'Tachibana Kiyoshu? Hmph, I certainly remember the name but I don't recognize her, though, she does seem familiar somehow...Perhaps the true Sasaki Kojiro has fought her before? Well, either way I wouldn't mind sharing a drink with her.' - Sasaki Kojiro
Prologue: The Summons
[Path to Gremory Estate, Underworld]
Sirzech Lucifer sighed as he gazed out of the train, observing the city below with little care. His mind busy with other thoughts. Today marked Rias's 10th birthday, he should have been ecstatic but in truth... He was nervous, as of now, the contract His parents had signed with the Phenex clan would officially be in effect and unfortunately it was up to him to break this to her. Hearing the sound of the door opening, Sirzechs turned to see a woman with beautiful white hair held in braids with silver eyes, she wore a blue and white french maid outfit, with a white maid headband. This was Grayfia Lucifuge, Sirzech's Wife and Queen.
"Sirzechs-Sama, we shall be arriving in Gremory Estate shortly." The silverette announced as she closed the train door and walked towards him.
"I see... thank you, Grayfia-Chan." Sirzechs acknowledged. Hearing the distant tone of her king, Grayfia sat down next to him grabbing his shoulder and squeezing it softly whilst giving him a look of concern. This brought a smile to the man, after all, it wasn't often his queen broke out of character. Especially while on duty. It reminded him of one of the reasons she had fallen for her. "I'm sorry for worrying you Grayfia-Chan, it's just..." Grayfia silenced him by placing her index finger in front of his lips.
"Shh, I know Sirzechs-Sama. I know it is hard for you to sit by as this happens, I as well worry for Rias-Sama's future. No doubt they believe that you being the person to break this to her would soften the blow." Grayfia whispered soothingly.
"I just wish she didn't have to go through this." Sirzechs grimaced, his parents had signed this contract during the war as a last resort between the both of them to ensure the continuation of pureblooded devils and unfortunately the contract was not nullified despite the introduction of the peerage system. "Especially with the fiancee they are proposing. Riser Phenex has proven to be too arrogant and self-centered and his behavior towards Rias-Tan's peerage all but confirms she would refuse immediately."
"I doubt Rias-Sama would ever consider marrying him." Grayfia Agreed whole-heartedly. The heir of the Phenex Clan was far below her standards. Anyone below her standards was unacceptable as suitors for her Sister-In-Law. "I understand you wish to intervene but you must remember that as a Maou, you cannot favor one devil over another, else chaos would ensue."
Of course, Sirzechs knew all this. Though he didn't give a damn about being seen as bias, the devils of the underworld didn't agree with his line of thought. Breaking the contract himself would not only create tension between the Gremory and Phenex clans but would undoubtedly be taken as a sign of favoritism. Doubt would grow and they would be left with two outcomes. Rebellion and the call for new Maous. Both were unacceptable as either result would destabilize the rather new & fragile balance in the underworld and the possibility to cause another Holy War. Despite the change, they were able to bring to the underworld many devils were still bitter with the Heavenly and Fallen factions and should one ever become a Maou, there was no doubt in his mind of what would follow. They barely survived one war, another war would wipe each faction out completely.
"I already know the consequences of Grayfia-Chan, this is why I've stopped myself from obliterating the contract and personally slapping some sense into both of them." He resigned before his gaze fell upon wrapped presents he had for his little Rias-Chan. Staring at it for a moment he smirked deviously. "But... They never said we couldn't interfere 'indirectly'."
Smiling in amusement, she grabbed said present before analyzing the emblem on the wrapped gift. The emblem of said gift bore resemblance to a sword, a jeweled sword to be exact and in the background was a clocktower. There was only one being this could ever have been sent by. "Why you ever considered exchanging favors with that vampire is beyond me."
"Nonetheless he was more than cooperative. All he wanted in return was entertainment and besides he also said this was a way to 'take care of a request from a student'." He mused. What did the old man mean by that? In all his years he's never met such an odd individual. The Vampire in question was a powerful mage who controls the largest Mage(Magus! Moron!) Association with extremely potent magic. Even the gods quivered (In fear and annoyance) at his name and all of the supernatural feared his existence as one name. Kischur Zelwretch Schweinorg, The Kaleidoscope. The old man was... eccentric in a way, despite his age and role, he seemed to take nothing seriously. So when he had asked this favor from Zelwretch and saw the man's face light up with intrigue before being replaced by a serious expression it worried him greatly. Zelwretch was known for his over-the-top and ridiculous plans that drove anyone up the wall. He couldn't even handle him for the short time he spoke with him, whoever the Kaleidoscope's Student was had his sincerest regards. That thought process halted when the Train finally came to a stop.
"Let's not keep them waiting Sirzechs-Sama, no doubt Rias-Sama is eager to see her older brother, especially when he comes bearing gifts," Grayfia commented as she stood up and walked towards the exit. She knew just how excited the Gremory heiress got when her brother visited. She was always eager to see what he brought from the human world. Especially if it happened to be anime-related.
Sirzechs smiled at that. That was something both knew.
"My thoughts exactly Grayfia-Chan."
[Gremory Estate, Underworld]
"NIII-SAN IS HOOOOOME!" Screamed a young voice, recognizing who it belonged to, Sirzechs smiled fondly handing Grayfia the gifts and preparing himself for what was coming. It seemed his preparation was correct as in a matter of moments a red blur slammed into him and sent him crashing to the floor.
Lying on his back, Sirzechs stared down at the red blur in his arms. It was a girl with long red hair and blue aqua-colored eyes. She wore a simple white blouse and blue shorts, this was none other than Rias Gremory, The Gremory Heiress. She grinned at him giddily as four other figures appeared out of the house. One a raven-haired girl with purple eyes wearing a red and white dress next to her was a small girl with white hair and gold eyes. These two girls were part of Rias Gremory's peerage, Queen and Rook respectively. Both stood there watching the scene, Akeno stifled her chuckle behind her hand while Koneko... was more subtle if the twinkle in her eyes were anything.
"Hey there Ria-Tan! Miss your big brother that much did you?~" He chuckled while patting her head, getting a pout in return. Grayfia stood stoically with the gifts in hand expression as blank as a sheet of paper, though if one were to look very closely there were signs of a smile.
"Mou~ Stop that Nii-San! Of course, I'd miss you it's been so long since you were here! I was beginning to think you forgot." Rias murmured the final part as her head began to lower, yet still Sirzechs heard it. His expression turned serious right then and there. His Ria-Tan thought he'd forget her birthday?! Unacceptable! Using a single finger Sirzechs lifted her head so that she stared right into his eyes.
"Now you listen here! I may be a busy man, maintaining the underworld (Grayfia's eye twitched at that), keeping those old coots in the council check, and ensuring the old satan faction never return! But!" Sirzechs paused his expression turning soft before he continued I will always make time for you Ria-Tan! Just say the word and I'll drop whatever I'm doing to make sure you're okay and happy." Rias' eyes watered at that, she knew he would. he's said so numerous times before... Yet each time it brought warmth to her.
Grayfia however did not find that agreeable or amusing in any particular way. So with a loud cough, she re-announced her presence. Akeno having done that herself when her snickering turned into laughter while Koneko... was being Koneko. Seeing the annoyance hid behind the stoic mask of the Strongest Queen, Sirzechs gulped nervously before adding on.
"So long as it's within reason of course...haha.." he laughed nervously as he glanced at Grayfia, whose only response was grabbing her nose in and shaking her head in frustration at her husband's antics. 'I need a drink after this...'
With that he began lifting Rias off of him as they both made to stand up. Turning around Sirzechs was met with both Akeno and Koneko standing in front of them.
"I apologize for my King's behavior Lucifer-Sama, as we both know, Rias can be quite difficult when it comes to her anime and manga fufu." Akeno teased her best friend, who stammered in embarrassment as she began to blush as red as her hair. Rias growled at her Queen as sparks began to fly between them. All the while Koneko paid more attention to one of the gifts in Grayfia's hand. Seeing this Grayfia glanced at her King only to get a nod, with that she handed the gift to the Nekoshou who immediately sniffed the present before closing her eyes and began to discern what she could from it.
"Gunpowder, Magic, and Chakra." She began listing the scents from the box. Gunpowder and magic mattered little to her, it was the Chakra she sensed from the Box which was more important to her. It was... unusual to have such a divergence of Youkai and Shugoshin (Guardian Spirit) energy in one place, especially considering that Youkai and Shugoshin got along as well as Devils and Holy Water, that is to say not very well. So much from various sources. The one which caught her attention was the scent of Nekomata energy within. It was comforting, soothing and the energy seemed to coat her in a warm blanket. With great reluctance, she placed the gift back in the Gremory head maid's hands. Tears dripped out of her eyes as she returned to Rias and Akeno who immediately ran over and began to comfort her.
Sirzechs stood to the side, unwilling to interrupt their moment, besides something else has his attention right now. At the door of Gremory Estate stood A woman and a man. The woman had brown hair and violet eyes she wore an elegant white dress while the man looked very similar to himself with red hair and blue eyes and a red stubble wearing a matching white suit. This was none other than Venlana and Zeoticus Gremory, The Matriarch and Patriarch of the Gremory Clan respectively...and also his parents.
When Zeoticus nodded to him, he knew what would follow. He just hoped the Favour he called in from Zelwretch was worth it.
[Rias Gremory's Room, Gremory Estate]
Rias Gremory laid in her bed tears staining her face as she laid face-first into her pillow. How...How could they?! She just wanted to enjoy her birthday with the people she cared for! Now she finds out that she's been forcibly betrothed without her consent! TO RISER PHENEX NO LESS! She couldn't accept that! Riser Phenex wasn't even on her list of possible suitors..! Not only was he arrogant. but he had the gall to insult both members of her peerage! Someone who insulted her friends and family was unforgivable! She sniffled as her mind returned to when she found out from her brother during dinner, her hand subconsciously raising to her bruised cheek.
[Flashback, Gremory Dining Room]
Rias couldn't believe what she just heard, her expression filled with denial and mortification as she slouched into her seat. it had to be some sort of joke right?! They wouldn't?! They couldn't?! But as she stared at her parents for some sort of explanation all she received from them was looks of regret as they turned their heads away in shame. To the side Grayfia had begun ushering the staff out of the room knowing full well what would occur.
Koneko and Akeno shuffled awkwardly within their seats before deciding that they shouldn't be involved with this family discussion silently stood up from their seats and left the room both getting a sincere smile of regret from the Head Maid before they exited the room. The moment Grayfia had the door closed is when Rias finally blew up.
"You're kidding right Nii-San? It's just a joke right? RIGHT?!" She screamed at him. Flinching at her tone, he sighed as he shook his head.
"No, as much as I wish it is, it's not. As of now, you are betrothed to Riser Phenex..." Sirzechs spoke solemnly. Teeth grinding in pure rage and frustration, Rias turned her head to her parents her mind full of nothing but anger towards them for forcing this on her.
"How could you do this to me?!" Rias exclaimed in pure outrage towards her parents. Her mother flinched as she averted her gaze while her father though equally regretful steeled himself and stepped forward.
"This contract was formed during the Civil War, Rias. Our numbers were dwindling during the war and to ensure the survival of Purebloods and most importantly our Clan we had arranged this contract with the Phenex Clan. Should we win the war, the two youngest members of the Clans were to be wed. Your brother is now a Satan and as such is not suitable for this contract." Zeoticus explained to her, which only infuriated her further.
"Is that what this is to you?! A way for purebloods to survive?! What about my happiness?! Don't I matter to you?!" Rias accused with tears in her eyes. Unaware of the fact her father has stood from his seat and walked towards his daughter. When Rias finally realized Zeoticus stood before her, hand-reared back.
*SLAP*
Silence reigned as everyone stared at him in shock, Venelana looked halfway between Angry and Mortified that he would strike their child. Sirzechs very similarly glared at the Patriarch of the Gremory Clan. Rias's eyes were wide with shock, she raised her hand to her cheek, hand flinching at the stinging pain before focusing on her father. Grayfia stood to the side with her hands held together in front of herself. They clenched tightly as the expression on the Headmaid's face stiffened and her lips thinned.
Zeoticus felt his heart clench in pain. Never had he raised a hand to Rias before, such a thought has never crossed his mind before and it killed him inside to even do so, but he closed off his heart, steeled his emotions, and reminded himself that as the Head of the Clan. He cannot show his pain at a time like this.
"How dare you say that! Do you really think we do not care for you?! If we could sever the contract so easily we WOULD! Your mother and I have already tried what we could to break this contract, but it is no longer in our hands! The council has already declared this official and has the backing of nearly every other Clan! there is nothing we can do!" He scolded her, the Gremory Heiress sniffled as tears filled lowering her hair so her eyes were hidden. Seconds later the Gremory Heiress rose from her seat and sprinted towards the door. Leaving the room and slamming the door shut behind her.
Out of Rias's hearing Zeoticus sighed as he allowed himself to deflate. Turning his head to Venelana in time to see her stand up and approach him. He prepared himself for how his wife would slap him, scold him for being too harsh on her, but instead, he found her arms wrapped around his torso as she laid her head on his shoulder in comfort. Raising his own hands he grasped her petite hands tightly as they stood like this for a while. Moments later Zeoticus finally broke the silence.
"Was I too harsh on her?" He asked aloud, Venelana raised her head and gazed into his eyes, silently she placed a kiss on his cheek before responding.
"You were." She answered bluntly. Wincing at this he knew, then and there he'd be sleeping on the couch for a long while. Exhaling, he began to ponder on where they had gone wrong and how they would fix this.
"If only we had canceled it sooner, we wouldn't have to deal with those fools of the council!" Zeoticus spewed out, venom clear in his tone when speaking of the council. What was the point of a Revolution if they were going to hold onto the ways of the old!
"It's too late now dear, all we can do is make amends." She whispered soothingly before unwrapping herself from his body. Walking over to her son she gave him a kiss on the cheek before walking towards the exit. Grayfia bowed her head to the Matriarch and proceeded to open the door for Venelana, closing the door silently behind her.
With that Zeoticus turned to his son. Sirzechs Lucifer, one of the New Satans after having fought valiantly in the Civil War.
"Sirzechs.."
"Yes Father?" The Satan inquired.
"You have my permission to use your gift." He declared as he walked towards the exit. Like she had before, Grayfia opened the door for the Patriarch. Just before leaving, Zeoticus finished his declaration with one final request. "Please, my son. Do what you can to fix this old man's mistakes... Make things right." With that, the Patriarch left the room and Grayfia closed the door, leaving only herself and her King.
"Grayfia," Sirzechs called out to her, with that the maid approached her husband and stood behind him.
"Yes Sirzechs-Sama?"
"Let's go check on Rias-Tan."
"Of Course Sirzechs-Sama."
[End Flashback]
At some point she had considered running away, but the thought never went further than that. She realized the effect her disappearance would have on her friends and family. Despite having been the reason for her current predicament she could never hold anything against them. She'd never wish any harm upon them and neither could she bear being the source of their pain.
Her expression became determined. She wouldn't give up however, one way or another she WOULD break this contract. There had to be someway...
*Knock* *Knock*
Shaken from her thoughts Rias turned her head towards the door, hesitant at first she stood up and opened the door. Outside the door was Sirzechs at her with concern as he held the two gifts in his hands still.
"Hi, Rias-Chan, I just wanted to check on you." He spoke in a soft tone. "How are you feeling..?"
Rias bit her lip reluctant to answer. seeing this her brother sighed before allowing himself through, she places the gifts on a nearby desk and began comforting hugging his dear sister. It was at this point that Rias finally crumbled, her tears falling freely and staining his shirt as she wailed into his arms. Grayfia the Head maid of the Gremory had entered the room at this point, seeing the scene she silently closed the door behind her and simply stood by awaiting her time.
After about ten minutes of staying in the same position she finally ceased crying. Finally letting go from his embrace Rias sniffled before finally asking her question. Despite knowing the answer she asked nonetheless. "I suppose you can't do anything about this Nii-San?"
"Unfortunately, no I can't, Ria-tan. Directly interfering with these types of matters will be seen as favoritism and you know what would happen if we were seen to favor one over the other." Sirzechs answered solemnly. Seeing the down expression however he lifted a hand and patted her head. "But, there was something else. Tou-san and Kaa-san had been kind enough to leave a loophole in the contract on the occasion either heirs didn't wish to be wed."
" Really? What is it?" Rias asked her eyes lighting up in hope.
"Once both heirs are of age, should one find the other to be unsatisfactory in any way, they can break the contract with a Rating game." Sirzechs states. Hearing this all but dashed her hopes of severing the contract. For all the arrogance and bravado the boy had, she would admit the Phenex DID have quite the record and unlike her, Riser did have a full peerage. Seeing the look on her face he bumped her head with his fist.
"Itai! Mou~ What was that for Nii-San~"
"Now, now there's no need for that. As I said when you're of appropriate age, You still have another 7 years before any of this happens. Plenty of time to fill out the rest of your peerage before the rating game." Sirzechs scolded before giving Grayfia one of the gifts. "As I said, I cannot interfere directly. Grayfia take this and prepare the ritual please!"
"Hai Sirzechs-Sama." Grayfia bowed before walking into the middle of the room and kneeling on the floor, she unwrapped the box and opened it revealing Matchlock pistol, A glowing red jewel, chalk and also 2 other books one larger than the other. While the chalk and the books seemed rather normal, the other items seemed to emanate vast amounts of Mana. The Matchlock Pistol itself was overwhelming it could be compared to a powerful Sacred Gear, but the Jewel itself was on a whole other level she had absolutely nothing to compare it to other than to a Longinus! Using the chalk Grayfia began to draw what seemed to be a summoning circle.
Curious Rias raised an eyebrow before asking "What's this Nii-San?" For Grayfia to willingly draw on her floor meant it was something serious. All who knew the maid understood she took her duties as a maid rather seriously and few things ever made her discard her duties.
"This my dear Ria-Tan is a favor I've called in from the Kaleidoscope himself(That shocked her), it's a summoning ritual capable of summoning powerful familiars. According to him only the likes of the Holy Grail can summon these powerful beings." Sirzechs explained, noticing the look on Rias' face he decided to answer her unspoken question. Grabbing the red gem which glowed with power. He continued. "Of course as we have no Holy Grail the old vampire gifted us with this gem. This gem was created by a student of his, capable of recreating and sustaining the level of mana the Holy Grail emanates." Taking the gem in hand she gazed at it with awe and disbelief. The Red gem shining in her hand brightly.
There weren't many items that could hold the same power as the Holy Grail. Even fewer could sustain said energy when used. Many gods have tried to replicate the holy artifact only for the vessel to break from the levels of Mana. It was with that very reason that the Holy Grail was locked within the strongest vaults of the Vaticians, completely protected by the remaining energy of God himself nothing could enter it without the blessing of the Seraphs. For anyone to be able to infuse and sustain the level of Mana EVEN close to the Holy Artifact and not have it explode in their face was astonishing.
Having completed the preparations, Grayfia then announced to both devils of its completion. Interrupting Rias' s line of thought. "Sirzechs-Sama, Rias-Sama. The Summoning Circle is ready."
"Thank you Grayfia-Chan." The Satan acknowledged. The head maid proceeded to step aside as Sirzechs lead his sister towards the summoning circle, taking the Gem in hand he placed it in the middle of the summoning circle alongside the pistol. He then grabbed the book before handing it to Rias.
"This book holds all you need to know before summoning Ria-Tan, we'll talk tomorrow after you have completed the summoning. We have a lot to discuss when you're done." With that both Sirzechs and his, queen exited the room. It wasn't long before she felt signs of Magic surrounding her room, it didn't take long for her to realize that her brother had cast a spell to ensure no one would sense any mana build up. No doubt to ensure her privacy. If that was the case then Grayfia would likely inform the staff to not disturb her for the rest of the day. Sighing it took her a moment but eventually, she opened the first book, deciding to trust in her brother, why wouldn't she after all? Especially if it could potentially save her from this marriage.
The Book was called 'Servant's for Idiots Vol. I by Lord El Melloi II' Rias's eye twitched at the title before sighing in resignation. Opening the book she began reading its contents. One the first page it spoke of what Servants were typically the spirit of Heroes which have accomplished great deeds in their life. Becoming objects of worship after their death and are recorded in the Throne of Heroes. All Servants have trump cards known as Noble Phantasms. Noble Phantasms are the 'Crystalized' embodiment of a Hero's ultimate mysteries given form through historical facts or anecdotes. These can be physical weaponry, support items, magic or unique attacks, curses, and changes to the environment.
Servants were commonly summoned under 7 main classes. There are currently 2 other recorded classes.
Turning the page she saw an illustrated picture of a Knight in heavy full plate armor. Held in front of his face with both hands was a longsword. Written under the image was a description.
Saber: The Heroic Spirit of the Sword, said to be the strongest of the 7 standard classes. They were the most straight forward of the Servant classes. Saber servants have the best attributes in all but Magic. These servants have High Magic Resistance and the Riding Skill. Examples of possible Saber classed servants are Arthur Pendragon, Sigurd, Siegfried & Fergus Mac Róich.
Once more turning the page she saw another illustrated image of a female knight knocking an arrow on her bow and preparing to fire.
Archer: The Heroic Spirit of the Bow, Archer Servants had powerful Noble phantasm and high magic resistance. A unique skill only possessed by Archer class servants was Independent Action, allowing them to act independently and freely without masters for long periods of time. Note: One does not essentially have to wield a bow to be an Archer. Among the Archer class Servants, are the likes of Gilgamesh, Arjuna, Robin Hood & Tomoe Gozen.
The next page was the illustration of a man in normal clothing with a large feathered hat and wore partial armor plates over his attire. Held in his hand was a spear.
Lancer: The Heroic Spirit of the Lance, were known for their agility and range in close quarters combat. Second only to Saber class servants in terms of Attributes they possess only slight Magical Resistance. Examples of Lancer classed Servants are Cu Chulainn, Karna, Vlad the Impaler III, Leonidas & Diarmuid Ua Duibhne
Turning the page again revealed the image of a beast-like creature holding a weapon in its grasp.
Berserker: The Heroic Spirit of Berserk Rage, Servants under the Berserker class possess a unique skill known as Madness Enhancement, this strengthens all the attributes of the Servant in exchange for their Sanity. Though they have lost their sanity they do not lose their knowledge of battle. Heroes likely to be under the Berserker Class are Herakles, Lu Bu, Darius III, Eric Bloodaxe, and Beowulf.
On the next page was the image of a knight on a chariot
Rider: Heroic Spirit of the Mount, These Servants have lower attributes compared to the 3 Knight classes, however, they do make up for this with high ranking Noble Phantasms. high ranking Riding skills and Magic resistance. Examples of Rider class Servants are Iskander the Conqueror, Astolfo, Achilles & Francis Drake.
She turned the page again and found an image of an Old man wearing a hooded robe
Caster: The Heroic Spirit of Spells and Sorcery, All Caster type servants have a high magical attribute. Due to this most Caster type servants have all other parameters lowered. With most classes also having Magical Resistance they are considered rather weak. However, the Unique Skill Territory Creation can make them one of the strongest servants in the Holy Grail War by changing the land around them to suit their needs. The Longer a Caster Servant has stayed in their Territory the more dangerous they can be later on. Known Casters were Medea, Merlin, and Circe.
Turning the page one more time she stumbled upon the final page for Standard Classes, this one was of a skull masked man with two daggers in his hands.
Assassin: The Heroic Spirit of Assassination, they have lowered attributes due to not being known as Heroes. These Servants seek for the most advantageous opportunities to strike. Assassins possess the Unique skill Presence Concealment, it allows for Assassins to remain undetected whilst spying or ambushing enemy Masters or Servants. Examples of Assassins are Hassan-I-Sabbah, Jack The Ripper & Kato Danzo.
Taking a moment she processed the information she just read. After a while, she looked back down in disbelief and awe. Those were quite the classes! Each was powerful and deadly in their own way as well. If what the book indicated was true and each Servant was equipped with Noble Phantasms that were the very embodiment of their greatest history. That meant that someone who Summoned King Arthur would have a complete Excalibur?! It was pure luck none of the other supernatural factions had heard of this ritual. If they did well... All hell would break loose. No pun intended.
Deciding to finish off the Book she turned the page to find an illustrated image of a woman bearing the robes of a saint. In one hand was a banner and in the other a scale.
Ruler: The Heroic Spirit of Arbitration, mediators of the Holy Grail War. They enforce the laws all Heroic Spirits must uphold and as such contain 3 command spells over all other Servants. Only Servants with no wish for the Holy Grail were capable of being summoned as Rulers. Known Rulers were Jeanne D'Arc, Charlemagne, and Saint Martha.
The final page of the book was an image of a human of unidentifiable gender. Malnourished and chained onto the ground.
Avenger: Heroic Spirit of Vengeance, servants born of powerful hate and resentment that does not fade even after death. The common point of each Avenger is their fixation on humans, to the point they could never evolve from being human. The likes of Avenger Class Servants are Gorgon(Medusa), Oda Nobunaga, and Edmond Dantes.
To summon a Servant one must perform this Incantation. To ensure the summoning of a desired Servant one must have a Catalyst. Catalysts must have some sort of connection to the History of the Servant in question or directly related to them. It was then she realized the purpose of the Matchlock pistol, if she had to guess the Servant she would summon is a gunman, perhaps the Archer Class? None the less she raised her head towards the summoning circle and began to chant.
"Let silver and steel be the origin, let stone and the archduke of contracts be the foundation."
"Let my father Zeoticus be the ancestor, let rise a wall against the wind that shall fall."
"Let the four cardinal gates close and the three forked road from the crown, reaching unto the kingdom, circulate."
"Shut(Fill), Shut(Fill), Shut(Fill), Shut(Fill), Shut(Fill)."
"Let it repeated five times, simply shatter what was once filled."
Suddenly the summoning circle began to glow blue with Mana as the room shook, the Gem began to shine brightly as both items within the circle slowly rose. Still focusing however Rias ignored all this as she continued.
"I hereby declare!"
"Your self is under me, My fate is your sword!"
"In accordance with the approach of the Holy Grail, If you abide with this feeling, this reason! then answer!"
The Summoning Circle changed from its blue hue into a deep crimson red as the Catalyst and the gem rose into the air, slowly revolving around one another. The shaking of the room became much more apparent as objects around the room began to fall.
"For this is my Oath. I am the one who becomes the good of the world of the dead, I am the one who lays out all the evil of the world of the dead!"
"From the seventh Heaven, attended by three great words of power!"
"Come forth from the rings of restraint! 0 Keeper of the Balance!"
With this declaration, The Gem and Flintlock blurred out of existence as the amassing amount of mana building up finally unleashed in a great flash blinding Rias and stunning her.
[Honnoji Temple, Unknown]
(Play: Code Vein, Memories of the Lost)
Honnoji Temple, the final resting place of her lord Nobunaga Oda and also, her greatest failure. Surrounded by the accursed flames that burned the temple was a single woman, with long jet black hair in a ponytail and crimson red eyes. She wore a black Taisho-styled Kimono with gold outlining and black boots. Draped on her left arm was a red shoulder cape. Worn over this attire were black and red pieces of samurai armor (Chest Piece and Leg Guards), a single armguard was fastened over the right arm, and a simple black fingerless glove over the left. Laid all around her were the countless bodies of Sengoku soldiers that battled during the burning of Honnoji Temple, aimlessly she stared at the temple with nothing but regret. She hadn't been strong enough to hold off the rebels or even force a retreat. She wasn't fast enough to save her Daimyo and her wife from death.
With a single tear that dripped out of her right eye she closed them once more, the flames haunting her even in her dreams.
"Let silver and steel be the origin, let stone and the archduke of contracts be the foundation."
"Let my father Zeoticus be the ancestor, let rise a wall against the wind that shall fall."
Her eyes snapped open as she heard those words, her arms reached out as her blade materialized in her hands, it was then that she felt the tug of a familiar Summoning Ritual. 'Ah, is it that time again?' She pondered, it appeared that once more she'd be fighting as a Servant. She was no stranger to the Holy Grail War. With the number of timelines that existed and were being created, it was no doubt each servant has been summoned before. Though they were vague she still had memories of each summoning. Some more prominent than most in her mind.
"Let my father Zeoticus be the ancestor, let rise a wall against the wind that shall fall."
"Let the four cardinal gates close and the three forked road from the crown, reaching unto the kingdom, circulate."
The first memory which came to mind was of Trifas, where she was summoned under the Ruler(Official) Servant. Jeanne D'arc, Maiden of Orleans. As expected of the Holy Saint, Jeanne was a kind and humble soul yet willing to battle when the time came. Although she herself had no belief in the gods, the Holy Saint's belief in her's was admirable, almost like her own in her Daimyo. It was an honor to fight alongside her.
With so many Servants at the time she had found many fellow Servants that held her interest. Most prominent of all other than Jeanne D'arc being Mordred, Knight of Rebellion.
"Shut(Fill), Shut(Fill), Shut(Fill), Shut(Fill), Shut(Fill)."
"Let it repeated five times, simply shatter what was once filled."
With this another memory entered her mind. One in which she was summoned alongside King Arthur by a third-rate Magus, a rare occurrence indeed. His name was Shirou Emiya a young man with auburn hair and gold eyes. Despite his complete ineptitude in magecraft(Apart from what he liked to call Tracing) and the inability to fully support either of them with Mana she fought for his sake alongside the King of Knights. She watched as the man faced his future with determination to surpass it, to prove his dream was not wrong.
What was that dream? To become a Hero Of Justice. A foolish and selfish dream. Selfish, but beautiful.
"I hereby declare!"
"Your self is under me, My fate is your sword!"
"In accordance with the approach of the Holy Grail, If you abide with this feeling, this reason then answer!"
For the final time before the chant ended, yet another memory came to her mind. This particular memory was one of her fondest and clearest memories being of a world otherwise known as the Moon Cell. Her master a young girl with brown hair and chocolate eyes, she wore a simple tanned female school uniform. Her name was Hakuno Kishinami. In many ways this girl was the most 'normal' she had ever seen. Yet somehow Kiyoshu had drawn her in with a simple, selfish wish. To live.
"For this is my Oath. I am the one who becomes the good of the world of the dead, I am the one who lays out all the evil of the world of the dead!"
"From the seventh Heaven, attended by three great words of power!"
"Come forth from the rings of restraint! 0 Keeper of the Balance!"
Slowly her body began to disappear in a golden spectacle, all as a smile made it's way across her face. One of interest and intrigue.
"What master will I have this time I wonder?"
[Rias's Room, Gremory Estate]
When the light finally died down, Rias finally opened her eyes and couldn't believe what she saw standing before her was none other than the black-haired woman herself kneeling before her. In her hands a red bladed katana with a black hilt and in the other a matchlock rifle that bore a great resemblance to the pistol.
The black-haired woman rose her head and opened her eyes, revealing them to be blood red in nature. They stared at the Gremory with curiosity before shining with recognition.
"Ah, I see. So you are my master." The Ravenette chuckled amusedly before announcing. "Very well then, Servant, Avenger! Has answered your summons! My true name is Kiyoshu Tachibana, the Guard Dog of the Demon King. Now..." The now christened Kiyoshu drawled out as she got off of her knees and stood up. "Whose head must I take, Master?"

Next Time!:
Tension rose in the room as silence overwhelmed the residents of the room, none knew of what would come but they definitely didn't expect was chuckling. It was mirthless and held nothing but bitterness in its tone.
" For you to bear her name and show great resemblance in appearance...It seems the Gods truly have cursed me for forsaking them." She mused before the smile on her face was wiped off completely replaced with a spiteful glare, the frown on her face hid the grinding of her teeth. Gone was the false cheerfulness in her tone, in its place was burning rage, as her eyes seemed to glimmer in power.
"Forgive me, for this is the height of selfishness. I know you are of a different world, a being I shouldn't fault, perhaps you had reason in killing my lord, perhaps in this world, he did not hold true to his dream..." She murmured somberly before flicking her shoulder cap back as she trusted her hand out. "However nonetheless I cannot forgive you! I see only see one way we will EVER get along in the future!"
"I, Kiyoshu Tachibana! Captain of the Oda-Bakufu challenge you!" The Avenger declared as she unsheathed her blade and pointed it towards a man. Said man had platinum blond hair and pale skin he had eyes of silver-gold. The man was draped in a blue kimono and black hakama with his own weapon strapped to his hip, he wore a very familiar coat of pale blue-green color and white triangle designs. The coat of the Shinsengumi. "Okita Soji! Manslayer and Vice-Captain of the Shinsengumi!"
