Chapter 2

"Show your power to them."

And Garchomp rugged with that. It created shockwaves that sent almost all of the pokemon flying. Only Goodra and Greninja were standing, and they were blown back a few steps.

Ash just looked at the display with a firm eye and whispered to Pikachu, "This is going to be fun."

Once the shockwaves had calmed down, Ash had just looked at his assembled Kalos team and saw that Hawlucha and Talonflame had been thrown to the other side of the field, and Noibat was lying on his back. Once they had gathered their wits and stood up, they looked at Garchomp with fear in their eyes, and they were just rooted in their spot.

Looking at them, Ash couldn't help but sigh, he knew something like this was going to happen, and while he didn't want to do it, he knew it was necessary, so he just turned to Garchomp and gave him a nod.

Turning to his Kalos team, he said loudly,

"Don't just stand there, attack Garchomp in an attempt to kill him, because otherwise you wouldn't scratch him. Don't hold back at all, show me that I was right to trust you guys."

He slowly saw that his words began to take effect, and their eyes were filled with determination, and he was proud of them for that. He knew that none of them save for Greninja would even able to take on Garchomp; and even for Greninja right now he is, to take on Garchomp on even footing he would need the boost of his new form. Well, he wouldn't expect any less from Garchomp, he was one of his strongest and training with other three has done wonders for him, just by looking at him Ash can feel it.

While Garchomp just stood there; his eyes looked with the group, Talonflame was first one to take action by flapping his wings and was into air circling around with flame charge and increasing his speed.

He also saw Goodra square his legs and was preparing Dragon Pulse attack, while Hawlucha as just flipped in the air and was ready to pounce in moment's notice. Greninja just stood there trying to find any weak points or opening in Garchomp's stance while one hand on his back clearly preparing for cut attack. Noibat was standing near Goodra preparing to use supersonic right above.

Seeing all of them charging their attack, Garchomp just scoffed at them and prepared himself. Seeing his scoff as personal insult, Hawlucha was first one to take action as he jumped in the air while spinning; his one limb charging Karate Chop and within moment's notice he was in Garchomp's guard.

As soon as Hawlucha's attach made contact with Garchomp there was shockwave and dust flying everywhere. While others were looking at scene with interest, Ash just looked at the scene with out any interest as he already knew the outcome.

And once the dust cleared up whole Kalos team was looking at the scene with shock while Ash and Pikachu were just looking like everything was in place.

There in middle of ground Hawlucha with his glowing limb on Garchomp's face trying to push through it; but for him Garchomp just stood there absorbing the blow and not moving an inch. And then Garchomp moved, one second Hawlucha was in the air with his glowing fist on Garchomp's face and next second he flew past Goodra and stuck in wall making dent.

All they can see was Garchomp moved, but Ash, Pikachu and Greninja were able to see that he used his tail with such brute power, that force behind was enough to knock Hawlucha out for good without using any form of attack, and sure enough there were swirls in Hawlucha's eyes.

Coming out of stupor was Talonflame who was done raising his speed came down with steel wing which Garchomp just leaned sidewise, which allowed Goodra to fire his dragon pulse attack, the attack taking form of violet and white dragon taking at breath taking speed.

To the surprise of team, Garchomp also used dragon pulse, which met head on with Goodra's attack. The Power behind the attack negotiated Goodra's Dragon Pulse and continuing towards Goodra. In an blink of an eye, the super-effective attack hit Goodra which made him flew back and fall on his face. Though Goodra managed to stood up, but clearly the attack took its toll on him as he was panting.

Seeing this Talonflame enveloped himself in blue-flame and shot forward like a bullet in form of brave bird attack, and from other side Noibat also charged toward Garchomp surrounding himself with bluish glow in form of acrobatics. Seeing this Garchomp raised both his claws and soon emerald colored claws were seen which he brought down at the same time when Talonflame and Noibat made contact with him. There was another explosion and the dust was flying everywhere.

Seeing this, Goodra started surrounding himself with familiar glow of bide and started charging. Once the smoke was cleared, there was crater in which Talonflame could be seen knocked out near Garchomp's feet.

Noibat was fearfully looking at Claw of Garchomp resting near his head. Soon Garchomp growled in deep guttural growl which demanded obedience and looked in the eyes of Noibat, demanding submission and should he not, there won't be any mercy. Seeing this Noibat's eyes started watering but he gave resigned nod.

Seeing the youngest member of team in such manner and other teams knocked out, Goodra gave cry of rage and starting running towards Garchomp, and when he was within few meters distance, he gave large cry and unleashed his bide attack. The attack took form of gigantic white beam and in practically no time was onto Garchomp, whole fired his own Hyper beam attack, which collided with bide.

For brief amount the time both the attack where pushing each other, and on sidelines Ash could see that while keeping the attack was taking its toll on Goodra, Garchomp on other hand, didn't even look winded.

Shortly but surely Goodra was losing ground and the purple beam started taking over white beam and even though Goodra tried his best, he was soon enveloped by Hyper beam. Once the attack died down, Goodra could be seen laying down with swirls around his eyes and most of his body covered in burns. Seeing its job done, Garchomp turned towards the last opponent who was standing calm and analyzing the situation.

Ash himself was excited as he wanted to see where Greninja stack up and so he decided to see if his thoughts were correct.

Loudly speaking, "Greninja, Garchomp hasn't even moved from his spot", and it was true that Garchomp was standing on the spot where he was since battle began, other than that there were only few scratches on him.

"What I want for you to do Greninja, is to move Garchomp from his spot. None of them were able to do so and I trust you that you will be able make Garchomp take your seriously, Show him your power, Show him that you also deserve to be one of my strongest, Show me the results of training that we did together."

As soon as Ash finished he could see that the little doubt Greninja had after seeing whole Kalos team knocked out vanished and was replaced by sheer determination and willingness and for that Ash couldn't help but see that those were same eyes he had, as well as same eyes that his other strongest members had, the eyes which show nothing but sheer grit and determination, which wouldn't accept any less than best and which pushed them to go beyond their limit and become the very best.

Perhaps Garchomp was thinking the same lines as there was tiny bit of interest in his golden eyes by seeing the fire in Greninja's eyes and so this time he took initiative of attack. He bending his legs little bit and soon he was onto Greninja swinging his single claw which was shining with green color showing usage of dragon claw attack. All they heard sonic boom once Garchomp moved showing that he lived up to his name of Mach Pokemon.

As the claw was coming down, Greninja countered with his Cut attack and for moment both were locked in battle of wills which neither were giving inch. Slowly Garchomp started overpowering him which Greninja realized as he broke off the cut attack and same time used double team. In no time the field was full of Greninja's all of them preparing their water shuriken attack. Seeing this Garchomp turned around and blasted whole field with flamethrower attack.

The attack was wide spread and it covered whole field removing every single of clones. Seeing this Ash couldn't help but grin as he knew somehow this Charizard's influence to wreck the field, as he could feel the intensity of flames from side of the field. Once the attack ended there was no sign of Greninja, seeing this Garchomp squared himself to be ready to strike at moment's notice. Soon the ground behind him erupted with Greninja showing water pulse attack on Garchomp's face which he followed by throwing water shuriken. Garchomp took the brunt of both attacks head on and skidded back.

Seeing this attack Ash couldn't help but feel his heartbeat getting faster and soon he knew what was goon happen. Soon enough Greninja erupted in water veil, and he was surrounded by water and his appearance changed little bit, his face having red hue surrounded his ears and eyes. His eyes also changed with having red tint in them. Garchomp also felt the shift and power as he gave growl of excitement as he heard about this from his trainer last night and he was excited to see this power first hand. Seeing his opponent Garchomp realized why Ash wanted Greninja to go through this training as with proper control and training he could be one of Ash's elites like him.

As they gazed at each other, this time Greninja made his move first by charging cut attack and was onto Garchomp with slashing his sword horizontally. Garchomp decided to meet it head on, by clashing his dragon claw attack. The clash generated the shockwave and soon enough both can be seen fighting between claws and swords with both giving neither inch.

Though Greninja was powerful and holding its own, it soon became clear that he couldn't match Garchomp in raw power. The dragon claw attack broke through Greninja's cut and Garchomp slashed him sending him back. Greninja was soon clutching his right shoulder in pain, and at same time Ash also felt ghost of pain on his right shoulder.

Seeing enough, Garchomp decided to end the fight and within no time he launched at Greninja, enveloping himself in multicolored flames, which soon took form of dragon, as he barreled straight in Greninja with perfect Dragon Rush attack.

The result of which, Greninja was sent in the wall of other side of field, creating dent in the wall.

The transformation was over as Greninja was unconscious and Ash was seen sitting on ground clutching his abdomen in pain. But soon, he stood over and went to Garchomp patting his side. Only Noibat was conscious and he tried averting eyes from Ash, ashamed of his failure.

Seeing this Ash spoke in much softer tone.

"Noibat, look at me. This battle doesn't mean that you are weak. It was to show you guys that this is the kind of opponents we will be facing future, and this the level of strength I want you to have. This what I will make you. You are dragon, remember that defeat doesn't mean end, it just means that we have to try over best to overcome that wall. Even I have been defeated in past many times, but doesn't mean I gave up. To reach of the goal of becoming strongest, we will face many defeats, but what is important is we learn from our defeats and we try not to repeat those mistakes."

Saying this he still could see that Noibat wasn't feeling good about being so weak.

So he went to Noibat with Pikachu and Garchomp following him. When he was near him, he started petting his head and spoke in gentle tone.

"Garchomp wasn't always this big, you know. He was also tiny like you, but what differed him was his will not to give up, and push through the obstacles. No matter how big and powerful the opponents were, he always made sure that he tried his best and doesn't admit defeat. He was also defeated many times in past, but he didn't allow those defeats to hold himself back. He learned from his mistake and decided to move forward. You are dragon, correct? Dragons don't admit defeat, they keep going until the end, that's what makes them powerful force. And I promise you, that you will also reach the level where Garchomp is."

Saying his piece his gave Noibat his softest smile with Garchomp giving his growl of agreement and Pikachu also agreeing with soft 'chu'. Noibat launched at Ash crying and hugging who happily returned the hug.

Soon enough all of other pokemon started regaining their conscious. Noibat looked at them and then Ash and gave another nod and voiced his agreement with happy 'Noi'.

Seeing his team gaining consciousness Ash decided now it was time to tell them his plan, so he went to them and looked over them. Out of all of them, Greninja looked in worse shape, but he was still able to stand and when he met Ash's eyes, he stood firm without any sign of weakness although he eyes Garchomp warily. Goodra had burns on his body, while Talonflame and Hawlucha looked to be less injured. Considering that Garchomp just used brute physical power it was understandable. Gaining their attention, he started speaking.

"This is the level I want you all to reach. You saw the difference, Garchomp could take all the attacks head on, and dish out more powerful. He also could dodge each of your attacks easily. This are the kind of opponents we will be facing in future. The opponents who will be like wall which will be hard to overcome, but I promise you when we are done with training you will be there. It will take time, but we will reach there. Maybe not before Kalos League, it is impossible to reach this level in two months' time."

"Garchomp has been with me for nearly 3 years and as you can see it takes time to reach there. You guys have drive and passion, and with the teacher like him, you will reach there. You saw how Garchomp battled, he was able to dodge your attack, could withstand your attacks and dish out more powerful ones, he has speed and precision and know where, when and how to strike. This is what you will be learning. To dodge, to attack and to withstand those attacks."

Saying this, he can see that at end of speech all his team were filled with determination and were ready to prove themselves to foe who wiped field with them that they are ready to reach that level and they were ready to do what it takes to reach that level.

Seeing this Ash decided to bring out remaining three members of the team. Throwing out one by one remaining three came out in flash of light.

The first pokemon appearing was an ape like pokemon who had fiery crown on his head. The fire burned brightly on his head and he had warm dark blue eyes and black slits in them. It also had golden plates on his shoulder, knees, and on its knuckles. Its torso was covered in white fur while his legs and arms were covered in reddish brown skin and had a long tail. It could be seen standing on one knee bent and looking at standing pokemon with judging look.

Though when his eyes met eyes of Garchomp and he gave a nod. And then he gave a large happy cry of "Infernape" and hugged Ash. This was Infernape, his Sinnoh Ace and one who helped him defeat his Sinnoh rival Paul almost single handedly.

The second pokemon coming was tall green pokemon with twig in his mouth. It was almost as tall as Goodra around 1.9 m. It had bushy tail which looked like covered with leaves and yellow bulbs on its back. Three claws littered out of his long green arms and had blade like leaves on end of it. It was standing on his hind legs. It was primarily green color with red stripe on his stomach and red under mouth. It had yellow eyes with red under shadow and black slitted eyes. It gave nod of acknowledgment to Garchomp, Pikachu and Infernape after surveying his surroundings. It dismayed other Pokémon standing with single gaze and gave a happy nod to Ash, happy to see his trainer again.

This was Sceptile, his ace in Hoenn and Kanto Battle Frontier and his fastest Pokémon on land. It never lost its cool in battle and it was him that Ash trust most during heat of battles to take decisions when he couldn't do it. It was same Sceptile which helped him defeat Tobias legendary Darkrai in Sinnoh League.

The third Pokémon coming out was the one which stood tallest. As long as Garchomp, with two big orange wings with blue insides, it had wing span of thirty feet. Three claws littered out of its huge feet and arms. He had a long neck that stretched into draconian snout, two horn like protrusions that jutted from back of his skull and warm blue eyes. He had incredibly large and thick tail, with tail bone leading to tip which was covered in blazing hot flames. He had powerful orange scales all over body and had a yellow underbelly. This was Charizard, Ash's most powerful Pokémon, the one who was with Ash as long as Pikachu and one who was in his original team of six. It gave the assembled kalos team derisive snort and turn to his trainer.

Ash who was looking at them couldn't help but sigh at his strongest team's attitude.

"Wow, look at yourself Charizard, you got huge.", saying this he patted Charizard's belly and turned to Sceptile, "Well Charizard is not the only one to get big, huh Sceptile!".

With that he turned and look at Kalos team, who were looking at his strongest with respect and admiration.

"Alright so this four are my strongest. You fought Garchomp, he is the fourth in ranking if you consider weakest to strongest followed by Infernape, Sceptile and Charizard. Charizard is without doubt my strongest and Sceptile comes pretty close, Charizard only edges out due to its type advantage." Saying this he could practically hear Charizard's snort no doubt refuting the statement. Ah well, Charizard's pride was always one thing.

Sighing he turned towards Kalos team he started saying, "These guys will help you in the way you saw Garchomp fight. One thing I also noticed was we are missing the some moves for each one of you be it long range or for close combat so these guys will help you that, and then it will be on you to master them. I won't accept anything less."

Turning to Greninja, he said, "You have experienced fighting Sceptile and Charizard both. While you defeated Sawyer's Sceptile last time, we both know you were nearly defeated; and Alain's Charizard was even harder, and we lost. So, this two will help to fight and you will understand where and how to strike next time.

Also, I want you learn some moves as right now we don't have any moves with enough fire power. First is Night Slash, it will be powerful dark type move which is be good to have back up for close quarters apart from cut and aerial ace. Second is ice beam, which will give you powerful range attack, other than that we will work on your power, speed, endurance and defense. There is another thing that I want, is that I want you to stop depending on your other form. Its like double edge sword now as it drains your stamina too quickly, so we will work to increase that in your base form. We will master that form together." Saying his part his nodded at Greninja who nodded back.

Turning to Talonflame, he continued, "You will work as same as Greninja, but Charizard will help you learning more flamethrower, as you are also missing long range attack right now and after that we will work your dodging in air. Once we have enough progress than maybe we will work on fire blast." Looking at Talonflame he could see that the prospect of learning moves got him excited.

"Hawlucha, you will be learning to fight more efficiently and quickly with help of Infernape and he will teach you to increase your power and speed. For moves you will learning brick break and once you have mastered that he will teach you close combat. You also don't have any long-range attacks so I will look into that and see what we can do."

Turning to his Kalos pseudo-legendary he continued, "Goodra,you are tank of team. You can take attacks and return in two-fold, coupled with natural resistance to elemental attack with your dragon typing we need something to combat fairy and steel type. So, you will to be learning flamethrower as well and once you have mastered that, you will learn outrage. We are going to increase your defense to unimaginable level that it will take many hits to take you down and you can counter them. Also add thunderbolt into that list as well. I have a couple of ideas for it."

Saying his piece, he turned to youngest and smallest member he continued, "Noibat right now you are going to need maximum work. So we are going to take advantage of dragon typing and so you will be learning dragon pulse and brick break too. We are going to work on your defense and power as you will need to work on that maximum before evolution."

Turning to remaining four member he said, "Charizard you are going to work with Talonflame, while Sceptile you are teaching Greninja, and Sceptile don't hold back, he is like you."

Turning to remaining two, he continue, "Garchomp, you will be teaching Goodra and Noibat as they require maximum work and you can teach them many things with you being dragon. Infernape same goes for you with Hawlucha, get him into shape and teach him fighting maneuvers."

Seeing that he has said his piece, he finally turned to last member and his first Pokémon, "Pikachu, how far have you come in generating electricity?"

When Pikachu answered with nod and "Pika", he continued, "That's good, we will start working with thunder attack soon as I believe your reserves are big enough for and once you have mastered it, we will go into volt tackle."

Saying this, he returned his team to their pokeballs and once Pikachu was on his shoulder he went to Pokémon center to get the healed and give them breakfast.
