Chapter 1: The Hunt Begins.

Japan. Musutafu.

You know, a villain attack is something that was nothing new. Nearly every day, a bunch of bank robbers either steal money from a bank, ride a speeding car with no sign of stopping or a villain decides to destroy stuff or kidnap people and demand something from the police or heroes. You would think that people should have gotten used to it, especially in this day and age where superpowers, named quirks are normal.

Well, you would be wrong.

"STAY STILL YOU DAMN BIRDHEAD!" A female villain with a weak magnetic quirk shouted as she flung a ripped car door at the hero. Her entire outfit was made out of spandex with several armor plates in the chest and arms. She has just finished robbing a store and now she was being confronted by a hero with a really annoying quirk.

"Not a chance." His opponent said as a bird shaped shadow came out of his body with menacing red eyes and claws ready to beat the villain. His hero outfit was a black robe that went halfway down his shins, underneath he wore a black shirt and black pants with a utility belt. Fumikage Tokoyami or Tsukuyomi as he was known by his hero name was among the more popular pro heroes, alongside his former U.A. classmates. It was two years ago that he made his debut and he wanted to celebrate it with his friends, but he needed to take care of this villain first. Fortunately, there were almost no civilians around, which made his job easier.

He winced as he felt Dark Shadow try to take control, though his control was better than it was six years ago, he still had trouble with trying to hold him back. It didn't help that it was night with a full moon and he needed the help of the city lights to help control Dark Shadow.

"Get back here!" Dark Shadow said as he tried to grab the villain and missed as the crook used her magnetic quirk to escape and sent small poles that were lying around at Tokoyami who dodged them and went closer to him as Dark Shadow made for another lunge. The villain saw an electric cable lying around and used her powers to bring it to her. Just in time as Dark Shadow tried to bite at her but ended up having a cable, which was sparking with electricity and ended up electrocuted. He screamed before ripping the cable away as the villain looked scared.

'Screw this! It ain't worth going to prison.' She thought as he threw one of the money bags at Tokoyami who used Dark Shadow to catch it as the villain took out a smoke grenade and flash bang to escape.

"So long hero!" was all that she said before he threw the two grenades. The flash bang exploded as Tokoyami's ears hurt from the sound and Dark Shadow screamed from the sudden light. When the two recovered, they saw smoke around them and Tokoyami frowned.

"Dark Shadow, let's get to higher ground."

"Gotcha." Dark Shadow replied before going to Tokoyami and wrapping himself around him, giving Tokoyami a sort of an exoskeleton. Tokoyami didn't waste any time and used his power to scale a building and get to the roof to find the villain. Unfortunately, he lost sight of her.

"Damnit!" Tokoyami cursed as he jumped to another roof to keep looking for the villain, he needed to do it quick as he was starting to feel the strain of trying to control Dark Shadow get more and more tiring.

"Where the hell did she run off to?" He wondered as he kept looking 'I don't have time for this. I need to find her before I-"

"AAAAAAAHHHHH!"

Suddenly, a blood-curdling scream was heard, Tokoyami's head snapped towards the direction of the scream.

'It came from that block.' He thought as he used his Black Ankh to get to his destination and soon enough he found himself in a relatively quiet street. There only a few street lamps to light the area. For some reason he felt chills go down his spine as he felt that something was wrong.

'What is this feeling?' He thought as Dark Shadow started getting restless as Tokoyammi calmed himself down. Suddenly, he heard whimpers, he turned towards the source and was shocked.

The female villain that he was chasing was sitting on her knees with her hands in front of her and her money bag lying next to her. She was rocking back and forth, whimpering and crying. Slowly, Tokoyami approached her and was ready for any sort of trap that she might use.

"Ma'am, can you hear me?" She didn't respond and simple kept rocking back and forth, her cries getting a bit louder. Tokoyami frowned and carefully went to her and put a hand on her shoulder.

"Ma'am?" He asked and she stopped rocking and looked at him and Tokoyami's eyes widened as he saw the look of utter horror and terror on her face. It was made worse by the blood on her face and her right eye was scarred.

"H-Help me…" She softly whispered as Tokoyami tried to calm her down.

"Ma'am, please calm down. I can help you but I need you to-"

"It-It t-t-took them from m-me." She said, stopping him in his tracks. He looked at her broken look and he wondered what she meant.

"Who took what?" She turned her body towards him and his eyes widened in shock and horror at what he saw.

Her hands, which she used to use her quirk…were now nothing more than stumps with broke bone visible and blood gushing out, everything up to the elbows were no more. The skin around them was torn as she sat in one place, her tears flowing out.

"It took my hands." She whispered as Tokoyami saw something hanging from the corner of his eyes. He turned and saw a pair of hands dangling by a rope, the spandex and metal still on them, blood dripping to the ground.

"Help me." He turned to her and saw her try to get up, she failed and stared at him with desperate eyes.

"Help me!" She said a bit louder as police arrived behind him. He turned to look at them as several cops pulled out flashlights.

"Call the ambulance, now!" He shouted at them as her cries became louder and desperate as she then looked at him with crazed eyes that would haunt him for a long time as she spread her arms and screamed with the most desperate voice imaginable.

"HELP ME!" The sirens of the police and ambulance drowned out the sound as Tsukuyomi tried in vain to calm her down.

Detective Naomasa closed his eyes and rubbed his face as he arrived at the scene of the crime, the ambulance had taken the villainess away to the hospital and now he and the other cops were investigating the place.

"So tell me again: How did it happen?" He asked with closed eyes as he turned to look at Tsukuyomi who had several flashlights pointed at him to keep Dark Shadow at bay.

"I fought her several minutes prior, she was robbing a store and was trying to get away. I tried to apprehend her but she escaped using flash bang and smoke grenades." Tsukauchi took out a notebook and wrote everything down while using his quirk to see if the hero was lying. So far, he detected no lies.

"Go on." He asked as investigators took photos of the scene.

"I tried to use rooftops to find her, for several minutes I couldn't and thought that she got away, but then I heard a scream coming from somewhere. I thought that someone was in danger and went to investigate and found myself in an alley here." He pointed to the area and Naomasa nodded as the cops carefully unwrapped the rope and put the hands in a plastic bag.

"And that's where you found her?" The detective asked as Tsukuyomi nodded.

"Yes, I found her under the street lamp, whimpering and crying and rocking back and forth. It was almost like she saw something that scared her for the rest of her life. When I tried to talk to her, she said something and I tried to calm her down but she then said something else." Tsukauchi stopped writing and looked at the Pro Hero with a raised eyebrow.

"What did she say?" Tsukuyomi looked at the scene as he felt a shiver go down his spine.

"She said: "It took them from me" before showing her arms." Naomasa winced at that and wrote that down before closing his notebook and nodding at the Pro Hero.

"Thank you for your assistance Tsukuyomi. We will handle it from here." Tsukuyomi nodded and went to leave, but before that, he looked at the crime scene again and looked at the detective.

"Who do you think would do this?" Naomasa heard him and hummed in thought before looking at the hero.

"I don't know. I would wager a psychopath or some new villain, but either way we will find out." Tsukuyomi nodded and went to leave the scene to his agency, his mind haunted by the image and the knowledge of what he witnessed.

Naomasa looked at the scene looked around, trying to find something, anything to help him. He looked at the walls and noticed something amidst the blood that was smeared on it. Some of the bricks looked heavily scratched, as if something with a sharp object scratched it. He used his gloved hands to touch the bricks.

"What caused all of this?" he asked, fully aware of what this would cause in the long run. He needed to solve this case, lest people start panicking if another incident like this happened.

"Hold her down! Hold her down!" a doctor said as he held one of the patient's arms down as she thrashed in her hospital bed.

"LET ME GO! IT IS AFTER ME! IT WILL KILL ME!" She shouted as she struggled as much as she could without her hands. She could still see them, those terrifying eyes, that gleaming blade. She struggled harder as the doctor cursed.

"Nurse! Sedatives now!" The nurse nodded and quickly took out a needle with sedatives in it and injected into the woman's arm. The woman kept thrashing, until she slowly stopped and fell limp on her bed. The doctor put his hand on her neck and sighed as he felt her pulse.

"She is calm now. We can start now." The nurses nodded and handed him several bandages as the doctor began wrapping them around the stumps. He sighed as he finished.

"All is done. Now we wait." One of the nurses turned to him.

"I have never seen someone be so traumatized before. What do you think caused it doctor?" She asked as the doctor put his hand on his forehead.

"I don't know nurse. I don't think I want to know." Was all he said before he left the room. On his way out though he saw a detective waiting.

"Can I help you?" Naomasa nodded and showed his badge.

"Greetings, I am Detective Naomasa. I came here to talk to the victim and possibly get answers." The doctor nodded as he saw the badge.

"Well, she is in coma now. You will have to wait for a while, sir. We will call you when she wakes up." Naomasa nodded and gave them his number as he left the hospital and entered his car.

"Naomasa, come in. Detective Naomasa, come in." His radio was heard as he picked it up.

"Naomasa here. What is it?"

"Get to the market. We found a body in the alley." Naomasa cursed at that as he started his car.

"I am on my way." He replied as he drove towards the market. All the while, a question was on his mind.

'What is going on?'

A/N: Hello MHA fandom! I am Multiverse walker, and welcome to the "Hunter". I admit, this isn't the first time I wrote something about MHA. My other fanfic "Stories of the Multiverse" had a chapter with MHA in it, but I got curious and wrote this to see if I could write a good story on this particular anime. It is one of my favorite anime and I had this idea in my head that wouldn't shut up so I decided to write it.

Anyway, read and review and tell me what you think.

Thank you for reading this chapter and until next time. Farewell.
