Hi! This is a slightly AU story set at the beginning of season 3 (more specifically, around 3x03) when Lincoln is on the run. What happens when Daisy finds him sick? They lay low together while she nurses him back to health. What could possibly go wrong? They're both Inhumans, right?

~I DO NOT OWN AGENTS OF SHIELD OR MARVEL~

"What's wrong, Lincoln?!" Daisy asked him frantically when he called her.

"I...I need help," he replied. She might've heard him wrong, but Daisy could've sworn his nose sounded congested.

"Are you okay?" she asked, but before he could reply, he ended the call.

"We need to go," Daisy told Coulson and Mack.

Once they got to the apartment, Mack and Daisy were careful not to be spotted by the ATCU. Daisy had been able to trace Lincoln's exact location form the phone call, so she headed there while Mack stood guard in case of the ATCU.

"Lincoln?" Daisy said quietly as she entered the empty apartment.

"Daisy?" He popped out from behind a wall.

He looked terrible. His nose was red, he had bags under his eyes, and he looked like he could use some sleep.

"Lincoln!" Daisy exclaimed happily as she shut the apartment door behind her. Lincoln grabbed her arm and pulled her into the room he'd been hiding in.

He buried his face in his hands. "Daisy, I...I killed him. I killed John, I..."

Daisy was taken aback a little. She quickly brushed it away, compartmentalizing. "That wasn't your fault. Let us help you."

Lincoln met her eyes. "No. No us. Just you. No SHIELD, just Daisy."

Daisy nodded. "Okay, okay."

She sighed and settled into the chair next to Lincoln. "Are you okay?" she asked, putting a hand on his shoulder.

He bit his lip and leaned away from her to cough. "I think I might be a little sick."

"A little?" Daisy quipped. "You look like a train wreck, my friend."

He smiled a tiny smile. "I guess I do."

"Hey," she said, meeting his eyes. "They're hunting you. Let me take you somewhere where you can lay low, get better, and then I'll take you to SHIELD. Let us take you in."

"Hold your horses," he told her as he stood up. "We start with you helping me get better. Let's not think about SHIELD just yet."

Daisy side-smiled. "Okay. I can do that."

Daisy led him carefully out of the small room. She tapped her earpiece. "Mack?" she whispered. "I have Lincoln. He's sick. I'm going to take him somewhere safe."

"Be careful," her partner warned. "They're hunting both of you."

"What?" Daisy asked, a little panicked.

"They have your photo. They're looking for you, too now."

"But that wasn't the plan," Daisy insisted.

"It doesn't matter to them. Just get out of here before they get to you."

"Copy that," Daisy said.

"What was that?" Lincoln whispered as Daisy opened the apartment door.

"Mack, my partner. They're looking for both of us now."

"Wondrous," Lincoln said sarcastically.

The pair slipped out the door and started down the hallway.

"STOP RIGHT THERE!" came a male voice. Daisy groaned and turned around to see a group of ATCU agents. "HANDS IN THE AIR!"

Daisy now recognized the man as Banks. She rolled her eyes but raised her hands nonetheless, and Lincoln followed. "This is uncalled for," Daisy told the agents. She motioned to Lincoln. "He's sick and I'm just trying to help him. I've got this. I can help him control himself."

Banks straightened his stance, his gun still pointed at the Inhuman pair. "I highly doubt you're qualified for that. Besides, we can't trust you; you're an Inhuman yourself."

Daisy mumbled a few curse words under her breath. "Leave us be, and we won't hurt you."

"I'm afraid we can't do that," Banks said.

"Then we can't either," Lincoln told them, sending electric pulses into the floor. The ATCU agents dropped to the floor in pain.

"Come on," Daisy said. "Let's go."

The pair rushed out of the apartment complex, and Lincoln showed Daisy where John's car was. Daisy drove them out of the area.

Lincoln stared at the run-down buildings passing by.

"You okay?" Daisy asked him, concern present on her face.

He sighed and nodded. "I could use some medicine right now." He started to cough, making it hard to get a clean breath of air. Daisy rushed to roll the passenger side window down to let some air in.

"I would take you to a hospital if I could, but you're kind of a fugitive still. SHIELD is working on clearing your name, but it won't be easy. We'll have to lay low for at least a few days." She watched him sigh and close his eyes. She could tell he was in no shape to be fighting right now. "Look, Lincoln, I have a friend..." She was referencing to Bobbi. "...who can walk me through healing you. We can figure this out, I promise."

Lincoln just nodded to acknowledge he was listening.

"How is he?" Bobbi asked Daisy. The latter had called the former for medical advice. She had settled in a motel a few hours south from the apartment. Lincoln was asleep on the bed.

Daisy sighed. "I'm not sure, Bobbi. He seems like he...he..." She scoffed. "I don't know what's causing this."

"What are his symptoms?" Bobbi wanted to know as she grabbed a scrap piece of paper and pen to write it down.

"Well, he's clearly congested, and he's coughing a lot. He complained a little of body aches and he's tired all the time."

"Hmm," Bobbi said, thinking. "It sounds a lot like the flu, but you Inhumans usually don't get sick unless it's transmitted from another Inhuman."

"Do you think it's possible he's come into contact with another Inhuman who was sick?" Daisy thought out loud.

"You'll have to ask him, but that would be the most logical explanation. Although, as far as I know, you're the only Inhuman he's been near the past few days."

"Well, obviously I'm not sick, so it couldn't have been me."

"There's no good way of knowing. But for now, let's focus on getting him better. Do you think you have access to a drug store nearby? That would be very helpful."

"Yes, there's one near the gas station."

"Good. You need to get a thermometer and fever-reducing drugs, as well as coughing medicine and anything that might make him more comfortable."

"Copy that. Anything else I need to know?"

"Not that I can think of. Please be careful, Daisy."

I hope you all liked this! I'm sorry I haven't been updating on my other stories, I've just had this awful writer's block that I can't seem to shake. Thanks for being here anyway 3
