SAKURA AND VERSACE

06

FALLEN DOWN

Two weeks after the baseball game and Sakura admitting to herself that Naruto was in fact her boyfriend, she and Naruto were officially finishing up his interview for his highlights section of the newspaper. Sakura was pretty sure somebody else would interview him as the baseball season finished up and came to an end, but she was glad her portion of it was completed.

"So that's it?" Naruto questioned from beside her, laying on his back as he eyed the notepad in her hand. Sakura shrugged as she read over it, "Pretty much. Somebody else will come to interview you for the last weeks of the season but my job is done."

"Last weeks of the season?"

"Yeah, they're gonna ask stuff like 'if you plan to pursue baseball' or 'what colleges do you have lined up', simple things like that."

Naruto scratched his head in thought, "I always forget I graduate this year, it just kinda slips my mind somehow." Sakura had to agree, Naruto graduating and leaving her never crossed her mind because she didn't allow it to. With the amount of connection and bond they had established in such a short amount of time, Sakura didn't want to sour what they had. Because when Naruto left she would still have a year of high school left, while he went on with his life and left her behind.

"Any big dreams after you graduate?" Sakura asked softly and Naruto hummed in answer, "My godfather plans to train me to take over his company."

"The one that writes the Icha Icha Paradise books? That godfather?" Sakura snorted into her arm. Naruto rolled his eyes, "Jiraiya is a pervert there's no doubt about it, but he isn't that bad."

"If that helps you sleep at night," Sakura rolls her eyes and clammers off of the unkempt bed as her stomach growls. "Do you have something in the cabinets other than instant ramen," When Naruto doesn't answer immediately she groans, "I'll just order pizza."

"Pepperoni extra cheese!" Naruto yelled after her as she disappeared in the kitchen for the apartment's house phone. A quick call later, Sakura leaned against the counter in some strange exhaustion in her heart.

She quickly pins it on the internal monologue she'd had about Naruto. About how quickly she was depending on the boy and how much that actually scared her. But it was best she didn't dwell on it and Sakura realized it, so she pushed it to the back of her mind and went to join Naruto in his room.

"Thirty minutes or we get a free pizza."

MOON RIVER

Sakura took her time getting dressed after her gym class had ended. Guy had forced her to participate in the weekly game of girls volleyball so Sakura was exhausted. She was so slow, she was the last person out of the school showers and the last to get to her locker.

The problem came when Sakura noticed her locker was open. She'd never taken the initiative to get a lock simply because even though she barely knew some of the girls in her gym class, she didn't have a problem with any of them. But by the way her locker was looking, they had a problem with her.

It looked like a tornado had rampaged her things, everything she had was either destroyed or all over the floor.

Stepping over her mutilated things, Sakura immediately noticed her bag was missing. Her bag with her pills she had yet to take for the day. Stepping around the things as if it was a ball of snakes, Sakura almost tip-toed out of the locker room and into the empty gym. Glad no one was around to see the breakdown that was building up in the pit of her stomach, Sakura pushed her back against the wall and slid down.

Even as she willed them away, tears built up in her eyes. Who would do this? Sakura had never bullied anybody, never hurt anybody, so who would take something that her mentally stability depended on? Maybe it was a prank but with the way she was feeling the joke was far funny.

Dialing her mother was difficult with shaking fingers, but Sakura did it. Breathing heavily, Sakura listened to the dial tone before her mother's voice came through the speaker, "Honey? It's the middle of the school day, is everything ok?"

"Somebody stole my medication," She wailed into the phone, "They went into my locker and took it,"

Sakura could hear her mother shuffling about before the familiar sound of keys jingling, "Where are you and how far are you from the school's main entrance?"

Her heart throbbing painfully, Sakura pushed herself onto her feet, "I'm in the gym, it's the building next to the main building."

"Get to the office, I'll be there in ten minutes." Her mother hangs up and Sakura breathes out a heavy sigh. Between the pit that was building up in her stomach and the hard throbbing behind her rib cage, Sakura knew she wouldn't make it to the office, no matter how short the walk was.

She slid back down to her knees faster than she got up on her feet. The headache came as quickly as she hit the floor, a dark black void developing behind her eyelids steady and bleeding pain into her head.

Vaguely, Sakura could hear the gym doors open and a terrified but masculine gasp. "Sakura-Chan?" She immediately shook her head, albeit lazily. He was too loud, making the pounding in her head spike dangerously.

"Gods Sakura, what happened?!" Her name sounded weird without the 'Chan', at least coming from Naruto's mouth. The haze was growing heavier and Sakura's need to just go to sleep was getting worse

"Office,"She says desPite the literal pain it causes her in her head, "My mom is in the office."

"And you need to get there right? For her to help you?" Sakura could only hear the tone in his voice, the fear. And Sakura's heart hurted for a different reason, she was embarrassing him. She wished she could apologize but pain had over took her head, and she lost conscious.

Thank you to everyone that left reviews, bookmarked, and/or favorited :)

I'm simply gonna admit the fact that I was struggling with this chapter, there are more than six versions of this specific chapter so it's safe to say it threw me for a very big loop. So while this is the published version I still don't fully like it, but I am gonna publish it while some part of me still finds it readable. I also wanna point out we've made it to 25 reviews, and 45 follows so thank you all so much !

Until next time, which will hopefully be sooner rather than later !
