"Aren't you supposed to be grounded?" Kai asked as he dodged an attack from Jay.

"It's fine," Lloyd said.

"Fine as long as your mom doesn't find out?" Cole asked as he tripped Zane.

"She's at work until six. Uncle Wu isn't here, is he?"

"I think he's on the Bounty," Nya replied. She was leaning against the wall of the warehouse and flipping through Wu's book.

"You're actually reading that?" Lloyd asked as he sat next to her.

"This is so dumb. You can't learn martial arts from reading!" Nya threw the book aside.

"Why aren't you sparring?"

"It was my turn to spar with Lloyd, but since he's not here…"

"I'll spar with you."

"Please. You wouldn't stand a chance."

"Hey, I'm the best on my team. If anything, I should be the one going easy on you."

The four guys stopped what they were doing and watched as Nya stood up. Lloyd followed her lead.

"Okay, mister. Let's see your amazing skills then." Nya got into her ready stance.

"Fine." Lloyd also got into a ready stance.

Jay, Cole, Kai, and Zane all backed up to watch the show from a safe distance. Lloyd charged at Nya, who easily dodged. When he threw a punch, Nya grabbed his arm and twisted it behind his back in one swift motion as she tripped him and pinned him on the ground.

"Best on your team, huh?" Nya teased as she released him.

Lloyd stood up, rubbed his arm, and ran at her again, only to be knocked down when she rammed her foot into his chest. She daintily sat on him and crossed her legs before he could get up.

"You're not going to beat her," Kai said as the guys spread back out so they could continue sparring.

Nya grinned as she helped Lloyd up. He put his hands on his knees as he caught his breath. Nya went back to her spot against the wall of the warehouse. Lloyd watched as the others started sparring again. Cole blocked a punch from Zane and paused. He looked out to sea and tensed up.

"Cole?" Zane asked when Cole did not move.

"Earthquake!" Cole yelled.

"What?" Jay asked.

Before Cole could respond, a low grumbling sound ripped through the ground. A moment later, they felt the shaking. Everyone struggled to stay on their feet as they stumbled about. Wu ran onto the main deck of the Bounty and grabbed the railing for dear life. Nya realized she was trapped against the warehouse. Cole tried to use his powers to stop the shaking, but the quake was too powerful. For three agonizing minutes, Ninjago City shook and swayed every which way. As Nya attempted to crawl into a better spot, the warehouse couldn't take the shaking anymore and collapsed, burying her in a pile of dust.

Once the shaking stopped, everyone ran over to the remains of the warehouse. At first glance, Nya appeared unharmed since she only had a little dust on her, but she was lying face down and wasn't moving.

"Nya?" Kai asked as he gently shook her shoulders.

She didn't respond. When Kai and Jay gently rolled her onto her back, they noticed the pool of blood under her head.

"No. Nya!" Jay scooped her up and put an ear to her chest to listen to her breathing.

"Is she…" Lloyd couldn't finish the question.

"She's still breathing," Jay said.

"We shouldn't move her. We need to call the paramedics," Zane pointed out.

"Uh, guys?" Cole asked.

"Please don't go," Jay whispered as he kissed her forehead.

"I can't get through to anyone," Lloyd said as he put his phone in his pocket.

"Guys?" Cole asked a second time.

"That's not surprising. Emergencies services are stretched thin right now," Zane said as sirens blared all over Ninjago City behind them.

"We have to get her to a hospital," Kai said.

"Guys!" Cole yelled.

"What?" Jay yelled back.

"We have bigger things to worry about."

"Bigger things? Nya is hurt! What's bigger than that?" Kai yelled.

An explosion ripped through Ninjago City, and a plume of ash and smoke erupted from Garmadon's volcano. A second explosion sent lava hundreds of feet into the air. The wind blew the ash and lava towards the City as the volcano continued to erupt.

"We have to help the people," Lloyd said.

"But…" Jay was still holding Nya.

"I will take her to the hospital. You five must help out. Cole, Zane, and Kai, go to the volcano. See if you can use your powers to stop the eruption and help evacuate any remaining members of my brother's army. Lloyd, you and Jay will help evacuate the City." Wu took Nya from Jay.

"What if something happens to her?" Kai asked.

"You can't think like that," Cole argued.

"I will take good care of her," Wu reassured Kai and Jay.

Lloyd gave them all earpieces and dragged Jay towards downtown while Cole and Zane worked on getting Kai to the volcano.

"How are you not worried about Nya?" Kai asked as they flew to the volcano.

"I am worried, Kai, but we have to focus on what's in front of us. Wu said he would get her to a hospital so we can do our jobs," Cole said.

"Cole is right. We have to make sure everyone is safe," Zane said.

Kai groaned and followed his teammates. When they arrived at the volcano, the last few soldiers of Garmadon's shark army trying to evacuate, but there was a river of lava blocked their path. There wasn't anywhere big enough for them to land their dragons on the side with the trapped soldiers. Zane immediately tried to freeze the lava in front of the trapped soldiers, but the lava was too hot and melted any ice Zane threw at it.

"Cole, see if you and Kai can move the lava out of their way," Zane suggested.

"Move the lava?" Cole asked.

"Yes. It is merely molten rock. Your powers combined should work on it."

"And what are you going to be doing?" Kai asked.

"I will rescue them." Zane pointed to the soldiers.

"I'm not sure about this," Cole said as he and Kai got into position.

"We have to try," Kai said.

Another explosion sent more lava flying through the air. The soldiers screamed as another river of lava started flowing their way. Cole and Kai worked together and started to move the lava away from the trapped soldiers.

"Ow," Cole said as he stopped and shook his hands.

"Cole, keep going," Kai yelled.

"It's too hot!"

"The heat isn't that bad."

"Easy for you to say!"

"Cole, this is their only chance," Zane argued.

Cole nodded and tried again. Not even twenty seconds later, Cole screamed and knelt down, pressing his hands into his sides in a sort of hug.

"Cole!" Kai bent down beside his friend.

"Are you okay?" Zane asked.

Cole shook his head as he grimaced in pain.

"Let me see." Zane tried to take one of Cole's hands, but Cole pulled it back.

"What happened?" Kai asked.

Cole could only groan in response.

"Now what?" Kai asked.

"He needs medical attention. Kai, you are the only one who can survive a trip across the lava. If you bring them across one at a time, then we can evacuate them," Zane pointed out.

"Are you nuts?"

"We are out of options. Cole, do you think you can summon your elemental dragon?"

Cole shook his head again. As Zane helped him stand, Kai noticed the bits of ash and hot rock stuck to Cole's pants. He brushed the debris off of Cole and saw where his pants had been burned clean through. Zane nodded and Kai slowly pried one of Cole's hands away from his side. Cole's glove was practically melted onto his skin.

"Oh my gosh," Kai said.

"Kai, get them. I will take him to the hospital," Zane demanded. He summoned his elemental dragon and helped Cole climb on.

Kai spinjitzued across the lava, grabbed one of the soldiers, and spinjitzued back. The soldier ran away to a secret underwater exit. Kai did that for each of the remaining soldiers until they were all safe.

Koko breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Lloyd sitting in the waiting room of the hospital with Zane and Wu. She ran over to him and hugged him.

"Mom," Lloyd said.

"I was so worried about you when you weren't home," Koko said.

"I can explain."

"Don't bother. I can guess where you were."

"Cole and Nya were hurt. Nya's in the ICU and Cole was taken back maybe five minutes ago."

Koko sat down next to Lloyd. Almost two hours passed before anyone had information on Cole. Zane and Wu saw him first, but they were only allowed to visit for fifteen minutes. Once they were back, Koko and Lloyd followed the nurse down the hall.

Along the walls of most of the hallways, gurneys were lined up. They went down three hallways with gurneys before they got to Cole's gurney. Both of his legs were wrapped in bandages from the knee down, and his hands were also wrapped.

"What happened?" Koko asked.

"I'm not sure… It should have worked…" Cole said.

"How badly were you burned?" Lloyd asked.

"I have first and second-degree burns on my legs and feet, and third-degree burns on my hands."

"Ouch."

"Eh. They gave me something for the pain, and they're trying to monitor me for any allergic reactions, but I don't see how they can." Cole crossed his arms as best as he could.

"Allergic reactions?"

"I'm deathly allergic to morphine. I don't think they believed me, but I said the magic word so they have to take me seriously."

"Please?" Koko asked.

"Lawsuit."

"I'm surprised you didn't just tell them your last name," Lloyd said.

"I don't like using my name to get stuff in my own world; I'm certainly not going to use it in this world. My friends only found out who I was related to last year… Is there any word on Nya?" Cole asked.

"I know she's out of surgery. Jay and Kai are with her. I don't know anything else."

Jay couldn't get comfortable. Even though the staff had brought him a recliner to sit in, Jay couldn't get comfortable. The day's events were too much. A small tsunami had occurred about an hour after the quake. Thankfully it didn't do too much damage to Ninjago City apart from the docks, and it also helped with the erupting volcano.

Jay sighed and took Nya's hand. The entire right side of her head was shaved from the surgery. She had a depressed skull fracture and a traumatic brain injury. The doctors told Jay they had to wait for her to wake up before they could know the full extent of her injuries. If she woke up at all. Jay looked up when he heard someone enter the room.

"Nya!" Kai ran over to the bed. He reached out to touch her shoulder but pulled his hand back at the last second.

"Is she going to be okay?" Kai asked.

Jay didn't say anything.

"Is she going to be okay?" Kai asked louder.

"They don't know," Jay admitted as he wiped away a tear.

Kai sat down on the bench by the window.

"Where are the others?" Jay asked after a while.

"Cole was hurt. His injuries aren't life-threatening and he was still waiting to go back last I saw him," Kai said.

"What happened?"

"It was my fault. He said he couldn't do it, but I made him. And now he's burned real bad. It's all my fault."
