Chapter 1: Alone Against the World
Ronald Adrian Stoppable, Kim Possible's partner and best friends since pre-k, felt depressed, lower than any other point he has ever felt in his life. Even his time at Camp Wannaweep hadn't made him feel as depressed as now. And the reason for this depressed state was something she knew would eventually happen, but she still found it hard to believe that her best friend and world-renowned teenage heroine Kim Possible ... had a boyfriend.
It wasn't entirely surprising to Ron; he knew that Kim would eventually have a suitable one. She had dated Josh Mankey for a few months before they decided to separate and start dating this new pretty boy 'Eric'. It was just the fact that she was acting differently around her. She just seemed to completely ignore him, as if it was no longer important to her.
He didn't know why, but Eric gave her a bad feeling. He had a strange feeling that maybe there was something hidden in the golden boy. And to top it off, Bueno Nacho had gone through a new administration, everything was changing around him so fast that he could barely keep up.
Ron was lying in his bed, trying to sleep all day and forget everything. Bueno Nacho, the prom, Eric and especially Kim, I just wanted everything to be as it was, as it should be, but that was impossible.
"What am I going to do Rufus? Kim has been ignoring me lately and dating 'Pretty Boy' all along, that makes me feel like she doesn't care about our friendship anymore. And if I say something to her it will only make everything strange and I can't handle that! ... Not to mention what it will do to our friendship! "
Rufus watched as Ron expressed his frustrations and anger and felt sad for him. He had been with Ron since she brought him home from the pet section at Smarty Mart. He had seen the friendship between Ron and Kim, always knowing that they could bounce back from anything from high school to brainstorming.
But with everything that has happened so far, he even wondered what will happen between Kim and Ron.
Rufus needed to help him stop thinking about Kim. And she knew exactly how, making noise to get his attention. When he did, he proceeded to do a series of martial arts moves and skills. Ron understood what he was doing and couldn't help but agree, the training would help clear his mind.
"Good idea, friend, some training would do me good"
What most people didn't know is that after returning from Yamanuchi, Ron secretly continued his training in the ninja arts. During the summer holidays he returned to continue his training. After saving the lotus sword and restoring Yamanuchi's honor, he felt more useful for once in his life and that perhaps meant that he could help Kim more on their missions.
But after all the training and progress he made, he vowed to keep it a secret. Which meant that he couldn't reveal any of his movements or abilities unless it was a matter of life and death. Kim's enemies were not as competent or dangerous at all, except for Shego and Monkey Fist. So, he resided in his secret life and hid it from his best friend.
Hoping that someday she would understand why he did it, and how useful he could be.

"Wade, I really don't have time for this right now." Kim Possible said with irritation. She was sitting in front of the mirror in her room, applying makeup in preparation for tonight's prom. She felt elated, knowing that Eric would be here at any moment.
"Kim, this is important." came Wade's voice, which sounded somewhat metallic, from the Kimmunicator lying on her bed. "The battle suit is a powerful piece of state-of-the-art equipment. It will definitely give you an advantage against Shego."
"It's okay." she sighed, smearing lipstick on her lips before tapping them. "Then tell me what is new?" Tonight, was going to be the night Eric would kiss her. She knew it.
"The battle suit is based on scans I took of the Centurion Project." Wade began to explain.
"You mean the wristband that grew every time I lied?" she recalled, annoyed by the memory and had her punished for a month.
"The same. I removed the biometric trigger that caused it to snag when the user becomes stressed." Wade continued and Kim breathed a sigh of relief. If he had been using Project Centurion now, it would look like a battle tank. "Now it's much more discreet too!"
Kim turned when she heard the sound of a hologram projected from the Kimmunicator. She frowned, getting up from her chair to take a closer look. "It doesn't leave much to the imagination, does it?" The suit was nothing more than a glove for the body, with a single hip bag attached to a belt as the only accessories. "So, what does he do besides hug my curves?"
Wade crossed his arms on the small screen. "It is meant to hide under clothing." he said, as if it was obvious. "Unfortunately, I have not yet perfected the Force Shield technology. When activated, it will repel anything that is not directly connected to the suit, such as the clothing mentioned above."
"Wonderful ... wait, shield force?" she asked, suddenly intrigued.
"Yes!" Wade replied proudly. "This technology will withstand anything. But it drains the power of the suit very quickly, so it should only be used sparingly."
"Shield of strength, sounds interesting." Kim replied, going back to her dressing table to continue putting on makeup for her date.
"The suit itself can also regenerate, something I managed to incorporate from the Centurion Project. I have built an energy absorption cup in my right forearm."
Kim raised her eyebrows for a moment, looking at the Kimmunicator through her mirror. "Once again, in English please and thank you."
"The energy absorption cup is a cyber glove that can trap and then absorb or release raw energy."
"You mean Shego's glow."
"Or lasers, or even electric power."
"Perfect '". Kim said, a weak part of her mind that was not focused on the night that was coming to find ways to use the device.
"Besides" Wade smiled. "You will improve your speed and strength by improving your natural musculature, as the Centurion Project did when Shego brought the building down on you."
"Can we leave that Halloween in the past for ..."
"Kimmie!" her mother called from below. "There is a very handsome young man here for you!"
"I also have some ideas for energy to matter the transformation ..." But Kim decided to cut the communication. She stood up and turned around to put the Kimmunicator in her bag before slipping her feet into her high-heeled sandals. "Tonight, is going to be perfect", she told herself before climbing the ladder.

Ron Stoppable walked painfully towards Bueno Nacho, his hands in his pockets, almost dragging the shiny floor of the Mexican fast food restaurant. It was the home of the Naco, Ron's claim to wealth and glory for two full days, as well as his first workplace. It was his refuge; Or it had been until someone ended up buying the franchise and turning it into a playground for toddlers who bite their ankles.
He ignored the little Diablo's balloons and the toys on the counter. His mind was elsewhere, and he wanted nothing more than to drown his grief in soft drinks and melted cheese.
While preparing for her prom, he had spoken to Rufus, his pet Naked Mole Rat, about his feelings for Kim. Once he realized how futile it would be to reveal those feelings at the prom while Kim was with Eric, he took off his light blue tuxedo and instead decided to return here to Bueno Nacho. It was late and the restaurant was about an hour away from closing, so I expected the new influx of minors complaining to go home.
"Welcome to Bueno Nacho. May I take your order?" Ned, the clerk at the counter asked in a mock, cheery voice. When the physically robust manager behind him turned around, he held up a tray of food to whisper to Ron. "Ron, something very strange has happened!"
When Ron turned to him, Ned was standing normally again, and heeded the warning. The sigh. "You understood correctly." he said, looking at the menu. "Let's see ... Two big chimiritos; three orders from Naco's and a large soda to go." Rufus pulled out his jagged tooth and pulled the pink face out of Ron's pants pocket and screeched in protest. "Okay, better like here, Rufus can't wait."
"Yes!" Ned replied cheerfully as Lars, the manager, passed behind him, preparing Ron's order. When the big man was out of earshot, Ned whispered. "Ron, get out of here! Something strange is going on here!"
"Ned, useless worm!" Lars yelled from behind him with all the energy of a Marine Corps Drill Sergeant, using his managerial clipboard to force Ned's chin to look him in the eye. "Did you ask our favorite customer if they would like Diablo sauce in their order?
"I didn't, sir!" Ned said. "Diablo sauce?" he asked, holding up a packet of yellow condiments to Ron.
Ron wasn't paying attention, instead he looked down at the floor and looked at his sorry reflection. "Eh? Yes, sure. Whatever."
When Lars walked away to pick up Ron's order, Ned quickly opened the packet of hot sauce and drew a word on the food tray, hoping his boss wouldn't notice. "Here it is!" Lars announced. "Nice and hot". She put the fast food on the tray with a cheery accent and nudged Ned to do the same.
"And have a nice day!" Ned waved.
Ron reluctantly carried his tray of food to an empty table and set it on the padded bench. As he did so, Rufus jumped out of his pocket and dove into the Nacos, gulping down almost whole potato chips with his skinny bald tail wagging with joy. Then the little rodent chewed on half a chimirito and only took a moment to swallow when he noticed Diablo's hot sauce on the food tray.
After removing the various cartons of Mexican food, he saw the message written in smeared sauce.
'EVIL'
Rufus screeched, then turned in an effort to get Ron's attention as he pulled his soda out of its paper wrapper. "No ..." he said, narrowing his eyes. "It can't be ... Noooooooooo!" He screamed, slamming his fist down on the table, making everyone look in his direction. He slipped out of his booth with a mission in mind, looking at Lars as he approached the order counter. "This is the last straw!"
"That?!" Lars said, confused.
Ron raised his straw angrily. "This is the last straw!"
"Not!" Lars replied, holding up a box full of straws. "We have more here!"
Ron climbed up on the counter to look Lars in the eye. "You removed the flexible straws!"
Lars returned his gaze, finally understanding. He pushed the straw off his face away and left Ron on the floor on the other side of the counter. "Sir, you are crazy."
"Why? Just because I'm interested ?!" Ron yelled, pushing the straw towards Lars's face.
"Because of the flexible straws." The much larger man said with a smile, shaking the straw so that it bounced off Ron's forehead.
"I'm going to accuse you!" Ron complained.
"With whom?"
"With your boss." Ron smiled, turning to run out the door of the pay phone. "Wade ?!" he asked when the ten-year-old computer genius picked up the phone on the other side. "I am in Buenos Nachos, and I have comments and suggestions!"
Wade put down the cup of soda he'd been drinking and put the Diablo toy away to write. "Right ... Do you want me to connect you to his 800 number?"
"No way." Ron replied. "I want to go higher, I want to speak to the CEO, contact me"
"I don't know Ron, talking to a CEO is not easy. "Wade told him, starting to type on his computer system." The guy's private line is maybe super-secret and ... voila "
Ron waited a moment as the phone rang twice, then held his breath in anticipation, his mind working on dozens of frustrations he had felt in the past few months since Bueno Nacho had changed. "Hello!" said a familiar voice. "Bueno Nacho. The President speaking!"
"Drakken?" Ron asked in disbelief, all his upsets came to a sudden end.
"If it's about changing my long distance ..." the voice on the phone continued as the receiver was pulled out of Ron's hand.
"Dr. Drakken is a very busy man, Ron Stoppable." Lars said from behind Ron as he hung up the phone. "No need to disturb him. Now I'm going to have to take whoa!" Before Lars could finish, Ron grabbed her hand on his shoulder and then turned Lars back to the restaurant, stunning the man and giving Ned and Rufus a chance to run out of the restaurant.
Ned continued to run for his life as Rufus seized the opportunity to slip back into Ron's pocket.
Lars had regained consciousness.
"Diablos, attack!" Order when hundreds of little Diablo toys came out the doors and headed straight for Ron and Rufus.
There were too many and Ron knew he couldn't fight them all at once. I needed to get to Kim and tell him about Drakken, Bueno Nacho and the little Diablo's at the same time. He shot off towards his scooter and started to get away from Diablo and Lars as fast as he could. Unfortunately, his scooter could only go so fast that he looked down at the scooter when he realized it.
"This is rubbish! Am I the only one noticing?" he said as Rufus fought the mini Diablo's. Lars tried to board them, but ended up missing when Ron's scooter sped up, leaving him crashing headfirst into the Bueno Nacho Drive-thru menu.
"That was close friend! But we have to get to Kim NOW!" as he speeds up his scooter to reach a speed of 25 miles per hour while trying to dodge the evil Diablo's.

The lights were shining and the music was loud as Middleton High School students danced the night away. They were all in a good mood while dancing with their partners. But none happier than Kimberly Ann Possible as she danced to the perfect beat with her new boyfriend, Eric Maguire. In his mind, he was perfect, handsome, smart, and athletic.
Kim was spinning and trembling around Eric in a graceful dance that had almost all eyes on the gym on her. Without warning, he stopped when his distinctive four-tone Kimmunicator doorbell caught his attention. As she left the dance floor, she made her way to where she left her bag on a table where Monique was sitting. She was about to answer when her friend looked at her disappointed.
"What?" Kim asked, her thumb ready to answer the Kimmunicator.
"Shouldn't you let that go to voicemail?" Monique asked.
"What if it's important?" Kim responded defensively.
"More important than ..." Monique began, then turned her attention to Kim's boyfriend as he approached. "Eric, hey!"
"Hey Monique". Eric said in greeting. He looked at Kim's Kimmunicator with a frown. "I think Wade will understand."
Kim looked at the device, then at Erik and smiled. The world owed him tonight. She had saved him so many times that he could survive tonight without her. Reluctantly, she stuffed the device back into her bag and dropped it on the table, taking the hand she expected from Eric. "Yes..."
Eric was the perfect boyfriend to rub Bonnie Rockwaller's face with. She never really liked Bonnie and always hated how he could press her buttons. She even though he understood her a little, thanks to the tail gas incident, the worst week of his life. But now she had the perfect boyfriend and was happy that Bonnie suffered humiliation for bringing someone sexier than Brick to the prom, nothing could go wrong ...
"The Little Diablos are bad!" Ron stormed into the school, stumbling into the balloon's decorative arch. His hair was blowing in the wind. Her eyes were wild.
The music stopped and the crowd, including Kim and Eric, turned and looked at Ron. Ron complained about how Drakken is now the president of Bueno Nacho and how Diablo's toys were evil and chasing him. Kim walked out the door with Ron and, of course, the Diablo's were nowhere to be seen. Eric insisted that Ron was doing everything because he was jealous. To Ron's surprise, Kim sided with Eric. He turned and pointed, and the Little Devil horde was gone.
"Where-?"
Eric put an arm around Ron's shoulder. "Dude, are you alright?"
Ron removed his arm. "I know that tone. 'Ron is making everything up!' Well, it doesn't matter what you or anyone thinks. " He smiled triumphantly. "Because my best friend Kim will believe me, right, Kim?"
Kim avoided his gaze.
"Kim?"
"Ron, I ..." trying to make sense of the situation.
"Kim, listen to me! Drakken controls Bueno Nacho! And he's going to take over the world with little Diablos!" as soon as he said the whole gym exploded with laughter without believing Ron a bit. "It's the truth! A million of those little things chased me! Does Kim believe this?"
"Ron"
"When I spoke to customer service to complain about the flexible straws, I was able to recognize Drakken's voice on the other end of the line!"
"Flexible straws? Are they flexible straws?" Ron's face fell, but Kim tried not to notice. "Ron, I know things have been weird between us, but you don't need to use flexible straws as an excuse. You could have come and talked to me tomorrow."
Ron's face went blank, Kim took Ron's hand in his. "Ron, you have nothing to feel threatened by. Eric will not stand in the way of our friendship. We will always be together."
"So, you don't believe me either, do you think I'm making this up to get your attention?" It was not a question, but a statement. There was an awkward moment of silence. Kim did not know what to say. Kim tried to tell Ron in the treehouse that he shouldn't be threatened by Eric. She didn't want to embarrass Ron any more in front of everyone at the prom. Ron just looked at Kim. Finally, he spoke. "After all we've been through together, I can't believe you think I'm making this up. I know how much tonight means to you and how much time you had to save to pay for that dress. Sorry. I interrupted your special night."
"Look Ron," Kim said as calmly as she could, "it may have sounded like Drakken, but that doesn't mean it was him. And besides, even if he's doing something, that doesn't mean it was him. I mean, we're talking about Drakken. Drakken! He'll probably trip over his own feet again. And even if he doesn't, the authorities can handle this tonight. Let the police, Army or Global Justice handle things for a change. It is not up to me to save the world every hour of every day! "
Ron stood up and headed for the door. Kim hurried to catch up. "Ron, where are you going?"
"I'm going to arrest Drakken, with or without your help," was all Ron said. "Do you want your date night? Fine! I'll do it myself." He reached the door and stopped. Then he looked over his shoulder at Kim. "See you, Possible," was all he said. Then he walked out the gym doors.
Kim's eyes closed and her shoulders dropped. Then Bonnie approached. "It was time for you to get rid of that loser. Good job, Kim."
Kim was about to go with Erik when Monique stopped her. She wasn't hiding how worried she was. "Are you sure you let him go after Drakken alone, Kim?" Was all she said. "This may be more serious than it sounds."
This surprised Kim. "You were the one who told me to focus on Eri before hanging up the Kimmunicator"
"Yes, but it was also me who told you to support your Ron, I only hope that you are right." Monique went to the corner of the gym where Tara stood. Tara was giving Kim such a nasty look. Not that she didn't deserve it.
Eric put his hand on Kim's shoulder and said. "Kim, I think it's best if you leave Ron alone tonight and talk to him tomorrow. He's angry right now. Whether it's me or someone else, Ron has to learn to deal with it."
Kim turned and looked at Eric, who had re-lit the spell. She returned the smile and squeezed Eric's hand on his shoulder and nodded. Kim replied, "We have to sit down with Ron tomorrow. He seems really threatened by you. Can't I have my best friend and the boy who ..." Kim paused for a minute and blushed. Eric just smiled. Kim continues, "I know that if we talk about it we can get through this."
Eric just smiled and nodded. "I don't intend to come between you and Ron Kim as long as he doesn't come between us." Kim just wrapped Eric in a hug thinking to herself that he was a perfect boyfriend.

Ron walked down the sidewalk before hearing the music starting again, which meant that the dance had returned. I just couldn't believe what happened in there. Kim, his best friend, did not believe a word of what he said. And she just chose Eric over him.
"SHIT!, HOW COULD SHE! HOW COULD I NOT BELIEVE HIM, HOW COULD I CHOOSE HIM ABOUT ME ?!" He screamed before falling to his knees. Tears now flow down his face, releasing all his anger and sadness as the memory still burned in her mind. Blood was now seeping from his knuckles. It hurt ... it hurt so much inside that he felt like he was drowning in despair, but as he looked up at the night sky, he saw the moon in all its splendor and it gave him a feeling of peace and clarity. Ron when he stopped looking at the moon.
Then he saw a pay phone, decided to dial Wade's number to see if he would believe him.
"Hello?" Wade said on the other line.
"Wade, this is Ron. Friend I need your help, the Diablos are evil and Drakken is behind this, Kim did not believe me, please, I need you to help me." Ron said desperately.
"Are you sure Drakken is behind it all?" Wade asked incredulously.
"Of course, when I spoke to Bueno Nacho to complain, Drakken was the one who answered me." He explained. "Didn't you check it when I was talking?"
"Actually no, my mom called me. But still, I think it was a coincidence that you heard Drakken's voice."
Ron's jaw dropped at what he heard "So that's it, you don't believe me either."
"Ron, I didn't say that, I'm just saying that ..."
"You know, it was hard for me to believe that my best friend didn't believe me, I don't need another friend to tell me the same thing." With that Ron hung up the phone and went to Kim's house to see if Dr. Possible could help him. "I just hope he does believe me." he thought to himself.

"Seriously, Ronald, I think you're still raving about the cancellation of Naco-Night." James Possible said to him.
"Mr. Possible is the truth," Ron said for the thousandth time.
"Ron," Ann Possible intervened. "Are you sure what you're saying is true?"
"Either that or you're jealous of Eric," added Mr. Possible.
"That's it, isn't it?" Ron said in an almost challenging tone. "Kim had other boyfriends, and he may have been jealous of them, and I never did anything to get Kim to pay attention to me, tell me then, why would I do it now?"
"Because you are afraid that Kim will leave you behind, and you know that sooner or later that will happen, and I think it is also because it is Eric, and not you, who is Kim's boyfriend ..." James said.
"James, stop it." Ann admonished her husband, then turned to look at Ron. "I think you better go Ron."
"Okay, I'm sorry I interrupted your night," Ron said as he left the Possible house. "This can't be happening, first Kim, then Wade, and now Mr. and Mrs. Possible. Who else could help me?" Ah FÉLIX, your mother works with Mr. Dr. P, they could help me."
Ron proceeded to dial Felix's number on his phone.
"Hello." someone answered the phone
"Felix, I'm Ron, could it be that you and your mom can help me with something."
"Sorry Ron, but my mom is not here and I'm busy."
"Doing what?" Ron asked, "There is no Zombie Mayhem tournament today."
"I'm doing my homework." Felix replied.
"Why? The school year ends on Monday"
"Extra credits, Ron," Felix emphasized.
"Well, but seriously, I need your help, it's a matter of life and death."
"Ron, seriously, I don't think you should overdo it, we really can't talk about this tomorrow."
"I am not exaggerating, it is urgent."
"Really, Ron, I can't."
"Felix, please."
"Sorry Ron, I can't." Felix hung up the phone.
"And now what will I do." Ron said to himself.
"Hey Ron, we can help you." Ron heard a voice speaking to him, when he turned around, he saw Jim and Tim Possible, or the Tweebs, as Kim called them.
"Can you really help me?" Ron asked them.
"For real." Jim started.
"We listened to the discussion our parents had and we thought it was better if we help you find out what's behind these Diablos toys." Tim term.
"Okay," Ron said to them.
"We go to the garage; there we will attract less attention."
N/A: And yes, Ron's middle name is Adrian according to Wikipedia (not the Fan Wiki). For those who wonder why Wade, Mr. and Mrs. Possible and Felix did not believe Ron, this was inspired by the waveforms 'Machinations' story, of course, this story does not say how or why Wade, Mr. and Mrs. Possible did not believe Ron as it is a first person narrative from KP's point of view.
As I said before, I will be busy with the school, so I will not be able to upload more chapters in the following weeks, leave your comments and suggestions and I invite you to read my other stories.
