Hello there my dudes! I should technically do some homework BUT this is so much more fun! As you can tell I'm a very good and responsible student. :)
Here's just a cute lil fluff oneshot! I might do a second chapter of the next morning? Idk. Anyways, hope you enjoy and have a great day!
"Master, I'm fine." Ahsoka argued as the man gently wiped under her nose with a wet cloth. It was broken, and crooked to match her puffy black eyes, busted lip and bruises everywhere.
It was in the middle of a battle on the forested planet they were on. She had been fighting Grievous in a clearing in hand-to-hand combat, which was hard to really prepare for. She had tons of training, sure, but her master was always gentle whenever they sparred, and wasn't trying to smash her skull like Grievous. Though she was pretty beat up, she ended up winning and forcing him to retreat with the help of the 501st, Anakin rushing in only seconds after the General was gone.
"First of all, LIES." He reached into the small medkit Kix had given him. The medic had insisted on helping him with the Commander, but he knew how many troops needed his help, much more than her, so there they were. She was sitting on a munitions box near the center of the camp where the fire was slowly dying. The stars were coming out and most everyone was going to tents to sleep, so they talked in hushed voices, the only other sounds were clones whispering and the crackle of fire.
"Here it is…" He pulled out a nose splint, a temporary fix to her nose before they could get proper medical attention.
She groaned. "C'mon, is that really necessary?"
He raised a brow, seizing an opportunity to tease her. "Embarrassed, Snips?"
"No, just…"
"Just let me help you." He gave her a comforting smile. "Look up."
She did, and he taped the piece over the bridge of her nose. She involuntarily whimpered at the pain, and he quickly fit it to the rest of the injury and pulled away. "There. Does that feel better now?"
It was only a little sore from keeping the nose in place, other than that it didn't hurt much.
"No." Her voice was high pitched and nasally from the splint pinching her nose.
He chuckled a bit and she glared at him.
"Sorry, sorry." Anakin picked up the rag again, tending to her face. She had a lot of dried blood all over her skin and markings from her nose and lip. He wiped it away, holding the side of her face in his hand and kept turning her head slightly to see better. Her face was lit by the fire and moonlight, sparkling in her baby blue eyes. He stared at them for a moment, before focusing back to the problem at hand/
He got to her mouth, and ever so delicately rubbed her bottom lip.
She winced.
"Sorry." Trying to sooth her he started stroking his thumb along her cheek. "Almost done….there. Good as new. Well, not really. Just not as bloody."
"Oh joy."
He thought for a moment, what else he might need to check her on? "Look at me." He said, grabbing something else from the kit.
"Why?" She yelped as her vision was flooded with blinding light, with no warning.
"Master, what the hell?!" She covered her face with her hands.
One of the clones on watch duty about 20 feet away turned to them at the racket.
Anakin hastily switched the flashlight off, apologizing to the girl. "Guess I shoulda warned you, huh?" He turned to the trooper. "She's fine, I'm just checking for a concussion."
"And trying to blind me!" Ahsoka chimed in.
"Oh shut, get back here."
The soldier laughed fondly at the two bickering Jedi before returning to his job.
Ahsoka lifted her face to his again, letting him check her. Her pupils both shrank against the glare, and he turned it off again. "Your eyes look good...I'm going to ask you some questions."
"Gotcha."
"Your name?"
"Ahsoka Tano."
"Age?"
"Eighteen."
"Do you remember what happened?"
"I was fighting General Grievous in battle."
"Do you have a headache?"
"Only a little."
"When you were fighting him, did you black out?"
"Nope."
"Are you tired?"
She looked around. "It is, like 2200. So I guess?"
He thought for a second, trying to remember stuff from the first-aid class he had to take when he got her as a padawan. "I think I'm supposed to make you walk in a straight line, like to see if you're not dizzy."
She laughed. "I'm not drunk."
Anakin rolled his eyes. "Just try it."
"Okayyy." She stood up, walking away from him about six feet before turning back. "Tell me when."
"Go."
She put out her arms like she was walking on a tightrope, and slowly walked to him, one foot in front of the other. She was doing pretty good.
He stared intently at her, stroking an invisible beard and furrowing his brows.
She giggled. "You look like Obi-Wan."
He pursed his lips, continuing to stroke his chin. "Hello there." He said in a horrendous accent.
She laughed harder, glaring at him. "Stop! You're making me laugh and it's messing me up!" She took the last few steps, nearly standing on his toes and looked directly up at him. "How'd I do?"
"Great." He nodded at the box she was sitting on beforehand, and she took her seat back on it.
"You, Ahsoka Tano, do not have a concussion, "Anything else that hurts?" He asked.
Ahsoka shook her head, then thought.
She felt a robotic hand around her throat, choking her. She gasped for air, trying to pry the cyborg's fingers away, but before she could do anything he slammed her to the ground, taking punches at the young girl's face.
Oh….Anakin would not be happy.
She pulled down her tunic just enough to see a nasty-looking hand shaped bruise, with cuts down the side where hid metal fingers went into her skin as she hit the ground.
Her master's eyes went wide, and he moved his hand to the back of her neck, carefully pulling her closer. He moved one of her lekku out of the way to look at it.
"It's really not that bad, just some bandaids maybe for the bad cuts."
He shook his head. "God I hate that guy. Does it hurt now?" He felt one of the bad bruises, and she flinched.
"Only a little."
Anakin sighed heavily, at the sight of it, before grabbing a roll of bacta tape from the medkit and wrapping it around her neck, lifting each of her lekku as he went around. Then he closed it off, lifting the fabric of her shirt back over it so it was a little less noticeable.
"That's all?"
"That's all."
She smiled at him. "Thanks for helping, Master."
"Of course, Ahsoka." He looked at her for a moment before leaning forward and kissing her splint-covered nose. "To make it better." He explained after he'd pulled away.
She leaned forward herself, planting a kiss on his cheek. "Just cause."
He laughed at that, then his face went serious. "Listen, Snips. Tomorrow when me and the guys go out there, I want you to sit it out."
Her face fell. "Master, I'm fine! It's just my face, I can still fight!"
"It's my decision, Ahsoka, andI don't want you to go."
"But who will have your back?"
"You're not going to be able to help me if you get hurt again, Ahsoka." He grinned at her so she knew he meant well. "If you don't remember, it was me who had to get you back here?"
That was true.
"Ahsoka!" Anakin yelled, crouching at her side. Her eyes were swelling up fast, and it was hard to make him out. With all the blood on her face she looked almost dead.
She tried to say something, but he hushed her. "Don't talk, don't talk."
Suddenly she could feel arms under her knees and back, and her being lifted off the ground.
"Let's get her back to base, Rex." He said. She could hear his heartbeat pounding mercilessly in his chest, panicking at the state of his apprentice.
"I-I-ca...walk." She got out.
"No you can't." He argued, starting to jog back to the camp.
She frowned. "How bout we see how I am in the morning?"
Her eyelids were getting droopy and he could tell she was getting tired. He needed rest himself, and maybe if he agreed she'd drop it. Of course, once they were up he'd still say no, but she didn't have to know that.
"Okay. Fine."
She smiled, grabbing his hand and shaking it. "Pleasure doing business with you, Skyguy."
The two of them put out the fire, and ducked into the larger tent for the commanding officers. Obi-Wan, who usually accompanied them on missions, (mostly to make sure they'd stay out of trouble), was gone, busy back on Coruscant, so Anakin and his padawan were alone.
She laid down on the floor of the tent, curling up underneath a thin government-issued blanket. He sat crossed legged next to her.
"You're not gonna lay down?" She asked in a whisper.
He shook his head. "Droids are unpredictable. They don't need sleep."
"You're keeping watch?"
"Mmhm." When she didn't respond he reassured her. "I'll go to sleep soon. Get some rest."
His eyes were darting around at every noise. "Master." She sighed.
"What?"
"I know you and you won't'. I'm not going to sleep until you do." She gestured at the blanket next to her. "Please."
Once again he knew he couldn't win with her. He told himself that the clones would alert them if anything went wrong as he lowered the rest of his body to the ground, pulling the blanket over his torso. He shivered. The ground was cold.
Ahsoka smiled in satisfaction.
"Goodnight, Master."
Anakin rolled over to face her, but she was already closing her eyes and drifting off into sleep.
He reached out and held her bruised jaw, yawning as he was hit with a sudden wave of tiredness.
"Goodnight, Snips."
