A Sad Boy in a Tree house

Chapter 17

Stepping Up

A mirror stood in front of Izuku in a large room filled with an assortment of clothes. Lights across the walls are similar to the control room of his TARDIS. Izuku examined his reflection sporting a grey suit jacket, short red tie, black slacks, white button up shirt, and his red sneakers. His watch was mostly hidden under the sleeve. Grabbing the watch with one hand he clicks a button. His clothes shift within a second to his usual green coat and bowtie. Smiling to himself he clicks it again to return to his school uniform.

Izuku walked out the doorway of the room and wandered back to the main room of the TARDIS. He peeked his head outside the doors and looked for anyone in the area. Finding his opportunity he slips out of the doors and walks towards the school. The sun is barely rising as he walks along the path with his hands in his pockets.

At Principal Nezu's desk he gently places some papers into a folder. Tea sat on a little plat at the corner of his desk. The small bodied principal turned his seat and slid himself off to walk over, grab his beverage, and sit comfortably on one of the sofas with the folder still in one of his hands.

*knock knock*

"Come in." Nezu smiled knowing who would be at his door. Izuku stepped inside and took a seat across from the creature.

"So, what did you want to talk about before the day starts?" Midoriya knew he would normally arrive earlier than the students because he was also a teacher but he was told that he would interact with the body as a student at first.

"Oh, I invited you to inform you that one, you will be spending today with the students of your homeroom class." Midoriya didn't look amused at the already known information. Nezu slid the folder over to his student and coworker. Izuku picked it up and started to look into it.

"Secondly, this will be your schedule for your time here. Because our teachers are also pro heroes, you being here will give them time to contribute to their other job. So you will attend 1-A for homeroom and 6th period everyday as a student. Meanwhile You will help with the support course every fifth period when all the classes will be in the workshop. Over each week you will get to teach every subject minus foundational hero studies to every class in the school."

Midoriya looked back up to Nezu and put the folder in his jacket. "Wait, if I'm teaching every class in the school won't it be strange for my classmates if I just get up from my desk and start being a teacher for them?"

"Of course! Unless one of the teachers is unavailable and we can't get someone to cover to teach your peers then and only then will you fill the temporary position."

"That makes sense. So is there anything else you wanted to talk to me about?"

Nezu shifted slightly in his seat as he looked closer to Izuku. "I would be cautious around Shota Aizawa. He tends to do background checks on those he is curious about." Midoriya slightly stiffened as the principal got out from his couch and walked behind him. "And I think you have a much more complicated past beyond your many scholarly achievements."

Izuku turned his head slightly to have Nezu within his line of sight. A small smile was still present on the furry face but there was a different look in his eyes that seemed to pierce Izuku's mind. He got up from his chair trying to ignore what he just saw and moved to the door.

"Thank you for the information Principal Nezu but I should head to my class now." With a simple swift bow he ended their time and left out the door.

Midoriya let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. 'That was stressful. I can't wait for a more normal student setting.' His legs moved him down the hallway. Along his path he passed by some other students. None of them acknowledged the green mess of hair as he moved aimlessly and his head to the ground. 'I might be making a bigger footprint than I thought. What do I need to do to make sure Dad gets the message I'm here? Or Mom or my siblings or any survivors?!...Why can't I tell there here?'

A large door stood in front of Izuku now. 'I get that you have massive doors for massive people but you hardly have enough room with all these students here if someone was that big. Mine as well have a video call with them.' Grabbing one of the handles he takes a deep breathe and opens the door.

"Don't put your feet on the desk!" Iida almost yelling at Bakugo who is leaning back in his chair with a foot planted on his desk.

'Oh no, not these two.'

Bakugo gives a sneer back at Iida. "Huuuh?"

"Don't you think that's rude to the UA upperclassmen and the people who made the desk?"

'I'm just gonna ignore that.'

The student seated next to the door is none other than Aoyama who notices the new entry. "Bonjour monsieur, glad to see we are in the same class." *wink*

Izuku gives a smile of relief back to the familiar face. "It's great to see you again."

Those who recognized the voice and others who were bored turned to see Izuku. Unfortunately for him this caught the attention of the two loudest in the room. Bakugo gave a scowl while Iida started to march his way over. 'I personally admit when I saw this green haired boy take charge and help that large crowd of students and creating a plan to beat the zero pointer, he demonstrated clear leadership qualities. But the way he has been using money to buy off those around him, to pay off the school to not have to take the test, and most of all! To use a remote to run off all the robots should have easily cost him his chance. He does not show any qualities of a good hero!'

Izuku saw the guy approaching and stuck out a hand to shake it. "Hello I'm Midoriya, I don't think I caught your name when we met."

"I apologize for being direct about this but I think you should leave right now."

A pin could be heard from the sudden silence that enveloped the room. Mina leaned over to Kirishima and whispered into his ear. "Hey, what happened between these two?"

Kirishima knew there were some twisted rumors at first when Midoriya showed up but they vanished as soon as they came once everyone saw him take charge in the practical exam. "I don't know."

Izuku took a second to process the words that have just been said to him before trying to get clarification. "...Um, and why do you say that?"

"You clearly have shown no respect to UA's process of elimination to find the best heroes to train! With the money and leadership qualities you have you could easily be in the top of the business course but all you have done is cheated your way here!"

Bakugo gave a smirk at that statement. 'That's right, I'm not the only one who sees you for who you really are. Won't be long before they find out you're a damn martian.'

Ochaco had walked up behind Izuku and recognized the mess of green hair. "Hey Midoriya! We're in the same class!"

Izuku turned and wanted to cry with joy for the interruption. 'Thank you Ochaco!' "Yeah! I'm glad that you made it. You've been working super hard after all it's no wonder you got in second place."

A low stern voice came from directly behind her. "Go somewhere else if you want to socialize." Aizawa spoke as he pulled out a small pouch and drank its contents in one slurp.

This completely shut the trio at the door up at the bizarre sight of a man in a big puffy yellow sleeping bag on the floor. Eraser head straightened himself off the ground and zipped the bag off. "Ok, it took you eight seconds to get quiet. Time is limited. You kids are not rational enough."

Izuku's mind started to piece the information together from his memories earlier. 'This must be Eraser Head the home room teacher. File said his quirk could eliminate other quirks. Also he expelled an entire class for not "having enough potential. Better not do anything to stand out."'

"I'm your homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa. Nice to meet you."

Most of the class had mixed thoughts about how a tired looking hobo was going to be their homeroom teacher. Aizawa reached back into his sleeping bag and pulled out a blue gym uniform. "It's kind of sudden but put this on and go onto the field."

In the changing room Bakugo kept a close watch on Midoriya from the corner of his eye. 'Alright, how much did you copy from Deku?' Izuku looked to his watch and let out a sigh. 'Should have asked if I needed any other clothes, then I could have put this outfit in the watch. Guess I'll change like the others.' Izuku couldn't help but notice as he changed, the physique of all the others in the room. 'Everyone here looks like they have been working hard to get into this class. I may run a lot and be more fit than the average human but all these guys have abs! Well except for the really short one with the purple ball hair.'

Things were tense for half of the guys there. Sero, Kaminari, Kirishima, and Aoyama were all glancing every now and then to Iida who made such a strong declaration to the guy who helped them all out. Iida and Bakugo were eyeing Izuku for different reasons. Iida internally was fuming because Izuku's body showed no signs of working out to him. Bakugo noticed that this Izuku didn't have any of the scars he gave to the last one. 'Hm, guess you only got the face and the skinny body but nothing else fake.' Lastly Izuku kept glancing at Mezo Shoji, a student with several different arms that were held together by a flap of skin between them. 'How does he shift the ends of them to make different organs? If I was crazy he would be my first victim to figure out how mutant type quirks work.'

Everyone had now gathered and doing a variety of fitness tests. Aizawa had threatened that whoever placed last in all eight tests would be deemed to have no potential. Everyone was working their hardest to prove to him that they were here to stay. Bakugo was blasting at nearly every opportunity, Ochaco was using her quirk to either launch herself or the baseball to wherever she wished. Izuku was doing fairly average overall. 'He said that whoever gets last in all eight tests right? So as long as each person doesn't get last place in at least one area we're all good….right?'

As he waited in line Kirishima and Sero approached him. "Hey man, what's up with you and Iida?" The red haired boy asked Izuku.

"Huh, oh, I'm not really sure but I may have caused a distraction that he's upset about."

Sero interjected nearly baffled at the simple statement. "Are you kidding?! I saw that but no one was that upset about that! Maybe it's cause you did crossword puzzles during the testing?"

"I already took my test earlier that morning in front of the principal though."

Both looked slightly puzzled from the answer they were given. "Why did you need to take the test in front of him?" Kirishima asks trying to wrap his head around it.

"Oh, well I already have a bunch of doctorates from several different colleges so he made a different written test for me to try."

The two's jaws hung in the air as they realized how smart their classmate was. Kirishima got personally fired up as he finally accepted it. "Holy crap man! That's super awesome! Wish I had known earlier then I would have said something!" Sero joined in to give his support with the red head. "Yeah! It's not too late to clear it up with everyone else."

"I don't really mind too much what people think of me."

"That's super manly!"

Aizawa is visibly annoyed by the ruckus caused by the students. Finally, after all the tests are done Everyone eyes the scoreboard. Purple balls on the top of the smaller kid bounce up and down with his body. "I didn't get last place! In your face mister rich!" He points to Izuku, the one in last place.

"But I don't even have any money." Midoriya replies quietly. The students present look between each other with confused and shocked looks. Eraser Head comes up to Midoriya and looks down on him. "You can leave now. As it stands you have no potential to become a hero."

Mixed feelings dance between the students. Bakugo is bearing a winning grin and Iida has a smile present on his face. 'I'm glad UA is not as low as I thought it was.' The boy thought. Ochaco and the others who personally met Izuku are incredibly distraught with the revelation. A taller girl with long black hair is mildly shocked at the fact she thought it was a lie to push them to their best.

Midoriya stepped closer to his coworker. "Excuse me but, didn't you say the person who comes in last in all eight would be expelled? I may not be the best but I got an average score in all areas."

"It takes more than being average to be a hero." Eraser Head moves the boy closer and crouches down to be at eye level to deliver his message. "You got first place in both parts of the exams but without your gadgets you can't do anything to save anyone. Not the citizens, or friends, or family could depend on you."

If the older man could hear a snap in the time lord's emotions he would. But he met the silent rage of the boy who was meeting his intimidating gaze with the eyes that did not belong to a fifteen year old. Eyes that held experience, loss, and currently anger. Midoriya brought his head slightly back and exerting as much force as he could he head butted the teacher. Everyone present let out an audible short scream as they witnessed the scene. Midoriya stood above the man with the rage still inside him. "You know nothing."

His voice didn't raise, but the message was clear. Iida came marching immediately to the situation. "How dare you assault our teacher like that! His words were clear and obvious from the very beginning! If you can't take those words of wisdom to heart than-"

Aizawa laid on the ground as Izuku got a mouthful from the teen. In his mind he felt he was somewhere else. He saw a sky filled with fire as smoke filled the land. Screams were at every corner as explosions echoed around him. He head a noise growing closer to him and he turned around to face it. He barely made out the shape of it in time with a single blue eye stalk pointed at him.

"EXTERMINATE"

His body jolted from the ground covered in sweat. A hand rested on his shoulder as he looked up to see one of his students. Momo Yaoyorozu (One with the ponytail from earlier) and some other students over him. Class 1-A was all over the place. Some were checking on him, some standing on the sidelines saying nothing or a little something, and the yelling contest happening between two groups. Bakugo, Iida, and Mineta (purple ball head kid) were all yelling and being held back by Kirishima, Sero, and Kaminari. Their anger was directed to Izuku who was being defended by Ochaco and Mina.

The teacher did his best to quell the fear of what he had just experienced. 'That, that was more real than a dream. What was that thing.' Voices started to reach his mind as he processed his surroundings. "Aizawa sensei, are you alright?" Momo spoke with a calming yet concerned tone.

"Yes, the kid caught me by surprise is all."

Iida was chopping the air as he was arguing with Mina. "He doesn't deserve to be in UA! He demonstrates no skill of a hero!"

"He saved your butt during the entrance exam!"

"He knocked out a teacher on the first day!"

"He was a pro! If Midoriya could take on a pro already doesn't it already prove he can be a hero without a quirk?"

"His attitude and actions are nothing of a hero! He has used his money to get here but it can't keep him here!"

"He just said he didn't have any money! All he did was give Ochaco a piece of paper that happened to be the winning lottery! And if we're talking about attitude and actions then what about you?!"

The teacher got to his feet and was starting to feel the anger well up inside him at the scene. 'I need to take charge now.'

Kaminari held Mineta's tiny frame as the little guy screamed at Izuku for trying to take over the school to build a harem. Kirishima and Sero were trying to restrain Bakugo as he was yelling with Ochaco. 'LET GO OF ME SOMEONE NEEDS TO STOP HIM! HE'S A FAKE!" smaller explosions started to build up in his palms before all of a sudden they stopped along with Kirishima's quirk.

Aizawa stepped to the group and pulled out his scarf to restrain the angry blonde. Once he was wrapped he spoke with authority. "All of you will calm down or else I really will expel somebody."

This shut everyone up. Confused at the words of the teacher Iida stepped forward to ask his question. "Sir, are you saying that you weren't planning to expel Midoriya?"

"Of course not, I needed to make sure he was committed to this and wanted to see his skills against me. I didn't expect him to be able to knock me out from that weak headbutt."

"B-but, what about the-"

"He never gave anyone at the school money, his device was given permission for the exam, and he took the test earlier that day. Present Mic should have said something about the last one to help prevent false rumors. UA would never allow it if he really did cheat or try to bribe anyone."

Aizawa released his hold of Bakugo and let the boy stand silently to glare at Izuku. 'What did he mean by fake?' "Everyone, go change and grab your syllabus from the desks. Once you've gone over them you can go home. Am I understood?"

"Yes sir!" many of the students collectively said. They all started to move back to the changing rooms. Some whispers were said to one another as glares were shared between some of them. Bakugo started to stomp his way back until a hand was placed on his shoulder. He turned to see Eraser Head looking at him. "I want to speak with you in the class once the students have left."

"...Fine."

It took nearly half an hour for the students to get changed, go over their schedules, and leave. Some of them walked together already making friends and deciding to go somewhere while others made their way home. Bakugo sat on his desk while Aizawa closed the door and locked it. "Why did you call Midoriya a fake?"

"Why does it matter to you?"

The teacher reached for his desk and shuffled through the many folders of his students. Once he reached Izuku's he pulled it out and placed it alongside Bakugo's folder. "Izuku Midoriya went missing when the two of you were in school together."

Bakugo was silent as he listened to the teacher. 'Does he know what happened?! No, they wouldn't have let me in if they did know.'

"After some time passes his only direct relative, his mother, is filled with grief over the loss of her son and commits suicide. Unexpectedly he shows up again at school. Teachers noted a change in behavior and thought nothing of it given the circumstances. Since then he has already skipped grades, gone to several different colleges, and gotten more doctorates than any single person has all at the age of fifteen. This would make sense if he had an intelligence quirk but before he went missing x-rays show that he is in fact quirkless."

Bakugo remains still as the teacher approaches. "You know something more about this new Izuku Midoriya don't you?"

Katsuki Bakugo, who has been investigating Izuku since day one. Who also discovered the blue box in the clouds that the boy went to that was bigger on the inside. Never thought he would find someone who could believe his research. That is until now.

He let a small chuckle out as he reached for his backpack. "Never thought that I would show anyone my work until I had absolute evidence he's a fake." Aizawa raised an eyebrow as he watched his student pull out a pocket projector. Bakugo sets it up on a desk and points it to the front wall. He connects his phone to it and a display of his board from his room comes to life. Eraser Head looks at all the different articles of a blue box, of Izuku's achievements, pictures from several different time periods where Izuku or others showed up near the box. He recognizes a small girl in a painting.

His personal investigation of his student/coworker just got a whole lot more complicated.

Took a little longer to get this one out. Internet troubles and visiting family. I really do look forward to reviews and comments so please send them! Here's the main question that's on my mind lately.

With the hero costume designs and all that, what kind of hero costume should Izuku have? Should he use some armor, capture weapons, random tools, or just have his watch and a screwdriver for his hero costume?

If you have questions, suggestions, funny quips, feel free to send them. I'm also currently looking to commission someone for some art from this story.

I don't own anything besides some classic sodas
