Before I start, this is one of my first two fanfics on here, with this one being about Max becoming a Pokémon trainer and meeting Bonnie, and they will tie together and lead into one upcoming huge Pokémon fanfic. I was inspired after rewatching the movie Jirachi Wish Maker and being a fan of Fourthwheelshipping, and so, here you go. Dialogue will be in script style. Enjoy.
A few years ago, a young boy from Petalburg City named Max, along with his sister, May, and their friends from Kanto, Ash and Brock, were on their journey throughout Hoenn, with Ash still dreaming of becoming a Pokémon master.
Once their journey has come to a close, after the Pokémon League, Grand Festival, and the Battle Frontier, May and Max have to depart back to their home. Max felt very upset at first, but Ash promised him that once Max becomes a trainer, they will have a battle together. Throughout their journey, Ash and his friends have gone on so many adventures, especially Max. Other than meeting Jirachi, he's also befriended a few other Pokémon along the way, one of them he vowed to see again and catch once he becomes a trainer.
A few years later...
Over the next few years, life at Petalburg City was still regular and normal for Max, except for the fact that May is always gone on a journey. After travelling through Hoenn and Kanto, she's also travelled through Johto, and most recently, Sinnoh as well, which she's just about to conclude. In fact, Max and May's parents, Norman and Caroline, have set up party decorations around the house for May's comeback as usual.
Other than that, Max has had a normal, but kinda boring, life ever since he departed from Ash's journey. He still wanted to go on a journey again, but, being the overprotective sister May is, she forbids him from going on her journeys. At least he has May's other Pokémon to take care of and have fun with.
But what's also a big deal for the family now other than May's Sinnoh Grand Festival success is Max's 10th birthday. He's finally gonna go on a journey for the first time since his journey with Ash, but this time, he's on his own. Max was getting more and more excited for his special day. He's finally gonna become a trainer just like Ash! And he got more confident after seeing Ash winning the Alola Pokémon League.
Today is the day that May arrives back from her Sinnoh Pokémon journey, with the Ribbon Cup in tow. Norman and Caroline made a few more adjustments to the decorations before May arrived.
Max: I'm so excited to see my sister again! It's been so long since I've seen her.
Norman: It sure has, Max. I miss my daughter too. And I hope she stays for your 10th birthday, my little trainer.
Max: I hope so too. It feels like I've been waiting forever for this day!
???: Mom! Dad! I'm home!
Norman: Wow, I didn't expect her to be back this earlier!
Caroline opened the front doors and immediately gave May a big hug.
Caroline: I missed you so much, May!
May: Heh heh. I missed you too, mom!
Max: Congratulations on your win, sis!
May: Hi, Max. It's so good to see you, especially when you're finally becoming a trainer!
He hugged Max tightly while smiling, as he hugged back.
Norman: You did a great job, May.
May: Thanks, dad. I missed being here.
May and Norman hug each other after being far away from each other for so long.
Caroline: Let's come inside, May. I made your favourite.
May: Chicken noodle soup, alright!
She ran inside, and the rest of her family followed.
Later that night, after May and her family were finished with dinner, she had an announcement to make.
May: Everyone... I have something to say. Over the years, I've travelled across four different regions, and I still wanna keep exploring the world since I love doing it... but this time, before my next journey... I want the rest of you to see what the next region I'm travelling to is like. And I've saved my Pokédollars for a long time just for this special occasion. So...
She grabbed something she's been keeping in her pocket for a while and showed it to her family.
May: I got us 4 plane tickets to Kalos!
Norman: Kalos?!
Caroline: May, that's amazing! Thank you!
Norman: Yeah, it'll be a nice family vacation we haven't had all together in a long time!
Max: What?! But what about my birthday?
May: Well... maybe this would convince you.
She got out a brochure of the city she wants to go to and gave it to Max.
May: The place we're going to is Lumiose City. The biggest city in all of Kalos! Any fun thing you can think of is here! They got restaurants, cafés, shops, lots of fun activities, and it's even home to the world famous Prism Tower! It's the perfect place for the last days with your family before you head out on your Pokémon journey.
Max: Well... when you put it that way... it actually does sound pretty fun.
May: Then it's settled. We leave in a couple of days, so that means we better pack up tomorrow. Especially you, bro.
Max: Got it.
May: We're going to Kalos!
A couple days later, after packing up their things, with Max packing enough of the necessary stuff for his Pokémon journey in his backpack, along with a plane ride from Hoenn to Kalos, May and her family have finally arrived at Lumiose City. She's so excited to be in the big city.
The first thing she did was book a 3 night stay with her family at a suite, which she also saved her Pokédollars for. Then after that, she took them to the nearest restaurant, since it was getting a bit late for her family to see the city tonight. They had a nice meal, and after that, they went to their suite.
Max: Wow! Didn't expect our room to be this big. Thanks, May!
May: No problem, Max. Also, I think now might be the perfect time for me to show you the Pokémon I got in Sinnoh, mom and dad!
Caroline: Oh really? Let's see!
May: Come on out, everyone!
She let out her 6 Pokémon, being Infernape, Chingling, Milotic, Breloom, Snover, and Lopunny. They let out their cries.
Norman: Wow! You're always full of surprises, May! Good team!
Caroline: Aww, I love Milotic!
May: Heheh, I didn't know you love Milotic, mom.
Max: What a cute little Chingling, May!
May: They're pretty fun to be around. There's never a dull moment when you're with a team like them.
She fed their Pokémon and fell asleep with the rest of her family later that night.
The next morning, May was more than excited to explore Lumiose City and shop till she drops, so she left a note on the door telling where she went to, along with when she'll be back to be with her family. It was also the day before Max's 10th birthday, so Norman told him to explore Lumiose City and have fun just to test Max on travelling alone, but he has to be back by sundown. He gave Max money to spend on whatever he wants, and he went out on his own.
Max: Wow... I haven't been walking alone on a journey since I was a little kid. But now it's time to see what a relaxing day in the city for a trainer is like.
He started walking alone, and was having a fun day by himself in Kalos. During his travels, he's been to the Juice Shoppe, the Lumiose Museum, and the Lysandre Café. He's been having a good time, and he decided to end his fun day by looking at the famous Prism Tower, but as he arrived, he saw the gym leader, Clemont, walking out with smoke on his face. It was his latest invention failed.
Max: Oh! Sir, are you okay?
Clemont: Yeah, I'm fine. That just keeps happening to me with my inventions.
Max: Inventions?
Clemont: That's right. You know who else I am? I'm this city's gym leader! And I'm world famous!
Max: Woah! I know who you are! You're Clemont from the brochure I read about Lumiose City! My name is Max, and I become a Pokémon trainer tomorrow!
Clemont: Good for you, Max!
May then saw Clemont and immediately ran over to him.
May: Are you the world famous gym leader Clemont?!
Clemont: Y-yes I am.
May: Can you please sign my new Kalos Pokédex?
Clemont: Sure!
Max: That's my sister, May. I came here for a little vacation with my family before my journey starts. Wait, you got your new Pokémon already?
May: That's right! Wanna see it?
Max: Do I!
May got out her Pokéball, as it opened, revealing Fennekin.
Max: Another Fire type, what a surprise.
May: Well, at least my Torchic and my Chimchar turned into huge dominators at contests and battles!
Clemont: You two fight frequently?
Max: Well, yeah, that's what siblings do.
Clemont: Me and my sister only fight sometimes.
Max and May: You have a sister?
Clemont: Indeed I do! I'd like for you and your family to meet her and I.
May: It would be perfect! I'll see you later tonight, Clemont. And you too, Max!
Max: See ya, May! And Clemont... before you go... can you show me what your sister looks like?
Clemont: Sure! Her name is Bonnie, and she looks like this.
Clemont showed Max a picture of Bonnie, and that caused him to blush a little.
Max: Whoa...
Clemont: Are you... blushing?
Max covered his cheeks.
Max: N-no!
Clemont chuckled, as he tells Max what Bonnie is like.
Clemont: Bonnie's gonna be 10 a couple days after you. She has a huge love of Pokémon, can be nerdy at times, she can tease me or get on my nerves a bit, and she has also befriended a core of a legendary Pokémon for a while. She named it Squishy.
Max: Oh... my goodness... Bonnie literally is... a girl version of me...
That caused him to blush more, as Bonnie came out of the Prism Tower behind Max.
Bonnie: I helped get rid of the smoke. You're welcome, bro-
She noticed Max, who was in a shocked/surprised/red-faced state, as she poked him on the back.
Bonnie: Uh... excuse me?
Max turned around to see Bonnie, and immediately got nervous and blushful.
Max: Oh! Uhhhhh... h-hello... there. Nice to... m-meet you.
Bonnie saw Max in her eyes and immediately started staring at him while blushing softly.
Clemont: Is... young love happening?
The two were lost in their own worlds while staring at each other.
Bonnie (thoughts): Who is this... handsome young boy?
Max (thoughts): Oh my gosh, she's actually right in front of me!
Clemont chuckled, as he clapped his hands loudly to snap them out of their trances while also startling them.
Bonnie: Oh... sorry, bro.
Max: Sorry too... How about we make things at a... little less awkward?
Bonnie: Yeah, sounds like a good idea. Wanna hang out somewhere?
Max: Sure! My name is Max. No need to tell me your name. Clemont already told me.
Bonnie: Nice to meet you, Max.
Max: You too, Bonnie.
Dedenne came out of Bonnie's bag.
Dedenne: Dene!
Max: Wow! What kind of Pokémon is that?
Bonnie: That's a Dedenne! I've been taking care of it for years.
Max: I've mostly been taking care of my sister's Pokémon after I left from Ash's journey.
Bonnie: Well, I hope you get a Pokémon soon.
Max: Mmhmm! My tenth birthday is tomorrow, by the way.
Bonnie: That's nice.
They both smiled and headed off to the park. They started talking about their journeys with Ash, along with them finding out that the other has travelled with Ash in the past. They were having fun for the next hour, but Max kinda wanted to head back to his suite, since he's seeing her and Clemont later tonight, and also because he's getting nervous again. He arrived back at the suite.
Max: I'm back, mom and dad.
Norman: Hey, Max! How was your day?
Max: It was fun, but... I also met this girl. She's the gym leader's sister, and she has also travelled with Ash.
Norman: You mean that Bonnie girl who's gonna meet us tonight for dinner with Clemont?
Max: Y-yes...
He started to blush again.
Norman: Don't worry, Max. There comes a time in life where you meet one girl and then go a little crazy for her because of her prettiness. That's how I met your mom, and here we are now. There's nothing to worry about. If you're having these urges, tell her how you feel. We'll see what happens.
Max: Thanks, dad.
Norman: And also, there's a special surprise waiting for you after dinner.
This surprised Max, and he smiled.
Then later that night, May, Max, and their parents went to Restaurant Le Yeah after booking their dinner there, and they walked inside to see Clemont and Bonnie waiting for them at their table.
Clemont: Hey, over here!
May: Norman, Caroline, I'd like you to meet Clemont and his daughter.
Bonnie: My name's Bonnie.
Norman: Nice to meet you, fellow gym leader.
Clemont: Oh, you're a gym leader too, I see.
They all started to talk while waiting for their dinner, except for Max and Bonnie, who wrote down on a napkin and passed it to each other under the table.
Then Max wrote down "You wanna go somewhere else after dinner? I gotta tell you something." Then Bonnie responded with "Okay, Max."
After dinner was all eaten up, especially by May, she and her parents said their goodbyes to Clemont and Bonnie, while Max went with Bonnie to the currentl empty park and sat on the bench.
Bonnie: So, Max. What do you wanna talk about?
Max: Bonnie... when Clemont showed me your picture and told me a few things about you before you came out and met me... I was shocked, and I started having these... urges.
Bonnie: Actually, first... You love Pokémon too? You tease your big sister just like I tease my big brother? And you've become friends with part of a mythical creature?
Max: Yes, yes, and... well, technically I've became friends with a mythical creature named Jirachi, but only for a week, and he only comes every thousand years.
Bonnie: Oh my goodness... does this mean that...
Max: We were...
Max and Bonnie: Made for each other?
The two started blushing, as they started going closer for a kiss, but then May came in and startled them.
May: Whatcha doing, Max?
Bonnie: WHOA!
Max: Hey, come on, May!
May: Sorry, Max, but it's getting late, so I better take you home.
Max and Bonnie: Aw man...
Bonnie then whispered in Max's ear.
Bonnie: Don't worry. You'll get what you want soon, birthday boy.
Max blushed and smiled, as he and May went back to the suite. When they arrived inside, Norman had something behind his back.
Norman: Max... I got something for you.
Max: *gasps and smiles*
Norman gave Max a Pokéball.
Max: A Pokéball?
Norman: Come on, throw it.
Max: Well... okay.
He threw the Pokéball, and out came one that he hasn't seen in years, but promised to come back for once he's a trainer...
Ralts: Ralts?
Ralts turned around and saw Max, instantly recognizing him.
Max: Dad... is that...
Norman: That's right, Max. I had it saved just for this occasion. After hearing the story about you saving a sick Ralts and promising to come back for it once you're a trainer, I wanted that same Ralts to come back for you, since you're becoming a trainer tomorrow.
Ralts started to smile while shedding a tear, as it jumped at Max and hugged him tightly.
Ralts: Raaalts!
Max: Oh, Ralts, I missed you too!
Norman smiled at what he saw, while Max and Ralts keep hugging while laughing.
It was a great day for Max, and the next day will be even better because he'll finally become a trainer. He couldn't wait for this day to come, and when he woke up the next morning, he had a big smile on his face.
Max: I'm gonna finally become a trainer today!
Caroline and May were happy for Max, and so was Norman, but he was a bit concerned on where Max should go for his first journey.
May: We should head to the Lysandre Café to celebrate Max's special day!
Caroline: Good idea, May.
They all headed over to the Lysandre Café, but just as they arrived, they saw Bonnie inside.
Bonnie: Oh, hi, guys!
Max: H-hi, Bonnie.
May: Uh... what's going on with Max? Whenever he's around that Bonnie kid, he gets nervous.
Caroline: Oh, they're just so cute together!
Norman: Hey, Max. How about you go and have a talk with Bonnie?
Max: S-sure.
He walked over to Bonnie and said hello while scratching his head.
Bonnie: Hi, Max. Glad to see you again.
Max: Glad to see you too.
Bonnie: Happy birthday.
Max: Thanks.
They both smiled, as they both sat at a separate table together while May wants to keep spending time with her parents.
Bonnie: So... about last night...
Max: Yeah, we... kinda took things a bit too fast... but then my sister had to come in. Sorry.
Bonnie: That's alright, Max.
Bonnie then saw May and then immediately got an idea. She ran over to her and got on one knee.
Bonnie: May! Will you please take care of my brother?
May: U-uhh...
Clemont was there too, as he got out his Aipom arm and grabbed Bonnie, taking her away from May.
Clemont: Sorry, May. My sister tends to do that.
Max and Dedenne laughed at what Bonnie did.
Max: That kinda reminds me of Brock. Every time he sees a girl, he immediately gets lovestruck, especially on Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny. I then pull him away by his ear.
That made Bonnie chuckle.
Bonnie: Guess I'm not the only one.
Max: Mmhmm. But I promise not to pull you away by your ear. Your brother has that covered.
Bonnie giggled at that.
Bonnie: You're funny, Max.
Max: I'm very smart on Pokémon too.
He started telling Bonnie a bunch of facts about Pokémon, which amazed her.
Bonnie: Wow... that's a surprise...
Max chuckled at Bonnie's amazement.
Max: Hey, Bonnie. You wanna join me and my family today? They want me to spend my last day with them since I'm heading out on my journey tomorrow.
Bonnie: Sure, Max.
The two smiled, as they rejoined Max's family. They had a fun day for a while, and Max was still deciding on where he should go for his journey, as well as if he should take Bonnie along with him.
Max (thoughts): Bonnie is such a nice girl, and she's gonna start her Pokémon journey as well. I want her to come along... but I hope she says yes.
Later that night, Bonnie was about to head back to her home, but Max wanted to stay with her.
Max: Hey, dad! Can I... come with Bonnie? Please? I'll come back to say my goodbyes tomorrow morning!
Norman: Aww, okay, Max. You can stay with Bonnie for the night.
May: Is Max... falling in love, dad?
Max: Hey! *blushes*
May: Kidding, kidding...!
Bonnie smiled wide, as she and Max started walking to her house. When they arrived at Bonnie's bedroom, that gave Max relief, since he's finally all alone with the newfound girl of his dreams.
Bonnie: So Max, what should we do now?
Max: First off, I have something to show you. Ralts, come on out!
He threw his Pokéball and Ralts came out of it.
Ralts: Ralts!
Bonnie: Wow! You got a Pokémon!
Max: Yep! I've actually known him for years! I came across him when he was sick in the forest, and I helped carry him to the nearest Pokémon Center. After that, I promised to come back for him once I become a trainer, and last night, my dad got the same Ralts just for me.
Ralts was hugging Bonnie, and she giggles.
Bonnie: Ralts is pretty cute!
Max: Hehehe.
Bonnie: I'm so glad to be with you, even though it's only gonna be for tonight, and then we have to go on our separate journeys.
Max: Actually...
Bonnie: Huh?
Max: You wanna go on the same journey with me?
Bonnie: Aww, Max! Of course I wanna go with you! A thousand times yes!
Max: Alright!
Max and Bonnie hugged each other, with Ralts joining and hugging their heads.
Max: Aww...
Bonnie: That's such an adorable Ralts.
Max: He sure is.
Bonnie: Also... I have something to tell you too. When I first met you, I didn't know we would become fast friends. It's very nice of you, especially being someone who's just like me in almost every way.
Max: Same with you, Bonnie. And lastly... I wanna tell you something very important...
Bonnie: Me... too...
The whole room turned silent, then they broke the silence at the same time.
Max and Bonnie: I love you...
Their faces turned red, as they slowly went close to each other and started to deeply and passionately kiss for the first time. They kept kissing for 20 seconds, then separated.
Max: Wow...
Bonnie: That was... amazing~
Max: Yeah~
Bonnie: I'm so happy that I can join you on your journey.
Max: Me too.
They both smiled while blushing.
Max: I love you so much, Bonnie.
Bonnie: I love you too, Max.
Max returned Ralts into his Pokéball, as he crawled into bed.
Max: Wanna relax in bed~?
Bonnie: Sure, Max.
She crawled into bed beside him and they both fell asleep a while later.
The next morning...
The new young couple woke up in bed, seeing each other's eyes, and smiling.
Max: Good morning, Bonnie.
Bonnie: Morning, Max... my love.
Max: I love seeing your smiling face in the morning.
Bonnie: Same as you, Max.
Max: Let's head back to my family to tell them our announcements and say our goodbyes.
Bonnie: Okay, sweetheart.
Max blushed while smiling, as he and Bonnie headed out of the house and towards the suite while holding hands. During the walk, they talk about where they should go to for their journey.
Max: Hmm... where should we go for our journey?
Bonnie: I recently heard of a new region being discovered called the Galar region. It's a large region, with a bunch of wide open space and cool-looking Pokémon.
Max: Hmm... that does sound like a good region to explore. Let's go there.
Bonnie: Okay!
They later arrived at the suite, with Norman, Caroline, and May waiting for them outside.
May: Hi, Max and Bonnie!
Max: Hi, May. I guess today is the day I head off on my Pokémon journey.
May: That's right, little brother. I'm going to miss you.
Bonnie: Max and I have a few things to say...
May: What is it, Bonnie?
Bonnie: Max and I... *holds Max's hand* are going on a journey together.
May: Wait, really?!
Max: Yes, May. She is gonna be 10 in a couple of days as well, and I wanna make sure she won't be alone.
Bonnie: Also... we're in love~
May: I knew it! Oh, that's so cute!
Max: *blushes* Maayyyyyy...
May: Sorry, Max, but young love is just so adorable to me.
Max chuckled hesitantly, while Bonnie smiled while looking at Max.
Bonnie: We can handle this, Max. Don't worry about it.
Max: Thanks, cutie.
Norman: Wow... didn't expect my boy to be in love so quickly. Glad things have worked out.
Caroline: Me too.
Suddenly, Clemont arrived after hearing everything.
Clemont: You're in love?!
Bonnie chuckled a little.
Bonnie: Excuse us for a moment.
Bonnie went somewhere else with Clemont to tell him about everything, along with if he'll let Bonnie go with Max to Galar, while Max told his parents where he and Bonnie are going, and May also told them how excited she is for her Kalos journey, and the siblings also told their parents how much they're gonna miss them.
After their talks, everything was all set. Clemont gave Bonnie 1000 Pokédollars and also paid for Max and Bonnie's Galar trip, May paid for her own train ticket to the starting point in Santalune City, and Norman and Caroline paid for their plane ticket back to Hoenn. They first headed off to the train station.
Norman: Well, May. I guess this is goodbye again. I sure am gonna miss you.
May: Don't worry. I'll call you and mom frequently during my journey.
Caroline: Thank you, May. I'm gonna miss you a lot. I guess the time where both of our children would be going on different journeys has come.
May: I'm gonna miss you, Max. And Bonnie, I hope you take good care of my brother.
Bonnie: I will, May.
Max: I'm gonna miss you too, sis.
The siblings hugged, as her train to Santalune arrived.
May: Goodbye, everyone! I hope you all have a good life!
Everyone: Goodbye, May!
She hopped on the train as it started to travel to Santalune City. After watching the train leave, everyone else went to the airport.
Max: Well... I guess this is it.
Clemont: I am going to miss you so much, Bonnie. You were a nice sister to be around, even though you get on my nerves a bit.
Bonnie: Yeah, but I'm gonna miss you too, big bro.
Clemont: Make sure you take good care of my sister, Max.
Max: Of course I will, Clemont.
Bonnie and Clemont started hugging each other.
Norman: And Max... I hope you succeed. Maybe one day you can become a gym leader like me. *gives Max a thumbs up*
Max: I'll do my best, dad.
Caroline hugged Max tightly.
Caroline: I'm gonna miss you so much, my sweet Max.
Max: I'll miss you too, mom.
They heard that the plane to Motostoke in the Galar region is now boarding.
Max: Well, everyone. It's been very nice being with you all, especially you, mom and dad.
Norman: Goodbye, son. I hope you call frequently like May.
Max: I will.
Bonnie: Goodbye, Clemont! I'll call you too.
Clemont: Goodbye, Bonnie. I hope you do great.
Max and Bonnie waved goodbye to their family members, and got on their plane. It flew off and started heading straight to Galar. Bonnie was resting her head on Max's shoulder for a while during the trip, then he stroked his hand on her head relaxingly. They were both excited for their journey, but after they land... something surprising might await them.
