One Week Trip

To say Jaune Arc didn't have many friends wasn't an understatement. In his year at Beacon, he hadn't been the most popular. Considering he entered the academy as one of the weakest, his reputation wasn't really stellar.

But that didn't mean he had none, his closest friends namely, team RWBY and his own team were going to be having a 'Cross-Team Bonding' experience. Which is basically just a group vacation to someone's house.

They were currently discussing where to hold said vacation. Ruby and Yang's house was a big no, since their dad was home and they weren't all girls. Nora and Ren didn't quite have a house, Blake couldn't accommodate either because she ran from home.

All there was left was Jaune, Pyrrha and Weiss.

"Weiss? What about you? Don't you have anywhere we could stay at over the summer?" Ruby asked with her sad puppy eyes.

"We do... but would you like staying in the Atlas?" Weiss asked calmly, knowing her teammate's answer.

Ruby sighed, "Who else... Pyrrha?" she looked toward the red haired spartan sitting across her.

Pyrrha smiled sadly, "I'm sorry Ruby..."

Ruby's head hit the table, "Awwww"

Jaune felt bad for Ruby, he knew how much she wanted to spend time with her friends. It brought a twinge of sadness to his heart as he saw his first friend at Beacon be so down.

"Uhm... Ruby?" Jaune called to her.

"Yes Jaune?" she asked with hopeful eyes.

"If I ask... Maybe we can stay at the Arc manor? Y'know... My house" Jaune told her.

Ruby instantly lit up, she grasped both of Jaune's hands and excitedly. She positioned her face close to Jaune, who was surprised. Too close Ruby...

Jaune blushed at the sudden closeness, her rosy cheeks yet pale skin. He got a whiff of her sweet scent which was akin to freshly baked cookies which she loved so much, and her beautiful silver eyes which seemed to gleam with joy at his suggestion. What the heck- get a grip!

She asked him with a cute and excited smile, "Really!?"

Jaune looked away, "Y-yeah!"

Ruby finally noticed how close she was, red slowly creeping to her cheeks as she noticed how they must have looked. She instantly detached from the blonde boy. She looked at a smirking Yang, Oh no...

"T-thank you Jaune..."

"Oh uhm, no problem. You guys should ask permission first and uh...stuff..."

Jaune and his team were already done with their food and started heading out, "I'll tell you guys when we're going, so uh...yeah..." Jaune said awkwardly as he waved.

Ruby waved back and answered "okay!"

As soon as JNPR were out of the cafeteria Yang looked to Ruby, "Saw how you were eyeing Vomit Boy there sis. Gotta say, you were more forward then I thought..."

Ruby blushed bright red as Yang couldn't stop her laughter any longer, "Hahaha that was gold"

Weiss rolled her eyes at her leader and her sister's antics "Ruby, are you sure about this?" Weiss asked.

Ruby pushed Yang out of the way, "I mean, yeah. Isn't it just Jaune?"

"Well... How are you going to convince your father? Didn't you guys say something about him being over protective?" Weiss asked pointing her fork at the young leader

"I mean...Blake!" Ruby looked toward their silent companion.

Blake looked over toward her team, "In my opinion, it should be fine. Jaune is pretty trustworthy, besides I doubt he would do something like this with bad intentions." she then proceeded to go back to reading her book.

"See?" Ruby gestured to Blake

Weiss brought out a sigh "Ok fine, but the second he tries to serenade me or anything of the sort you're taking the brunt of it"

Ruby smiled, "I promise!"

"Awfully eager of you to take those terms sis, bet you just wanna be serenaded by the resident Vomit Boy" Yang teased, Ruby pouted cutely as the red on her cheeks were that were already fading flare up once more.

"You should see your face! You're a like a tomato at this point!" Yang laughed even harder "Stop it!" Ruby shouted to her sister.

Ruby was quite honestly excited for this trip, she was going to a friend's house. They were gonna hang out for a week over the summer, and maybe more if they had time. She couldn't wait

"So uh, mom?"

"Yes Jaune?"

"I uh...is it okay if I bring friends over for like a week or two?"

"Of course honey, are they staying with us here at the main manor or the beach house?"

Jaune racked his brain, the Arcs had more than a few properties yet most of them were from either a middle of nowhere town or in a city. Exception being the beach house which was in Ansel as well but near the beach(duh).

Jaune would've asked Ruby, but Nora heard the conversation "Beach! Renny! Jauney said we are gonna stay at their beach house!"

"We have to get swimsuits then" Ren said nervously, it was going to be a long day.

"Yep! Fearless leader! Can we stay at the beach house?"

Jaune smiled "Sure Nora, just a sec"

Nora cheered and exited the room pulling Ren with her to go shopping, much to the boy's dismay.

"I think we'll borrow the beach house mom"

"Okay!"

"We'll come over in a two days is that okay?"

"Just call me and I can meet you at the house, and give you the key. After that, we should be out of your way" Jaune's mother said with a cheery voice.

"Thanks mom, love you"

"Love you too, sweetie"

Jaune hung up and immediately texted his partner "Hey Pyr, I asked my mom and she said we were gonna stay over at our beach house. Just wanted ya to know"

Pyrrha, who was in the training room, heard her scroll get a notification. She read the text and replied "Oh, that's wonderful Jaune! Thanks for telling me"

Pyrrha closed her scroll and thought about the trip. Jaune shirtless and in swimming trunks, his abs glistening in the light of the afternoon sun. Pyrrha felt something creeping down her nose, she lifted her hand toward it. It was blood... she was nosebleeding?

Pyrrha wiped it away with a cloth, she had to get a new swimsuit. She thought to herself, "Maybe I can win him over... no no no that's not..."

She blushed, she decided there and then that she would tell Jaune how she felt or maybe win him over. The Champion now had a new goal.

While Pyrrha was thinking of what she should wear and where to buy it. Jaune had exited their dorm room and went across the hallway to team RWBY's

He knocked on the door, "Uh Ruby?"

Jaune heard a shuffling sound after which, a thud and some mumbled words. Ruby opened their door to greet Jaune, "hey Jaune, what's up?"

"About the trip, my mom said she was letting us use a beach house. I kinda wanted to inform you. We'll be going in two days"

"Thanks Jaune, I'll tell the team" Ruby said with a smile and a nod.

Jaune turned away to go back to his team's dorm, but he felt a small tug on the back of his hoodie. He looked around and it was Ruby, she was looking down as if she was afraid to tell him something.

"Jaune uhm... T-thank you... About the trip thing, it really means a lot" she told him nervously.

Jaune turned around fully and pat her head, "No problem Ruby, I guess it's my way of thanking you and your team for helping us as well

Ruby smiled as well, 'This doesn't feel bad at all...' she thought

She hugged Jaune.

Jaune was surprised, sure but he had the decency to return Ruby's hug. It lasted for only a second before Ruby let go of him.

"I'll see you guys in two days at the docks" Jaune waved to Ruby.

"Yeah..." Ruby said shyly as she closed the door.

Jaune felt happy about what just happened. For some reason, it made him feel warm inside Maybe she's interested in me.... He shook his head, Come on man, she probably won't give you the time of day, friend hug! FRIEND HUG!

Jaune suddenly got slightly sad after thinking that, he went back to JNPR's dorm.

Ruby closed the door, taking a few seconds to recuperate "Team! Jaune said we were going to the beach!"

"Oh wow, Vomit boy finally showing some guts" Yang remarked.

"What do you mean Yang?" Ruby asked curiously.

"I mean, what do girls wear when we go to the beach?"

Ruby answered matter of factly, "Swimsuits, duh. I still don't understand what you mean."

"Yang probably means Jaune invited us over to see us in bikinis" Blake told her flatly

"What!? He won't do that!" Ruby shouted, defending her first friend. At the same time Weiss screamed.

"The nerve of that fool! I knew it was something like this"

Yang looked toward Weiss " I'm joking Weiss, plus I doubt Vomit Boy has that sort of intention"

"You don't know that! I say we go some other place. Right Blake?" Weiss suggested looking toward the only person in the room who had the possibility of not wanting to go.

"I think it's fine. Jaune isn't that kind of guy" Blake said not looking up from her book.

"See! Even Blakey agrees" Yang crossed her arms smugly.

Weiss sighed, "But still!"

"If you're still worried about it. Why dont we put it to a vote? All in favor for the trip?" Ruby asked

"Aye" Yang said draping her arm on Ruby's shoulder.

Blake raised her hand, which meant she wanted to go too. Weiss looked around, "Fine... However! If he tries anything-"

"Yes yes, like you said we'll take the brunt of it" Yang waved it off going toward her bed and reaching out for a magazine.

"Okay girls! Since it's the beach we are going shopping!"

As Yang said this Ruby sighed, "But Yang..."

Yang pat Ruby in the back "Now now, don't worry sis. We'll just buy the stuff we need, like swimsuits, sunblock and all that fun stuff."

"Oh okay"

"Off to the mall" Yang shouted as she dragged Weiss, Blake and Ruby out of the room. Much to their dismay.

Team RWBY had spent their afternoon buying swimsuits and other necessities as the aforementioned sunblock and towels as well as extra clothes and a beach ball.

Right now they sat in a restaurant in downtown Vale, the team was tired after all of that walking and buying things.

As they were eating Yang asked Ruby out of nowhere, "So Ruby, about Jaune..."

Ruby whipped her head toward her sister "Yes? What about Jaune?" Ruby took a bite off of her cookie as she replied.

"Do you like him?" Yang asked.

"W-w-what!? Quit messing with me Yang!" Ruby flailed her arms at her sister.

Yang laughed softly "I'm serious sis, do you like him"

"Of course I like him he's my first friend!"

Weiss shook her head at her partner's ignorance "She means if you like him romantically"

Ruby looked at Weiss and slumped in her chair "I mean... I don't know..."

Yang pat Ruby in the back "Don't worry sis everyone will fall in love at some point"

Ruby laughed lightly "I guess... But I really don't know if I like-like him... you know?"

After the soft pats to Ruby's back Yang hit her sister on the top of her head, "What do you mean 'You don't know if you like-like him'!?"

Weiss nodded as Ruby covered her head with a pained expression "As much as I'd hate to admit it, it does look that way from a certain standpoint"

"But... I mean..."

Ruby started but Blake finally interjected "Guys, I think it's best for Ruby to figure it out by herself."

The three looked to Blake, "Ruby try to imagine Jaune with some other girl. How would you feel? Think about it and you'll come to a conclusion eventually"

"Wow Blakey, you're surprisingly insightful about romance... is it the smut books? " Yang whispered to her teammate who froze a little but heaved a sigh.

"Even I had a boyfriend before Yang" She told the Brawler who shrugged.

Suddenly a lightbulb went off in Yang's head "Ruby! What do you like about Jaune?"

"I told you, I don't know if I like-like hi-"

"No I mean, even as a friend" Yang told her, Weiss looked at Yang with surprise in her eyes.

Ruby racked her brain on what to say and she ended up just stating her honest thoughts "Well... Jaune is an honest guy, he works really hard by himself and with his team. He wants to better himself for the future and he has dreams of being a hero, like me. He's always there if I need him and he's also around to talk to. Plus he gets along with my... being nerdy... and we even play games and read comics together sometimes..."

Ruby thought of more reasons but 'his kind and honest blue eyes that show that he cares, his blonde hair that seems to give him a sense of imperfection. His kind words to me as well when I was down... I.. I...' Ruby blushed, she didn't know anymore. The rest of the evening, the girls went back to Beacon and rested their bodies after their haul.

Ruby sat on her bed, staring at the night sky which could be seen in an opening on the curtain. She thought deeply about what Blake had said and what she felt.

'I'm so confused...'

Ruby laid on her bed thinking, is Jaune just a really close friend? If he was... then why was there a twinge of sadness when she thought of him with someone else...

"I'll deal with that tomorrow" she whispered to herself as she slept.

Still practicing here!Sorry if I took like seven years to upload this, it was because I wrote revision after revision.
