The New Team

Washington, D.C

Aaliyah stood on the private runway, staring at the jet before her. She handed off her two suitcases to the workmen who placed them in the cargo hold, then turned to face the team she'd come to see as family. Abby ran forward and wrapped her arms around the younger brunette.

"Oh Abbs." Leah sighed, blinking back the tears, rubbing her friend's back. "I'm gonna miss you too."

"You promise to call everyday?" Abby asked as she pulled away, keeping her hands on Aaliyah's shoulders.

"I can promise to try." Aaliyah replied with a smile. "My aunt told me that the work at the Phoenix Foundation is tougher than it sounds."

The black haired female pulled out a lion stuffed animal with dark brown fur and a black mane, and had a pink and black skull printed bandanna around it's neck, "Just a little something to remember me by." Abby sniffled, handing the animal to her friend.

"Oh Abby." Aaliyah sniffled as she took the plush toy. "Thank you. I'll treasure it always." She held it close to her chest, which only made Abby grin wider. Leah turned her eyes to Nick and Alex, and wrapped her arms around their shoulders in a quick hug. As she pulled back, Alex tucked some of her light brown locks behind her ear while Nick just patted her back.

"Team's not gonna be the same without you." Ellie told her as they embraced, both girls sharing a small laugh.

"You guys will be just fine without me." Leah replied. The two pulled back and shared a smile.

Tim was the next one to hug Aaliyah goodbye. "I'm sure gonna miss ya, Leah." he whispered, keeping one hand on the back of her head while his other arm was around her back. "Don't be a stranger."

"Never." Leah chuckled, pulling back as Tim kissed the top of her head. "You guys will always be family."

"Damn straight." Chloe agreed, pulling Aaliyah towards her.

The young brunette wrapped her arms around the older agent she came to love as a big sister, "Thanks for looking out for me, Cloe." Leah took a shuddering breath as a tear fell down her cheek. "And hey..." she pulled back and looked her in the eye, "...I'll be back for the wedding." The older brunette nodded and pulled her in for another hug, running her hand over the younger girl's light brown hair. "Love you, Chloe."

"Love you too, Aaliyah." Chloe repeated, pulling back. She wiped the moisture from the younger girl's eyes and took a step back.

Aaliyah sighed and looked to the last member of her team, the man who helped her those years ago when she felt like her life was over. "Boss." she said, standing before the team leader.

The corner of Gibbs' lips curled upward and he placed his hand on Leah's shoulder before embracing her. "Take care of yourself, kiddo." he told her, patting her back.

"Yes sir." Leah replied. She closed her eyes and laid her head against Gibbs' shoulder, "I'll remember everything you taught me." She pulled back, meeting her lead agent's eyes, "Thank you. For everything."

A light chuckle escaped the older male. He leaned down and planted a kiss on the younger girl's forehead, "Semper Fi."

"Semper Fi." Aaliyah repeated, taking a step back. She took one last glance at each member of her team, the team she came to love as family, before turning on her heels and walking up the steps leading into the private jet.

Aaliyah set her carry-on by her feet and sat down opposite the only other passenger on the jet; a woman of short stature with long, dark hair and dark brown eyes. "You gonna be okay, sweetie?" she asked, noting the moisture in the young woman's eyes.

"Yeah, Aunt Matty." Leah answered, wiping her eyes. "I'll be fine. After all, I did go through the entire Phoenix training school back when it was known as DXS."

Matty nodded her head, "That's why I asked you to join me at the Phoenix Foundation." she informed. She pulled out a small stack of files and placed them on the table between them. "These are the dossiers of the agents you'll be working with."

Aaliyah took the top file and flipped it open. The agent's photo was an older male who could be described as 'ruggedly handsome' with dark hair with some splashes of grey, minor facial hair, and brown eyes. "Jack Dalton." she muttered as she read the file, "Former CIA and Delta Force." she closed the file and set it aside, taking the next in the stack. "Riley Davis..." as Leah scanned the file, her eyes went wide, "She hacked the NSA? Twice? Damn."

Leah took the third file and her eyes widened for a second time, because she instantly recognized the photo of the Africa-American male. "Bozer?" she mumbled, reading through the file. She sighed heavily and set his file with the other two.

Matty slid the final file to her niece, "Here's the file on the final agent of your new team." she informed.

As soon as Aaliyah opened the file, her jaw fell slack. "Oh my God." she breathed as she stared at the photo of the blonde haired, blue eyed male she knew all too well.

{Flashback: Mission City, California. Years ago.}

A sixteen-year-old Aaliyah stood on the curb of her Mission City home, wrapped in the arms of her two best friends. This was the day she had to leave and move across the country after the death of her mother.

Bozer squeezed as tight as he could as he hugged his friend goodbye. "I'm gonna miss that million dollar smile of yours." he sighed, cupping the blonde's face. "Seriously. I could've made a star outta you."

"Thanks Boze." Leah chuckled, wiping the tears from her eyes. "But I don't think the spotlight is for me."

"Can't blame me for tryin'." the dark-skinned male laughed. He pulled out a photograph of himself and Leah, with him in the badger mascot suit and her in a cheerleading uniform. Written across the lower corner was Bozer's autograph. "Keep this. When I make it big, show up to my premier with this, and I'll guarantee you a VIP pass."

"Oh Boze." Leah wrapped her arms around his neck. "Thank you."

"Love you girl." Bozer rubbed the blonde's back, a few tears falling from his eyes.

"Love you too, bro." Aaliyah replied, pulling back. She wiped her eyes and took a deep breath, looking from her best friend to her boyfriend, who was tall with blonde hair and bright, blue eyes. Her eyes welled with moisture once more as she threw her arms around his neck and buried her face in his shoulder, as her own started to shake.

Mac wrapped his arms around his girlfriend, keeping one arm around her waist while his other hand cradled the back of her head, his cheek resting against the side of her head. They stood like that for a few minutes, just holding eachother. "I'm really gonna miss you, Leah." Mac whispered, running his finger's through Aaliyah's hair.

The blonde female shuddered, "I'm gonna miss you too, Gus." she echoed, gripping the fabric of his shirt. "So much."

The couple pulled away and met eachother's eyes. Mac cupped her face and leaned down, brushing his nose against Leah's as their lips met in a deep kiss. She kept her hands on either side of his neck as she stood on her tiptoes to match his height. The driver of the towncar honked the horn, which broke the two teens from their kiss.

Aaliyah sighed shakily, moving her hands down to interlock them with Mac's. "I have to go. My flight leaves in a few hours." she said, biting her lip. Deep down she knew she had to leave, but she couldn't make her feet take even a half-step back.

Mac pulled a chain from his back pocket. The chain was a long necklace with a heart-shaped charm made from a paper clip dangling from the center. "I made this for you. Just a little something to remember me by." He told her as he slipped it over her head. "No matter what happens..." he cupped the side of her face once more, and she reached up to grasp his forearm, "...I'll always love you, Aaliyah Reynolds."

Aaliyah's lips curled into a grin as a few tears fell from her brown eyes as she turned her face into his palm, his thumb caressing her cheekbone. She leaned upwards, brushing her nose against his, their eyes locking. "I'll always love you, Angus MacGyver." she echoed, before capturing his lips in another kiss. Their last kiss.

Against the wishes of her heart, Aaliyah pulled back, trying to keep her tears at bay. She picked up her backpack that would also serve as her carry-on for her flight. She looked to the two males who were her best friends and forced her lips to form a smile. "Bye Boze." she gave a nod. Her eyes then went to Mac, and she could feel her heart breaking in her chest. "Goodbye Angus."

And with that, she turned around and walked to the towncar parked in her driveway. As soon as she closed the front, passenger side door, she closed her eyes and let all the tears fall.

Mac and Bozer stood on the curb and watched the car drive away. "Goodbye Aaliyah." Mac muttered under his breath as he felt his own heart break, watching his first love disappear from the block.

{End Flashback}

"Angus." Aaliyah muttered as she traced the photograph clipped onto the dossier. She reached up and touched the paper clip heart attached to the chain around her neck.

"That's not going to be a problem is it?" Matty asked.

Aaliyah looked across the table, meeting her aunt's eyes. "Not at all Aunt Matty." she answered.

Phoenix Foundation. Somewhere in Los Angeles.

Riley, Bozer, Jack, and Mac sat in the War Room awaiting the arrival of their new boss and new agent. Mac sat in one of the lounge chairs with his feet propped up on the round table, bending a paper clip, while Jack paced back and forth in front of the large monitor screen, and Bozer and Riley leaned against two other loungers.

"Come on, she can't be that bad." Riley spoke up.

Seeing the look of what could only be described as dread reflected in Jack's eyes, Bozer quirked his brow, "Can she?" he questioned.

All Jack did was shudder, which Mac laughed at. "Yeah, yeah, you keep laughing." Jack said, lightly slapping his friend's knee. "Trust me, you're gonna be changing your tune in a minute."

"Maybe I should have worn a tie." Bozer gulped, suddenly feeling nervous himself.

"Nah, it wouldn't have helped." Jack shot down, checking his watch as he continued his pacing.

"Relax, Bozer. You're fine." Mac assured, trying to ease the tension. "Besides, everyone except for Jack says Webber's amazing, so..."

"Are you really not gonna tell us what happened between you two?" Riley asked, taking a seat in the lounger next to Bozer.

Jack met the eyes of the hacker, "All you need to know is Matty Webber's the reason I left the CIA." he answered.

Mac raised his eyebrow, "Really?" he cracked a small smile.

"So...she fired you." Riley deduced.

"Let's just say it was a mutual parting of ways." Jack clarified.

"Oh, she fired his ass." Bozer stated, sharing a small laugh with Mac and Riley.

Jack held up in his finger, "She didn't fire me, dude, all right? No firing."

"Come on, you can tell me." Mac suggested, not hiding his smile.

"It's the truth." Jack defended. "I didn't get fired."

"Bro, I need details." Bozer begged. "I'm verklempt over here!"

"Well, yeah, you have good reason to be." Jack informed, pacing again. "Keeping your mouth shut's probably the best route to go on this one." he halted his pacing and turned to the other three, "You know that movie where that robot says...uh..." he snapped his fingers trying to pull the line from his memory, "I'll be back?"

"Terminator." Bozer answered.

Jack shook his head, "That wasn't the one, but that's the anxiety level that I'm feeling right now."

The War Room door opened and in walked the woman their new boss and new teammate. "Hey!" Jack chuckled nervously. "She's back."

"Hell yeah, I'm back." Matty stated as she walked into the room with Aaliyah a pace behind. "Feet on the floor, blondie." she ordered, to which Mac jumped to his feet. "Looking a little gray around the temples there, Jack." she noted, "Figured you'd be retired by now or dead."

"Heh, no, no, ma'am." Jack moved to stand beside Mac. "I'm still serving my country until they tell me to stop."

"Stop." Matty said, and Jack instantly shut up. "JK." The new director cracked a smile. "Just kidding.

Aaliyah stood beside her and giggled to herself. Hearing that giggle, both Mac's and Bozer's jaws fell slack. Their eyes widened slightly and Mac dropped the paper clip he was bending around. Seeing the deer-in-the-headlights look they both had, Aaliyah just grinned, "Wilt. Angus." she greeted, "It's been a while, hasn't it?"

"Leah?" both men questioned.

"Guys, meet former NCIS Special Agent Aaliyah Reynolds." Matty introduced, glancing up at her niece.

Aaliyah waved and smiled at the four Phoenix agents. "Nice to meet you, Jack. Riley." she looked to the two named agents. "I read all your dossiers on the flight from D.C. I think we'll all get along fine."

"Now, whatever Jack told you about me... it's all true." Matty informed, getting everyone's attention. "So suck it up, because I'm here, and this is happening." she looked up to the newest team member, "Aaliyah."

"Yes, Aunt Matty." Leah nodded, grabbing the monitor remote from the round table. She clicked a few buttons and pulled up a few images that pertained to their next mission. "Now, we have a situation that just flared up in Kuwait that needs our immediate attention." She glanced back at her four new teammates, "Are you guys ready to have some fun?" She arched her eyebrow and cracked a smile.

A/N: Hey ya'll. So this is a story idea I've been sitting on since I first watched the 2016 reboot of MacGyver. I've revised this idea alot since the pilot, writing down different ideas for my character and her backstory, as well as how she fits in to the cannon storyline. I finally ironed out everything and hope you guys enjoy it.

This story takes place within the MacGyver (2016) universe, but I'm adding in my own original spin by including mentions of events that happened in NCIS from seasons 10-14. Hope ya'll enjoy!

OC cast:

Sophia Bush as Chloe Sanders

Shelley Hennig as Aaliyah Reynolds
