"Why couldn't they listen?! I was so close to saving everyone! It's the only way to stop what's coming to Elmore..." Rob lamented as he gazed at the TV static and floating objects scattered around his "home". The sound and sight of the endless Void was all he saw. Getting up from his perch on the edge of a small rock "island" of sorts, floating endlessly in the Void, he looked around for a way to escape.
Seeing nothing, Rob let out a frustrated shout that echoed around the barren land of the Void and kicked a nearby scrap of metal before doubling over in pain.
Looking up through his slight tears, Rob spotted a crack in the sky, not unlike a crack in a wall, with white light glowing softly and passing through its shafts. "Might be my ticket outta here..." Rob thought to himself and jumped up, propelling himself at speeds only possible due to the Void's low gravity.
Sunlight drafted gently through the window, illuminating tiny pieces of dust drifting lazily through the air in the bedroom. The sun's rays shone against a fishbowl, waking its resident up. Darwin, the evolutionary anomaly, stretched his long legs and blinked the sleep out of his eyes before turning to his brother and best friend, Gumball, the trouble making blue cat.
"Dude, is it just me or do you hear something?" Darwin's high pitched voice rang out in the quiet of the morning, awaking Gumball from his peaceful slumber. Stirring in bed, Gumball grumbled, "We can deal with it later, I need to sleep! And it is probably just you..." and turned away from the sunlight to resume sleeping.
What Darwin heard was a force of nature, the power of another dimension. Soon, the sound reached Gumball's ears as well, and he sat up in bed and looked worriedly at Darwin. "Uhh, dude? I think I can hear it too..." The pair listened and heard the likes of which they had never heard.
A deep rumbling sound emanated from all around them, starting so soft they thought it was just normal noises in their strange town, but the volume increased, gradually reaching levels clear to burst their eardrums. The entire house was ripped out of its foundations and started to rise, tilt and swirl through the cold wind as the walls of the house blew apart, revealing nothing but TV static.
"WHAT THE WHAT IS THAT?!" They shouted as the Void whirled around them like a storm, increasing in strength as it expanded from its core and roared like an ancient dragon facing the knight.
"I don't know what's happening, dude, but this is looking really ba- AAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Gumball's words morphed into a scream and were cut off as what seemed like an invisible hand dragged and pulled him down, down, down into the depths of the Void below.
"I'm starting to think maybe we should have listened to Rob!" Darwin cried out in fear as he watched Gumball start speeding away. Gumball hung on desperately to the edge of the crumbling house and shouted at the top of his lungs, "YA THINK?! Now help me!" before slipping away, and Darwin could only watch him turn into a dot and eventually disappear. "NO! GUMBALL!" Darwin yelled as he dove into the Void after his brother.
Rob was flying up towards the crack when he saw a familiar blue cat soaring towards him. Quickly diving out of the way, Rob watched Gumball disappear into the depths of the Void. A few moments later. Darwin appeared, flying in the same direction, seeming to be pursuing Gumball. Rob watched as both of them faded into the static and without a word, turned away and continued floating toward the crack. He inched closer and closer before an unseen force shoved him back down onto a passing body of asphalt.
Rob seethed in anger at his door of opportunity for escaping the hellish realm cruelly shut in his face. Instead of dwelling on it, though, Rob decided to investigate the strange scene he had witnessed earlier and dove after the familiar pair of the blue cat and orange fish.
Rob eventually found them within his vision again, spotting Gumball just a few hundred meters below, along with Darwin, following after. Rob continued to fall faster, getting closer and closer.
He slammed into Darwin and the fish boy let out an oomph as he was propelled toward Gumball like a rocket, helpless to shift his course. Rob's impact killed his momentum and he began to float again like nothing had happened, albeit with a slight ache in his shoulder.
"Gumball, I got you! Just grab my hand! ...Or fin... or... something..." Darwin called as soon as he was within range. Gumball grabbed the fin help out to him and they descended together, with Rob watching helplessly as the two descended into the pure white Rob never dared explore while he was a resident of the Void.
This was bad...
