rd division. In case you're wondering what that means, I'm a soul reaper." All he got was a blank stare. "I send your soul to either Soul Society or Hell."

"You're Death?!" shouted the redhead. Gin tsked. That sounded like a title an edgy shinigami would name themselves. "Does that mean you'll send James and me to the other side?"

"No idea who James is but yeah, I guess?" he shrugged. "Out of curiosity, what happened here?" And so, the redhead explained everything. There were a lot of details, but Gin narrowed it to the important stuff.

The redhead's name is Lily Potter neé Evans. She's a witch. Magic exists. There was a war involving social class and magic. Magic exists. Her husband's name was James Potter and he's most likely dead downstairs. Snake guy was Dark Lord Voldemort (pfft). Magic exists. The greasy guy was her former friend Severus Snape. Terrorists were Death munchies. Magic exists. Shaggy hair guy was James' best friend Sirius Black and her son named Harry Potter.

Did he also mention that magic exists?

Just as Lily finished explaining, a ghostly wail can be heard downstairs. Lily stiffened when she heard it. It was the most terrifying sound she ever heard, and she lived through Petunia complaining during their childhood, and that's saying something. Gin, however, sighed. Great, a hollow was nearby. And given how it was heard from downstairs, it was inside the house. Come to think of it, didn't Lily say her husband was downstairs, not to mention dead as well?

"Let me handle this," said Gin as exited out the room, Lily following after him. The duo went down to the living room, where they met a sight. Standing before them was your average hollow. Big, monstrous, skull mask over its head. Not to mention it was currently consuming a soul, which Gin noted was a dead man. He concluded that this must be James. Poor bastard. He hasn't been dead for an hour and has already been consumed by a hollow. He wonders how Lily would feel knowing that her husband will not show up to Soul Society. Given the scream coming out of her mouth, she probably wouldn't take it too well.

Fortunately for Lily's not-really well being, this was a basic hollow, so Gin took it out in one measly slash. A quick Konsō and whatever soul were that hollow moved on. Gin turned to Lily. She was still screaming. His response? A quick slap to the face. "Ya done?"

Lily didn't answer. The slap knocked her unconscious.

As Gin ponder the ramifications of slapping people, he heard some sort of conversation outside. Peeking out a window, he saw a group that consists of an old bearded man with poor fashion sense, an elderly woman whose stern facial expression could rival Captain-Commander Yamamoto, a giant man who could rival Komamura in terms of size, and that Sirius guy Lily told him about. "This seems important."

When Lily came to consciousness, Gin was hovering over her. "Hey, quick question. Where was your son suppose to go with since you are dead?" He was responded with a punch to the face. "Ow!"

"That was for that slap, you bastard," yelled Lily. "As for what you were asking, Harry was supposed to go with Sirius."

"Yeah about that," drawled out Gin. "That Sirius guy handed your kid over to some old man with no fashion sense. Left to track down some Pettigrew guy. The old guy mentioned something about having Harry living with someone call Dursley."

A pause. Gin prepared for the fallout. "Wait, an old man with no fashion sense? Dursley? DUMBLEDORE IS SENDING MY BABY TO THAT BITCH-OF-A-SISTER PETUNIA AND HER WHALE OF A HUSBAND VERNON?!"

Gin winced as he stuck his fingers in his ears. Damn, this lady can scream. "Yup, seems about right. I'mma guess you're not in good graces with your sister?"

"You're damn right I'm not! When I left for Hogwarts she said she hopes I burn at a stake! When James and I married, she told me she hoped James dumps me for being a whore! When I got pregnant, she said she hopes I die from labor and that Harry is stillborn! Any hope of reconnecting with her died when she said that!"

"Wow, that sister of yours has issues," Gin shooked his head. And he thought Nnoitra had problems. "If you want I can get rid of her and her husband. Free of charge!"

Lily blinked. "I don't know what's more horrifying. The fact that you're casually mentioning murder, or that fact that I'm considering it."

He shrugged. "Meh, everyone has a murder bone in their body. We just have a different way of expressing it." He faced the redhead. "So what will you do?"

"Get me to the Dursley's!"

"No."

"WHY!?"

"I have my reasons," was all Gin said. Lily simply glared. "Okay, I'll explain. See that chain coming out of your chest that holds no chance against Ran-chan's? If you noticed earlier, it was connected to your dead body. If it gets severe, your soul corrupts and you'll become a hollow. You know, the one that ate your husband? If that happens, I'll have to kill you. Don't worry, a quick Konsō and you'll be in Soul Society. Your husband, however, won't join you since he got eaten. Sad, but them's the rules."

"Oh," slumped Lily. She didn't expect that, nor the fact that she won't see her husband again. "Can you do something for me?"

"I've got nothing to do but sure."

"Go find Harry and take care of him."

"Fine."

"Wait, really?"

"As I said before, I've got nothing to do and just escape death, pun intended. Might as well enjoy this new life to the fullest. The problem is I'm currently a soul and do not possess a Gigai, fake body. You don't suppose some wizard out there has something similar?"

"Try Ollivander's wand shop, over at Diagon Alley. You have to go through Tom's leaky Cauldron to get there. The owner seems to know things others don't know."

"And where is that? Not to mention where the hell the Dursley's are at?" After being told where the locations are at through vague instructions, Gin raised his Zanpakutō. "Alright, I'll take care of Harry. Now off to Soul Society with ya. Try not to die again." He Konsō Lily and watched as she disappeared in a light. With that, Gin turned to leave. "Now, to find Diagon Alley. I wonder if anyone's having a weird day as I am?"

"This has been a weird day."

That was spoken from one Rangiku Matsumoto, the voluptuous Lieutenant of 10th Division. A woman known for many things...

...a very sexy lady... (Many men of Seireitei)

...a drunkard...(those unfortunate enough to drink against her)

...a lazy self-centered lieutenant who won't stop prying into other peoples' business...(Hitsugaya)

...and many others.

"I didn't expect to be a mother like this..."

Mother is not one of them.

Some backstory to put some sense here...

There were reports of hollows somehow migrating out of Japan. Many Shinigami have been shipped out to take care of them. Matsumoto was selected for London, mainly because there was only one, despite her captain arguing she shouldn't go because she was using this as an excuse to get out of paperwork. Arriving in her Gigai, the lieutenant discovered someone had already taken care of the hollow. Assuming someone went ahead and took care of her job, Matsumoto prepared a Senkaimon to go back home.

Then she heard crying.

For some reason, near her, there was a dead couple on the ground. A man and a woman. No visible wounds on them. Their facial expression was one of horror. In the woman's arms was a cloth bundle, which contained a living baby girl. She couldn't be no less than one. This begs the question: why was there a dead couple on the ground, and how was the girl alive?

The couple's spirits were there. After getting over how Matsumoto can see them (and the fact that her chest is actually that big), the father explains how some nutjob in a black cloak killed them with some kind of magic stick. A green spell of some sort. By some miracle, their daughter didn't get hit. That was there only upside about the situation. Their daughter is still alive. After she Konsō the couple, Matsumoto debated on the baby girl. She could have left her at some orphanage but she didn't know London that very well. Leaving the girl alone was also a bad idea, not knowing if that nutjob would come back and finish the job. She then came up with a very, very stupid idea.

She took the girl with her and went home.

And here we are...

As Matsumoto walked toward the 10th Division barracks, she looked at the sleeping girl in her arms. If she was being honest with herself, she felt this was going way over her head. Taking care of a child? She didn't know a single about them. The closest thing to a child she knows was Hitsugaya and that one Arrancar girl who joined with Ichigo, Nel. But even then her captain was too mature for someone his age, and Nel was technically an adult in a child's body according to Ichigo. The only reason she took the kid was that she was reminded of her younger days. Back when she didn't have anyone. Back when she had to support herself with no help. No help except for...

Gin

Just hearing that name brought a pang to her heart. When they were younger, Gin had promised to protect her at all costs. Even betraying Soul Society and joining Aizen just for her sake. When he died trying to kill the former 5th captain, Matsumoto realized that all this time Gin was still looking out for her. She was the only one who knew Gin's real goal.

Sometimes she wishes Gin survived just so they can still be together, even if he had to be imprisoned for his crimes.

Matsumoto had arrived at the 10th Division barracks. Upon entering, she was greeted by a scowling Hitsugaya. "Lieutenant Matsumoto! Care to explain why you disregard my order on doing your paperwork!"

She was already thinking up an excuse. "I was feeling a little light-headed from drinking with the guys last night, and I feel like doing paperwork wouldn't do me good. I took the hollow assignment so I can clear my head. Wasn't that good for me?"

Her captain didn't buy that. "You're always drunk, and you literally took the assignment in London just to get out of your responsibilities! Did you even do your assignment?"

"Um, the hollow was already taken care of when I got there. Someone else got to it first."

"Why am I not surprised. Let me guess, you went out for a little sightseeing? Brought anything that can cause you to shirk your responsibilities more than usual? Speaking of which, what is that you're carrying?"

"Something that will change my life." Matsumoto raised the cloth bundle carrying the baby and showed her to her captain. "Meet my new daughter!"

Hitsugaya froze when he heard those words. Drunk, lazy, irresponsible Matsumoto becoming a mother?! How the hell did his lieutenant get a daughter? She wasn't even pregnant when she left! Did Aizen won and put him in some kind of illusion? "Daughter!? Did you steal a random baby girl!?"

"Actually, there's a story for this," Matsumoto explained to Hitsugaya of the events that lead to it. "After some debate on whether or not I should leave her at the orphanage or whatnot, I decide to raise her myself!"

"Someone killing with some sort of magic stick, green spell?" pondered her captain. "I don't recall those from the land of the living being able to do that. But then again if I remember correctly, Ichigo's friends Sado and Orihime had unique powers as well. It may be possible that someone is performing Kidō in the living world and committing murders. I may need to speak with Yamamoto about this. As for the child, even though I believe this is a bad idea, it is not up to me to decide whether you should take care of her. It is up to you to decide. Are you sure you want to-"

"Still taking care of her!"

"I was afraid you would say that. Speaking of the child, does she even have a name?"

Matsumoto opened her mouth, then closed it. She didn't know the child's name! "Oh god! I forgot to ask about that! Here, hold her while I think of a name. Maybe I can name her after Haineko..."

As Matsumoto thought of a name, Hitsugaya took a closer look at the child. He noticed something on the cloth bundle. "There's something stitched here. It says, Hermione. I believe that is her name."

"Really? That makes my job easier! From now on her name is Hermione Haineko Matsumoto."

Hitsugaya blinked. "Why is your Zanpakutō's name part of her name?"

Matsumoto shrugged. "I could have named her after you..."

"Haineko is fine."

Matsumoto was about to retort to that but stopped. "Hold on, I need to take this." She pulled out Haineko spoke to it. "What are you complaining about! I name her after you! I could have just given her my name and be done with that!"

As his lieutenant argues with her Zanpakutō, Hitsugaya looked at Hermione. "Your mother is one of the laziest shinigami to take care of you. You have my sympathy."

It took Gin for nearly 2 hours but he manages to find Diagon Alley. The first hour was finding the Leaky Cauldron. The other was figuring out where the entrance was. It wasn't until he saw someone literally going through a magic wall that he found it. After following another person who was entering, Gin looked around. If he had to describe Diagon Alley, it was...

"So old-fashion," he muttered. How was it that a place with magical abilities can be so backward. It felt like he went back in time to the Victorian age. "Then again, Soul Society ain't that different, but at least we have some technology. Now where the heck is Ollivander's?"

"Right over here, kid."

Gin turned to the side and saw an old man wearing an old fashion suit. He was standing in front of a shop with a sign that says Ollivander's wand shop. "Huh, convenient. Hey, wait a minute! You can see me!"

"Garrick Ollivander, at your service," the old man introduced himself. He gestures to his shop. "Come inside and I shall explain, Mister Shinigami."

Gin froze when he heard that. How did this man know what he was? He needed answers. He followed Olliavander into the shop. "Alright, how did you know what I was?"

Instead of answering, Ollivander simply smiles. "You're not the only one." Seeing the confusion on Gin's face, he elaborated. "Maybe this will help. Take a look at my wand. What do you notice about it?"

Gin looked at Ollivander's hand, which contained a stick, or wand as the old man calls it. "It's just a stick. Nothing special."

The smile on Ollivander's face was now a bit more pronounced. "Oh, you shouldn't have called her that."

Gin was about to ask what the old man was talking about until he felt something wet on his face. Wiping it with his hand, he noticed that it was...

Blood?

It was then he realized that he has been attacked. Gin pulled out Shinsō, only to block an incoming strike from Ollivander. Gin's eyes widen when noticed the wandmaker's hand. The wand is still there, but there is now a glowing white silhouette of a claymore sword surrounding it. What was more shocking was that the silhouette was made entirely out of Reiryoku. "Wait, how are you doing this!?"

Ollivander just continued to smile. "Fusura, Magus (Casting Sorceror). The beautiful partner of my life. Someone that got me out of trouble more times than you can count. Surprise? She's a little angry right now. Magus hates it when someone underestimates her simply because of appearance. Before you ask any more questions, answer me this." He pushed Magus a little harder against Shinsō. "What's a former captain and Aizen's right-hand man doing in London?"

Lily was right about this guy. He knows things. It freaked Gin out. "How did you know about that?!"

"I have a friend in Japan. Now answer, please."

Damn, looks like he needs to come clean. "Alright, I'll explain. I joined Aizen to keep an eye on him so I can protect a friend of mine. I had to betray to make it look real. I backstabbed him in the end, but Aizen survived and killed me. Or at least I think he did. That's all I know!"

After a few tense seconds, Ollivander backed off. "You're telling the truth. I can tell by your posture."

Gin wasn't done. "Hold on, I want answers! Why do you have a Zanpakutō? I can tell you are not a soul!"

"Who says I wasn't," mused Ollivander. He pointed at himself. "Special Gigai. It allows me to use my abilities without going into soul form. And before you ask, yes I am one, though I am the only shinigami in London. Been taking care of hollows since before the time of Arthur."

That answers everything. "I have a question." Except one more. "How long was I gone for?"

"Given how long since my friend told me about the war against Aizen, it has been a year." This shocked Gin. He has been dead for a year? How much did everything change since then? "Now we got the unpleasantries out of the way, what business you have with me?"

Gin gathered his thoughts. "Since you confirm it for me, I need a Gigai. I kind of promise this lady I'll take care of her kid. Kinda need it to save him from his aunt and uncle. I'm going to take advantage of this new life of mine."

"A Gigai?" wondered Ollivander. "To who did you promise?"

"Someone name Lily Potter."

"Oh," muttered the wandmaker. "That means she has passed and had fallen against Voldemort. At least he has been defeated." He shook his head. "I can provide you with a Gigai. I'll even provide you the special one. Is that all?"

"Have anything that can send me to Japan, more specifically Karakura town? I don't know my way around here and I rather take care of the kid at somewhere I know, even if it means I'm near former enemies. I've doubt any of them knows I'm still alive."

"Risky, but I can provide a portkey for that. It's a magical item that transports you to places," explained Ollivander, seeing the confusion on Gin's face. "Step right into my lab as I grab my materials. This might take a while." Gin nodded as he walked toward the room Ollivander spoke of. As soon as he left, the wandmaker pulled out a mirror. Channeling his Reiatsu into it, he waited until a figure appeared in the mirror. "Ah, it has been a while, hasn't it?"

"Ollivander, it's been years! How's the wand business?"

"Everything's the same. The dark lord has been defeated, though that's not what I called you for."

"Oh, then please, tell me."

"Are you familiar with Gin Ichimaru?"

"Disgraced 3rd Division Captain who joined Aizen. Was later killed by him after backstabbing him. Any reason for bringing him up?"

"He's alive, and currently in my shop looking for a Gigai."

"Seeing you're not looking distressed, something tells me there's something more to this. Did you scare him with Magus?"

"You know me too well. Care to learn why he's alive and why he's here?"

"Certainly. The usual payment?"

"The usual payment."

"Thank you, Gerrick Ollivander."

"You're welcome, Kisuke Urahara."

A/N: After years without active service, I am back. To be honest, I nearly lost my way of writing stories. I kept this account simply to comment on others. With my schedule between school and work, I don't even have time to write for Fanfiction to the point that I gave up on it. However, things change. I got this idea and I thought I should try to write it. I didn't want to because I was afraid I would give up on it. But I decided to go for it.

Perhaps some backstory for why I'm writing this. I was inspired when I read this fic where Harry was raised by the Kurosaki's. Then I remember some crossover fics where Harry was sent to Azkaban in book 5 AUs and he becomes Ulquiorra. Then I remember a Naruto/Bleach fic where Gin raises Naruto, in a Gin troll-like style parenting skills. That's when I then thought, "Hey, why not a Gin raises Harry fic? Might as well go for it. And while we're at it, let's give him a Zanpakutō to change it up a bit."

As for the Matsumoto raising Hermione thing, well I needed something to up the storyline. It was a random thing I thought of.

For those wondering when it takes place, the Potterverse is set to when the Winter War in the Bleach anime was over. So somewhere around the 2010s. The wizarding world is still the same, though.

Due to the constant strain in my schedule, expect slow updates. I can't make promises for constant updates. I'll try to finish this story as much as possible.
