#Ch.1 "Ungracefully Confused"#

The passing maids and butlers went about with their daily routine until it was broken by a screeching wail that echoed through the hallways.

They tried to ignore it but the cries got louder, much to the point where their attention was soon drawn towards one direction, the master's headquarters.

They then started to gossip.

"What do you think is going on…?"

"Did our lady have an accident? Did the master…?"

"I think it involves that child. Y'know, the one who…"

Theories and questions started rising.

Their imagination quickly gets the best of them, they spoke in low tones.

"That's enough out of all of you. Now get back to work or punishment will soon arrive." Suddenly a stern voice managed to pull all attention to the center of the large room.

It was an old man that was wearing a black and white suit. His piercing electrifying blue eyes stared down at the workers, "I will check with milady. If you have time gossiping then you have time to work."

At once every worker in the room stood up straight and gave a nod. "Yes, head butler." thoughts still lingering in their minds, the servants went back to work.

The head butler grunted but kept silent until the room was empty.

He then started making his way to the master headquarters. As he reached the door his lady's cry got louder in both frequency and volume.

The sound was so loud that the door itself started to rumble, with a sigh the elderly butler knocked on the door.

The crying ceased but a few whimpers escaped.

"Milady, may I come in?"

"... Yes. You may enter."

Quietly entering the master's office, the head butler squinted his eyes from the bright lights that attacked his sight. From the corners of the room many pieces of armor sparkled in their display case. No matter how many years he has been here he has never gotten used to the row of sparkling armor.

In front of a long desk was his lady. A woman whose dark hair was tied into an elegant bun. She was wearing a light blue dress that befits that of a medieval queen. The family's symbol of love, loyalty and peace was tailored around the dress, taking the shape of swallows joining feathers together as if they were about to embrace one another as a whole.

This woman is the lady of the house, Asami Aoyama.

"The child…" Asami sniffed, disabling her quirk as she lowered her tone slightly, but still loud enough for the head butler to hear. "How is the child, Norio?" her heart could not help but weep tears for the child that her family has stumbled across. Blood… it was everywhere… everywhere…

Norio's lips thinned. Oh yes. The toad child that master has rescued. "He is currently unconscious, milady. Master Satoru immediately called in the family doctor, Mr. Kyo, to check on the boy."

"And my son? Wuwuwu~" Asami cried out. Her heart filled with sorrow for both the unknown child and her son. No doubt that her precious little prince would be traumatized from witnessing such a scene fallen upon a child especially near or at his age.

Norio sweat dropped. "The young master is…"

[Flashback]

"Young master. I heard from milady and master Satoru on what you just witnessed today. I am here t-" Norio blinked when he entered his young master's room. Beyond the toys and posters of knights, young master Yuga was seen on his couch, watching the television with smiling eyes.

Norio peeked at the television just to see the scene where the prince was carrying his princess into the setting sun, eyes locked into the others as they planned for their future without turning back.

"Oh, hey butler. I saw a child bleeding at a river, turning the water red. How cool was that?" the blonde, sparkled boy chirped with a wave.

"..." Perhaps he should confront the master of the house to limit screen time for the young master.

[Flashback End]

The butler felt more wrinkles appear on his face as he sighed, running a hand through his grey hair. "He appeared to be…"

"I know!" Asami leaned back on her fluffy chair with a dramatic poise. Her hand laying against her forehead. "Norio! Schedule the dinner party for a later date, I MUST see that my son's mentality is at peace!"

"Also," The Queen of the mansion screeched, "We must find the poor boy's parents at all cost and lecture them on the importance of child caring!" thoughts went to her mind as the hours passed. Why was the boy like this and how was he injured? Where were his parents when their child needed them the most! Oh when she gets her hands on the one who had done this… this… wicked act against the defenseless child then she would…!

"Milady. I am sure that the master is already finding the boy's parents as we speak…"

"What do you mean you can't find the child's parents?!" A blonde man with a strong chin spoke with an astonished tone. From out of his armor, he was wearing a dashing red suit with a cape over his shoulders. His family's doctor already ran a blood test in the hospital yet there was no match at all?

Doctor Kyo pressed a finger onto his lips, urging the master of the house to lower his tone in order to not wake the injured child.

On the large mattress in the bedroom was a young child about ten years old. The poor lad was covered with bandages around his arms, legs and both the upper and lower portions of the body. The wounds stopped long ago as the bandages absorbed the blood, making it have a reddish hue. His chest heaved up and down which was a good sign that his lungs were in no vital danger.

The doctor's eyes trailed downwards. He lightly poked the appendage.

The boy's short amphibian tail was shaking in response to the poke before slowing down and stopping.

Doctor Kyo frowned. "I had the hospital run his blood through the machine, but no results came out. You found him in a river, correct?"

Satoru nodded.

Kyo scratched his chin in thought. "Well I guess that means one thing…"

"What?"

"He must not be from this world." The doctor raised his hands with a forbidding tone.

"Really?!" Satoru jumped in his place in shock.

"No you idiot!" Doctor Kyo sneered and whispered back, "I was just joking! You truly believed that I was being serious?! What else do you believe that he was a gigantic monster of some kind in his past life and now he came back from the dead, wounded, and reborn as a mere child to pay for his ungraceful mistakes or something?!"

The knight had an embarrassed scowl. Do you always have to yell at me during these times? I thought we had a good bond?

"Listen, there are many cases like this. The hospital and government doesn't have every patient's or civilian's name on their list so it's fine. There are other ways to find the child's parents but my main concern right now was what could have inflicted these wounds? Perhaps it was a wild animal but now with quirks these days we could be unsure… anyway the boy has a toad quirk so I will ask the authorities if they can find any families in the area with frog/toad based quirks. Surely one of them must know the child."

"Sure." Satoru rolled his eyes. "Because all people with similar quirks are related to each other in some way."

"Yes. But that is just a theory," Kyo smirked as he raised his glasses upwards, a sparkle appeared on the lens, "A quirk theory."

The two men turned when a sharp gasp of air was inhaled.

No more shadows… was he awake?

Did he... win?

Gamaken raised his ungraceful body in a sitting position before a sudden pain was felt on his tail.

Wait…

The ungraceful toad turned, unaware of his surroundings and just stared at his tail that swayed about. I haven't seen my tail since my tadpole years... he reached a hand towards his tail.

He then noticed his hands, no longer that of an amphibian but humans?

He blinked.

"Salutations, young one."

Gamaken turned to the side, two men were staring at him with soft smiles.

He tilted his head slightly, tall?

Did he shrink...

Beyond the two men was a giant mirror.

Gamaken ignored the two men and focused on his reflection in the background. What greeted him was a human child with reddish-purple hair and black lines surrounding his eyes, two short rounded horn-like protrusions on the back of his head.

He stared with curiosity at the mirror to which amphibian eyes stared back.

He raised a hand and the mirror image copied.

The two men stayed quiet as they watched the young boy started to move around on the bed, under the blankets, over the pillow before taking a peek at the mirror.

Gamaken tilted his head yet again.

He was ungracefully confused at the moment.

"How… ungraceful…"

Author's Note: Holy sweet potatoes, there were actually people who read my story. I want to thank you all for having time to read the chapter of this ungraceful toad. Really. It means a lot to me. Long chapters aren't my thing so if you are expecting then sorry, I don't have the courage to accomplish such a feat. I will try my best for this story though, that is if my writer's block doesn't go all Noumu on me. Until next time, peace~ :)
