Padme stood up in her seat as it hovered towards chancellor palpatine. A look of anger and dismay was on her face.
"Chancellor, i have grave news. The gungans have overrun naboo, created an empire and are gunning for us." Amidala said.
Palpatine burst out laughing, his stoic facade gone.
"Holy shit! I was expecting something like a new sith empire had risen. Or the CIS has a fleet of battleships hanging over our head. Seriously, what's the problem senator?" Palps asked.
Padme was not amused.
"It's true! I have footage of the bastards rising up!" she exclaimed. Putting a flash drive in the computer of the seat, a holographic film was broadcasted for everyone else to see. Everyone watched as the gungans slaughtered the native naboo people, cheering as they fled their home planet.
"My people have become refugees, starving and dying! I will not stand for this. I call upon the republic to send aid to fight the gungans and take back naboo once and for all!" she shouted.
Everyone stood up and vouched their support. Palpatine sat down, a sly look on his face. Reaching out through the force, he could feel the immense hatred that was felt towards the gungans. It had something to do with jar jar binks.
"Yes. This will solidify the galaxy once and for all." he muttered.
…
Rex walked down the hallway of the republic cruiser he was on, seeing not only his clone brothers, but also many different aliens and other humans he never knew existed.
"UNSC, Covenant. People who can bend the four elements. This is something for the ages." Rex said.
Rex entered a room, seeing one of the Spartan super soldiers he only heard of. On this hulking green armor in front of him, was the letters 117. The giant stood at attention and saluted him.
"At ease, Chief. I'll be in command of all the ground forces. You'll be my second in command." Rex said.
"Yes, sir. I'm looking forward to seeing you and your soldiers in action." John said.
"We'll make it count. I can't believe this many people hate the gungans." Rex said. He looked out the window and saw the fleet still being formed. He saw an unlimited wave of Republic ships, CIS ships, and now UNSC and Covenant ships. He even saw a few of the alien species on board.
…
Adama was sitting across from a pair of cylons, Cavil and number 6. They finished discussing ways of continuing the relations between man and the cylons when the phone rang.
"Adama." he said.
"Adama, we just got a message from fleet HQ. It was in the clear." Lt Geata said.
"In the clear? What does it mean?" he asked.
"To all colonial units and cylon allies. Gungan rising has occurred. This is not a drill." Gaeta read.
"I'll be right there." Adama said. He left the room and headed to the CIC as Cavil followed him.
"What's going on?" the cylon asked.
"I'm thinking we'll find out." number 6 said.
Entering the CIC, Adama heard the alert klaxons wailing, as crews were getting ready for combat.
"What do we got? Shipping accident?" Tigh asked, walking into the CIC with a cup of coffee. Adama handed him the note Gaeta read to him.
"This is a joke. The fleet's playing a retirement prank." Tigh said.
"I don't think so." Adama grimly replied, picking up the phone.
"This is the Admiral. Moments ago, this ship has received word of a gungan uprising that is underway. We do not know the size, strength, or disposition of the enemy forces. But they've already taken over a planet and are in the process expanding. How, why, doesn't matter now. What does matter as of this instance, is that we are at war. Stand to your duties. Trust your shipmates. And we'll all get through this. Further updates as we get them. Thank you."
Putting up the phone, Adama barked out orders to his crew. The first order of business was getting bullets and shells to fight with.
"Cavil, is there a problem?" Adama asked, seeing the Cylon lost in thought.
"I have a question. What the frak's a gungan?" he asked.
…
Su Beifong walked to the courtyard, seeing Kuvira packing away plasma rifles.
"What are you doing?" she asked.
"We're going to do what you don't have the guts to do. We're answering the call." Kuvira said.
"No! I forbid you to leave!" Su angrily said.
"How are you going to stop me? Zaofu's guards are some of the best fighters in the world. And they want to actually do some good in this universe. Not be under the thumb of a woman who only plays at being a leader." Kuvira said.
"If you leave, you won't be allowed to return." Su said.
"I think she has the right idea." Lin said, walking past Su, holding a needle rifle in her hands.
"Lin?! What's going on?!" Su exclaimed.
"Simple. We hate the gungans." Lin said, joining Kuvira on the LAAT transport. Su watched as her army, son, sister, and others from Zaofu joined the fleet hovering above the city and left the planet below them.
Lin walked down the halls of the Covenant assault carrier, seeing aliens for the first time. She was thankful she wasn't fighting them, only gungans.
"Afternoon, chief. You lost?" Arbiter asked.
"I'm trying to navigate my way to Aang's room, but i can't make heads or tails of your ship." she said.
The arbiter pulled out a small map and handed it to Lin.
"This will tell you were to go. Get some rest and hot chow. You'll need it for the days ahead." the alien said.
Lin followed the directions towards the avatar's room, seeing the young avatar looking in awe at space and the fleet next to them.
"Amazing sight, isn't it?" Lin asked.
"It is. Nice to meet you." Aang said, approaching Lin. Lin shut the door and pulled Aang into a bear hug.
"It's good to see you again." Lin replied, not letting go of her old friend.
…
What i remember about the gungan extinction was how quiet it was. Did any of us worry about committing genocide, of course we did. But no-one said a word. Not when order 96 came down the line.
Rex, Master Chief, Adama, and other high ranking officers in the fleet met inside the Galactica ready room, planning the offensive.
"How much longer are we going to wait?" Admiral Yularen asked.
"Thousands of ships and troops answered the call. Far more than we anticipated. It's been four months, and we're just now finishing with the logistics problems. But we have bigger issues. The gungans have fortified Naboo and placed a fleet in orbit. They have control of the system and are looking to expand. We need to strike fast and hard." Adama said.
"We have over 3,000 ships. The gungans only have 400. We can easily nuke the gungans from orbit. A few minutes of orbital bombing from the fleet will leave no survivors." Tarkin said.
"And destroy Naboo as well. Besides, i think the troops are itching to kill gungans face to face. We can easily secure air and space superiority and let the troops take care of the gungans on the ground." Admiral Hood answered.
"I agree with Hood. Besides, we spent all this time and effort into getting all these troops here. Might as well use them." Rex said.
"We'll jump into orbit at 0700 hours and take out the gungan fleet. With luck, they'll be bottled up on Naboo. We'll send in the ground troops and pass the popcorn." Rtas vadum finished.
Upon entering the system, Hood opened comms to the entire fleet.
"You wanted to make a speech, Sgt. Now's your chance." Hood said.
"Thank you, sir." Johnson said.
"Attention everyone. Forget about the horseshit you heard about the gungans! The bastards may have started this war, but i promise you. We will finish it! Floppy-eared monkeys want to use this system as a base to kill us. They'll go straight-eared when we blow apart their raggedy ass fleet and land troops on their soil and yank the survivors from their shit filled foxholes by their balls! Do not count days, do not count miles. Only count the amount of gungans you have killed. Kill the gungan! That is the call of every sane individual in the galaxy."
The massive fleet entered orbit, now facing the smaller gungan fleet.
"Launch vipers. Have them coordinate with the republic and CIS fighters. Target the nearest enemy ship and fire." Adama ordered.
The gungan fleets soon found themselves under an intense barrage of weapons fire, from MAC rounds and nuclear missiles, to deadly plasma torpedoes. The entire fleet moved forward as one body, the captains eager to claim a kill in the fighting.
At the city of Theed, a pair of gungans were on patrol, bored out of their mind.
"Hey. You ever wonder why we're here?" one asked.
"No. I never wondered why we're here." the second replied.
"But you have to think. Maybe it's because of some cosmic plan. Like god, or the force has something in mind." the first continued.
"Hold that thought. You hear that music?" the second asked, turning away from the city.
Spanish polka music was heard, getting closer and closer. A jeep came forward at top speed, running the gungans over.
"That's one for red team! Captain Rex, this is Colonel Sarge. We've encountered the enemy." Sarge said.
"Copy that. All units, advance forward. Tanks provide fire support. Turn that city into rubble." Rex ordered.
Troops along with mechanized armor descended to the city of Theed, guns blazing. Plasma shells flew in harmony with depleted uranium slugs, tearing down ancient and historical buildings to the ground. Senator Amidala looked from the bridge of a republic cruiser, completely in shock.
"I can't believe it. They're destroying everything in sight." she muttered.
"These men have been through years of hard war. They're not taking any chances." Admiral Yularen said.
Elites and clones moved down a street, rifles raised. Rex turned around a corner and saw a gungan tank hiding behind a building across the street from him. Looking behind him, he quickly realized that any friendly armor coming down the road was in for a rude awakening. He ran back towards a Covenant Wraith and shouted for the driver to stop. An elite opened the hatch and raised an eyebrow.
"That building across the street is hiding a gungan tank. He'll nail you before you can get a shot off." Rex said. The alien nodded and gave orders to his gunner. A ball of hot blue plasma was fired from the tank and fell on top of the building, burning it to the ground. The gungan tank returned fire, missing the wraith.
"Fire! Before he kills us!" Rex shouted. The gungan tank fires an energy bolt, only to hit into a wall of earth that suddenly rose from the ground.
"What was that?" Rex asked.
"On your left." Lin said, as she and Aang walked from behind the tank.
"Thanks for the save." Rex said, as the sounds of the gungan tank blowing up was heard.
"Still. It's a pity we have to bomb this city to rubble." Aang said.
"The city can be rebuilt. Lives can't." Rex coldly replied.
The house to house fighting was fierce and bloody. Alliance soldiers were zealous, dragging surrendering gungans out and killed them in cold blood. Brutes and Jackals even ate some gungans that were captured.
"Sir, we've cleared the city of gungans. They're retreating to the plains for a final stand." One of the cylon models said.
"Cleared the city? You outright destroyed the city. It looks like a nuke was dropped from orbit." Ahsoka said.
Soldiers left the city and headed outside, communicating with the fleet in orbit.
"Captain Cutter, take out the gungan destroyer on the left flank! Starbuck, take out the fighters approaching the UNSC flank." Adama ordered, as the fighting continued. The gungan reinforcements had arrived, pouring fire into the beleaguered alliance fleet. Ships that had already seen combat were rotated out, and ships that hadn't seen fighting were more than happy to pick up the slack.
"Shipmaster, gungan battleships approaching. Looks like they want to make one final show of force." an elite said.
"Lets give one final display of courage. All vessels, target the enemy fleet. Leave no survivors." the shipmaster ordered.
Scattered units came together in cobbled formations, firing the last of their munitions at the gungans. The last of the gungan fleet began to fall to the overwhelming might of the alliance. It was only a matter of time until victory was assured.
"Admiral Hood, we're being hailed from the surface." an officer said.
"Put it through." he said.
"Admiral Hood, this is Qui-gon Jinn. We have the gungans pinned down in an open field, but they're hiding behind powerful energy barriers. We need orbital support." The Jedi said.
"Copy that. Archer missiles. Danger close." Hood said.
"If archer missiles don't work, bring in a covenant ship." Rex added over the comms.
The archer missiles slammed against the shields, but they still held.
"Damn it. Bring in a covenant ship." Rex said.
A covenant assault carrier came into the atmosphere, catching the eye of everyone on the ground.
"Oh fuck." Ahsoka said.
"Watch and learn." Chief said.
The ship positioned itself directly above the gungan forces, and began to fire plasma torpedoes onto the enemy shields. A bright light was seen as the shields were destroyed, and the gungan army was caught with its pants down.
"Fire!" Rex shouted, and a deafening symphony of weapons fire, from rifles to tanks and heavy artillery guns tore into the hapless foe. The gungan army was all but destroyed in half an hour.
"It's over. War's over." Rex said, holstering his pistols.
"It's not over. I just got word from the fleet. The gungans have a city underneath the water. Our orders are to destroy it." Chief said.
"How? It'll take time to get troops and explosives to do it." Lin said.
"There's another way. The Naboo starfighters can work underwater, only for a limited time. We can fly in, fire a couple of nukes, by-by city." Rex said.
"The fighters can work underwater?" Cortana asked.
"The Naboo were paranoid about another war with the gungans. Who's flying?" Rex asked.
"Whoever's flying needs to know this could be a one-way trip. You may not have enough time to escape the blast." Qui-gon said.
"Not enough time to escape a nuclear explosion? Griff, you're up!" Sarge said.
"Fuck that, old man." Griff replied.
"I'll do it." Rex said, not wanting to put his men in harms way.
The Naboo starfighter dove into the water, as Rex kept his eye on the altimeter. Any deeper and he'd be crushed like a tin can.
"There you are." Rex said, aiming the nose at the gungan city. With a hand on the ejection handle, he pulled the trigger and ejected right after the missile was launched. Rex broke through the water, gasping for air.
"Rex!" Ahsoka shouted, running to her lover.
"I'm fine." he weakly said, coughing out water.
"Contact!" John shouted, pivoting his rifle south. Everyone looked in his direction, seeing a lone gungan flopping onto the land.
"Mesa surrender!" Jar Jar shouted, raising his arms up. The troops beckoned him forward, their weapons raised.
"Head in that direction until you find the nearest alliance soldier." Lin said, wrapping a piece of cloth around his eyes.
Jar Jar slowly began to walk, when John quickly grabbed a rifle.
"I need a smoke grenade. Now." John urgently said. Upon being handed a grenade, John took aim and fired.
The grenade bounced off the ground and nailed Jar Jar right in the back of his head. He dropped dead, while John celebrated his kill.
"Holy shit. His fucking head exploded!" a marine exclaimed.
"That's what i call a headshot." John said.
"Chief, what the fuck did you do?!" Cortana shouted.
"Let it go, Cortana. No-one minds." Qui-Gon said, observing the ruined head.
