Chapter 13: Chakra control

It was the first day of the chunin exams and Naruto was overjoyed. Naruto had realised that there was no written test in the first exam. Deidara and Kurotsuchi were out gathering information on the other contestants while Naruto was sleeping in. Naruto had learned that Temari was participating in the chunin exams with her brothers and he made her promise not to tell anyone of his identity. Sunagakure was a nice place if you got over the extreme heat and the sandstorms.

"Naruto, hurry up, the participants are leaving from Suna's main gate in twenty minutes to get to the forest of death!" Kurotsuchi yelled at Naruto, scaring him. Naruto got back in his clothes from yesterday and covered his whisker marks with make up. He was hoping that Kankuro wouldn't find out that he was using makeup because then he would be blatantly hypocritical when insulting his makeup. Naruto and Deidara had made a further effort to look even more different so that if they had to use their kekkei genkai they wouldn't be recognized. Naruto had cut his hair so that it was no longer spiky but instead flat. Deidara had cut off his pony tail and the hair overhanging his left eye to make him look further unrecognizable. Naruto and Deidara both had a slight tan to make their skin colour differ. They both also wore gloves to cover their kekkei genkai. They were both surely unrecognizable.

The walk to the exam was rather peaceful, he was walking twenty metres behind Deidara and Kurotsuchi to try and avoid listening to their arguments. Once he arrived at the main gate he saw the participants that were taking the chunin exams and saw some familiar faces. He saw all of his graduating class there including his old team. Lee and Kiba were taking the exam with someone that he didn't recognize. The boy they were with had grey hair done up in a ponytail and wore glasses. Naruto wanted to avoid his old team of genin if at all possible. He also saw that green haired woman from Takigakure there with a team.

The walk to the demon desert was interesting as he saw some people showcasing their abilities. None of them looked particularly impressive other than his older brother showing off his flying raijin. He wondered if Obito was punished for losing to him back at the previous chunin exams but he didn't really care. Some people were riding on their summoning animals and others were using various jutsu. Naruto and Deidara both thought about using the bakuton to make an owl to fly but they realised that it was a bad idea. The trip was going fairly normal until his older brother's team decided to go up to the Hoshi genin and more or less flex their skills.

"Bet you losers from the hidden star don't have any interesting kekkei genkai or jutsu!" Neji told the three. Naruto and Deidara found the snarky attitude of this kid rather funny. Maybe they could take the Byakugan out of his eyes

"Well then you would be wasting your money my friend." Naruto responded calmly while a fake smile appeared on his face. Neji, Sasuke and Obito all looked surprised that one of them must have a kekkei genkai.

"Hey Shippu, maybe we should take out this brats byakugan. I imagine I could sell a dojutsu for a couple ryo. Even one as pathetic as the byakugan." Deidara told his friend, making Neji extremely pissed off.

"Are you looking for a fight you red-headed shit." Neji told Deidara angrily. Neji's teammates didn't know why the Hoshi genin were trying so hard to piss Neji off, but they were angry that Neji wasn't ignoring them.

"Well someone here doesn't know that Hoshigakure is famed for its chakra control. It is said that even a byakugan user cannot effectively block their chakra points." Kurotsuchi told them. Neji thought that this was bullshit however he remembered hearing something like that in the academy when they were learning about foreign villages.

"Neji, let's leave these losers alone. Let's go look for people who might have a chance of making it to the final round." Obito said.

"Pretty rich coming from the Namikaze brat. I heard a rumor that in the last chunin exams you were beaten pretty badly by your failure of a younger brother." Kurotsuchi told the boy. This had made Obito about as pissed as Neji was. Sasuke was beginning to think that he was the only person on his team that wasn't prone to tantrums.

Kurotsuchi's plan was going perfectly, after Naruto had annoyed Sasuke the plan would have succeeded. "You're looking awfully smug considering you lost to a wind style user in the past exams. I thought that all Uchiha were fire style users? You must be pretty pathetic." Kurotsuchi grinned at seeing Sasuke get mad. The plan was working perfectly. Sasuke was an Uchiha, so being mocked really made him angry.

The three Hoshigakure genin turned their backs and walked away. As they were walking away Obito placed a flying raijin mark on Naruto's back. Kurotsuchi's plan was a success. When the Hoshigakure genin were out of earshot Obito whispered to his teammates.

"I placed a flying raijin marking on the shorter ones back. We are targeting them when the exams start." Neji and Sasuke agreed to Obito's plan.

Once everyone reached their starting positions in the demon desert the exam began. As soon as the exam started naruto took off his shirt and placed it on the ground revealing his six pack. Naruto and Deidara began producing a lot of smaller bombs and placed them on top of the shirt. The explosives weren't enough to kill someone but they were enough to knock them out. Seconds after the explosives were laid three people appeared out of nowhere and were knocked out quicker then you could count to two.

"What a bunch of idiots. Did they really fall for the most obvious trap ever?" Kurotsuchi asked her teammates.

"I believe they did Chikyu. Anyway hurry up and get on the owl so we can get to the centre. We're lucky they had the heaven scroll." Naruto responded. Deidara, Kurotsuchi and Naruto were overjoyed that they wouldn't have to listen to their bragging in the follow up rounds.

"Should we take their eyes?" Deidara asked. Naruto and Kurotsuchi both shook their head so Deidara wrote a note instead and placed it inside Neji's front pocket.

However they are so pathetic we decided we probably couldn't sell them

"He is going to be very pissed when he reads this message." Deidara told his teammates.

"Lady Kazekage, look at this tape. These three Hoshigakure genin made it to the central tower with both scrolls in 25 minutes!" Lady Chiyo looked at the tape and saw the three Hoshi genin in the tower 25 minutes after starting time.

"That's absurd, I need to tell the hokage about this. These three are definitely above genin skill level." Lady Chiyo responded.

"This may be average for a genin level for their village. There has never been any participants from Hoshigakure before so we don't know what is average for a genin of their village." Baki told the kazekage.

The five days had passed and the three Hoshi genin were unbelievably bored. The final matches were battles in teams. In the finals there were four teams from Konohagakure, two teams from Sunagakure, one team from Takigakure and one team from Hoshigakure. Naruto heard the first matches be announced on the loudspeaker.

Naruto had noticed that all of his graduating class had made it to this stage excluding Kakashi's team. He was worried that the woman from Taki might recognize them but he thought that it was fine.

"Hey big brother Deidara, do you remember that girl from Taki? Well I'm pretty sure that we are against her in the first round." Naruto informed Deidara.

"I doubt this is going to be too difficult. Anyway get ready the battle starts in ten minutes"

"What do you mean Obito's team didn't pass the first exams?" Minato asked Kakashi. Minato, Kushina and Kakashi were up in the hokage box waiting for the matches to start.

"They are currently in the hospital, apparently they got demolished by the Hoshigakure team." Kushina, Minato and Kakashi were all disappointed at the genin team.

"How long was it until they got knocked out?" Minato asked his old student.

"37 seconds!" Kakashi replied sadly.

Minato's jaw dropped so far it almost hit the flaw. He closed his mouth slightly to start talking. "How?"

"Apparently Obito placed a flying raijin mark on them before the match. The Hoshi genin noticed and set a trap."

"What an idiot. I'd rather him pass the chunin exam instead of me having to promote him for no reason."

The match between the Hoshigakure genins and the Takigakure genins started quickly. The blue haired girl who he had found out was named Fu started the match by creating six wings on her back, three on each side.

"Betcha can't make wings on your back like I can!"

"You really do not know a thing about Hoshigakure, well you probably know more than those three loser leaf genin." Kurotsuchi said as all three of them channeled their chakra into different sections on their back to make wings.

Fu's jaw dropped however Fu's jaw was not the only jaw that dropped. The entire stadium watched in awe as the Hoshigakure genin created wings out of chakra.

"I guess I shouldn't make assumptions anymore." Fu noted. Before Naruto realised Fu was dashing towards him to try and take him out of the fight. She slammed him away from his teammates and successfully separated him. Fu's teammates went to take on Naruto's teammates in one on one battles as well. Fu engaged Naruto in a taijutsu battle. She was clearly superior to Naruto as she was forcing Naruto to be on the defensive. Naruto was doing his best to dodge the attacks but he eventually got overwhelmed and hit by a windmill kick.

Naruto was sent flying and hit the wall of the arena. A smile appeared on Naruto's face as he started changing the shape of his wings. Naruto's chakra now took on the form of a dragon and was heading straight for Fu. Fu tried to dodge the chakra however it was too late and she was slammed into the opposite by the chakra before it returned to a wing position. Fu was not getting up from that hit and her teammates and her teammates were down as well.

"So that's that's the famous chakra control of Hoshigakure." Lady Chiyo told Baki.
