Rot, that was all that could be smelt in the abandoned building, well, not exactly abandoned. The building was Fredbear's Family Diner, empathise on the was, now it was just a burnt shell, mostly empty with no signs of life... aside from the little girl in a red cloak running into the building.

Ruby's P.O.V

I had to run, I'd had enough of dad controlling me, I'd had enough of Yang pitying me, I'd had enough of home. Those were the thoughts that led up to my escape, ever since mom died, dad stripped away my life and Yang pitied me for it.

That had driven me to hate them both, but after the first hour of running in the forest, I had been spotted by a beowolf. I'm not sure how I did it, but I had managed to give it the slip, now I was charging head first into an old, ugly, decrepit shell of a building, still better than nothing.

The second I entered I smelt rot, nothing but rot, well, maybe there was some smoke or something cause it kind of smelt like fire as well. That didn't matter though, all that mattered was the fact that I could sleep soundly tonight. That's what I thought anyway.

Once I was a little deeper into the building I spotted rabbit ears, they couldn't be a faunus, they weren't shaped right, everything about them was wrong, the holes in them, the way they were segmented, the color itself. When I got closer however, my confusion turned to awe, my childish ten year old brain saw a big, fluffy, adorable bunny, it didn't matter that it was the origin of the rot smell, it didn't matter that it had very clear blood stains covering it, none of that mattered, all that mattered was the adorable bunny, just waiting to comfort me.

"He-hey ki-k-kiddo!" a boisterous voice yelled out of the suit, as it spoke, the inside of the suit flashed yellow. After it spoke I stumbled a bit and let out a loud "eep!" before I slammed into the ground. The rabbit jolted suddenly, then a new voice came from within the suit, it was much more human. "Sorry, this suit has a m-mind o-of i-i-its own so-somedays, anyway, my name's William, William Afton, what's yours?" the rabbit questioned.

Gaining a bit of my nerve back, I managed to reply, "My name is Ruby, Ruby Rose! And, uh, sorry for getting scared," I said, barely remembering my manners. "Ah, I'd be more worried about it if you weren't st-startled by this th-th-thing," he said, gesturing to himself, "but what's a cute little thing like you doing out here anyway? Last I checked this building is in the middle of a forest," he asked. I sighed, realising that this guy was probably going to take my back to my "home", but I couldn't bring myself to lie, so I told him everything, about my dad, about my sister, about my mother, even about my uncle.

After I finished talking, I looked back up into his eyes, expecting him to judge me, or worse, pitty me, but instead his eyes conveyed what seemed like regret. "Well t-that's terrible! I-if you wa-want, you can stay here with me, I could be your extra family! We c-c-could p-play board games, e-eat pizza, pa-party, a-and we could sh-share stor-stories! It'd b-be gre-great!" he said, his voice a mix between happiness, hope, and glitchy sounds. "Wow! You'd really do that?" I said, quite excited at the thought of not having to go home. "Of course I would, I happen to be quite the family man ya know," he stated.

At this very moment, I was happier than I'd been for the past four and a half years. "Yay!" I shouted, then I proceeded to tackle the rabbit-like individual. I hung onto him for a good while before my stomach began to growl. "About that pizza you offered me…" I said, giving him a sheepish grin. "Of course, let me just cook one of them up," he replied. Before he could leave I spoke again, "while I'm here am I Ruby Afton?" I asked. He chuckled, " If you want to, I would love that," he said, then he proceeded to walk off to find what she assumed to be a kitchen. Life's looking a lot better I thought as I eagerly waited for William- no, dad to make me a pizza.

1 year later

"A huntress, eh?" asked my dad. At the question, I eagerly nodded. "Well, my old joints can't do all the fancy flips and kicks, but I sure can teach you to fight, I'm quite good with an axe," he said, somehow conveying a sense of pride through the suit. I squealed in excitement. "But we would need to get you an axe, which means we would have to go to the big city of Vale," he said thoughtfully. "Well I guess I have to give you a gift!" he said, clearly excited over the thought of "the gift". "What's the gift?" I almost yelled. "Close your eyes," he instructed. I closed my eyes as instructed, and waited. Then I felt cold metal brush against my skin. "Now open them," he instructed, clearly trying to keep the excitement out of his voice. When I opened my eyes, I realised I was in some form of mask, then I noticed that dad had a mirror, on my head, was the head of the Fredbear suit, I remembered the instructions I had been given on operating a springlock suit, I quickly angled my breathing away from the springlocks in the head. "I get to wear this?" I asked, my heart filling with happiness. "Of course, it's yours, I like Bonnie way more anyway. Well, Vale awaits us!" he yelled. I giggled with happiness again, then set off towards the door.
