Final Chapter: Ultimate Koopa

[BGM: Peach's Castle – New Super Mario Bros U]

The entrance doors of the castle swung open as Jewel, Trifle and Eight barged in desperately, after witnessing the dark clouds covering the Mushroom Kingdom outside.

"Guys!" Toad came over to them. "What's happening outside?!"

"We have no idea, but we know it's something not good." Jewel replied.

Then, Mario suddenly came in as well, but he was panting heavily.

"*huff* *puff* I made it…" he panted.

"Mario?! What happened out there?" Jewel asked.

"It's…horrible! Those dark clouds were releasing lightning… and anyone in Toad Town who was struck by those were turned into stone!" Mario replied, causing everyone else to gasp in shock.

"Oh no! Were our friends struck too?!"

"Unfortunately, yes. And I was the only one who made it out unharmed."

"…I knew something would go wrong eventually." Trifle muttered.

"So, what should we do? Take out Bowser with just us remaining?" Eight guessed.

Jewel sighed while clenching her fists. "I'm afraid so. He's turned my friends and my sister into stone… and he's going to pay." she growled. "Let's go, everyone."

Mario, Trifle and Eight exchanged glances, before they nodded with determined looks as Jewel led them all the way back to the castle's tower, where they walked up to the final big star door together.

However, shortly after the quartet went down the hole leading to the final Bowser course, a certain Fire-Dark type Pokémon came into the castle after the lightning strikes stopped outside.

"Okay, what was all that commotion outside?" he wondered. "I just came back from that Pokémon tournament in Alola while defending my title, and now everything in the Mushroom Kingdom is a mess?" he then glanced up at the doors leading to the second floor. "If those dark clouds came from the top of the castle, I might as well get those done with." he said and went up the stairs, as Toad saw all this.

"…Oh, he might certainly be a big help for those four!" Toad exclaimed. "I'm counting on you all!"

Meanwhile, at Bowser in the Sky…

[BGM: Koopa's Road (Super Mario 64) – Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games]

The sound of thunder echoed around this final road, where the same dark clouds covering the Mushroom Kingdom were present all over this obstacle course. By being surrounded by those dark clouds, the quartet knew that this is where it ends, and they were going to finish this.

"This is it, guys." Jewel said. "Let's do this."

Everyone nodded in response and jumped off the large arrow platform to a series of platforms arranged like a set of stairs, with the final one having a moving platform sliding out of it. As they got over the moving platform, Eight looked up to see a Red Coin above as he propelled himself up to it with a Woosh spell and grabbed the coin before following the others, crossing a tilting bridge to reach a ramp.

After the ramp, they rounded a corner while taking care of a few Goombas in the way and jumped on a spinning platform, making it to the other side where Mario grabbed the second Red Coin. Next, they made it past a Ferris wheel, but Jewel went to the bottom level to get the third Red Coin before flying back up with her Flight Lapis Lazuli, and then they came upon a Purple Switch that made a staircase appear on the ramp ahead.

Going up and around another ramp while avoiding the flamethrowers and Trifle getting the fourth Red Coin, the group stepped on a lift that moves on its own by following the rail, but they had to jump over some obstacles on the way and Eight grabbed the fifth Red Coin on top of a log. Reaching a section with spinning platforms and Amps after the lift ride, the group carefully made it to the pole, with Mario getting the sixth Red Coin on the first spinning platform, and proceeded to climb up to the upper level.

There, Trifle nabbed the seventh Red Coin on a pole in the middle of two sliding platforms that bridge the gap between them, and then going up on another bending stone path took them to two sets of Ferris wheels as they carefully climbed up to finally reach the final stretch of the course. By fighting against the strong current of wind and after Jewel found the last Red Coin below the stairs leading up to the Pipe, the final Star materialized behind the Pipe.

Reaching the platform with the Pipe, the group first took the 120th Star before they looked down at the Pipe.

"Here goes." Jewel said as she jumped into the Warp Pipe along with the others.

[BGM End]

The group landed on the arena and looked around while bracing themselves.

"Alright Bowser, show yourself!" Mario demanded.

[BGM: Ultimate Koopa – Super Mario 64]

Right on cue, they heard footsteps from behind them as they turned around to see Bowser approaching them.

"So, you've managed to avoid my petrifying lightning bolts and make it all the way here…" Bowser said. "Well that's just fine – I've been looking for something to fry with my fire breath!"

"It's over for you, Bowser!" Jewel scowled. "We have all 120 Stars with us, and we will stop you for conquering the Mushroom Kingdom!"

"Yeah!" her three friends exclaimed.

Bowser merely laughed at this. "Bah! Your Star Power is useless against me!" he then got into a fighting stance. "Your friends are all turned into stone… And you'll never see the Princess again! Bwa ha ha ha!"

[BGM: The Evil King Bowser (Super Mario World) – Fortune Street]

Cue a thunder strike in the dark skies surrounding the arena. Jewel, Mario, Eight, and Trifle stood on fighting stances, ready to take down Bowser and save everyone.

Bowser ran over towards them to punch them, but Mario did the same as both fists connected and created a shockwave that knocked both away. Bowser recovered first and breathed fire, but Eight reflected the flames back by casting Bounce, only for Bowser to measly shrug them off and attempted to drop-kick the Hero, but Trifle interfered by whacking Bowser in the head to knock him down and proceeded to change his staff into a sword but Bowser grabbed him by the leg and slammed him to the ground.

"Gah!" Trifle winced as Bowser jumped up to use Bowser Bomb on him, but Jewel blasted him away with her Blast Pink Tourmaline, giving Mario an opportunity to grab Bowser's tail and fling him into a spiked bomb.

"ARGH!" Bowser roared in agony as he landed back on the arena.

Growling, Bowser recovered and proceeded to rain fireballs at the arena before charging over at Mario to swipe him with his claws, but he dodged by jumping to the side and kicking Bowser on the side of his head and attempted to grab his tail again, only for Bowser to retreat into his shell and use Whirling Fortress to knock Mario away.

"Agh!" Mario cried as Bowser proceeded to roll straight for him, only to suddenly hit a wall of ice that resulted from Munchie's C-c-cold Breath attack after Eight fed him C-c-cold Cheese and Jewel's Ice Aquamarine to make the ice wall sturdier. With Bowser left dazed, Mario was quick to recover and grab the Koopa King's tail a second time and throw him into another spiked bomb.

However… as soon as Bowser got up after being blown by a bomb a second time, that's where he had enough:

"Alright, ENOUGH of this bullcrap!" he roared before stomping the ground hard enough to not only create a shockwave that stunned the heroes briefly, but it also caused the arena to break apart into five pieces, leaving it into the shape of a star. Then, Bowser suddenly took out the Jumbo Star and held it high into the air. "Jumbo Star! Grant me the power I need to crush these fools… GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY!"

The Jumbo Star shined brightly, blinding the heroes for a few seconds… and then the next thing they knew, they saw that Bowser now had somewhat of a rainbow tint on him, looking like how his in-game model was colored in the final battle.

"What the hell?!" Trifle questioned in surprise.

"Yes… YES! I can FEEL the power!" Bowser exclaimed in pride. "Now none of you will stand a chance!"

"We'll see about that!" Mario said as he ran forward and punched Bowser in the gut… but he didn't even flinch. "What?!"

"Is that all you got, plumber boy?" Bowser smirked and backhanded Mario away, but thanks to his new strength, Mario was sent much further away, stopping close to the arena's edge.

"Oooow…" Mario groaned, barely able to get up by the pain he's feeling.

"Mario!" Jewel cried out.

"Why you…!" Trifle growled, lunging towards Bowser and slashing him repeatedly with his sword, but none of these slashes made a single scratch on him. "Seriously!?"

"Pathetic!" Bowser scoffed and drop-kicked Trifle away.

"Waaaugh!" Trifle yelled.

Jewel gasped at that, and then she saw Eight stepping forwards. "Eight…?" she breathed.

"Alright…" Eight growled. "Time to get serious!" he declared before using Psyche Up, channeling energy into him through anger to increase his next attack as he had a red aura surrounding him, and then he ran towards Bowser with a Hatchet Man at the ready while letting out a war cry, and swung his sword down at Bowser with all his might… only for Bowser to suddenly grab his arms as the sword was just a few inches away from the Koopa King's face, causing Eight's eyes to widen in shock.

"Too slow!" Bowser teased and used his free hand to punch Eight in the gut to send him back.

"Ahh!" Eight yelled as he landed on the ground next to Jewel.

"No!" Jewel gasped before she fearfully looked at Bowser.

"I told you! None of you stand a chance against me! I'm way too powerful!" Bowser laughed, as Jewel was trying her best to get Bowser away from her by firing energy bullets at him, but it was no use as Bowser just casually tanked the bullets while walking towards Jewel and grabbing her by the throat.

"Jewel! N-Nnngh…!" Eight tried to get up, only to clutch his stomach in pain by the punch from earlier.

"It seems like I've finally won… and I shall start by getting rid of your pathetic life, dreamy princess!"

"N-No… S-Stop…!" Jewel gagged.

"Any last words?"

[BGM End]

"YOU GET AWAY FROM HER!" a voice yelled, as Bowser was suddenly recoiled by a Cross Chop, causing him to let go of Jewel as she fell to the ground while gasping for air.

"RAWRGH!" Bowser roared. "Who dares interfere!?"

"Hey, Bowser! Why don't you pick someone your own size and strength?"

"Wait, that voice…!" Jewel's eyes widened as she looked over to the one who just attacked Bowser. "…Incineroar?!"

[BGM: The Battle at the Summit! – Super Smash Bros Ultimate]

That's right; the one who has arrived at the castle and gone after the group earlier was the Heel Pokémon himself!

"What!? You?!" Bowser questioned. "You're that last base newcomer from the fifth Smash Bros tournament!"

"You bet I am!" Incineroar grinned while pounding his fists. "I am not about to miss out a great fight!"

"Hmph! It doesn't matter if you came here to interfere! I'll show you that I'm still the strongest, pussy cat!" Bowser snarled.

"We'll see about that!"

Bowser and Incineroar launched towards each other and threw a punch, as their fists collided but none of them was sent back, and then Incineroar suddenly grabbed Bowser's throat and used a chokeslam to knock him to the ground before smacking him in the chest with a Throat Chop.

"Gah!" Bowser cried before kicking Incineroar away and using Flying Slam at him.

Incineroar quickly recovered after that attack and did an enzuigiri kick at Bowser, but he dodged it and proceeded to drop-kick the Pokémon, only for him to counter it with Revenge. Now powered up for the next attack, Incineroar took advantage of that to use Alolan Whip, throwing Bowser against wrestling ropes and unleashing a powerful lariat to knock him into the air before jumping up and doing a double foot stomp to send the Koopa King to the ground.

"Woo! Get him, big cat!" Jewel cheered.

"Nnngh!" Bowser groaned. "I won't…be…defeated…like this!" he growled before using Whirling Fortress, but Incineroar matched that by using Darkest Lariat, with both spinning brutes colliding into each other multiple times to send the other one away.

In the end, Incineroar was the one who knocked Bowser out of his Whirling Fortress move, as he attempted to breathe fire at the Pokémon, but he ran through the flames due to being resistant to fire and did a knee strike at Bowser, but he blocked the attack and swiped his claw at Incineroar, but he sidestepped it before grabbing Bowser and doing a German suplex.

"Rawrrrgh…" Bowser roared in pain… and then Incineroar grabbed his tail. "No, no, no, no!"

"See ya!" Incineroar exclaimed, doing a giant swing in a similar manner to Mario swinging Bowser around, making sure to aim for one of the spiked bombs before throwing Bowser away, sending him into the bomb for the third and final time.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Bowser yelled in agony, landing back into the arena on his shell where he let out a roar in defeat.

[BGM End]

"Had enough?" Incineroar asked after walking over to Bowser, who was back to his original colors. Meanwhile, Eight casted Omniheal to heal all of his and his friends' injuries, giving them strength to get back up. As soon as Jewel got back up, she immediately ran over to Incineroar and hugged him.

"Oh, my big cat! You saved us all!" she squealed. "What exactly made you come here?"

"Let's just say that I had a feeling that you needed my help." Incineroar replied. "I had finished defending my champion title at the Alola tournament, and something in my head just told me that I should head to the Mushroom Kingdom immediately!"

"I guess we all have these sorts of feelings." Jewel smiled after she parted, and then Incineroar looked over at Mario, Eight, and Trifle, who gave him smiles in a way of saying thanks.

"Noooo… It can't be! I've really been beaten?!" Bowser whined, catching the attention of everyone as they looked down at him. "My troops…worthless! I gave them power, but now it's fading away! Arrgghh!"

"Well, that's what you get for misusing the power of the Stars." Jewel said sternly. "And I know that you didn't exactly steal ALL of the Power Stars, as most of them were secret Stars."

"Ugh, now you tell me… I can't believe that there were some in the castle that I missed! Now I see peace returning to the world… Oooo! I really hate that! I can't watch – I'm outta here! Just you all wait until next time. Until then, keep this story project smokin'! Buwaa ha ha!"

With that, Bowser vanishes into thin air, leaving behind the Jumbo Star.

"That's the Jumbo Star… The most powerful of all Power Stars!" Jewel exclaimed.

"Well, I'm glad it's finally over." Trifle smiled. "I'm sure everyone who was turned into stone have turned back to normal."

"Neat!" Incineroar said. "But first of all, who are you two?" he addressed Trifle and Eight.

"Oh, right. My name is Trifle."

"I'm Eight." Eight added, before gesturing to Munchie, "And this here is Munchie, my pet mouse."

Incineroar smiled. "I'm Incineroar, a Pokémon and a member of Jewel's team. Always glad to meet new faces!"

"…He's one of Jewel's team members?" Trifle and Eight thought, not expecting someone like Incineroar to be a team member of Jewel.

"Alright, then!" Jewel interfered, clasping her hands together. "Let's get this Jumbo Star and get out of here!"

"Okey-dokey!" Mario nodded and went over to get the Jumbo Star.

[BGM: Ultimate Koopa Clear – Super Mario 64]

Mario eventually gained a free Wing Cap upon touching the Jumbo Star, and used it to fly off the arena by doing a triple jump. Jewel then used her Flight Lapis Lazuli on herself and the rest of her friends so that they could all fly together and after Mario.

[BGM End]

Soon, the group landed back at the castle grounds right in front of the entrance bridge. The dark clouds were no longer covering the skies, leaving them clear blue once again. The Wing Cap's effect wore off from Mario, and then the group suddenly heard footsteps from behind them.

"Hey, guys!" followed up by Melissa's calling as they saw her and everyone else running up to them.

"Sis!" Jewel beamed as they hugged each other, while the others were just happy to see the unharmed ones safe. "We did it, sis! We beat Bowser!"

"I knew you could do it, even if I was turned into stone." Melissa smiled, and when they parted from the hug, she noticed Incineroar with them. "Oh! Why is Incineroar with you?"

"Oh, well… Let's just say he arrived as an eleventh-hour ranger and helped us out." Jewel winked.

"Ah, I see."

As everyone turned to face the castle, Jewel looked down at Mario and instructed:

"Now, Mario. Release the Jumbo Star and free Princess Peach."

"You got it." Mario nodded and released the Jumbo Star.

[BGM: Ending Demo – Super Mario 64]

Everyone watched the Jumbo Star fly up and stop in front of the castle's stained glass before it glowed brightly, nearly blinding them. Once they opened their eyes, they saw that in place of the Jumbo Star was an unconscious Peach with her hands placed against her chest before she began to gently float down to the bridge. As soon as Peach touched the ground and the sparkles around her faded, Mario ran up to her and removed his cap, and then the others ran up to him afterwards.

Peach slowly opened her eyes and looked around, surprised to see that she was standing outside, but not as much as seeing a large group standing right in front of her.

"Oh!" she exclaimed with her eyes open wide.

"Princess!" Mario smiled.

Hearing Mario's voice, Peach looked down, and saw her favorite hero. "Mario!" she then glanced up at the castle from behind. "The power of the Stars is restored to the castle…" a flock of blue birds flew by.

"Indeed." Jewel nodded.

Peach looked back at the group before her and smiled, "…and it's all thanks to you! Thank you all! We have to do something special for you…" she leans over to Mario and gives him a quick peck on his nose.

"Here we go!" Mario exclaimed after spinning around and giving a peace sign to the camera.

[BGM: Staff Roll – Super Mario 64]

"Listen, everybody… Let's bake a delicious cake… for my heroes…" Peach said as she turns around to head back to the castle.

Everyone else except for Jewel followed Peach, as Jewel stayed outside and looked up at the sky.

"That was such an exciting first adventure! I wonder what other adventures await for me?" she spoke to herself.

"Jewel!" Peach called out to her.

"Oh! Coming!" Jewel proceeded to run in, and then the camera pans up to the sky where more flocks of blue birds flew by and the bright sun was shown.

And now… cue a slideshow of screenshots from the heroes present in this story just messing around each visited course as the BGM rolls.

Bob-omb Battlefield

The starting cast (Jewel, Yoshi, Kirby, Young Link, Sonic, Jack, Eira, and Cloud) was standing at the top of the mountain, overlooking the battlefield in the same way as Big Bob-omb did.

Whomp's Fortress

Trifle and Zelda were standing at the top of the fortress together, looking up at the sky peacefully. Meanwhile, Pikachu was seen flying in the background holding on to Hoot's talons while giving a friendly wave.

Jolly Roger Bay

Neri was peacefully swimming around the waters alongside Unagi.

Cool, Cool Mountain

Kirby and Pikachu decided to dress up the Headless Snowman with winter accessories, such as a snow cap, a scarf, and some mittens, with Jack and Eira helping them out. The Headless Snowman was shown smiling.

Big Boo's Haunt

In the dark, Luigi held a flashlight while looking terrified out of his mind, and Eight was accompanying him while holding up a lit torch and looking cautious.

Hazy Maze Cave

Link, Cloud, Young Link, and Ren were hitching a ride with Dorrie at the Underground Lake.

Lethal Lava Land

Morgana was happily surfing on the lava with a Shiny Shell, as Yoshi and Pichu were watching him from afar and seen cheering.

Shifting Sand Land

Sonic was zooming around the course, even passing by the two Fly Guys looking full while rubbing their bellies and feeling satisfied after they had their nice meal of Cooked Klepto.

Dire, Dire Docks

Neri was shown doing one last prayer in front of her parents' graves.

Snowman's Land

Incineroar was melting down an ice sculpture by shooting fire out of his belt, as a Mr. Blizzard from behind watched in dismay.

Wet-Dry World

Link was shown trying to study the downtown area with the Sheikah Slate, while Melissa looked at him with a look of confusion on her face.

Tall, Tall Mountain

Luigi was angrily chasing Ukiki, who appeared to have stolen his cap again, while Daisy in the back was shown laughing at this.

Tiny-Huge Island

Eight was sitting on top of Tiny Island, looking up peacefully at the sky. Meanwhile, Munchie was standing next to Eight while out of his pocket, shown to be interacting with the shrunken Wiggler that Kirby previously fought.

Tick Tock Clock

Yoshi, Kirby, Pikachu and Pichu were posing for a picture with bright smiles on their faces while standing right next to the Thwomp, who was not giving a crap about this.

Rainbow Ride

Jewel and Trifle were riding on a magic carpet together and waving at the captured cast (Mario, Luigi, Daisy, Pichu, Zelda, and Peach), who were all standing on the cruiser while waving back at the pair.

We now cut on ahead to the castle's backyard, where the Warp Pipe that brought Eight to the Mushroom Kingdom has reappeared. Eight stopped in front of it before he looked back to wave goodbye to his new friends, as they waved back at him. The Hero jumps into the Pipe, and the others watched it sink back into the ground as they simply stood there with warm smiles, and the camera pans up to the skies above one last time.

The End

Yep, Incineroar coming in to finish off the final battle in style! I honestly had this idea in my mind ever since I came up with this story. And yes, that also applies to the BGM I chose for this moment!

But anyways, the first story is finished! I was actually not expecting it to finish that fast. I guess that's what happens when I combine multiple Star missions into one single chapter. In Mario's words: Thank you so much for to reading this story!

Since I've already hinted the next story by the previous chapter, I hope you'll look forward to it! Since we're still in the month of July, I might as well start working on it! Stay tuned for my remake of Super Mario Sunshine, Princess Jewel Sunshine!
