Jeong-won wants to stay inside her arms forever. He can feel her shaky breaths, the tremors of shock in her fingers as she clutched his coat; he can smell the antiseptic layered with the strawberry scent of her shampoo, he is almost touching every single inch of her body, but that doesn't seem enough. Even the time itself is not long enough to make up for all the lost moments they could have had if he was only brave enough.

Before she came into his office to change their lives forever, Jeong-won had already decided that he was going to tell her the next day. The lines he had been telling to convince himself that he had no feelings for Gyeo-ul faded the moment he found courage. All those times he pushed her away because he was too afraid to realize that what he wanted wasn't what he actually needed, the doubts in his head, all of them vanished like sand falling through his fingertips.

He feels his phone vibrate in his pockets and he's certain that she feels it, too. Life is filled with little interruptions; their life is composed of urgencies that they can't walk away from. Jeong-won doesn't let go. No, he won't let her go ever again, not even for a second. He has tormented himself, fighting with all his might to not fall in the position that he's in tonight, but God, does it feel so good – he had no idea that it would feel like this.

But the phone keeps on ringing and ringing. Even if it stopped, it comes alive again with yet another call.

"Prof – " Gyeo-ul starts to say in her quiet voice.

"Don't," Jeong-won stops her and tightens his embrace. For once in his life, he wants to be selfish; he wants to forget about the world and its cruelty, to throw caution to the wind, to live the life that he thought would never be his. He has fooled himself tremendously trying to search for gold elsewhere when the most brilliant diamond in the world is right under his nose.

From somewhere in the hallway, he hears Ik-jun's voice calling him. "Jeong-won! What's taking you so long?"

Jeong-won sighs. He's not ready to let go, but he's not ready to tell his friends either. The only conversation he wants to have is the one with Gyeo-ul. He slowly peels himself from her, his hands lingering on hers. He can still feel her on his skin, her scent is engraved deep in his brain. He smiles at her. "Stay here. I'll try to get out of the band practice." He goes for the door, but she stops him.

She doesn't say anything at first; she looks down sheepishly. "Well, Professor Ahn, I'm on-call this evening." She finally glances up at him apologetically.

He nods, grinning from ear to ear. Of course she wouldn't abandon her patients for him; that is one of the things that he admired about her – she has a deep sense of responsibility and she is always willing to put herself aside for the sake of others. He leans down and kisses her on the cheek. "I'll see you later."

Parting with her is hard, but he's glad that all the conflicts his mind has gone through for the past months has finally come into a sweet resolution. He glances at her before he leaves – she is still standing in the middle of the room, frozen in place.

He faces Ik-jun who is waiting impatiently by the hallway. He frowns at Jeong-won. "Why is your face like that?"

Jeong-won shrugs and tries to wipe the ridiculous smile on his face. "Like what?"

He just rolls his eyes and lays his arm around Jeong-won's shoulders. "Nothing."

On the car over to Seok-hyeong's house where Jung-wan and Song-hwa was already waiting along with his mother and the chairman, Jeong-wan wants to call Gyeo-ul to finally say his piece, but with Ik-jun there, he would rather say it to her in person. Oh, how he longed to see her face again.

The next day couldn't come fast enough. Jeong-won struggled in his bed, trying desperately to sleep, but the memory of her confession overpowered all the exhaustion in his body; he just wanted to be with her again.

Jeong-won runs desperately to the GS room as if his life depended on it only to find that Gyeo-ul isn't there. One of his colleagues is there, making a cup of coffee. "Professor," he mutters through his heavy breaths. "Have you seen Dr. Jang?"

The professor laughs at the sheer sight of him. "Well, I made her go to sleep, but she didn't want to, so I sent her for breakfast." He pauses for a second. "Our Dr. Jang Gyeo-ul is hardworking, is she not?"

He takes off again. He dashes to the cafeteria, not minding how he's still not changed into his coat and scrubs. His briefcase pathetically moves in his hand, but he doesn't care. Nothing matters anymore. The dining hall is filled with doctors and nurses alike, eating away their lack of sleep for another day at the busy hospital. He finds her sitting in one corner, stuffing her face with rice and sausages. He quickly approaches her.

When she sees him, a deep blush fills her face. She covers her filled mouth and stands up to greet him. "Good morning, Professor Ahn." She chews on her food before speaking again. "Is there a patient? I'll clean this up now."

He shakes his hand, laughing. "No, please eat. I just want to see you." It seems silly that such words came out of his mouth, but strange as it was, it beats having to lie to her or trying to hide his feelings.

She proceeds to take spoonful of rice but she keeps on looking at him warily. He takes this as a sign for him to clear the air. "About last night – "

"Gyeo-ul!" Ik-jun appears out of thin air with two cups of coffee in hands. He glares at Jeong-won's presence, suspicion splattered all over his face. "Oh, Jeong-won, you're here, too." He is already wearing his coat over his scrubs. "Why are you still wearing that?"

Jeong-won glances over at Gyeo-ul. Her face is red and her mouth has stopped moving. "I was… well, what are you doing here anyway?"

Ik-jun smiles triumphantly and sets down a cup of coffee in front of Gyeo-ul. He sits next to her. "I am here to deliver good news." He faces her. "Gyeo-ul, we at GS know how hard you've been working; no one has the endurance to keep up with 13 geezers, but you manage to do just that, so we have all agreed to give you a day off or two. Enjoy the day, maybe date someone – " Ik-jun purses his lips in anger towards his friend, "just enjoy the day away from the hospital."

Gyeo-ul gulps down and washes her throat with the coffee. "I really don't mind, Professor Lee. I don't have anything to do anyway."

Ik-jun groans. "Come on, now, Gyeo-ul, this is a one-time offer only." He motions Jeong-won. "Don't you agree, Jeong-won? Tell her she ought to go home."

Jeong-won grins half-heartedly and sighs. He thought that he could spend the day with her despite being under the surveillance of everyone, but she did need sleep and rest. "Gyeo-ul, you should go home after breakfast."

Ik-jun snickers and slaps Jeong-won's arm. "Hey, don't act so friendly to Dr. Jang." But beneath his teasing, Ik-jun smiles at his friend knowingly. "You hear that? Go home."

"Fine." Gyeo-ul returns to her food.
