Onboard the Hyperion:
An Adventure with Stars
"A new visitor? Possibly a relative of Captain?" The navy-haired girl blinked once again upon reading the message relayed to her by the related person in question, displayed out in a floating screen in front of her.
Captain had gone off to another trip, and no one really knows where they had gone. There were rumours that spanned from going off to spend time with other girls, or just the outrageous extent of running away from Hyperion. (The reactions of Kiana and the others evident.)
Fu Hua really wasn't sure. But even with Captain's absence, the girls were still on a weekly cycle of Bridge duty. Though, standing here and expecting someone or something was quite the rare situation when they weren't here.
That, changed as in that exact moment, the familiar shifting and click of Hyperion's elevator was heard behind her.
Though, the class monitor of St. Freya did not expect the person who was standing in the elevator when she turned around.
Of course, much to her brief disappointment it wasn't Captain. It was someone else, as expected.
A short yet regal girl stood before her. Silver hair tied in a familar style, with hairpins shaped in orchids and she donned an outfit of blue and white.
Fu Hua blinked.
"Principal Theresa?"
Zhuge Kongming, though she hated to admit it- was lost. She followed the instructions given to her, having to allow some leeway and move a little bit of pride aside when she was told that she had to either listen, or just find herself in the middle of nowhere in this strange looking boat.
With the help of some helpful subjects of this.. ship, who were nice enough to guide her around the place, she's now apparently making her way to the main place.
Wouldn't the main place be a throne room?
"Principal Theresa? What are you doing here?"
She blinked, before widening her eyes at the voice and waving (more of a trying to ward off a ghost kind of shaking) her fan at the navy-haired girl, though dressed differently in some modernized-oriental clothing with her hair down.
As foolish as it would be for me to say, those white shorts on her with that choice of outfit and strange looking belt does fit her quite nicel-
It sure does look good on her, but she wouldn't, and obviously couldn't say that to an old adversary.
"For the last time, I am not Theresa! And you, Arch Imperator, why are you of all people here?"
The two stared at each other silent for a brief moment, especially on Fu Hua's end.
For the first time in whatever recollection she could remember, she was left silently blinking. She wasn't sure what to say. Arch Imperator? Not Theresa?
Then it hit her immediately.
"Do forgive me for mistaking you for another, since your appearance, short stature and hairstyle is similar to that of the Principal-"
A beep cuts her off and she blinked. She immediately brought up the floating screen in front of her to find another message sent by the Captain themself.
Oh right, I forgot to mention the name of whoever you're talking to.
I think you've already figured it out faster than me, but still, Zhuge Kongming here from another world went gone through some things that were quite rough.
She might start calling you girls some weird nicknames and honorifics too because those people sure do share the resemblance.. too accurately.
Anyways, I got caught up in another mess so I can't help you out. Can you ask her nicely to open up her scroll? It's all there. Also, I'll get gifts on the way home. Thanks!
Fu Hua slowly relayed the last part of the message to 'Not Theresa' that was standing before her and she did as she was told.
A few seconds as the silver haired girl scanned through the scroll, she rolled it back up and kept it. "Hm. Captain wasn't joking. So this is this truly another world even sky lanterns could not reach. If that's the case.. You are?"
The class monitor stood there, closing her eyes as she straightened herself and did a greeting gesture with both of her hands. "A-rank Valkyrie, Fu Hua, currently on bridge duty on Hyperion."
Kongming nods, before fanning herself with the fan once more. "..Zhuge Kongming. Grand Seeress of Emberya."
Now that pleasantries can be placed aside, she can finally ask about this world.
..And Captain's absence, of course.
What were they thinking, going straight into a journey one after another? Changing timelines? Getting more girls? Planning on going through another death loop?
The fact she, was now apart of this strange world-travelling spree collection made her sigh.
Truly.. What a strange person, leading these people.
Greetings and introductions were made to the crew of Hyperion, so that the staff would recognize the newcomer and not cause any complications.
It was.. Getting quite monotonous and repetitive doing the same thing over and over again.
Some were nothing like she expected while others were to be. Quiet to energetic, fussy to mild. Overall, they seemed to be quite the hardworking bunch of soldiers to man the ship in their Captain's absence.
Speaking of this Hyperion..
They had just reached to this sector not long ago. Fu Hua, as she had introduced herself, was gracious enough to tell her of what these 'Dorms' were. She was aware of the word itself, and yet the place interested her.
Apparently it was one of the many quarters belonging to the Valkyries of this ship.
And they all rest in these places after missions?
...How spacious. It was nothing like the barracks the soldiers of Emberya had stayed in despite their best attempts in making the place well-accommodated in terms of quality and size.
Though, again, she wouldn't admit that to someone who bears the resemblance and exact voice of the Arch Imperator of the Holy Schicksal Empire.
She wouldn't be surprised at this point if the Corsair Queen or Rita was here.
Before she could wave it off and say she wasn't interested in such places or anything else, someone else, rather, had caught her attention.
And by attention, the two had caught each other's attention.
Two silver haired girls were now looking at each other.
"Woah.. I'm looking at myself?" An uncertain voice, yet full of curiosity and rising wonder reached her ears.
She scoffed and immediately shot down the question.
"How foolish. I'm not you. I'm Kongming."
One stared, the other glared. What's next? An arguing explosion fair?
"Really? Why do you look like Aunt Teri?"
"I do not. I don't associate myself with idiots like you- Wait, did you just call her Aunt?!" The Grand Seeress immediately turned around upon hearing that voice.
Another silver haired girl appeared before her, though she was more taller and she had twin tails.
That girl reminded had her of someone.
A silver smile of mixed assurance, in their shining white armor despite being under the hot sun of the desert.
"It's a rough road ahead, take care and be safe."
She shook off the memories.. Despite them sharing the same looks, she surely wouldn't be the same person with the same name right?
Instead of noticing Kongming's inner turmoil, the Kaslana was still going on with her thoughts until she was interrupted.
"I mean, we have a vampire Teri here and all since she's from another world and.. wait. You're not Theresa, but then why do you two-"
"Kiana?" Piped up Theresa herself.
"Uh, yeah?"
"What are you doing here? Don't tell me you already finished your homework assignment?"
Kongming blinked for one reason, Kiana blinked for another.
"A-ah uh.. no.. I haven't.."
Theresa sighed before she dragged the chaotic bundle of energy away back to the study room.
This time, she was the only one who blinked again.
Right. They're from another world. A different world. There is certainly nothing to worry about..
Kongming sighed as she moved on to the other rooms.
"...This place is such a mess."
And as she said that, she regrets it for a brief moment soon after.
Upon stepping aside from the silver haired girls and walking into the other section, towards some strange futuristic white doors. She entered a dangerous sector, she knew immediately.
...
...
Clack.
"Hm. Your turn, woman."
"Well, this is getting fun, which is kinda weird from something so boring. I'd like to see what you're gonna do against this, kiddo."
Clack.
It was a very, very, quiet place in here. The only sounds were the flipping of a book, the subtle shifting on the fine white-blue couches, the sipping of tea, or just..
The clacking of some biconvex white and black stones on a wooden board being the loudest possible thing in here.. It wasn't like the chess she played, she noted.
The air in here would've felt menacing to an unaware individual, as if murderous and anything disrupting it would explode into a spiral of chaos.
..Save for the fact there was the soft lapping of waves or splashing of water in the background.
Kongming had interrupted the silent moment as the door suddenly closed behind her.
The placing of stones stopped, the two that sat with the board looked up at the visitors. So did the others, though some had went back to whatever they were doing.
"Oh? A newcomer? How bold of you to enter this place." A purple haired girl addressed her. Golden eyes looked up and down at her appearance.
"Don't intimidate like her that, Sirin. Now, be a nice girl and eat your food." A raven haired girl placed down a plate of something at the other larger table that smelled wonderful all the way from here.
The girl named Sirin had shot up from the current seat she was on and went over. She quickly reached the large table in such speed the Grand Seeress wasn't sure whether she was human.
"Wow. Never thought I'd see the great Void Queen subjugated by a few slices of pizza.. Speaking of that, Mei! I want some of that too. With a can of beer, yeah?" A red haired woman in something like a white blouse was pointing at said plate while putting down another white stone on the wooden board, the other seat now empty.
Kongming took another look at the woman. Now when she thought about it, with a different hairstyle and an eyepatch on, the red haired woman seriously would've looked like the Corsair Queen-
"While I can get you that, a can of beer won't do. Himeko-sensei, it's not good for your health to keep drinking."
"Oh come on! You know I can't do with-"
"Himeko-sensei. That won't do. You should listen to Mei or she might reconsider letting you have the slices." Fu Hua comments from the door, right behind Kongming.
Himeko threw her hands up in surrender, and the girl named Mei walked off with a smile. She towards the other door which the silver haired girl had the glimpse of a kitchen when it opened and closed.
"Ugh, fine. Anyways, what's the Theresa-looking person doing here anyway?"
The person in question held back a groan. "For the last time I am not-"
"She's Zhuge Kongming from another world."
She disliked getting interrupted, but she'll let it slide this time.
"Wow. That's blunt of you. How did she get h- actually, nevermind. I don't wanna ask that question. It's Captain again isn't it.." Himeko groaned.
"It is. But we shall move to another topic. How is the board game?"
"Weiqi? It's kinda interesting. It's somewhat nothing like chess even though they looked kinda similar with the design and all. All these board games you've shown are stuff I've never heard of."
Fu Hua pushed up her imaginary glasses. (She doesn't have them on at the moment, it was a force of habit.) "Well, it looks like you two are in a forced situation to pass, how about I show a new one?"
A nod was all she was given. The Valkyrie walked over to a cabinet and took out a box. She swapped it with the current board game on the table with ease and opened it.
Kongming walked over and slightly widened her eyes upon looking at the contents that were slowly placed on the table.
"Favored by one of the few Lords of the Warring States period and also based on astronomy."
"Huh. Fu Hua, you sure know your stuff."
A thin ghost of a smile appeared on her lips upon hearing that before she glanced at the silver haired girl.
"I do. But you rather seem quite interested when I took out the box. Do you know this?"
Kongming opened her fan and slightly scoffed. "Of course I do. I have certainly played Xiangqi with the Captain before."
A pause.
"Were you the one who taught them?"
She was given an affirmative nod.
"We had only went for a few games, but the Captain was doing quite well on just their first game before they went off. I'll be helping to tutor Kiana now so Theresa can go for a break. There's no problem in leaving you to introduce the game, I assume?"
"Hmph. I see nothing wrong. My humble gratitude to you for showing me around this ship, though."
Kongming looked at Himeko and gave a rare smile. "Now, where shall I start?"
Fu Hua then gave a brief nod to the two before turning around to leave the room, hiding a smile to herself.
She doesn't seem to be the approachable kind at first, but then she fitted in with such ease. She seems to be enjoying herself now.
Somewhat, it reminded her of herself before she met Captain and the others, and now before she even realized it, she had already became apart of them.
It seems that the family of Hyperion could do wonders.
A/N: YES! I certainly did what you didn't expect..
Captain is gender-neutral! Might be a little tough to work with, but it's better on my end as a female captain if I want something that could be enjoyed by both ends.
I admit. I cannot, whatsoever, write a male character.
Also, I wasn't sure who to write about, but then it dawned on me. Which was to write about our great Starlit Astrologos!
On my end, she just recently joined my Hyperion after I entirely forgot about the event and had to sadly, give up the rewards that were waiting for me.
So I obtained her through Asterite. Yeah. She's almost at S. Just S. Not almost at SS or SSS, just S.
I'm already doing whatever my miserable ass can do at best, okay? don't give me that look of pity omg stop!1
Still doing my best to improve, thanks for reading!
