For years of watching mermaids and pirates of the caribbean movies, and also Aquaman movie, it inspired me to believe if Poseidon saved Atlanteons by turning them into merpeople from drowning from the tsunami swallowing up Atlantis. Or the power of the seas caused the tsumani to be awaken and sank the city to the bottom of the ocean.

Thousands of years ago, Pirates always go on adventures in search for treasures on islands and the seas. That day, a pirate heard of a special treasure from Atlantis, Poseidon's trident. One person that holds the trident commands the seven seas.

He and his crew sailed to Atlantis to claim the treasure but what they don't know is that if anyone steals the trident will anger the god of seas.

He tried to claim it but a terrible fate caused an earthquake that awaken a ferocious tsunami heading to Atlantis.

The people of Atlantis begged and prayed for Poseidon to save Atlanteans to not go extinct. But their god of seas found a way for them to live, he turned the people of Atlantis into merpeople, giving them to breathe underwater.

As the tsunami swallowed the city and the pirates drowned, the king of Atlantis hid the trident under the ocean where no man would ever try to claim it until only one truly good person can wield it.

(Sonic's POV)

I'm Sonic the Hedgehog sailing my ship named Blue Wind. It belonged to my Great-Great Grandfather Ronic the Hedgehog. My ancestor was a legend and everyone knows the story of how he sailed the seven seas and how he and his ship survived the storms and raging waves.

I may be a pirate like my family but I'm also an ichthyologist.

My crew are Shadow the Hedgehog, Silver the Hedgehog, and my youngest pal Tails the Fox.

Right now, we were observing some whales at sea.

"There she is. Taking a breather at the surface, guys. Isn't she a beauty?" I said.

Usually I don't talk like pirates because over the years, pirate traditions have changed.

"She sure is, bro" Tails said.

"Dolphins mate! Your little friend Sonar is calling you, captain!" Silver said.

I looked down to see my favorite dolphin pal that saved me from a shark attack years ago, "Sonar, buddy! How you doing?"

Sonar clicked as if saying 'I'm doing great'.

I gave him a thumbs up, "I thought so buddy"

I saw land and the seagulls flying towards there, "Land-ho! I got some yummy fish for you and your friends, buddy!"

Sonar splashed up in happiness as I threw some fish to him and his fellow dolphins.

"Lead to land, Silver!" I said.

"Aye aye captain!" Silver steers the ship to shore.

I just love salty air and the wind blowing in my face. I love the ocean and I love sailing my ancestor's ship.

We made it on shore and parked my ship near the docks. Blue Wind needs her beauty sleep and I love how strong she is to be alive for over a century.

Sonar popped out near the docks that he wants more fish, "Okay, boy. A promise is a promise" I fed him fish.

He caught it and waved good bye with his tail fluke.

"So what are we doing here captain?" Shadow asked.

"Nothing, just taking a breather. Blue Wind needs her beauty rest and I need some studying on fish. And of course, my sister Sonia is busy with fashion like always and my brother Manic is too busy with music and band. So, you guys do whatever you like to do on land" I said, shaking the salt water off my fur and quills.

"Okay then. I'll just go to my house" Shadow leaves us, Silver did the same and Tails too.

I head to my place where my parents and of course, my crazy delusional but kind grandfather lives at.

I knocked on the door and there stood my father, "Hello son. Been out on adventures again?"

"Yes father. And nobody got seasick all day" I said así went in and hanged my pirate hat on the hangars.

"A-hoy grandson! Seen any mermaids in the sea?" My grandfather asked.

Always the same thing for years and I just pretend that I saw one so that he can shut up. Obviously, I don't believe in fairytales.

"Yes, grandpa. I saw one. It just disappeared" I sighed in annoyance and went upstairs to my old room.

I wish I can live in the ocean than just be a pirate like my ancestors. It would be neat exploring the life no one has ever seen, new species and such. Somewhere that I can be like dolphins or stingrays migrating in the ocean, exploring everything. But we all know that we can't breathe underwater like fish. I picked my scope I got for birthday present and looked into it at the horizon.

"Young pirate, I know how my grandpa used to love the ocean like you. He was a legend, matey. Maybe someday you'll be just like him sailing the seven seas with Blue Wind" My grandpa walking in my room with his cane.

"That's nice grandpa but I'm an ichthyologist and mostly an oceanography. Someday I might retire being captain of Blue Wind" I said, putting my scope away.

"Matey, there's more to life being a pirate. They explore treasures across the seas. My grandpa believes there's a trident of Poseidon lost at sea to where the lost city of Atlantis is at" Grandpa said.

"That's just a fairytale, grandpa. Some believe that the tsunami sank the city to the bottom of the ocean and no survivors" I said.

"Very likely but possible. There are a lot of things we mobians never know exist" Grandpa said.

"Like what? Hiding the truth for centuries so that no one finds out the real true story? Grandpa, I've seen movies and stories that have inspiration of the lost city of Atlantis and mermaids. They're just not real in real life. I just see real aquatic creatures in the ocean and not a single mermaid in sight" I said, slumping down on my bed.

"Young matey, sometimes a pirate explores everything across the seas and live to tell the tale. Inspirations can lead young mateys like you to believe the tale is true" Grandpa said.

"But have you seen Atlantis or a mermaid when you were young?" I asked.

"No, but when I was diving one day and found what appeared to be a crown of an origin I never saw before. It was not of Greek or Roman origin; it had some interesting pattern on it like waves" Grandpa said.

"Was it really real in your own eyes, grandpa?" I asked.

"It looked very real. But it was not enough to prove the sunken city exist" He said sadly.

"Hmmm...how far is the sunken city in the Atlantic Ocean?" I asked curiously.

"That's what I'm not certain of. If it's believed to be in the middle of Atlantic sea, where the equator is. Well Plato stated it is in Atlantic sea" Grandpa said.

I thought of going there by tomorrow morning with my crew and check it out. I always carry my diving equipment to breathe underwater. If my grandpa believes there are mermaids or the sunken city, I just hope he's wrong and it's just a fairytale.

"Very well, grandpa. If it does exist, I believe you. But if it doesn't, then you'll hear me say I told you so. Tomorrow morning I'll check it out with my crew" I said.

"Then the bet is on" Grandpa grins slyly.

"Whatever you say, grandpa" I rolled my eyes with a smirk.

(Amy's POV)

I'm Amy the little merhog princess swimming as always in the ocean. I'm always a headstrong girl that loves exploring the sunken ships and studying their culture things in them. Sometimes I always wanna get a closer look at a surface dweller that lives on land. But my mother warns me that surface dwellers are savage and brutal beings that dumps toxins in the ocean and poisoning the creatures.

But is everyone at the surface that way? I've seen some release dolphins from nets.

I swam back home where it hides behind the old ancient city of Atlantis. My people know the story about pirates trying to claim Poseidon's trident. I lived in one of the highest towers in the palace, enough to have a view of it all.

For centuries we have been hiding from the world. There hasn't been a single surface dweller exploring the sunken city. Some believe it's just a myth. But we are real.

"I'm all alone today again" I gave a sad sigh, looking at my pet sea turtle, "Well not without you of course Shelly" I said to my turtle.

Shelly looks up and swims up to me, I fed her with some seagrass, "Good girl"

"Amelia, I know you want to explore the surface but your father told you to stay away from surface dwellers" My mom swam up to me.

"I know, mother. Dad is not alive today and I have the freedom to explore. I'm not a helpless child anymore" I said.

"It's for your own good Amy" Mom said.

"But I've barely been outside this kingdom for years" I complained, "It just bores me so badly that I wanna explore more. Mom, someday I might move on with my life than be hidden forever" I sighed.

"We don't even know how much the world has changed. Those ships that leaks oil need to be away from the seas or the polluters destroying the reefs" Mom said.

"It can't get worse than that, mom. All of us that lives in the ocean pee and poop everywhere. Sorry to say that but it's the same thing with surface dwellers dumping garbage in the ocean. But look at today, the creatures are still living" I said.

"Yes. I'm just glad that Poseidon let us people live" Mom said.

"Look, I'm just going out for a swim. I won't be gone for long" I swam out.

"It's nearly sunset, darling. Just don't get eaten by sharks" Mom said.

"I won't mom" I said before going out in the reef.

Sharks can't harm me because I have an amazing voice to vocalize like a siren to attract sea creatures. The fishes were swimming around me and so were a few other sea creatures.

I giggled at how the like a merhog with beauty and an amazing singing voice. But deep down I feel alone. I needed a person to have a friend but those merhog boys aren't for me. I need a true guy that shares the same interest as I do. Someone that loves the ocean as I do.

I swam up near the land that was far away from where I live. The sky is nearly night time and I don't wanna make my mother worry about me. I see someone blue at the docks talking to a dolphin. Strange. I swam quietly underneath the docs to hear him.

"Tomorrow morning is another adventure, boy. A pirate and his crew discovering the lost city of Atlantis. And if it doesn't exist, I just tell my crazy old grandpa that there's nothing" The blue guy talking to the dolphin.

He's a pirate, huh? He doesn't sound like one. Don't they talk with 'argh' sounds or something? And he speaks with dolphins as well. Way too unusual for a pirate.

"What do you think, bud? My grandpa has been going crazy with this mermaid nonsense. Do you think they exist or what?" He asked the dolphin.

The dolphin just gives a shrug as if saying maybe.

"Heh, I'll believe it when I see it. Anyways, tomorrow is a big day, Sonar. I'll be resting in my ship for the night, I hate to see her so lonely without her captain. Good night, bud" The blue guy goes up to his ship and the dolphin swam back down to leave.

I better get back before anyone sees me. If that handsome looking pirate is out to discover my people or the sunken city, I just hope he doesn't believe it's real. It would endanger my people.
