Welcome, fans, to my first Crossover attempt!
Those of you coming from my first story, Kenta Yamanaka, welcome back! To new readers, WELCOME! If you haven't read my other story, check it out!
This was an idea I came up with on a smoke break at work. I don't know how good it will be or if people even like the idea of a Percy J and Naruto crossover, but we'll see how this goes.
Let's begin!
Disclaimer – I do NOT own Naruto or Percy Jackson, though I wish I did… cuz then I'd be filthy rich.
Percy Jackson was torn. On one hand, they had defeated Chronos and saved the world! Yay! On the other hand, it had come at a great cost. Percy still was not sure how he felt about Luke; the only thing he did know was that because of his sacrifice, the battle had finally been won.
The Gods of Olympus had kept their word, and the gifts they had all received had been worthy of the victory they had won. Percy was content knowing that no Demigod would ever have to wonder who they were. The Gods had sword that they would claim all their children either by age thirteen or when they arrived at Camp Half-Blood. Whichever came first.
Percy sighed in annoyance. That damn prophecy that Rachel gave played on a continuous loop the second he relaxed.
"Seven half-bloods shall answer the call,
To storm or fire, the world must fall,
An oath to keep with a final breath,
And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death."
Well that wasn't cryptic. At ALL.
Percy turned over and roughly punched his pillow into a more comfortable shape. Satisfied with his work he turned back around to try and catch some Z's.
The high-pitched scream that erupted from his mouth would have made Annabeth fall to the ground in laughter.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
"Can't an Uncle come and spend some time with his favorite nephew?" Zeus asked amicably.
"Sure. If said Uncle wasn't the King of Olympus." Percy shot back.
Zeus sighed. "There has been… an incident. I am afraid you must once again take up arms and fight. I know, you just defeated Chronos and saved the world. But this mission… well this one goes above even my level."
Percy stared at his Uncle for several seconds. "What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
"I'm afraid I cannot share with you the details. There are powers at play that dwarf every God and Titan in our existence. At the dawn of time, when the first Gods were created, a pact was formed. Only a God can kill another God, but a war between Gods would likely destroy the very fabric of reality. Since this day, we have chosen Champions to fight in our stead. This is something you are familiar with already, Percy."
Percy gave his uncle an unimpressed look. That was putting it mildly.
"Another agreement of the pact is that we Gods would limit our dealings with mortals as much as we could. We would not meddle in their affairs; instead, letting them take the wheel and steer the boat of fate themselves."
Zeus stopped his absentminded pacing and stared Percy directly in his eyes.
"However, when a threat to a single world is in danger of spilling out into the reality of other worlds, the Gods must unite. However, we cannot directly interfere as I have said. So, we send out Champions to their worlds to fight in our stead. This, Percy, is what we have chosen you for."
"Hold the front door. Back it up. What the hell are you talking about? Other worlds? Other realities? Did Mr. D get to you with that laced wine he has been keeping?"
Zeus shook his head in exasperation. "I have no time to explain the finer details. Just know this. Our world, this world, is not the only world out there. There are hundreds, thousands. The universe is vaster than you can even comprehend. It is not an empty void like you were taught. It does not just stretch on and expand forever. It folds in upon itself. It twists and turns. There are dozens of other Percy's having the same conversation with dozens of other Zeus.' The universe is truly infinite, and the possibilities are even greater."
Zeus glanced at the various posters hanging around Percy's room before his eyes met Percy's once again.
"I must send you to another world. There is a coming threat. A mortal who is not mortal. A mortal whose powers rival Gods. The protector of their world has asked me to send a champion, and I must hold my end of the agreement. All twelve believe that you have the greatest chance of returning to us alive."
"What!? I don't even get a say in this? Gimme a break, dude! I just battled the damn Titans for you, and now you want to send me to some remote land, fight some more, and potentially die? Yeah, no thanks, Uncle."
"You do not have a choice." Zeus growled. "If we do not send a champion, our entire world will be erased from existence. That is the agreement. So, either you go and help the people of this land fight off the great evil that looms in the near future. Or, you refuse, and our entire world is whisked from existence. What say you?"
Percy groaned loudly in frustration. "What the hell, Zeus?! You know I can't refuse when you put it like that! This is underhanded and dirty, even from you. How long will I be gone? Where the hell am I even going?!"
Zeus snapped his fingers and a rip in reality formed dead center of Percy's room.
"You are going to a land called The Elemental Nations. It is a war-torn land. The soldiers who fight there utilize a unique source of power to enhance their own physical capabilities to inhuman levels. They can breathe fire, shoot lighting from their fingertips, bend the earth to their very will. They are fearsome warriors. This will be the greatest challenge you will ever face. But I have faith in you. Your father has faith in you."
Zeus placed his hand on Percy's head, sending a shiver down the teenagers back.
"What was that?"
"A small gift I can grant you. It will make communication with the natives much easier. You must go now. I will handle telling your friends where you are. There is a benefit to being a summoned champion. For every month that passes in the land you are sent to, only a single day shall pass in our world. Even if you spend a decade there, only three short months will have passed here on Earth. I do not expect your mission to take that long, but it will not be over and done with in just a few short weeks. Know, that whatever age you leave their world with, you will come back to our world the age that you were meant to be."
Percy nodded in acknowledgement. That was comforting at least. He was sixteen years old. He'd be pissed if he came back from this mission already in his twenties!
"Ok, when do I- AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Percy's scream of terror tore from his throat as Zeus forcefully shoved him through the tear in the fabric of reality.
Color and light rushed by Percy in a nauseating haze. He closed his eyes, the feeling of vertigo and disorientation slowly vanishing. On and on Percy's descent into the unknown continued.
What felt like hours, but for all Percy knew could have been mere minutes, the feeling of weightlessness vanished and the sensation of touching down on solid ground made Percy crack a single eye open.
His eyes flew wide open in shock and surprise.
Pure white light stretched in every direction as far as the eye could see.
"Great. I'm dead. Thanks a lot, Zeus!" Percy yelled into the endless abyss.
"Not quite, my boy." A deep voice sounded behind Percy in amusement. Percy whipped around, instantly jumping back in alarm.
"W-What the heck are you?! Are you a demon? Are you one of the prisoners who escaped from Tartarus?!" Percy yelled, fishing wilding in his pocket for Riptide.
"Relax, young man. I mean you no harm. It is I who made the request of Zeus to send for you. I am Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki." The man explained in a clam and patient voice.
"What's a Ootsoosukiki?" Percy asked fumbling over the words.
"It is my clan name." He answered patiently, a twinkle of mirth in his eyes.
"What's a clan? Is that like a family?"
"Hmm. Yes, I suppose so. Now, I have much to explain to you and extraordinarily little time to do so. Have a seat, young man. We may as well get comfortable."
To Percy's shock, a wooden chair appeared from thin air. Percy tentatively sat down. After testing the integrity of the phantom chair, he decided it was sturdy enough and plopped his full weight down on the wooden construct. Percy sighed in relief as the sturdy piece of furniture did not so much as even creak or groan in protest.
"Wonderful. Now, Percy. I know you have many questions. I am afraid that time will not allow me to answer all of them. I will explain matters that I deem most important to your survival. You will not interrupt me. You will speak on when spoken to. When I am finished, if there is enough energy left in this plane of existence, then I will answer as many questions as I can. You will have to learn the rest on your own. Do you understand me, young man?" The alien looking dude arched a non-existent eyebrow.
Percy was about to snark back with sarcastic reply when he noticed the man's eyes for the first time. They were an unnatural color. I pale purple. Concentric rings rippled out in perfectly symmetrical patterns from the unnaturally small iris.
Percy's skin crawled as the strange and alien eyes seemed to pulse with untold power.
Power he had felt only among that Gods of his world.
Percy gulped and nodded vigorously; his throat had suddenly grown dry.
The Ookootutuski dude smiled warmly at Percy's reply. "Excellent."
He held out his hand. Percy blinked. He blinked once more. He rubbed his eyes, making sure he wasn't hallucinating.
A large serving tray had literally appeared out of nowhere. A tea kettle, two cups, and small pastries adorned the polished silver tray. Okokosuki grabbed the kettle and poured steaming liquid into both delicate porcelain cups. He handed the first to Percy. Percy took the offered cup without so much as a fuss. Whatever this world was, Percy was liking it already.
Old Dude took a tentative sip of the light brown liquid in his own cup, sighing in appreciation. He opened those strange and powerful eyes, locking Percy in his gaze.
"Now, tell me, Percy. What do you know about Chakra?"
Percy knew he had heard the name before. But from where?! Wait, he remembered!
"Isn't that what those Old Monk dude's believe in. Life force or something you can tap into with meditation?"
Okokokosukiki snorted in laughter. "Not quite. Please listen carefully to what I am about to tell you. It may very well save your life in the very near future.
Percy leaned as far forward as he could without tumbling out of the chair. Anything that could possibly save his life was most definitely worth paying attention to for once.
***********************************PJ************************************************
"So, what you're saying is that I've basically been shoved into a world full of superheroes? This… Chakra? Yeah, chakra. Using it these shinobi can literally walk on water, breath fire, control the ground, literally anything?"
"Well, not everything. But, yes. Chakra allows humans to perform superhuman feats." Hagoromo said.
"Then what in the flying Pegasus am I doing here?! It sounds like these Ninja could storm into Camp Half-Blood and kill us all in seconds! What good is one sixteen-year-old kid going to do?!" Percy nearly shouted.
"Ah. That is where you are wrong. You will soon learn. Like not every Demi-God is created equal, neither are the ninja who roam these lands. There are truly some terrifying monsters in our world, yet the average ninja is no more dangerous than one of your Demi-God friends." Hagoromo smiled.
"Yeah, whatever, Old Man. Alright. What do you need me to do? Who do I have to defeat?" Percy asked in exasperation.
"Hmmm. I can't really say."
Percy stared at the weird looking old man. "What?"
"Yes, that's right. If I say too much, I could make everything worse. Plus, you are not even close to being ready to take on the greatest threats to our world."
"So, what in the heck am I supposed to do?!" Percy asked through clenched teeth.
"Go out. Explore the world. Make some friends. Do some training. You are in an entire new world, young man! Do you know how many beings in all the existences there are get this kind of opportunity?"
"I don't care! You ripped me from MY home. MY friends aren't here. My family isn't here. I don't want to make new friends. I have plenty of those back where I BELONG!"
Hagoromo smiled sadly. "I truly am sorry, Percy. But I can't send you back until the threat has been dealt with. You are here whether you like it or not. Why not make the best of it?"
Percy sighed heavily. This was NOT how he wanted to spend his summer. He wanted to be back in camp with his friends. With Annabeth…
"Fine. Since it looks like I have zero say in the matter, let's get started. The sooner I start, the sooner I can get home." Percy said.
"Very well. My last piece of advice. Do not trust anyone in this world until you are sure they can even be trusted. Shinobi are cunning and crafty warriors. They prefer to strike from the shadows. They are warriors of opportunity. Keep your wits about you. Do not draw attention to yourself. Shinobi are paranoid creatures. Trust your instincts. Your instincts are one of the main reasons you were chosen for this mission. Good luck, Percy."
"Yeah, yeah. I hear ya. Can you at least tell me what I should do when I first get there?" Percy asked, turning towards the old dude. Percy blinked. He was gone! He scanned his surroundings, looking for any sign of the alien man.
"Yes. Have fun!" Hagoromo's ghostly voice echoed in the void.
Percy opened his mouth, the only sound escaping a pained yelp as the light around him increased to blinding levels.
He shut his eyes tight, knowing if he opened them, he'd have a killer headache and some wicked black spots in his vision.
Without warning, the light behind Percy's eyelids vanished. Percy tentatively cracked a single eye open, just a smidge. Percy gasped, and both eyes shot open wide.
He was… where the hell was he?!
In every direction, a thick fog clung to the earth. Shadowy silhouettes dotted the scenery around him. Percy was able to see that most of them were some type of tree; at least he hoped they were trees. Considering he was in a world with superheroes, he wouldn't be surprised if they also had man eating stick people or even demons.
Ok, probably not demons. Those were rare, even in his world where Tartarus existed.
Percy snorted, mentally laughing at himself for such a silly thought.
He glanced around, trying to get his bearings in the thick fog. He waved his hand through the fog, his skin tingling just a tiny bit. Percy brought his hand to his face, noticing the small beads of water clinging to his skin. This water felt… different, somehow, to the water back on Earth. It was strange, it was like there was an energy in this water that he never felt back on Earth. Even the sea and ocean water didn't make him feel so… alive!
Percy took a deep breath, sighing in bliss as the damp air filled his lungs.
Percy's head snapped to the right. He thought he had heard… Yes! That sounds like metal striking metal. Was someone fighting close by?
Percy took off in the direction the sound had just came from. Every step he took, the sounds of battle grew louder and louder. The metallic ringing of weaponry clashing became more frenzied. Whoever was fighting, they were picking up the pace. Percy did the same, breaking into a fast jog.
Step by step, the sounds grew louder and louder. Grunts of pain and unintelligible voices soon joined the clanging of metal.
"Water Release: Exploding Water Wave!" A male voice called out. Percy heard the sound of rushing water followed quickly by a scream of pain.
Finally, he saw shadows flitting about. Where those… Large birds? They were moving incredibly fast! Without warning, two shadows quickly rushed his way. Ten feet away, he got his first glimpse of what the humans looked like in this world.
Percy sighed in relief. They looked normal! He was afraid they would all have creepy purple eyes and horns on their heads. Aside from their clothes, they looked just like the people back on earth. The two strangers were nearly in his face.
"I don't know who you are, but if you don't want to die, I suggest you get out of here." The taller of the two said as he rushed by Percy.
"Wha..?" Percy asked dumbly, turning back in the direction the two were running from. "AH! GHOSTS!"
Human shaped figures were hot on the heels of the two strangers. Percy quickly counted a dozen of them. They all had pale faces and dead black eyes.
Without thought, Percy snapped his hands forward, the copious amounts of water bending to his will with zero resistance. The water rushed forward, ensnaring the dozen ghosts in a sphere of water. Percy breathed a sigh of relief. He quickly noticed that in the heat of the moment, the white faces that made him think of ghosts were actually super creepy masks. One of the masked dudes began to move his hands in a strange sequence of odd hand signs. He thrust his hands forward.
Nothing happened.
Percy cocked his head to the side, staring at the man in confusion. The man himself looked down at his hands as if they had just betrayed him.
"Well, that's not something you see every day." The voice that had told him to run said from beside Percy.
Percy jumped, nearly losing his hold on the water sphere.
"It is quite fascinating. How does a person with no chakra use the 'Water Prison Technique' on such a large scale?" A melodic voice said to Percy's right, causing him to jump once more.
"Water Prison? No, I just… Wait, who the hell are you two? And who the hell are these guys?!" Percy near shouted in confusion.
"Doesn't matter." Tall dude grunted. "Hurry up and kill these idiots and we can finally erase our trail."
"K-k-kill them?" Percy sqeaked in fear.
"What? Don't tell me you've never killed anyone? Here, it's easy, I'll show you." Tall dude said, unclipping the unnessarily large sword on his back.
"Wait! Why do you have to kill them?" Percy asked, stopping the man in his tracks.
"They're hunter nin. The only way they stop chasing you is if you erase them from this world." He answered.
Percy turned to the person on his right, noticing that they were standing awfully close, and that they were awful pretty.
'Holy crap. She might be prettier than Annabeth.' Percy thought, ears burning.
The young women noticed Percy's gaze and smiled warmly at him. "Though I do not like to kill either, my master is correct. If we do not kill them, they will eventually track us down and kill us."
"But… why are they trying to kill you?" Percy asked the girl.
"We don't have time for this. Either you kill them, or I do. Just know this, kid. If you let them live, they've seen your face. You're on their list now too." Tall guy said ominously.
Percy cursed under his breath, not even thinking of that possibility. Not even an hour into this new world and he was already waist deep in crap.
"I… I don't think I can kill them." Percy admitted quietly.
"Tch. You're as soft as the rest of them. Can you at least keep them in there until they pass out? I'll finish them off."
Percy nodded. "I can do that. Can you just… wait until they're all unconscious so I don't have to watch?"
"Sure. Whatever, kid."
Percy smiled. "Thanks, mister."
Percy noticed that one of the people in the sphere had lost consciousness. He focused all his energy on the spot they passed out at. The water around their unconscious body stirred, and in seconds they were ejected from the sphere. One by one, more unconscious forms began to fall to the ground. When the last body fell, Percy released his hold on the water.
Percy looked down at his hands. 'Wow. That hardly took any energy at all. And the water here responded to me with barely a thought. This is great!'
"You have five seconds to get as far away from here before I start taking their heads." Tall guy said, interrupting Percy's internal musings.
Percy nodded. He turned on his heels, intending to get as far away from the sounds as possible. The second his back was turned; the unmistakable sound of metal meeting flesh rang in the air. Percy flinched.
'Should have expected that.' He thought to himself. Percy stopped moving, closing his eyes and covering his ears. Seconds later, the pretty girl was tapping him on the shoulder.
"Come. We'll let master finish this up. You've bought us some time. We can make camp and rest for a while." She held out her hand. Percy glanced down at the offered hand. Percy hesitated only a few moments before taking her hand in his own. She immediately began to walk in the opposite direction, Percy in tow.
They walked in silence for nearly thirty minutes. Percy had no idea what to say, and it seems the girl was content with the silence. After a while, Percy noticed that the fog was starting to thing slightly.
"This looks like a good place. We won't be able to make a fire, the wood here is too damp. Do you have any supplies?" She asked Percy.
"Um. No." Percy said lamely.
"I see. Are you lost? I didn't think that there were any villages nearby."
"I, um… to be honest, I have no idea where I am."
"Oh, you poor thing. Where are you from? Can you remember that?"
Percy opened his mouth but then closed it. The words of that freaky old dude ringing in his mind.
"I just woke up in the clearing. I have no idea where I'm from or how I got here. The only thing I really remember is my name." Percy said, shrugging sheepishly and smiling in embarrassment.
The girl frowned, her eyes showing her pity. "Well. That just won't do. Come, let's set up camp while we wait for master."
"No need to wait." Tall dude said, appearing out of thin air right beside Percy.
Percy screamed and fell backword. "Holy shit! How did you do that!?"
"Body-Flicker." He said off-handedly. He turned to the girl. "What's his story? Do we need to take care of him?"
Percy began to sweat instantly, a strange feeling in the air had his adrenaline pumping and his heartbeat increasing.
"No, Master. The poor boy has amnesia. The only thing he remembers is his name." She told him.
"You believe him?" He asked, glancing sideways at Percy who was still frozen in fear on the ground.
"Yes, Master. He means us no harm."
"Tch. Fine." He turned to Percy. "What's your name, boy?"
The feeling in the air vanished. Percy let out a shaky breath and pushed himself to his feet. His legs still trembled a bit, but the adrenaline was quickly leaving his system.
Percy extended his hand. "Percy. Percy Jackson. Who're you?"
Tall dude narrowed his eyes in disgust at Percy's proffered hand. "Zabuza Momochi. Your name is weird."
"The hell? You're one to talk." Percy said, narrowing his own eyes.
The girl jumped between the two glaring men. "My name is Haku. No family name."
Percy tore his gaze away from the rude giant and smiled at the nice girl. "Nice to meet you, Miss Haku."
Haku giggled and Zabuza let out a low chuckle.
"What? Did I say something funny?" Percy asked in confusion.
Haku shook her head. "No, Percy. You're fine."
"Alright, enough of that. Make camp. After we do that, we're going to tell you our story, Percy. After that, you can decide what you wanna do. I could use a power like yours, but I also won't accept some weakling who can't take care of themselves. Got it?"
Percy shot the man a withering glare. "Screw you, dude. I'll take you on any day."
"You sure about that, kid?" Zabuza whispered from behind Percy.
Percy froze, standing ramrod straight, the touch of cold metal at the base of his skull causing the cold sweat to break out once more.
'I didn't even see him move! Why the HELL was I chosen to come here?! I can't keep up with this kind of speed. Wait, does the Achilles Curse work in this world?'
Percy leaned back into the cold metal feeling nothing put pressure. He grinned in satisfaction. He turned on the spot, smiling widely up at the shocked face of Zabuza.
"100%. You might be faster than me, but if you can't even hurt me, I'll eventually win." Percy said with a cocky smirk.
Zabuza composed himself and shot the boy his own smirk. "Kid. With you and Haku as my tools, no one is going to be able to stop us. Rest up, we've got a long day tomorrow. You might be skilled, but you're still a dull tool. I plan on sharpening you until you can cut steel."
Percy gulped audibly, not at ALL liking the glint of crazy in the man's eyes.
'Zeus! What the HELL did you get me into?! I swear to The Gods, I WILL murder you if I make it out of this alive!'
And so, Percy's journey begins in the Elemental Nations meeting our favorite Kiri missing Nin and Haku!
What did you all think? Let me know :D
I don't know when/how often I will work on/update this story. Once Kenta is complete though, this will be the main focus. I'll try to get a chapter out at least once a month until then. Maybe every other week? We'll see how well the creative juices flow.
