Chapter 1

It was a peaceful day. No monsters, no threats, no fights, just peace. Of course, all good things must come to an end.

Percy had made plans to propose to Annabeth but something had been happening recently. She was busy with her work and while it bummed Percy out, he knew how passionate she got about her work. Rebuilding something that would last for a long time was her dream and who was he to be a thorn to that. He was just her boyfriend and soon to be her hopefully wedded husband.

He might have jinxed it because the moment he reached the beach, he saw her with another boy, holding hands. From the looks, they were awkward with each other and he realised it was probably the start of a relationship.

Sadness burst through his heart as she laid her head on his shoulder, their backs still facing him. He carefully stepped back and walked away. There was no use watching more events unfold. He had no idea how long it took for him to get to the Pegasi stable and he pushed open the doors and walked in.

"Yo boss," came an over enthusiastic Pegasus' voice.

Percy gave a sad smile in return and unlatched the rope holding Blackjack to the stable and climbed on him. He grabbed some black fur and said, "Blackjack, just take me away from here."

Blackjack noticed Percy's mood and softly took off in the air, flapping his dark wings in the night and out the camp borders. He kept flying, often dropping low to grab some water from rivers and lakes and then proceeding to rise up.

Percy just watched, not stopping Blackjack or saying anything. They just kept flying. Ultimately, he dug his hand in his pocket where the weight of the ring suddenly felt heavy. He sighed as he pulled it out and looked at it. It was a silver ring with a diamond that reflected like a mirror and what he saw in it was himself and the moon glowing brightly behind him. After that, he pulled out a pen from his pocket and uncapped it. A bronze sword popper out from it with the inscription Anaklusmos glowing from the moonlight.

He looked them over again, memorizing their detail before he dropped them.

"BOSS!" Blackjack exclaimed and dived down and grabbed the ring and the sword with his beak, "You dropped these."

Percy chuckled and replied, "I know Blackjack. I dropped them for a reason." Blackjack senses that he was finally ready to talk and slowed his speed to him floating in air.

"Why?"

"Because Blackjack, she found someone else," he responded referring to the ring.

"WHAT?! Lets go back boss and give me a moment to shove my hooves-"

"Whoa, there's no need for that Blackjack. Look, its alright. I don't have any bitterness. Maybe it was just me, you know. Maybe I was just not good enough."

"Boss you aren't bad. In fact, if I was a human, I would definitely go out with you."

Percy laughed loudly and the Pegasus neighed in indignation. Percy said, "Blackjack, if you were a human, you would be a man or a boy."

"Huh, I never really thought of that. Look boss, she may not have been the one for you but there must be someone."

"I don't know. I don't want to think about that. Can we just- I don't know, go far away? Somewhere nobody can find me. I just want to be alone."

Blackjack neighed and dropped the ring and the sword, which he had forgotten about, that fell into the forest below them and flapped his wings harder, a destination popping in his head. Percy snuggled in Blackjack's back and held his black neck fur tightly as he lay his chin on the soft fur and drifted into Morpheus' realm.

It took several hours before an exhausted Pegasus landed in a dark alley and collapsed, letting Percy get off him. Percy grabbed a fallen sheet and covered Blackjack's body and said, "I'll be back."

But he never returned. For that was the day he was last seen. Rumors have it that he was kidnapped. Some people claim that he became a God. Some people claim he is living there. Some claim he ran away and is somewhere is Alaska. But they were all wrong.

For he was dead.

A/N: This is a new book that I am writing and I have just written the first chapter. And before you ask me, he is really dead. In Hades' realm. And yes it will be a Pertemis story. Of course it will be a Pertemis story.
