Ch 0: We Start At The End
[{(o)}]
"I must contain this..." The entity spoke as she watched several hologram-like screens. The words [Breach] flashed in all of them.
"Why? why is this happening?!" The entity yelled and slammed her fist on an obsidian slab. A small square hologram appeared on her side.
"Madame Argenta. Preparations are complete." a woman's voice spoke in monotone.
"What of the two Siblings?" The entity asked.
"They have terms." The voice spoke.
"Damn it all! Those spoiled brats don't know how much this threat poses!" The entity paced around the room.
"What are the terms?..."
"Do not interfere with Remnant directly... However they will allow one interference. Find a champion."
The entity was silent for a moment.
"That's it?"
"Yes. There were more but the Dark one was more pragmatic. The Light one was hesitant and demanded more. Arguement ensued and the Dark one won."
The entity sighed a breath of release. She honestly expected more from the siblings. But she had predicted this... well some of it.
"Should I initiate the beginning stages?"
"Yes. I've already chosen my champion. Now we'll have to see if he's worthy."
"As you wish Madame Argenta."
The entity walked past the holoscreens and looked into a display case. Several emblems shone with mysterious light. Many shone brightly. A Rose. A snowflake. A Belladonna. A Fire shaped emblem. Shield and spear. Flowers. A Hammer. Gears and cogs. A feather. A Cat with a witch's hat. So many shone brightly. But only one caught his eye. Discarded to the side, barely visible. It's light shone... not too bright not too dark... a simple soul.
She reached down and clutched the emblem softly in her hand.
"Are you sure about that? He is the most unremarkable one in the bunch. I recommend the Rose. Her innate power is useful and will aid her should she be chosen." A different woman's voice spoke behind her. "Remember. The priestess said that they would only allow one interference. Once you've chosen him you cannot change or empower him. You can only guide him."
"I have made my choice sister... He will be my champion."
"Your funeral." The voice scoffed. The entity known as Madame Argenta could feel her sister rolling her eyes as she left.
The entity walked back to the screens. She placed the emblem on the obsidian slab. Several markings shone when the emblem touched the slab. The other screens disappeared and only one remained. She sighed at what was shown on the screen. Pitty filled her.
It showed a young man furiously swinging his sword in a forest. His blonde hair was a mess. He looked like he'd been crying. He kept swinging and swinging and swinging. She watched as the sun set down and the young man keeping pace. His thoughts reverberated in the screen. 'worthless, worthless, worthless...' Harsh words kept repeating.
She pressed a scene slection option on the holoscreen and set it on fastforward. It showed him with his friends smiling amongst them. Then it showed him in a bathroom clutching his face and sobbing. This was a reoccuring scene. Another scene showed him approaching a ginger haired boy and a few others bothering a bunny faunus. Then it showed him getting badly beaten behind a building. He went back to the others like nothing had happened. Keeping that painful fake smile. She went to the current time and saw the boy on the ground exhausted, staring at the night sky.
"It's all worthless... I'm worthless. How can I help people when I'm like this?... My grandfather always said that a hero has to keep smiling. Become a symbol of hope. Make them laugh, ease their tension. Be reserved but also be open. Let them trust you... I've been doing all of that. Trying to be this ideal hero... a knight in shining armor..."
His thoughts...
"There is no ideal hero... It's all fake... I can't be a hero. I'm not good enough. My father said so. My mother said so. My sisters said so... only one person believed in me and I let her die..."
She sees the boy began to tear up again. The negativity would've attracted grimm but he already wiped out the grimm in the area.
"Can I?... Can I be a hero?..." The boy stood up. He made his choice. The light in his eyes faded.
'Jaune...' The entity clenched her hand.
"You can be a hero Jaune." She wasn't sure if that was her voice or not but for some reason a voice echoed in his thoughts the same time she spoke those words. A voice of a young girl.
He was silent...
"... I can help the people. I don't care if I have to do it alone."
'No... you need them Jaune!'
"Last chance dear sister." Her sister's voice echoed in the room.
"I have made. My choice. He will be my champion. He will be a hero. My hero. With or without my help."

Jaune returned around 2 in the morning that night. He could care less about their worries. They were worried about poor, frail, Arc. He would become a leader for them… and nothing else. When morning came Jaune was nowhere to be found. The rest of his team had asked team RWBY if they've seen Jaune anywhere. Yang started to throw in some jokes at his expense, Weiss began to speak terribly of him, Blake didn't care, and Ruby was the only one genuinely worried. It was a Sunday so there were no classes. Pyrrha and Ruby began to worry and suggested that they should look for him. But Yang shrugged and told them that he might have just gone to Vale to buy some more comics. Pyrrha and Ruby were a little bit relieved as they figured that it may have been the case. But both still were worried. Pyrrha recalled the look on Jaune's face that night. It looked devoid of light and he was a mess. Ruby remembered some of the students a day before berating Jaune and bullying him. She promptly confronted them. Both girls stared at each other in worry.
Their sunday went by with all of them having something to do that day, be it loitering or training. Jaune finally came back at 10 in the evening. Pyrrah tried to ask where he went but just just answered that he was training and studying and went to bed.
The team woke up to no sight of Jaune again in the morning but arrived 10 minutes later sweaty. He greeted them a good morning monotonely and grabbed his uniform. He went into the shower after confirming that his team was done.
They walked to class together with their sister team. Ruby asked worried where he's been and got the same answer as them. Yang joked again and Weiss said some harsh things to him but he just ignored them and walked silently. Only Pyrrha and Ruby noticed that something was off.
Classes went by regularly. Port with his Grimm studies, Oobleck with history, Peach with Dust studies, Glynda with Combat and so on… the only thing different with how it went was how quiet and focused Jaune looked. His face had a stern look throughout all the classes. He didn't bother to speak to his team or team RWBY. It was somewhat awkward for his classmates as Jaune usually would stumble around and goof off most of the time. After School Jaune personally went to Professor Port to ask some questions.
Jaune returned to the dorm at 11 that night. He told them that he was studying at the library.
The next day came. Like before Jaune was nowhere to be found and just like before he came 10 minutes later looking ragged. When asked he gave them the same answer.
Same thing as before happened only this time, after school, he went to Vale.
The next day, the same thing happened. After School he went to the training arenas to train alone.
The next day after school he asked for permission to go somewhere, he wouldn't say where.
The next day he visited the forge and talked with the forgemaster of Beacon.
That week all of his classmates began to notice that something was missing throughout their days. The jokes and the insults still came but it didn't have the same effect as before. Ruby and Pyrrha often spoke to each other and tried to talk to Jaune. They asked him what was wrong. He only told them that there was nothing wrong and there was nothing to worry about. He told them that he just had an epiphany and just left it at that.
Weeks go by and the first year classes began to notice the gray atmosphere. It wasn't anything major but they all noticed the silence. His Team and team RWBY were all eating quietly during lunch. Ruby and Nora kept things interesting. But they couldn't ignore the quiet stern looking blonde at his seat. They had noticed that Jaune has never once smiled or spoke when not spoken to. He was just there. He would occasionally ask his team of their progress and occasionally discuss on team dynamics but that was it. Pyrrha once seen Jaune packing all of his comic books. Velvet told them that she'd seen him at an orphanage with a large box of comics.
During those weeks Vale was a buzz. The news networks covered dozens upon dozens of news about police uncovering corrupt companies, crime rings, and white fang arrests. They even covered evidence of a crime syndicate operating the crime societies and the white fang. Evidence was uploaded to every social network and sent to authorities. The evidence included corrupt and racist police officers and council members. These evidence sparked civilian protests and revolts.
It was finally time for the monthly combat exams. It was here that Jaune revealed his new huntsman outfit and weapon. He was wearing a black armored blazer atop a white vest on a black red outlined shirt. He wore black slacks with holsters strapped to both legs and leather boots. His hair was combed and his face adorned the stern look that perturbed some of the students. Crocea mors was strapped to his back and it seemed that the shield was gone. It was now something of a two handed longsword. The guard looked like it was gripping the blade. Further inspection seemed to signify that it would open up. What would happen if it did was unknown.
He was called in to the arena along with Cardin's team. Everyone in class looked confused including his team and Team RWBY. Cardin asked Glynda about it but was shut down. Cardin shrugged and threw in some insults to Jaune but he just stood there staring at them. The match began.
...though it was short. Jaune had decimated them in a couple of minutes… everyone was quiet. Glynda announced the winner. Jaune didn't say a word as he walked out of the Arena...
Ruby went to follow Jaune after asking her friends that she'd do it alone. She came back at 8 pm in the evening. Her team and team NPR asked her what happened to finally make things clear. Ruby only vaguely answered that he was done being himself. Team NPR tried to look for him but Ruby stopped them saying that he needs some time alone. They didn't notice the tear stains on Ruby's shoulder.
After that Ruby too began to act strange. Both she and Jaune would disappear till evening. When asked they would answer that they trained. It wasn't like they lied though. Both she and Jaune could often be found in the library and for some reason Jaune seems relaxed around her. Pyrrha tried to join in. But was often sidetracked by her job as a celebrity. It was comforting to her though that Jaune was starting to talk to her more now. It had seemed that whatever Rubydid got him out of his funk.
After a few more weeks Jaune had seemed to gain a reputation. Which irked Weiss for some reason. She had been dating Neptune for about three weeks now and it was already crumbling. It irked her that somehow more and more students had begun to notice Arc. In a matter of a few months he had gone from a complete buffoon to one of the top students in their first years. She could still remember his cold stare as he held his blade at her throat that time when Glynda called her and Arc to spar. She put up quite a fight but he was just unrelenting. He didn't let her cast a single glyph. Ruby too had somewhat changed. Where she was clueless like before now she was… mature. Often supporting her team and other people. She was stronger now too. The hallways would often light abuzz of rumors between Jaune and Ruby. Yang heard the rumors. She went to Ruby to confirm it but whatever Yang saw that day made her snap. The protective Yang tried to confront Jaune about it and confront him she did. She didn't even try to hear what he had to say when she attacked. Jaune didn't even try to fight back as she delivered punch after punch. She was only stopped when her sister hooked her with her scythe and pulled her off him. Yang tried to push Ruby away while screaming that he had defiled her to which she received a hard slap. Yang stared at her sister's tearful face. Ruby didn't say anything and just shook her head before she ran to help a bruised and bloodied Jaune. Yang was reprimanded after that by a furious Goodwitch who stared at the beaten Arc. She was so furious that she had suggested expulsion and Ozpin would have accepted too until Jaune intervened. She was only given house arrest after the incident.
Blake had begun to notice Jaune as well. It was only after the shipyard incident. He was there with her when it happened. He just so happened to find her at a cafe that he goes to. And confronted her about her gripes with Weiss. The gall he had when he told her how much of a hypocrite she was. He told her that she judges humans too harshly. She reasoned but Jaune rebutted her reasons. Sun was also there she supposed. Sun got angry on her behalf but it didn't make her feel any better. Jaune ignored Sun and told her the words that shook her. "Past is past Blake. You want to fix things? Fix yourself first.". He told that in a stern tone but softened when he held her hand and told her that staying angry won't do good to anybody and that sometimes it's better to consider the reason why they do what they do before making assumptions. Forgiveness comes with a price and that price is reason. Those words made her think. Noticing that he was left out, Sun shared information about a shipment of dust. She immediately wanted to go to the docks. Jaune suggested to call the school and the police. But Blake told them that she was going to try to talk the White Fang out of this crime spree. Jaune nodded but he was thinking about something. They arrived at the docks that night. Blake was shocked at what she saw. The White fang was working with Roman Torchwick. Jaune called Ruby in his scroll before Blake could stop him. Jaune turned to her and told her to keep them distracted. He told her to do what she has to do. He turned to Sun and told him to provide backup for Blake. Blake and Sun then went to confront the white fang. Blake then saw Jaune going to the bullhead unnoticed as all eyes were on her. Roman gloated as Blake tried to reason with her former allies. Blake spoke some more, asking more questions. Jaune seemed to be done with what he was doing when he walked out in the open. He ignored Roman Torchwick and faced the White Fang. He asked them a question. He asked them if this was really for the good of the Faunus. The White Fang members shouted their anger fuelled answers. 'How dare a human speak as if he knows what the faunus has gone through' they shouted. But he remained calm. He looked at them and asked them if they knew where this dust was going to. They answered that it was going to the corrupt capitalists in Vale. And then he told them that this was a donation to the Faunus Quarter. Everyone went quiet. He told them that there was a ship manifest and other documents that details where these were supposed to be going. 70% to the Faunus Quarter. 30% to some of the ruined shops that they raided. He then told them that most of the dust robberies that they did greatly affected the poor people in the city. Rising Bills and Necessities. Humans and Faunus alike suffered because of them. The white fang looked horrified. Roman decided that he had enough of the talk and tried to shoot Jaune in the back but his cane was suddenly shot off his hand. Looking to the side he saw a glint of a sniper scope from atop one of the shipping crates. Soon team NPR and team RWY came out of the shadows. They all walked past the white fang and faced Roman. Jaune told Roman to surrender but Roman laughed and grabbed a nearby white fang member threatening to break his neck. Jaune glared. Roman commanded the bullhead pilot to start the engines but it wouldn't start no matter how much the pilot tried. One more time Jaune told him to surrender, this time in a heavy and imposing tone. He nodded to Ruby as if to signal something. Ruby turned to all the White Fang members. Ruby told them to run and hide. To go back to their friends and family and tell the other White Fang members of how much damage they're doing to their fellow faunus. The White Fang left. Soon the police came. Roman still surrounded by Beacon's students. His cane, melodic cudgel, was bent due to the high impact anti-tank round. He didn't have time to look back when Jaune appeared in front of him and punched him straight in the face. The hostage was let go and Jaune told the hostage to run. Jaune tackled a disoriented Roman to the ground and did a maneuver that incapacitates people. He had successfully detained Roman Torchwick. The police came and saw the students along with an incapacitated Roman Torchwick. They took in Torchwick and had the students in for questioning. The Headmaster and Deputy Chief of Beacon came soon after. They were commended for their actions and also reprimanded for their decisions. All in all though Blake and Weiss made up. It seemed that Ruby had spoken to her while Jaune spoke to Blake. While Blake and Weiss embraced each other in forgiveness Jaune and Ruby smiled. They looked at each other as they held hands and then looked at the heartwarming scene of the heiress and the former-terrorist. It was truly lucky that Pyrrha didn't witness this scene as she was answering some questions by the police. Celebration was short-lived when the police started yelling. Torchwick had escaped. They had left him in a police car prior to the escape. The only thing they saw inside the car was what looked like glass shards. Jaune and Ruby looked at each other. The night ended with them being sent back to school. Blake at that time never took her eyes off the blonde swordsman as they rode the bullhead. His head was resting on Pyrrha's shoulder, said Champion was red the whole trip. Blakes fascination with Jaune started from there.
Then the dance happened. Everyone was in high spirits. RWBY were in charge of decorating while the rest of the first years helped with setting it all up. The night of the dance Jaune went with Pyrrha. Weiss was alone for some reason and Ruby was walking with Jaune and Pyrrha. Blake stood by the punchbowl. She had assumed that Sun would come and ask her to the dance considering his infatuation with her but he was nowhere to be found. She later found him standing beside Neptune. They were both talking to girls from other schools. Blake didn't care but she did see Weiss looking both angry and sad at the same was hanging out with some second years so there's nothing interesting with her going on. Pyrrha and Ruby soon joined Blake at the punchbowl for some friendly conversation. Blake asked where Jaune was and Pyrrha told her that he went to get the camera at their dorm. Apparently Nora borrowed Velvet's camera for this event but forgot to bring it. Next thing you know a huge explosion happened and Jaune was found on a crater having apparently fallen from the CCT tower. His suit was burned but aura had helped him survive. He was lying on his back and was helped up by general Ironwood.
Jaune stated that he saw someone attack the guards on his way to the dorms and engaged the assailant. He didn't have time to call for help as the assailant had already entered the elevator. He told the teachers that he had managed to pry open the elevator and surprised the assailant in it and pinned her down. The elevator went up to the top floor as both struggled. Him trying to incapacitate her and trying to get him off. She only managed to escape by somehow setting herself ablaze. The explosion only happened when the assailant and him fought. Jaune using a fire extinguisher to blind her and hitting her with it. It was heavy enough to do damage. Finally after realizing that she was wasting her time she burst into flames in anger effectively destroying all the equipment in the tower. The explosion came after. Whatever that assailant was about to do, she was foiled by him. Thankfully no one died. Jaune was called in for further questioning and the dance was cut short.
The day of missions finally came. First years were given their first missions. Team RWBY chose a mission for second years and were surprisingly given permission. Team JNPR was given a mission to tail a police investigator in Vale to learn about the relationship of huntsmen and lawmen. Team RWBY's mission devolved into a high-stake mission involving the White Fang, Roman Torchwick and a plot to breach Vale. The white Fang this time around were now far fewer and in between. It seemed that Jaune's words really hit them. Still team RWBy only managed to lessen the damage of the breach after failing to stop the train resulting in a relatively small hole. Only a few Grimm were able to enter Vale and were quickly dispatched by Team RWBY and team JNPR, who arrived as soon as they heard the explosion. Jaune almost decapitated Roman in anger but the authorities stopped them, specifically the police investigator who they were following. A woman in her late twenties with blonde hair and green eyes. She bore a striking resemblance to Glynda Goodwitch. The two teams conversed after team RWBY was taken aside for questioning. Team RWBY detailed their mission after that Jaune detailed their mission. Apparently they were supposed to just observe a simple missing persons case. But it devolved into a frantic fight to prevent a virus to spread in the city. The first day happened very mundanely. They tailed the investigator, who introduced herself to be Morgana Goodwitch, Glynda's younger sister who took on law and protection as to becoming a huntress. This surprised them. They didn't know Glynda had a sister. The second day was where it all began to get interesting. Ren had managed to tail the car of a suspected kidnapper, Nora followed him. They both went unnoticed and saw the car enter the parking lot of a supposedly abandoned factory. Ren called in for Jaune and Pyrrha. Jaune advised them to pull back and wait for reinforcements. Jaune and Pyrrha soon arrived with the investigator. They raided the Abandoned factory after having the police quietly surround the place. They managed to find a syndicate that deals in human and faunus trafficking. It was there that they discovered a shocking discovery. After rescuing a total of 15 people, they found out that a pharmaceutical company in Vale had been buying the kidnapped people. After this was revealed Morgana and JNPR immediately asked for a warrant to raid said company, the police chief was reluctant at first until Jaune slammed a folder on his table. The folder was marked 'Tests'. He told the chief that he acquired it from an anonymous source. The police chief finally issued the warrant. The raid happened and it went horribly wrong. After arresting all the employees team JNPR along with Morgana Goodwitch and a squad of SWAT operatives went deeper into their underground labs, it seemed that the scientist responsible for the experiments hid there. As soon as they entered the underground labs, they were all sealed in. Horrific things happened down there. Screams echoed when the lights were cut and the emergency lights came on. It wasn't their screams but the screams of the employees left inside the labs. They found bodies mangled and strewn everywhere. The hallways were covered in blood. The scientist managed to split them all up individually… they all had to fight horrible mutations in that gods forsaken labyrinth. Jaune refused to detail the story even further. He just finished up by telling them that they had managed to stop the scientist and the pharmaceutical company. Morgana Goodwitch survived but the SWAT team were all wiped out. "We weren't fighting Grimm down there… we were fighting people…things… that used to be people..." Nora spoke as she teared up in Ren's arms. His team was quiet save for Nora's sobs. They all left it at that. They all returned to their rooms and rested. They were to hand in their reports tomorrow and at the request of Jaune, team JNPR was scheduled for Psychiatric help along with the police investigator.
Both teams were given other missions after a couple of days resting and this time the missions were supposedly light and menial. Team RWBY went to patrol a town outside of Vale and JNPR was sent to a secluded village… team JNPR's mission was supposed to be a simple patrol mission… then it devolved into an investigation on missing children. One thing led to another and it led to them uncovering a horrific cult and an entity that could only be described as… twisted and maliciously cruel. They barely made it out alive along with the evacuated people. Jaune had suffered a fatal wound after fighting the entity and had to be airlifted. He was trying to buy time for his team to evacuate the village. He and his team managed to wipe out the cult but was overwhelmed by the entity. Right before he collapsed due to his wounds he asked Pyrrha to call his scroll once she confirms that everyone is evacuated and far away from the village. When they were far enough, Pyrrha called his scroll. A large explosion could be seen miles away. The three of them along with the rescued villagers watched as the orange and yellow hue momentarily lit the night sky. Pyrrha swore she could see the flames turn into a screaming humanoid figure… Pyrrha and the rest of her team submitted the report to Ozpin while their leader rested and healed. Glynda read the report along with some images. Glynda gagged and Ozpin stared in horror. Bodies upon bodies of… children. A cult that purposefully mutilated themselves, some even missing several body parts. When asked about the cult they just told them that it was as if they didn't feel pain. It took a lot of damage to take one down. More images of writings of blood on the wall. Several books bound with a human face. And finally one last image. It looked like it was taken while on the run. It was dark but Ozpin and Glynda could make out a large humanoid creature. It didn't look like grimm. It was without skin. It's eyes were blank and yet it stared right at the camera. A sick grin was on its face. Oily hair draped its sickening face. When asked what this was Pyrrha and her team shook their heads. She told him that Jaune had ordered for the evacuation of the village immediately. They didn't investigate enough to find out what this thing was. Ren added that Jaune must've decided to just destroy the entire village than let this thing loose. It was to be noted that grimm were not present for about 5 miles away from the village. Team JNPR was given a long break and more psychiatric aid as well as antidepressants. Jaune Arc woke up two days later and was immediately called to the headmaster's office. Team RWBY returned from their mission. It went without a hitch other than a run-in with an infamous bandit group. Jaune approached Blake and told her that he had received intel on a white fang rally and that it was cancelled due to the lack of members. Blake was surprised that he would share this info with her and he just told her that it was better than chasing false info. Blake thanked him and he left but Blake stopped him and asked where his team was. He told her that they were… resting. Their mission did a lot of things to them. Blake just nodded and left it at that.
Vytal Festival was postponed due to the civil unrest in Vale due to constant demands for resignation and arrest for several council members . Though it didn't stop the students from all huntsman schools to arrive at Beacon. Missions still came. Team JNPR were given the most menial of missions. Most went off without a hitch. Though Jaune's team noticed that he has been disappearing lately. Whenever he comes back he always goes to the headmaster first. To Pyrrha and the rest of his team, it was evident that Jaune has been going to solo missions. They knew full well why he goes alone. Pyrrha also noticed that Ruby has been waiting for him each time he goes out in his solo missions. Always staring to the distance with a worried gaze like a wife waiting for her husband to come home. She was used to it though. Jaune has become popular lately. Often having love letters addressed to him sent to their dorm mail slot along with her adoring fan letters.
A week had passed. Jaune was nowhere to be found. He hasn't come back yet. This made his team and team RWBY worried. Ruby then suddenly got a call. Ruby looked horrified. She used her semblance to quickly head to the air docks. Team NPR and team WBY followed. What greeted them was a crashed bullhead in the middle of the airdocks. The door was kicked open from the inside and out came an unknown woman in a tight body suit and helmet holding a heavily injured Jaune Arc. The woman kept calling for help. Soon the teachers came. The teachers took Jaune Arc into Beacon's emergency ward with Ruby and Pyrrha beside him. They didn't notice the bullhead spark. The bull head exploded and everyone screamed. But no debris and flame came. The woman was holding her hand to the exploding bullhead. After shouting some unknown language glyphs suddenly appeared and created an energy bubble that contained the explosion. The woman pushed the bubble with an unseen force to the edge where the contained explosion fell to the lake below. The woman breathed raggedly and fell to the ground…. Everyone dispersed as the teachers broke the crowd.
… it is now the present.
Jaune Arc was still in a coma. His friends stood beside his bed. They were all quiet…
Ruby was holding Jaunes right hand and Pyrrha was holding his left. Pyrrha kept apologizing for being so weak and wept. Despite her strength, the trauma of their past missions still haunted her. Ruby caressed Jaune's hand with her thumb as she held his.
"Everything's fine… everything will be fine. Jaune's strong. He won't let this stop him." She smiled as her eyes teared. "He's always been strong."
"Can someone explain to me what the hell is happening?!" Yang yelled in frustration.
Ruby went quiet for a bit. And then she turned to Yang.
"He's been fighting." Ruby spoke.
"Fighting what exactly? And don't tell me that it's just grimm and criminals. Something bigger is happening here. And there are rumors Ruby. Not among the students but among the teachers and staff." Blake looked at Ruby sternly.
"It's those things… wasn't it? Those…" Nora sobbed and Ren rubbed her back. "We were supposed to be a team…" Nora's tears began to show. Nora lamented at how terrified she was of those things. Now their leader was in a hospital bed.
Ruby sighed and wiped her tears and nodded. "We… don't exactly know what they are. There are many kinds. Hundreds. Maybe even thousands… we call them anomalies. Instances of… supernatural occurences. Sometimes they're harmless. But almost all of the time they're dangerous."
"Anomalies…?" Weiss looked disturbed.
"Supernatural? You mean like ghosts and magic and stuff? You're joking right?" Yang's head began to hurt.
"I wish I was… it all started during the missions. Ozpin and the other teachers were perturbed by the things that team JNPR had encountered. It was revealed that many of these instances had been happening all over the world. Jaune told me that the Headmasters began to convene with other headmasters about this issue. More and more proof came. Often having the people involved go insane after encountering these anomalies and survive. They figured that these entities may have a mind altering effect on people…" Ruby looked to Nora.
"...people except for Jaune…" Ruby turned her head to Jaune and caressed his resting face.
Everyone was quiet.
"For some reason he was immune to the mind altering effects of these anomalies. Incidents lessened and people were saved because of him. The headmasters kept giving him missions that involved these things as long as he was provided with whatever he needed." Ruby clenched her fist.
"What about you?" Weiss walked closer to Ruby. "You also disappear from time to time."
Ruby sighed. "Just like Jaune, I too have my… responsibilities… but it isn't something like Jaune's… situation." Ruby paused. "But right now… all we have is each other. I'm just glad that I'm able to ease him…"
Pyrrha looked sad at Ruby words. Blake shuffled uncomfortably.
"The headmasters also give me missions from time to time. But most of the time I go train." Ruby stood up and got a glass of water for herself.
"For what?" Pyrrha asked.
Ruby only stared at her for a few minutes. She contemplated whether to tell them or not.
Before anyone could say anything a loud shrill sound was heard by everyone. It was painful to the ears. It sounded like a whistle. A loud horrible whistle. Everyone tried to cover their ears in vain. Ruby turned to the window and saw that somehow the sky had turned purple then red. One by one they all fell unconscious.

They all woke up groggily at the same time. When they saw that they were in a large room. The floor was covered in an expensive looking carpet. They looked around and saw that they were in a very large theatre.
"Where are we?" Pyrrha asked looking around.
"What is all this?" Nora asked as she inspected the seats.
"Miss Nikos? Miss Valkyrie?" A voice behind them asked.
They were all startled. They looked behind them and saw their teachers and a few people also here with them. Said people were Ozpin, Glynda, Oobleck, Port , Sun, Neptune and a few people that they don't know. They all looked as confused as they are. Then the questions started to come. Anger in others, frustration in some and all were anxious. The students began to argue on what to do. It was becoming tense and loud. They didn't notice a person standing in front of the screen not facing them. Ruby was the first one to face the person. She tried to call out but the noise drowned her voice.
"SHUT UP!" Ruby shouted instantly making everyone pause. It was here that they noticed the person.
She walked towards the person. It was or looked like a woman in a white dress. Her hair was blonde. Ruby couldn't see her face because she was turned. The woman was holding a staff which was adorned with jewels and gold.
"Excuse me…" Ruby tried to talk to the woman.
The woman turned to Ruby. Her face was beautiful though a blindfold covered her eyes.
"Welcome…dear guests…" her voice was cool and soft.
Ruby and the others went silent.
"Guests? Were you the one who abducted us?" Ozpin walked beside Ruby.
"No. That was the Argenta herself. She has willed you to be here." The woman spoke in a respectful manner.
"Why has this… Argenta taken us here." Ruby asked choosing to be respectful to the mysterious entity rather than rash.
"Because a man named Jaune Arc has bargained with her." The entity answered.
The people at the back began to ask questions. It was becoming noisy again. Until the entity raised her hand.
"One at a time please…"
"Where's Jaune?!" Pyrrha tried to run to the entity but was stopped by an invisible wall.
"He is currently with the Argenta herself. She is healing him. Preparing him."
"Preparing him for what?" Ruby asked in a stern tone.
"...to fulfil his bargain."
The words chilled Ruby and Ozpin.
"What bargain?" Blake spoke as she walked beside Pyrrha.
"To restore your world. In exchange for service."
"Our world? Please elabo...rate…" Ozpin spoke but his words trailed off when the screen came turned on.
What greeted everyone was a still image of the city of Vale… it showed that the sky had turned red, giant fleshy tentacles came down from the sky. They could also see chunks of flesh falling down from the sky. It didn't take long to realize that these chunks of flesh had mouths and disproportionate limbs. The image then changed to Mistral then Vale then Vacuo. All were having the same situations as Vale. Though with differing variations. Vacuo showed giant humanoids crawling towards the city. Mistral showed varying creatures swarming the city. Atlas showed the city being enveloped by a black substance and the moon was replaced by a giant Eye.
"No…" Ruby put a hand on her mouth.
The people in the theatre began to panic. Some vomited.
"Your world is breaking apart. The Argenta herself has frozen your universe's time. Do not worry."
"What is all this?!" Ironwood walked towards the invisible wall and slammed a fist on it. "What has happened to Atlas?!"
"It was about to die. Do not worry. Time will reset. The Argenta will purge the anomalies in your world. As per request."
"What is the Argenta?" Winter Schnee spoke beside Ironwood.
"The Argenta is the curator and guardian of your universe. She guards the boundaries so no outside beings enter your universe. She can not directly interfere with Remnant itself like disasters and grimm, as much as she would want to wipe them out, as they are natural forces in your universe."
"If she was the guardian then why is all this happening?!" Ruby angrily asked.
"Even she herself is perplexed. There was supposed to be balance. But something had somehow escaped her notice. She has been trying to rid the universe of these… plague. But she could not directly affect remnant without a proxy."
"Proxy?"
"Your gods were adamant on keeping remnant as is."
Ozpin looked angered. But Ruby continued on her questions.
"That proxy was Jaune Arc. He has proven time after time to be effective in dealing with the anomalies. She has contacted him at some point and offered him a bargain."
"So she offered Jaune to be her champion… in exchange for restoring our world."
The woman nodded.
"Okay… so why are we here?"
"You all were exposed to him the most and thus giving you the same immunity to reality altering instances including the influence of the Argenta herself though only minor. You all would have been the only ones moving as time in your world has frozen. All of this is an effort to let you all relax as the Argenta and Jaune Arc rid the pestilence that plagues your universe as if you were left on remnant, you all would have lost your sanity."
Everyone seemed to have calmed down and accepted the words.
"The Argenta herself will come here at a later time to address further concerns. Please take a seat and make yourselves comfortable."
Everyone complied and went to choose respective seats. Preferably close to their friends and allies.
"Now let me explain the things about this theatre. Behind me is a screen that shows multiverses, alternate realities and possible futures that has been converted and edited to resemble various media and television entertainment. It could either be a movie, a series, or a trailer depending on the universe. Note that trailer type screenings have a chance to become full screenings though it would take a long time. As of right now it's on shuffle. Later you will be given the choice to vote where you'd like to see either An alternate universe, a possible future, past events, or Jaune Arc's mission logs. Due to the nature of this device, Jaune Arc being a constant to all universes means that it will only view words through his and his alternate selves' perspective. Also note that Possible futures are not set in stone. There are many possible futures depending on what happens. And these are futures that are possible if the invading anomalies are eradicated and continued existence is achieved ."
The screen changed to show different colored diamonds.
"Red for alternate universes, Green for possible futures, Orange for past events, and blue for mission logs. You can view past missions on mission logs and the current progress of the eradication of the pestilence. These crystals will signify which categories the current screening belongs to. Mission logs can be requested in document form."
Weiss raised her hand to ask a question to which the woman nodded.
"Is it only Jaune's perspective?"
"Yes." A few showed disinterest and disappointment.
"So we're watching realities like movies? Why?" Weiss continued.
"So you can learn. There are a lot of things you can learn in these realities. Of Jaune Arc and yourselves. It may give you a chance to reflect to reminisce. Some of them may even be entertaining and amusing. Some might even be heartbreaking or heartwarming."
"What about food?" Yang asked.
"There is a button on the armrests. Press it and a holographic screen will pop up along with a few applications for you to use. . Tap the request application and type in anything you wish. Be it food, beverages, books, medical supplies. Anything. It will be sent to you immediately."
People started to test the application and tried to order various food and drinks. Blake ordered some books. The back of the theatre was a door that opened. Wisps of light came floating inside the theater carrying round ball-like things. He wisps approached the people that ordered things. The wisps seeing the lack of table, pressed a button on the armchairs of the people. A glass-like table appeared over the laps of the people who ordered things to which the wisps carefully placed the balls on the tables and the balls glowed before popping out and replaced by the items and food that they ordered.
"Woah…" Yang looked at her order of 'high grade steak from the best steakhouse in remnant'
Everyone else had the same reaction as they looked at their orders.
"What about a place to sleep? To rest?" Glynda raised her hand.
"For recreational activities, you can simply walk out of the theatre. There you will find yourself at a high class five star hotel that is situated in a pocket dimension. There are beaches and swimming pools if you so want to visit and relax. There is also a forest area for the adventuring types. Libraries are also available and will be updated depending on how many worlds you will view. Individual rooms are also available and are designed according to the preferences of the owners. There will also be special screening rooms for people who desire private screenings. You can invite other people if you choose."
Someone whistled from the back.
"Hell of a vacation." Everyone turned to the person revealing to be none other than Qrow Branwen with his partner Taiyang.
"Uncle Qrow?" Boh Ruby and Yang said in unison.
"Yeah I'm here too. Went on a few missions with the kid." Qrow to a swig off a bottle of high class rum. "As she said. The missions the kid does... It's not safe for people's sanity."
"As of right now though it is still at 85% completion. In the meanwhile the first screening is about to start. Please make yourselves comfortable."
All looked at the holoscreen in front of them.
...
The red crystal enlarged in the middle of the screen and a bar appeared below it. The words 'loading' displayed as the bar began to get 'filled-up'.
"An alternate universe? This should be interesting…" Ren spoke as he ordered some popcorn for Nora.
"Wonder what it's like… an alternate universe…" Pyrrha stared at the screen though her mind and heart were still worried for their leader.
The people in the theatre did not know what to expect. Some imagined an alien world. Some imagined a parallel world.
[ Loading Complete. Initiating Universe Viewing ]
[ ...! ]
[ Error encountered. Parallel events to Argent Prime Universe detected. Show Prime version? Y/N ]
"What happened?" People looked amongst the others then to the woman.
"Oh dear… it seems a similar event has happened to your universe. The device's algorithms are still quite new but I can assure you all that what's being shown is accurate."
"What do we do?" Ruby asked.
"The conflict triggered the choice option. You may choose to view either your universe's event or view the current universe. Open your hologram prompts. And select either yes or no. All your choices shall be tallied and it will go through a voting system. Argent Prime is your universe."
And with that... the people began to make their choices.

Jaune Arc stared into the beautiful expanse of space. The galaxy taking different shades of vibrant colors. Jaune took a deep breath.
"They're safe now?" He asked.
"Yes. They have calmed down now. Though others still are anxious and guarded." A female voice spoke from behind.
"What about my family?"
"Your family is currently along with the frozen Remnant. You weren't with them much when your ability manifested so I had to make a few loopholes to have them being sent here."
Jaune just nodded.
"Are you ready for your first mission?" The voice asked.
"I am…"
Suddenly a portal opened right in front of him. He gripped his sword as he stared at the portal.
"Be careful…" The voice spoke.
"I will… be back in a bit… and thank you. For everything." He smiled at the entity behind him before entering the portal.
/ To Be Continued /
AN: Reaction fics are a good way to write ideas so I decided to make one. Seeing as I have about a dozen drafts of crossovers/ ideas/ and fics of fics. The one who hunts is one of Them.
The reason why I summaried the story was because all Reaction stories never portray their own universe's events, being it past or present, all of the time it would be other universes and word of mouth from the characters leaving no characterization to Jaune at all leaving an ambiguous shell of blandness. I've also incorporated individual screening rooms so that the parents can't see some of the more raunchy screenings of their daughters and most of the time it will only involve friend groups and such. It always made me cringe at how some fics actively have their parents watch their daughter copulate with Jaune. Parents and other adults too will have their own private screenings. OCs from their own universe will also appear and all will have some connection to Jaune Arc. Jaune Arc won't be too obnoxious or overly flirty as I've modeled him as more mature due to the circumstances of their world. Same with Ruby. More characters will appear soon as well as the villains. All of the screenings will have Jaune Arc as the PROTAGONIST of the universe or story.
Seeing as there are different categories. If you have a request or a suggestion to a world, please PM me. Put a category whether it will be
ALTERNATE UNIVERSE,
PARALLEL UNIVERSE,
POSSIBLE FUTURE,
PAST EVENTS,
MISSION LOGS (MONSTER ENCOUNTERS OR ANOMALOUS EVENT SUGGESTIONS).
No Naruto
No DBZ
No One Piece
No Call of Duty
No Halo
No Joker
I find these all overdone and boring to read. No offense to the people who like those. Just my preference.
Oh yeah, this will be a harem. It's more fun that way. Though it would be slowburning. Sorry to the non-harem fans.
AN 2: Both One winged destiny and The one who Hunts will be updated soon. I understand that I've never updated the two as frequently as others. Writer's block can be a bitch. I got a draft for OWD and a finished chapter 3 for TOWH I'm just in the middle of deciding if this chapter is coherent to the plot.
The first viewing will be in a few hours. Hope you liked the prologue.
Thank you for reading. Reviews and comments are much appreciated.
