Chapter 1 Lost Forever
(Location: somewhere in Mantle region Atlas Solitus continent Kingdom of Atlas Remnant)
It all felt like a bad dream, so many things happened that made her think she was dreaming. Everything was going so well since arriving to Atlas. Ruby hold her tears she thought her team and her friends will be safe once they arrive into the kingdom. Boy she was wrong and she's started making mistake after mistake. Starting with not telling Ironwood the truth about Salem that she was immortal. Oscar didn't said a word for the time being and with Ozpin sealing himself in his mind he wasn't planning in helping any time soon. Everything was her fault because keeping that secret from the General lead to him to betraying them abandoning the people of Mantle in order to save his people. Ordering the Ace Ops to apprehend them as he was ready to use the Relic of Creation to levitate the kingdom so Salem doesn't reach it. Salem, she knew her mother and what was this horrible she didn't understood.
Her team were able to stopped the Ace Ops and the only thing she thought was escaping. Regroup and try to come up with a plan, after knowing Salem was coming. Meaning the presence of Watts and Tyrian were all part of her plans. They were decoys to buy the Grimm Witch time to arrive. And by the time they realized the truth, it was too late. The tears were still falling losing count how it has come to this. They were able to get Penny, Weiss and everyone except her uncle and Oscar. Penny has somehow become the new Winter Maiden after Fria died and Cinder escaped. After another encounter with her silver eyes. But the Fall Maiden got the last laugh as she was able to take the Lamp of Knowledge from Jaune, Ren, Nora and Oscar thanks to Neo. So they lost a relic, they were wanted by the Atlas Military and Salem will be knocking on the kingdom's door soon. It wouldn't get any worse.
Once again she was wrong. After successfully escaping on a ship they picked up a communication from the military detecting unknown readings. They found out it was a giant whale Grimm, nothing they have ever seen before. It was huge and it was flying, really knew for everyone. It was being followed by a massive group of flying Berringels, that was also new. Berringels weren't flying Grimm until now. The creatures eventually damaged the ship as Maria did her best to control it but it was no use, they were going to crash. Even then, the Berringels were still attacking it, destroying it piece by piece. They did their best but their numbers were too great. Not to mention some were almost out of aura because they have fought before boarding the ship. The ship crashed down as it blew out. Everything went black until recently when Ruby was able to open her silver eyes.
When she woke, she was no longer on the ship. She was alone, not a single one of her friends. Wounded from the crash and her aura was low so her wounds weren't healing. Then it happened, so fast she didn't saw it coming as someone ran to her putting themselves in front of her. The sword pierced his flesh and body as her eyes widened from the horror. The thrust was so strong that it stabbed her too, Ruby coughed blood. Her aura was low so her wounds won't be able to heal. Before her stood Cinder with an evil grin on her features. She has managed to land a fatal blow on her and…Ruby was beyond shocked. The person that got in front of her was none other than Jaune. The blond was having a hard time trying to breathe or speak. The red cloak girl was already in tears not believing he did this as an attempt to save her. Her hands reached for his face as he was coughing so much blood.
Cinder kept her grin as someone slowly approached her she had the lamp of Knowledge strapped on her back. It was Neo who was grinning though it annoyed her she didn't got the chance to kill Ruby and her revenge for her boss and friend Roman Torchwick. The Fall Maiden was truly pleased as her bad mood was erased. She has a relic and kill the red bitch that made her lose her eye and arm. She hold her hatred for too long going against Salem's orders and now with killing the silver eyed girl. The witch told her clearly she wanted her alive and she could care less if she gets upset with her. She will bring her lamp of Knowledge and if that's not enough she can kill her. Because it didn't bother or worry her, her vengeance has been fulfilled. And the blond weakling who failed to protect his partner chose to sacrifice himself for little red. It took her so long but she finally did it, revenge is truly a dish best served cold. It is quite true.
"Fools that fight together, die together" said the Fall Maiden.
"Jaune...W...Wh...Why?" the silver eyed petite stared at the Arc.
His face turned to her and even with all the blood and pain he was feeling, he was able to give her a smile. The sight of it broke her heart was she going to die here. Were both going to die.
"I couldn't let it happen again. I failed to protect Pyrrha, there was nothing I could do. I saw you from afar and I couldn't help it but run and try to save you. This time, I can do something. Silly me, looks like I have failed again I'm so sorry Ruby…."
The girl did all she could to summon any strength left, the silver eyes why couldn't she use them like last time. Just when she needed to use them, they failed her. Maybe because she was too weak, no aura and she was standing at death's door. Both were still stabbed through Cinder's sword. The Maiden was enjoying this so much two year's worth waiting. Or she can tell Salem the girl got killed by a Grimm she was very confident the witch will welcome her back if she shows her the relic. That leaves the Staff of Creation, she will obviously go after that robot and claim her powers, then open the Vault at Atlas Academy to take the relic. If she has two relics, Salem will definitely forgive her for her past failures. How she wish to see Watt's face when he finds out. She will take all the credit. Finally, the woman grew tired as she removed the sword, the two bodies fell to the snowy ground.
"Don't worry Ruby. I haven't forgotten about your friends, your sister, your uncle and your robot friend. I will find them all and kill them one by one. I will take the greatest of pleasure in taking the lives of those you hold dear. They will all face my wrath as Salem will conquer Atlas and Mantle."
The red cloak girl glared in tears her body was too weak, it was starting to give up on her.
"You...How can you be so cold hearted?" spoke the weak Jaune" you feel nothing killing people. Don't you regret anything...?"
"I do regret not killing your red friend sooner and I do feel something. I'm not as emotionless as you think I am. I feel great joy killing my enemies."
"You monster...I hate you…."
"The feeling's mutual. Must suck being you, never accomplish anything in your life being the weakest of the group. Nothing but a black sheep just what Ozpin saw in you anyway?"
The Arc grew so angry noticing Crocea Mors was too far along with the shield. With what little strength he had, he was able to get on his knees. It was impossible to get up this was all he could do. Fazing the amber eyed woman, he spit on her face. Cinder glared removing the disgusting spit. How dare he, she will make him pay.
"Still playing hero even when you know you have lost. How pathetic."
And once again she stabbed him with her sword. That was it, Jaune's eyes closed as life left his body. Ruby saw everything and so much anger filled her very own soul. Her eyes were slowly glowing of silver. Neo saw this and gasped as she warned the Maiden. She gazed at the ice cream girl turning to the red reaper. Amber eyes widened in shock as the girl shouted in hatred releasing a powerful silver beam that hit the woman completely. It lit up the field in the Mantle region, any Grimm that got caught was destroyed. It was so wide it reached all the way to Atlas. Probably every single creature was wiped out. Ruby finally went unconscious after, her heart stopped beating as she died along with the Arc. Both bodies were lied together as if their fate was connected.
Ruby's eyes have suddenly opened as she got up, the poor girl was bewildered. Was everything a dream when it felt so real. It has to be real, their ship crashing, getting separated from the others, engaging Cinder and losing, Jaune protecting her dying in the process. If it was a dream it has to be the worse nightmare she has had in her entire life. The petite took notice of her surroundings, no snow this didn't look like the outskirts of Mantle or the Solitus continent. She was surrounded by green life, so much grass and beautiful flowers. Everywhere there were trees, grass, flowers it was just amazing. There were also some buildings that looked very old like they were ruins. Her eyes widened, what about Jaune. If it wasn't a dream then he just like her, they're both dead. The red cloak girl wanted to deny it and this place could be the other side. Where good people go when they passed on.
"Jaune!"
She ran to the unconscious blond who wasn't that far. Checking his pulse, he was fine. A sigh of relief came over her as she remembered those events clear as day. The Arc got in front of her trying to protect her from Cinder's attack but she got hurt too. Tears filled her eyes remembering his words. He wanted to protect her because he couldn't with Pyrrha. The blond was still on the past it wasn't his fault, it was hers. She was present when she reached the top of Beacon tower and the amber eyed woman fired that arrow on the red head Huntress. She watched as the arrow hit her heart and the Fall Maiden touched her head turning her into ashes. Just like that, she was gone. So it was her fault she couldn't protect or save her. Ruby lifted his body as she wrapped her arms around him giving a few sobs. Not realizing he was slowly opening his eyes coming to. A groan escaped his lips as the petite removed her arms and got up letting him fall to the ground.
"Ow…."
"Sorry!" she went to his side again drying her tears immediately.
"Uh...Ruby?" his blue eyes widened" where…."
"I don't know" she looked around.
The Arc got up looking at his surroundings. Okay, this was new. Last thing he remembered they were in the snow, it was cold the opposite of where they are. His memory was still vivid remembering that he and the silver eyed girl were killed in battle. Killed by Cinder Fall when an army of Grimm arrived to Atlas and Mantle, the ship crashing because it got attacked by flying Berringels. Yet, here he was, here was the red cloak girl. He had no idea what was going on, this was so confusing. Was it all a dream and they were somewhere in Solitus. It didn't made sense because the continent is cold filled with snow. This was just, too beautiful and what with those old buildings not that far. What about the others, could they somehow be here too. He needed answers and soon.
"Okay…This is. What is this place?"
"I'm as clueless as you. I just woke up."
"All right. Can we say what just happened was a dream?"
"I don't think so. It was too real Jaune, I think we're-"
"No don't say it! We can't be, I mean Ren, Nora, Oscar, Maria…."
"Weiss, Yang, Blake, uncle Qrow" resumed the silver eyed girl" I'm just like you. We got killed and we end up wherever this is."
"Or whatever this place is. I just can't believe it. We...It's really is over. I can't believe we died, we're so young."
"You wouldn't have died if you didn't try to play her" Ruby sounded upset.
"Excuse me?"
"What were you thinking dummy?! You protected me from Cinder and-"
"But nothing I would have done it again without thinking. It didn't helped anyway, you died I failed...Again" he whispered the last part.
"Jaune…." the petite's upper lip started trembling getting emotional again.
"So we're really dead then, that means this must be the afterlife. If the others aren't here they're not dead."
Jaune being optimistic as usual making the red cloak girl smiled. He will always try so hard to sound positive just like her. But it was hard for her to remain in such high spirit after what just happened. She was worried sick for everyone, all those Grimm attacking, Cinder and Salem. The reaper tried not to think about it because it will only lead to more tears. What were the others doing, were they safe, what about the people of Mantle, Atlas, Ironwood, Oscar and her uncle. Neither of the two weren't with them. She already missed them specially her older sister. Ruby was lost in thought until a pair of arms on her shoulders brought her back to reality.
"Hey, try to calm down. I know it's not easy but let's just figure things out."
"Yeah...Like, what is this place? Is it really this Heaven place my dad told me about?"
"It has to be that is if we're really dead. But I don't see anyone you think there will be someone to greet us or show us some paperwork."
"Paperwork what are you talking about?" the petite couldn't help but laughed" you think they have a list of all the people that die?"
"Well yeah, that's what my mom told me. They check your name and if you appear on their list they will decide if you get to be in paradise or the other place."
"Other place?"
"You know, the one below the ground the fiery one?"
"The bad place, right. Maybe we should look around if we can find anyone."
"Is anyone out there?!" shouted the Arc.
"HELLO!" Ruby shouted louder" we're dead I think and we need um...Guidance or something!"
"Can you at least tell us if we're dead and this is The Heaven?!"
"This is the birth place of my ancestors."
A new voice spoke shocking both teens, so they weren't alone here after all. It appeared right before them a brilliant bright light as it took the form of a woman but they couldn't see who she is. The light was covering her body, hiding her face from view.
"Are you an angel?" Jaune was in awe his mom also told him about the celestial beings that ruled over Heaven.
"I know this is hard to understand. You two have recently died in a battle and find yourselves in unfamiliar ground."
Ruby and Jaune lowered their heads so it was true. They were dead, Cinder did killed them.
"This is not the place you are hoping to be. As I said, this is where my ancestors were born. They created this paradise using the power of mako giving life to nature."
"Mako?" blinked the silver eyed girl.
"Uh…." the Arc had no idea either.
"I suppose it's better to get to the details. You know you were killed and this is not this Heaven you speak off. You're not in your world anymore, your souls have been sent here instead."
Both teens looked at each other. It will make sense if they died they left Remnant. Their bodies disappeared and their souls move on to the afterlife. But if this wasn't Heaven then why were they here.
"I know it's so sudden, you don't know me and I'm being selfish by asking a lot of you. It is not your time as you will be able to live again, you will be given life."
"What?"
"You're kidding?" the blond was shocked.
"You mean you can bring us back to our world?" Ruby was about to tear up please let it be true.
"I'm afraid that is impossible. You two died, you left your world and cannot return I'm sorry."
"Then why tell us we'll be able to live again that it's not our time?!" Jaune got upset was this being playing with them.
"Not in your world at least. But in another one, a world that is in constant suffering and on the brink of extinction."
"What are you talking about?" asked the red cloak reaper.
"Jaune Arc and Ruby Rose, don't be shock I already knew your names for it was the planet that told me. It was also the planet that brought you here and it's will wants you to go to my world and save it."
"The planet wants us to save it?" the Arc was getting more confuse by the minute.
"What about you?"
"I am already gone, one with the planet and the life stream. You two are the only ones that can achieve this task. The planet has also seen through your hearts, you both possess great strength and hope worthy of the task."
"You want us to play heroes in another world?" at least the blond was able to finally get the idea" what about our friends?"
"Jaune stop" the silver eyed girl halted him" if we're dead, there's nothing we can do for them."
The Arc heard her hurting tone. This was killing her as much as him. Ruby stared at the female being.
"You want us to go to this world and help save it? You weren't kidding about being selfish we hardly know anything about you or this world. You can't expect us to go without giving us a choice."
"Yeah, this planet can't decide for us. We didn't asked to be brought here."
"We didn't asked to die either" muttered the RWBY leader.
"You are right which I will give you your choices. As you passed on you can either join us in the planet and be one with it, or you can take your second chance to live again."
"And do this mission?" the Arc gave a sigh feels like they were still not giving them a choice on their own.
"The planet has seen your courageous efforts in your world and sees you worthy, fitted to be one of the heroes of our world."
"Are they suppose to be more of us?" the blond turned to the silver eyed petite.
Ruby was silent, what to do. She was dead, she wasn't returning to Remnant, she won't see her sister, uncle, father and friends anymore. She failed as a Huntress and leader and yet someone wanted her to try and save another world. It all seem like she will fail. Jaune was in the same boat, what can they do after failing miserably to protect Atlas and Mantle. So what are the chances they're going to do a difference in this other world. Bot were staring at each other and they could read their minds just by looking into their eyes. They have failed but they refuse to give up and let it end. It was painful to admit it, that their lives in Remnant are over. It was so obvious what will be their choice. It was clear this is no dream and they will have to try and move on without their love ones. Probably the hardest test they have ever taken in their entire lives.
"Okay. But you have to be specific how do we save this world?" spoke Ruby.
"Have you chosen as well?" the woman in light asked the blond.
"Yeah there's no way I'm letting her go on her own" he smiled and she did the same.
"You can start by finding my daughter. Find her, protect her. You must protect the last Cetra."
"The last what?" blinked the Arc.
"Then please, take this with you."
The being made two small spheres appeared as they went to the two teens. Ruby and Jaune caught them, they had no idea what they were.
"Please, protect my daughter. For the sake of the planet Gaia, for the sake of everyone."
Their bodies were suddenly starting to vanished.
"Hey! You still haven't told us everything yet! How are we going to fit in this world when we don't know anything about it! No fair!"
"You will have to make time to learn and get adjusted. I pray you will find my daughter and the others."
"Others?" spoke Jaune.
Both were already gone as the female being vanished. The fate of the planet was now in their hands.
Jaune slowly opened his eyes realizing he was on something, grass. Getting up he was on a spot filled with yellow and white flowers. The blond saw Ruby next to him who was also waking up. The Arc gazed around, they were inside of a building not like the old ones they saw it was different from them too. Had a lot of space but with a broken floor where the spot of the flowers, to the roof. An altar on the front with an organ and chair on the left corner. The blond was surprised by the sight of the instrument it looked very old. Compare to the one her mother used to have. This place looks like a church he has read about them when his mother read him fairy tales. Churches were places where people will gather and worship the Gods, a place to remind them of their faith and dedication. But this ones looks abandon due to it's current condition. Turning to the silver eyed petite who wide awake she was looking around too.
"Where are we?"
"Not a clue."
There was a short silence between them before they looked at each other.
"Do you think it was just a dream?" they said in unison.
"Which part?" followed the Arc.
"About getting killed by Cinder and that glowing lady that tell us she will take us to her world to save it, find her daughter and other stuff."
"I wish both were all just a dream and we're still on Solitus, or Remnant."
"This place is big and run down" the red reaper noticed the holes and cracks.
The sound of thunder echoed through the skies as it shortly started raining. The two teens left the spot of flowers not wanting to get wet running off to get some cover. They stopped near one of the glass windows with a nice painting decoration. Didn't seemed like any designs neither of them has ever seen. The Huntsman and the Huntress stood silent as the thunder roared and the raining resumed. At least they still have their weapons. It wouldn't be fair to sent to another world without them. About that, they were having doubts if it was true. Both were still coming to terms that they were just dead and now they were back, alive and kicking. Jaune turned to where the rain was falling inside of the church it looked so beautiful. Is this really a new world, it sounded crazy but after what they've seen was there any place for doubt. He got interrupted by soft sobs coming from the girl next to him.
Ruby has put on her hood as her head was down gazing at the ground. Come to think of it the Arc has never seen her with her hood on, this was the first time. It was a sign that she wasn't feeling well and he understood why. She was taking this so hard, dying then being revived and sent to another world, sounding like a fairy tale no one would ever believe. But here they were, in a probably unknown world. Just what has they gotten themselves into. Jaune couldn't stand it seeing the silver eyed girl like this. She was always a happy person, cheery full of life. But now, it's like she was broken and he couldn't blame her. He was feeling the same way he'll be damn if he lets her go through this alone. She was still his friend and someone very important, he will always be there for his friends. His hand reached out to her as she didn't reacted by his touch.
"Ruby?"
She didn't answered as she stopped sobbing but he knew very well what she was doing. The petite has always put a strong front so no one will be able to tell how she was feeling. It may have work in the past but not anymore. Maybe Yang can see through it well, so does he.
"It's okay...You can cry if you want to. You don't have to pretend like everything's fine. I know you're hurt, I am too. If you're sad then let it out."
"I'm a horrible person" she whispered.
"What?"
"Me, I'm so terrible. I'm a bad Huntress, a bad leader everything. I chose not to tell Ironwood about Salem's immortality and keep it a secret. Yang was right, I'm no better than Ozpin. If I had only tell him instead of lying he would never gone against us, we wouldn't have to fight the Ace Ops, we wouldn't be wanted by the Military we wouldn't have been attacked by Salem...I wouldn't be dead and neither would you."
"Ruby-"
"Why couldn't have I been a better Huntress. I just wanted to be a hero and strong like my mom-"
"Ruby."
"I failed, Ozpin should have never made me skipped two years-"
"RUBY!"
The red cloak petite turned to him as the thunder and raining continues. Jaune took a better look at her. Her face filled with tears, a very rare sight to see. She was always a strong person to him and even seeing this side of her he hasn't change his opinion of her. He reached out to her hood pulling it down.
"It wasn't your fault. We all chose to follow your lead we thought we were doing the right thing at the time. We felt the same way Ironwood might change and try something crazy even if it had the same result in the end. So you're not to blame for a mistake you made even Yang and Blake made a mistake not telling him about telling Robin about the communications tower. Point is, we're not perfect we're bound to make mistakes. And even if you have done the right thing it wouldn't change anything, Watts and Tyrian would have made their move, Cinder and Salem too. We weren't just ready for it all. I was just like Beacon all lover again."
"But I and you…."
"Shhh…I told you I chose to protect you it was my choice. I put my life on the line for you as any friend would do the same. I needed to do something instead of watching a friend die, not another one. I know, we both died but I told you I don't regret it. We're both hurt that we won't see our friends and families again. It's not going to be easy, this might even be the biggest challenge of our lives. Living in a whole new world away from our loved ones. Don't even call yourself a horrible person again because you're the opposite of it."
"By now...Atlas and Mantle, and everyone they're…." Ruby released more tears.
"I know…." he couldn't take it anymore as he was in tears too.
Jaune pulled her softly into his arms, letting her cry her heart out. He sobbed too as their cries were disguised by the thunder and the rain. The emotional moment was cut short as suddenly many things appeared surrounding the two. The Arc broke the embrace as both were now staring at cloaked beings flying around. They looked like ghosts after everything they have seen during their stay in Remnant this, doesn't surprise them at all. There were so many of them, flying fast in all directions. Both got up taking their weapons didn't seem like they were going to leave them alone whatever they are. It was pretty clear that these things were after them for some reason. Ruby's scythe went right through one of the same with the Arc's sword. They were really ghosts even if they kept on attacking. They will vanish but reappear and more of them will show up.
"Get away!"
"I think we should leave. We're obviously not welcome here!"
They kept on attacking as Jaune changed his weapon to great sword mode slashing the hooded specters. Ruby used her semblance spinning her scythe while shooting. Then, they were all gone. Both didn't know what was going on. They just vanished without a warning. The seconds went by and so are the minutes and there were still no sign of them.
"What happened?"
"They left."
"That's it, I've seen enough for one day. I'm tire" said Ruby.
"Yeah we should get some rest" the Arc agreed deciding to leave the topic of those ghosts for later on.
The rain has stopped as the rays of the sun were hitting the hole in the church. It was also reflected in the windows as some hit the two teens. They were sleeping in the same place as Jaune didn't realized Ruby had her head leaned on his shoulder sleeping peacefully beside him. The Arc stirred in his sleep as he was hearing soft footsteps not that far. Maybe he was dreaming but they were getting louder. Then, they stopped he slowly opened his eyes. He was surprised that there was someone in front of him staring at him. The blond jumped from the startle waking the red cloak girl. He was breathing heavily as the silver eyed petite noticed the new person in the church. It was a young woman looking in her early twenties with long brown hair tied on a long braid with a pink ribbon and emerald eyes. Wearing a red silk jacket with a pink silk dress that reaches below her knees with brown boots and gold bracelets on both her hands. She was holding a brown basket with yellow and white flowers.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you!"
"You just stood there staring. Maybe I over reacted sorry."
"I'm just happy it's wasn't those creepy ghost thingies again" Ruby was relief.
"Ghost thingies?" the brunette stood in thought.
"We've been through a rough day" said the Arc and it was an understatement.
"It's okay I should have said something instead of staring. I was just surprised to see people here of all places. Nobody comes here except me."
"And where is this place?" asked the blond.
"This is an old church in the Sector 5 slums. It's been abandoned for a long time."
The Arc and the reaper looked at each other. Never heard of this Sector 5 were they really in another world.
"Sector 5?" followed the silver eyed girl.
"Yeah."
"And where is this Sector 5?" added the Arc.
"In Midgar" the brunette thought these two were clueless" I've never seen you two before, you must be new."
"Yeah, you can call it that" the blond gave a nervous.
"I'm Ruby, nice to meet you!"
"Jaune. Sorry for the startle."
"I'm the one who startled you don't apologize. And I'm Aerith I'm a florist I sell the flowers that grow here" the brunette smiled at the two.
"That's nice" the blond smiled it should be obvious with the basket full of flowers.
A huge roar was heard as Ruby blushed chuckling nervous. Jaune sweat dropped but he couldn't blame her after everything they've been through she will get hungry. He was also hungry.
"Someone's a little hungry."
"I need some grub, where's the near restaurant?"
"I do know a couple of places here. And they have a nice price too."
"How much lien will it cost?"
"What? Lien…?"
"I'm sure lien is worthless in this world" the Arc whispered to her.
"Oh right. I mean money I hope it's not that expensive."
"They won't charge you much gil if I go with you" Aerith smiled.
"You would do that? You don't have to" so they figured out the money is called gil.
"No problem. I just got back from the city not making any progress in my business. But I have enough gil to buy you something."
Both nodded so this lien is the name of the money from this world. It was confirmed by now that they weren't in Remnant anymore. Still, they were hungry so they will take the flower girl's kind offer.
So they left the church walking the streets of the Sector 5 slums. Jaune and Ruby were in awe not in a good way. The slum, that was exactly what they were looking. Old buildings, old houses, many places abandoned, dirty and worn out. The whole area could use a make over. First time they were seeing such a poor sight not even Mantle looked that bad. The people were wearing decent clothes at least, some of them kids in bicycles. At least they had power as they saw the electric poles so they must have communications television and radios even fuel as they spotted a couple of cars passing by.
This world wasn't that far behind in technology still, the tech from Remnant was superior specially the ones from Atlas. Most impressive thing so far has to be what was above them. It's like there was a giant plate over it, just what was it. They reached a small food place where Aerith led them inside. Very poor looking like what they have seen so far. Still they got seated without a word as their stomachs roared, real shame their lien wasn't going to cut it here.
The people at the place obviously knew the florist as they brought the menus. Both teens ordered the least expensive dish not wanting to feel rude towards the brunette. A couple of minutes they were brought a hot meal that made their mouth watered and ate it in one bite. Aerith smiled yep, they were pretty hungry. Deep down she knew the truth about them even when she just met them. Their clothes was little unique specially Ruby's, the same with their weapons. Jaune looked like a knight from those ancient legends her mother told her about but for the love of the planet that hair, it was bad. She did her best not to laugh, she will have to tell him later he needed to change it immediately. After eating they were full as the foot hit the spot and so happy their hunger was gone. Still they were feeling uncomfortable the brunette had to pay for their meal. It wasn't fair she spends what little lien she earns on complete strangers.
"Shinra Electric Power Company" the Arc saw the sing on a metal wall.
"Thanks Aerith I needed that, you're the best" smiled the red cloak petite.
"No problem. I will feel bad if I let you two starve to death."
"She's so kind, she's too good to be true" Jaune was mentally in tears.
"So you lived here?" the Arc decided to bring the topic.
"Yeah. My house is a little far from the slums. Do you two have a place to stay in mind?"
Both the Huntsman and Huntress looked at each other, they didn't. They just arrived to this world and were completely clueless about it. They needed knowledge before they can get adjusted. The glowing lady should have told them more before sending them here.
"Are there any hotels here?"
"Inns yeah. There are three and the price is good. But it won't work since you two don't have a single gil on."
"True" both sighed mentally.
"You guys should try getting some jobs. It's not that hard to find something to do here. Do you have any talents?"
"Of course we do" Ruby smiled" we can fight, we're very good at it."
Without a word she has taken her weapon from her back" this is my baby Crescent Rose a scythe that it's also a gun."
"Wow I've...Never seen anything like it" the florist was in awe staring at the red and black weapon.
"Yep, it's two weapons in one I built it myself."
"Mine isn't that special" Jaune unsheathed Crocea Mors" the only thing special is the sheath that turns into a shield."
"Don't forget big sword mode, show her!" yeah the silver eyed girl was excited talking about her favorite subject.
"Oh, right" he actually forget as he changed to great sword mode" there. My attacks are stronger when it's in this form but a little heavy. I got used to the weight."
"It still impressive" Aerith thought the blond was a SOLDIER but he didn't had the eyes infused with the mako.
"You already have the answer if you want to find jobs. If you have fighting experience I'm sure you can become mercenaries. You do certain jobs requested by the people and you get pay in return."
"That's not a bad idea" the red cloak girl like it using their abilities to ear lien it wasn't any different from being a Huntsman though.
"Guess it's worth a shot" the Arc smiled that was one problem solved.
"Now if we can find that lady's daughter" he remembers they're suppose to protect her and they didn't know who she is.
"Say, Ruby Jaune would you like to come to my house? I promise it won't take long" the brunette gave one of her sweet smiles.
"We don't see a problem" Ruby turned to the blond and he nodded not like they had any place to be or they were in a hurry.
True be told Aerith's house was far from the slums and the crowds. They walked a wooden bridge made from wooden tiles. A beautiful waterfall with some green life along with pieces of metal. But this area was the only place they have seen green grass and even flowers with different colors asides the ones from the church. Not much vegetation in the slums of Sector 5. The house was small but it was definitely the prettiest of them all with a triangular shape roof and windows. Really nice, it suited a young lady like the brunette. Just before they could get any closer to the house the florist stopped on her tracks facing them.
"I think we should talk before you meet my mother" still she kept her usual expression" you two aren't from here."
"We already told you" replied Jaune.
"No. You're not from Midgar or even Wutai. Just, where are you from?"
The two teens turned to the other, so much for keeping it a secret. Not like they were making the effort to begin with. They've only been in this world for like a few hours.
"I don't think you will believe us" said Ruby.
"Try me" she smiled.
The red cloak girl nodded as she decided to tell her everything, and she meant everything. Her life in Patch with her older sister, father and pet dog. About Remnant, Beacon, Huntsmen and Huntresses, the Grimm, Salem, the four maidens, the relics. The silver eyed reaper made sure not to miss any details. Jaune was surprised she was telling her everything up to the point when they arrived to Atlas. When she was done she needed to catch her breath waiting for her reaction. Aerith stood in deep thought before a smile her features.
"I believe you."
"Say what?" they said in unison.
"You have no reason to lie, you didn't knew where you were and you didn't even knew what gil is. I bet you don't know about mako, or the life stream either."
"The person that brought us here mentioned this mako but no, we pretty much don't have a clue" said the Arc.
"So how did you two got here? You said you both died during a tough battle."
"I was about to get to that part. We suddenly woke up in this pretty place filled with flowers and grass, trees similar to here and some old buildings like ruins" said the young reaper.
The brunette reacted but stood in thought having a feeling what could it be, or who.
"The only reason we were brought to this world is because this person or being told us to save the planet. That it was on the brink of extinction and we were the only ones that can do it."
Green eyes widened.
"No she said that there's suppose to be others. I know it's so confusing we're still trying to get used to the fact that we died and we're back living in another world."
"The will of the planet brought you to Midgar?"
"That's what she told us."
"Ruby, remember what she gave us?" said the blond Huntsman.
"Oh yeah."
Aerith stood in thought as the two teens have taken something from their pouches. Small spheres but it seems they weren't active yet.
"Materia."
Both blinked another thing they didn't know.
"This is summoning materia. It is very helpful during battle."
"Okay" Jaune sweat dropped things can't possibly get more confusing.
"Since you told me everything about you two and your world I will do the same. I will tell you everything you need to know. But first, can you tell me who was this person that showed up before you?"
"We don't know because she was covered in light" said Jaune.
"She was too bright no pun intended. She also told us something else asides saving the planet" followed the red cloak petite.
"To find her daughter that she's the last Ce...Cedan, is that it?"
"No, no silly you got it wrong. It's Cerad."
"I don't think that's it either" he sweat dropped.
"Cetra" corrected Aerith" that is the original name given to the Ancients. I will tell you all about it later."
And she smiled knowing who it was perfectly. Even in death, her mother was still watching over her and attempting to protect her. So she, the planet sent these two to help her. But this turn of events will surely complicate things as fate has been altered. With Jaune and Ruby's presence the future has been changed for sure. Whatever it is, she wanted to see it through.
"It was the will of the planet of our meeting, it was fate. I can help you find the Last Cetra or the Last Ancient."
"Really? That's great who is it?"
"That will be me" she smiled.
Both blinked realizing that they have already ran into her. That was quick and easy.
"Oh."
To be continued
-First of all I have never play the original FFVII I know it's a sin so please go easy on me. Second I will be focusing the story on the canon remake not the original.
-Okay I don't think rain hits the slums in the sectors pretty sure I made a mistake. Somebody please correct me.
-Cinder finally acting like the evil bitch that she is getting her revenge on Ruby killing her and Jaune as an addition. I will eventually show flashbacks of the Fall of Atlas and Mantle but be warn it will not be a pretty sight. At least it's a prediction of what I think will happen in v8.
-The story takes place a couple of months before the game events around 3 months just to let you know.
-I think I will remove the silver eyes they're just too OP and Ruby is strong enough as she is. Plus she will be getting some training and adding materia as part of her equipment there's no need to have her with that power up.
-I will change Jaune and Ruby's outfit before getting to the events of the game and I already have an idea what will they be.
-No I won't replace Jaune with Cloud. Cloud is Cloud and Jaune is Jaune. But I do have plans to how develop their friendship.
SPOILERS I do believe Sephiroth and Aerith knows the future of the original game but at the end they have changed the future and fate.
-I would like any suggestions for Ruby and Jaune's summon any summon from FF games will help. I will also check the full FFVII summon list so I don't get confuse. Also suggestions for their special skills and limit break are more than welcome.
-I'm a Cloud/Tifa fan sorry if anyone ships him with Aerith. I think I will go with Lancaster. I just don't see Jaune with Aerith maybe it can work or maybe not. A love triangle will be complicated.
Let's see how this story will go with Jaune and Ruby joining in without them being an add on or filler content. Of course they will play an important part on the story.
-Make no mistake Cloud is still important but I always wanted to see how will he get along with Jaune and Ruby. I don't see a problem with Ruby being who she is, Jaune is another story lol.
-You must be aware because the remake will be an episodic series this story might not get updated for a long time due that I will be following the plot or canon events from the game. It might take a year or more for the next game to be release. Similar to the Journey to Redemption.
-I haven't forgotten Jaune's shield has gravity dust in it since this takes place post v7 my question is, is it permanent or does it has an amount of them like dust rounds? I will be equipping it with materia so I don't see a reason to keep the gravity dust permanent.
-I will write the first 4 or 5 chapters since I'm half way done with the next chapter of RNJR I already know how v2 will go down.
-I will appreciate reviews, favs and follows if you're interested thank you.
