Just something that popped into my head one evening and I decided to write, mostly to keep my writing muscles from withering.
This is just a fun little one shot.
A Golden, Dynamic Encounter
The beautiful scenery of Naples never failed to bring a smile to Giorno's face. The waterways reflected the sunset perfectly, showering the surrounding buildings, people, and streets with an orange hue. The blonde teen watched as the people below him interacted. Some were on dates that could have been going better, others were messing around with friends while some simply sat and enjoyed a book with a cup of steaming tea.
With a sigh, Giorno wished he could join them on the concrete streets. But this thought died rather quick when he looked down at his attire. Pure black, with green ladybug buttons sitting next to his exposed chest.
This was his life now as the boss of Passione.
To get close to strangers would reveal too much and could open both him, his friends and innocents to an assassination attempt.
He looked down at his hands, a milky blue aura surrounding them as he brought his will to life in the form of his Stand.
Gold Experience Requiem.
The gold and white humanoid blinked to life, seeming to be on the lookout as Giorno observed his Stand. It had been one month since that day. One month since the tides of fate rested on the shore of destiny and led to him reigning victorious over the Boss. But even then, he still had no idea what Gold Experience Requiem did.
And that scared him somewhat.
All he knew was that it was extremely powerful and had been invulnerable, seemingly, to King Crimson's time erasing ability. But this was all he knew. What exactly it had done to Diavolo was still a mystery to him.
The last letter he had received from Trish had been a tear stained confession that the poor girl sometimes woke up in the middle of the night, believing that her father was hanging above her bed, due to still feeling his presence, waiting to kill her.
Mista had been more than willing to go visit and check on her, but Giorno was hesitant. He had decided to let Trish live a normal life, afraid that the chaos and darkness of the mob world would do nothing but strangle the chance of the peaceful life she deserved. He had tried his best to fight back the tears of joy when she wrote to him that she had become a pop star, but he had failed.
But still, he had agreed and allowed his friend to visit her. If only to give himself some time alone with his thoughts. It was a luxury not even the funds of the mob could supply him these days, given his constant duties of managing the gang's finances, picking capos, etc.
Giorno observed his Stand for a moment longer before calling it back, the warmth returning to his soul.
"Hey there!"
An unfamiliar, jovial voice made him immediately call out his Stand again and whirl around, prepared for almost anything. Behind him stood a tall, muscular, and strange looking man. His hair was black, spikey and seemed to be shooting in every direction, like a bad case of bed head. He wore what appeared to be a training gi of sorts, the kind Giorno had seen in martial arts films, but it was orange in color and had a strange symbol on it he did not recognize. He also wore a blue belt along with matching boots and wristbands. He appeared shirtless underneath it all.
Giorno had many questions.
"Who are you? How did you get here?" He asked, looking behind the man to see that the glass door that lead back inside the mansion remained shut. Giorno had not heard the door open. Was this a part of the man's Stand ability?
The man retained his casual smile, raising a hand in greeting.
"My name's Goku! And as for how I got here," He turned his gaze skyward "I flew here after I sensed an enormous power! But um…" The orange loving man put a hand to his chin, looking Giorno up and down "You don't look that strong."
Giorno sharpened his gaze. Flying? Sensed?
"Are those your Stand abilities?"
The man named Goku tilted his head.
"Stand ability?" He crossed his arms and looked thoughtful, closing his eyes "I mean, I can do a lot of abilities standing still. Like punching, kicking, firing a ki blast, stuff like that."
He then demonstrated, throwing a few punches and kicks so fast that the blonde teen barely had time to register they had even happened.
Giorno deduced one thing immediately.
If this man was a Stand user, he was either dumber than a bag full of rocks at the bottom of the Sarno for confronting him face to face, all the while giving him several openings to take advantage of, or he was a genius who had everything planned already and was amazingly confident.
"Say, what's your name?" Goku asked, almost innocently it seemed.
"Giving you my name would be pointless. I hate things that are pointless." Giorno halfway sighed, halfway groaned. As he talked, Giorno moved GER to the left of him, watching Goku's disappointment filled eyes as his Stand floated closer.
"Oh, come on! I gave you my name, why can't you tell me-"
"As I said, it's pointless. You have five seconds to leave."
GER was almost in front of Goku's face, but the man did not seem to react at all to the presence. As a final test, he willed GER to throw a punch at Goku, stopping short of hitting him.
Goku's collar and hair was blown back slightly from the force of the punch, making the strange man put his guard up immediately.
"What was that? Did you attack me?" Goku asked in shock, narrowing his eyes at Giorno "Wow, it must have been awful fast! I didn't even see you move!"
This peaked Giorno's curiosity considerably. Was this man not a Stand user? Giorno observed Goku get into a fighting stance and smirk.
"Alright, you have to spar with me now!"
Giorno sighed, summoning GER in front of him.
"Please leave, I am giving you one more-"
Suddenly, Goku charged, leaping at the blonde teen. Leap was a stretch, however, as it seemed more like he was flying toward him, Giorno noticed.
But it didn't matter.
This battle was over.
Son Goku felt his blood pumping as he charged at the nameless teenager. Whatever this kid was capable of must have been incredible, not even Whis moved so fast that he appeared to stand completely still! Goku tightened his fist and let out a yell, aiming to punch the young man in the face. He was not going full power, of course, since he wanted to size the lad up and see how he handled his base form.
But then, Goku suddenly found himself standing perfectly still.
He looked around, curious as to what had happened. What had he been doing again? Where was he?
He met eyes with the nameless boy from before, tilting his head when he saw him. He didn't feel any energy coming from the boy now, which was odd to him. Was he hiding his power?
"Wow, what happened?" He asked. The boy shook his head.
"It's pointless trying to attack me. Please, leave."
Goku searched his memory. He believed that he had tried to attack the boy, so why didn't it connect?
"Weird, I could swear I tried to hit you!" Goku said, laughing a bit. He smirked as he got into position "Alright, here I come again!"
Goku kicked off the ground, shattering the marble tile beneath his feet as he charged. He reared his first back and went to strike at the eerily calm boy.
He blinked and found himself right back across from the blonde once more, just as confused as ever. Goku shook his head and patted his cheeks, hyping himself up and getting back in the moment.
"Alright then, let me try this!"
Goku placed a hand on his forehead and used his Instant Transmission technique, vanishing from sight. Goku's world went black for a moment, which was not unusual for the technique, and he could still sense the faint energy coming from the black wearing teen. It was enough for him to appear behind him and let a kick fly, sending it right for his head.
At least, that is what he thought had happened.
But for whatever reason, Goku found himself standing before the teen once again with as much of a clue as he had…
What was he doing again?
Giorno was amazed at Goku's movements and abilities. The man almost seemed super human, being able to fly, teleport and firing some kind of blue energy from his hands. Something he noticed as well was how Goku seemed to have some kind of aura reverberating from his skin, similar somewhat to Stand auras.
This was most noticeable during his transformations, his hair going from blonde, to red, to blue, his aura changing colors along with his dyed hair.
It even went white at one point.
And through it all, he never saw a hint of a Stand.
But no matter what the man attempted; he would always be reset back to where he began with his hair back to normal. Back to zero. Giorno had been watching his Stand closely during all this, but the golden being was just as stoic as he was.
But no matter how many times Goku charged, Giorno would not command Requiem to strike. He did not know what fate befell Diavolo, but he knew it was one suited only for the worst kinds of people. Those who dared to play with the threads of fate like a child. Goku seemed simple, but a good and jolly person none the less. Whatever Gold Experience Requiem did when it hit something, he would not hit Goku unless he had to.
Which would appear to be never.
After Goku was reset one last time, looking less confused and more irritated than before, Giorno took a step forward.
"I'm afraid you cannot win, Goku."
Goku recovered his senses upon being acknowledged and took another stance, tightening his focus.
"Just you wait, I just haven't had the chance to-"
Giorno held up his hand, making Goku pause. Not out of respect, more like he had been expecting an attack and put his guard up. But the attack never came, as Giorno let a smile cross his face.
"My Stand, Gold Experience Requiem, has the ability to set things back to a state of zero. Meaning, that no matter what you attack me with, it will never reach the truth. The truth of reality, that is."
Goku's eyebrows rose and he relaxed, crossing his arms as he seemed to think about this.
"Reset to...zero?" Goku asked, trying to wrap his brain around Giorno's words "So it makes it like my attacks never happened?"
Giorno nodded "Something along those lines, yes."
This made Goku hum to himself thoughtfully "So, in other words…"
"It's pointless." Giorno finished for him.
Goku mulled this over and let out a deep sigh and rubbed the back of his head, his expression one of embarrassment.
"Wow! That is a really strong ability! You might even be able to beat Lord Beerus with that!" He laughed. Giorno tilted his head and raised his brow. Before he could question who this Beerus individual was, Goku continued "Still, it's kind of a bummer. I was hoping for a good fight."
Giorno's brow did not fall "Why?"
"Why?" Goku parroted, smiling brighter "Because fighting strong guys is a lot of fun! As a bonus, it usually helps me get stronger too!"
Giorno did his best to analyze Goku's expression and body language for any sign of deceit. He did not find any on the open book that was this strange warrior. Giorno took a moment to stare at the man, his bewilderment growing.
Then he laughed.
For the first time in a while, he covered his face and laughed heartily into his palm. Goku regarded Giorno curiously, crossing his arms once more.
"I'm sorry," Giorno said in between chuckles "It's just that your enthusiasm reminds me of a friend I had once."
"Really?" Goku questioned, his enthusiasm growing again "Are they strong too?"
Giorno's smile faltered slightly as he gazed at his navel, the memories of his shaggy haired, orange bandanna wearing friend and comrade moving to the forefront of his mind.
"He was, yes. In both ability and spirit."
Goku opened his mouth to ask more, but quickly understood what the blonde boy was talking about. He lowered his head in respect.
"Oh…I'm sorry."
A moment of silence passed over the balcony before Goku saw an extended arm come into his view. He rose his head to meet the mob leader's smiling face.
"My name is Giorno. Giorno Giovanna."
Goku happily took his hand, nodding to the now named teen.
"Nice to meet you, Giorno!"
Over the hour, the duo discussed many things. Giorno had offered tea, but Goku had requested a hearty meal before talking.
Goku divulged the source of his abilities, a life force called Ki. When questioned about how it worked, the warrior acted as if he himself did not know. "You just believe you can do it, and you do it!" was what he had said, which made Giorno curious. Were there others who had these abilities?
"Of course!" Goku said, elaborating "My friends can all do it! But unfortunately, some of them have been really slacking on their training and have fallen behind a bit. My buddy Krillin caught up recently but my friend Tien isn't near as strong as Krillen. He trains every day too, maybe even more than me, which makes it kinda confusing why he isn't stronger."
Goku had laughed at this and Giorno had chuckled along with him. A power source that is made stronger by training the body and spirit. It was an attractive prospect, Giorno had to admit, if slightly terrifying.
Then Goku asked about Stands.
"Is it like an energy source? Why not just call it Stand?" He questioned, making Giorno shake his head as he finished a sip of tea.
"Stands are physical manifestations of the user's spirit and will." Giorno began, summoning Gold Experience Requiem next to him "Given this, all Stands are unique to the user with abilities that tend to reflect the user's personality."
"Ooohh I see! Well, actually I don't." Goku rubbed his chin, then looked around Giorno while blinking "I take it only a Stand user can see a Stand?"
Giorno nodded, surprised at Goku's quick grasp on the subject.
"Gotcha. Wow, Stands are pretty interesting! But…" Goku paused, thinking his words over carefully "With an ability like yours, Giorno, no one can ever challenge you." Giorno nodded as Goku gave him a look of uncertainty "Man, I couldn't stand that. I would be so bored!"
The blonde chuckled, finishing off his tea with one final tilt of the head.
"If I could have fought more people as honorable and enthusiastic as you, Goku, I assure you I might get bored as well." Giorno titled his head to look to the sky, the purple and red hues of day nearly giving way to the black of night "But the battles I went through were life or death, where one mistake could have cost me or my comrades their lives."
Giorno touched the brim of his teacup, the aura of Requiem surrounding it as it began to morph. Goku watched in awe as the cup quickly transformed into a rotund mouse that leapt from the table and crawled onto Giorno's shoulder, turning to look at the bed headed fighter.
"In other words, Requiem would not need to exist if I had inhabited the same environment you do, Goku."
Son Goku looked to the mouse and back to Giorno, slowly taking in the boy's words. Eventually, Goku nodded and went to stand up.
"Welp, that's about all the time I have left I think." Goku stretched, letting out a yawn "All this thinking got me tired. Thanks for showing me your power, Giorno!"
Raising a brow, Giorno was about to ask what the warrior meant before he noticed Goku's body beginning to become ethereal, like he was being pulled from this reality and back into another.
"I hope we can fight again sometime! See ya later!"
A goodbye stopped on his tongue, the strange man disappearing before it could be released. Giorno turned his eyes to the darkened sky, the moon just showing itself as the sun finally sat behind the horizon.
He smiled and made his way to the balcony doors.
"Arrivederci, Son Goku."
