Mr. Potter

Summary: It's the summer after Harry's second-year at Hogwarts. He hears a bump-in-the-night. Finally, there's someone there to rescue him. He never expected his rescuer to be… himself.
Prologue
Harry stirred in his bed. There was a strange sound coming from the kitchen downstairs. He wondered if it was Dudley sneaking to the refrigerator for a mid-night snack.
Dudley received a letter earlier that summer about his weight. The letter did not exactly say that, "Dudley was too large to be allowed," but it did say something to that affect. As a result, Dudley was on a diet that his Aunt Petunia regulated with the utmost seriousness. Dudley ate nothing but a strict diet of carrots, peas, and mixed-green salads.
Harry heard more shuffling from downstairs. Then, he heard a strange voice as the voice cursed to himself.
"That doesn't sound like Dudley," thought Harry to himself. "Maybe it's one of the Weasley's. Maybe they're here to break-me-out of this jail cell."
Harry heard more sounds of footsteps. Then, he heard a voice right outside of his bedroom door.
"Here it is… just like it was," said a strange man's voice. There was the tell-tale sound of the man as he waved his wand. Harry was surprised when the door opened despite the locks that were placed on it by his uncle.
A familiar face greeted him from the darkness of the hallway.
"Hey, kid," said a man with dark-black hair. The man had wild green eyes. He wore glasses that were similar to Harry's own glasses.
"Who are you?" asked Harry.
"That's a long story," said the man.
Harry sat on a bench at the park closest to his home with the Dursley's. Harry enjoyed the fresh-air outside. He sat with the strange man that rescued him from his locked room.
"So, let me get this straight," said Harry. "You're me from the future?"
"Yes. That's the long and short of it," said the other-Harry.
"Well, what are you doing here?" asked this-world's-Harry.
The man chuckled. "I'm here to change some things," said the man.
"What? Are you going to jump into me and take over my body or something?" said Harry with a rueful grin.
The man shrugged. "I thought about that… but I think I'd like to adopt you instead."
"Huh," said Harry. "I'm strangely okay with that."
