Hey guys! This is my first story, so please go easy. I've had this idea for a while now, and I hope you enjoy this story. This fanfic is a little different. For one, Tina and Zach are twins! I know, a little weird but I think it will be a nice twist. Enjoy:)

Chapter One

I heard the door slam, and when I looked outside my window, I knew that things were never really truly going to be the same again. I mean, I should have seen this coming, it's happened too many times to count. Gosh, if I was her, I would've done the same thing. She's probably tired of the stuff he put her through. I mean, this doesn't mean that she doesn't love him, or that he doesn't love her, but the fact that she left without a goodbye...

I shut my eyes and tried to go back to sleep, but I couldn't after the argument I had just heard. The yelling, the screaming. Even though I wasn't there I could picture it perfectly. I mean, I didn't have to strain my ears in order to hear what they were talking about. This house wasn't very big. I could literally poke my head out of the door to our room and I would be at the kitchen. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love our house. I just think that it gets a little crowded from time to time, and a girl needs her privacy.

After two hours of staring at the ceiling and making shapes out of the popcorn-like texture, I finally heard the front door open, and I was ready to start my day. Every day around this time (6:15 in the morning) my mom leaves for work and my dad starts to take a shower. I don't do well with alarm clocks, so I use the sound of the front door closing as my signal to start the day.

I look over the headboard of my bed and see my older brother sleeping soundly. I look over to the side of my bed and see my younger brother and sister sleeping as well in their bunk beds. I sigh and shuffle my feet into my sandals. After picking out my clothes, my grey Nike hoodie and ripped jeans, I go to the bathroom to get ready. When I step inside, I spot a roach and jump towards the bathroom door to leave.

"DAAAAAD!" After a few seconds of silence, I sigh and go wake up my brother. It's time to get ready anyway.

"Grant," I whisper into his ear. After hearing his grunt, I say it louder. "Grant!"

He stretches his arms above his head and gets up, rubbing his eyes. "What's up? Why'd you wake me up?"

I roll my eyes; it's not that early, and he needs time to fix his hair anyway. "Grant, it's almost 6:30. You're gonna be late if you don't get up now." At this, he thrusts up in his bed and pushes the blankets rather violently off of him.

"Holy shi-" I put my hand over his mouth to stop him from cussing at six in the morning and pointed towards Morgan and Matthew, both who were still asleep. Grant raised an eyebrow and raised both hands in surrender.

"Sorry," he whispered. I rolled my eyes again and gestured with my hand, silently telling him to follow me. When we entered the bathroom, he immediately jumped back.

"Fuc-" I covered his mouth again. I raised an eyebrow at him, and he gently removed my hand from his mouth and smirked at me.

"Why do you keep covering my mouth whenever I am about to let out an explicit word?" I puffed out a breath of air. I have heard enough bad words to last me a lifetime.

Grant looks closely at me, then a look of understanding passes over his face. "Sorry I just...do you think she's coming back?" Last night, while my older sister and dad were fighting, certain words were passed between them, many of them not to be mentioned, but based on the conversation I overheard, I really don't think she will.

Grant must have read the answer on my face because he only nodded and went to our room. When he came back, he had his black Old Skool Vans. He raised his hand up in the air, and in one quick motion, swiped his hand down and squashed the roach.

"Grossss! Hurry! Pick it up and flush it!" Grant looked at me, making a face and shaking his head.

"No way! I already did the hard part." I gaped my mouth at him.

"Dude! All you did was kill it with your shoe! You want me to touch that THING?!" Grant looked at me with narrowed eyes.

"First of all, I had to sacrifice my shoe for that little bi- thing, and now you want me to touch it too!? No way, I'm out." With that, he walked through the door and back to our room.

"GRANT!"

"CAMMIE!"

I sighed in frustration and went to the kitchen and grabbed 5 pieces of paper. With that, I folded them onto one another to make a thick wad of paper, which was definitely still not enough space between me and the cockroach. I reached out and grabbed the squashed roach, then I walked to the toilet, dropped it in, and flushed. "Yuck." After that, I quickly changed and brushed my teeth and combed my hair. I then applied a light shade of mascara and lip gloss.

I headed into the kitchen and grabbed a bowl of oatmeal that my dad had left.

"There are some apples on the table if you want some." I turned around and smiled at my dad.

" 'kay thanks!" I walked to the living room/dining room and sat next to my brother on the small table. "Are Morgan and Matthew awake?" Grant shook his head 'no' and looked out the window. I nudged him with my elbow to get him to look at me. After a couple of nudges, he finally glanced in my direction.

"Are you good bro?" Grant looked at me and said something that didn't answer my question.

"We have to ride the bus today." I looked at him and raised both of my eyebrows.

"What's really wrong?" He looked out the window again and sighed.

"I have to see Courtney again. And to think that I could've avoided her my whole life. I was doing a pretty good job too." He glanced at my face again and saw my confused expression. "Courtney's my ex..." he whispered. I shook my head.

"No not that. I mean, why do you have to see her again? And why are we whispering?" Grant shoots me a look and shakes his head at me like I lost my mind and I don't know my ABC's.

"Dad can't know about her... Anyway, she rides the bus, so yeah..." I nod in understanding and take an apple slice from the bowl of fruit. When I start eating the apple and look at Grant, I find him already staring at me.

"What?" I ask with the chewed up apple in my mouth. Grant scrunches his nose at that in disgust.

"Aren't you scared to ride the bus again?" I scrunch my eyebrows in confusion.

"No, why would I be?" I reach my hand out to grab another slice. "The only thing I would be scared of would be being kidnapped by the bus driver. Hey, remember that one time that we were driving to school and then the bus driver took another route, and we were so scared cause it was a new driver, right? And then we were like, freaking out, but then it turned out that..." I trailed off when I remembered something.

"Oh," I whisper, remembering why I should be worried. Grant raised an eyebrow at me.

"Yeah, oh. What are you going to do about her?" I frowned and looked down at my bowl of oatmeal.

"Um, I mean it's not like she can do anything, right? I haven't done anything embarrassing, and she hasn't threatened me since that last day on the bus. I try not to run into her." I look up at Grant and see him staring at me again. "Plus isn't Zachary a good guy now? I'm pretty sure he'll make sure his twin sister won't do anything to me, right?" Grant looks a little skeptical, so I guess not...

"I don't know Cammie...I think he's just not a bad guy. Like, there's a difference between being good and being not bad. He's just not bad. Plus, in their relationship, Tina is definitely in charge. Just, try to stay away from him." I sigh and scrunch up my hair in my hands.

"I don't understand how best friends can turn against each other so quickly though. One day we're playing Barbies and the next day she's slapping my books out of my hands. I mean, it's not like it's out-of-control bullying, I would say it's just intense teasing, but I mean it kind of bothers me...? I don't know. I just find comfort in knowing that I grew up with her and that the person that is teasing me is a completely different person than the one that I knew. Plus, I try not to let her get to me. It pisses her off." I finish my little speech with a grin on my face and continue to eat.

"Whatever you say, little sister. Just know that I'm always going to be there, even though I don't talk to you." I shake my head in amusement and put my plate into the sink.

"Thanks again dad, I'll see you later." My dad kisses me on the cheek.

"Bye honey, have a great day!" I sigh and turn towards the door, Grant right on my heels.

"I'll try." Grant smirks at me, and we both head out the door. While walking to the bus stop, which is like five minutes away in front of a McDonalds, I check my phone and see that we have exactly six minutes to get to the bus stop.

"Grant hurry! The bus is going to be there soon!" We ran to the bus stop with two minutes to spare. I bend down my legs to catch my breath, and while I have my hands on my knees, I feel a presence next to me. I look up slowly and see that it's Tina next to me. I give her a fake smile and turn to look somewhere else, taking my phone out of my pocket to pretend to be busy.

"So, why did you come back? I thought I got rid of you." I grip my phone tightly, cutting off the blood circulation in my hands.

"My sister can't give us rides to school anymore." Tina pouts.

"Aw, did your family finally run out of money? What they can't get your brother a car, too?" I clench my fists, seething while I turn to face her. I'm pretty sure if I were a cartoon you would see smoke coming out of my ears.

"You know our situation, Tina." Tina raises her eyebrows and points to herself.

"Me? How would I know?" she asks me, acting all innocent. The audacity...

"You also happen to know that my sister raised money to get her own car. You should know. You helped her. And you helped her choose the car, too." Tina scoffs.

"The only reason I helped was so I could get free rides to school. Unfortunately, that didn't work out as planned..."

I laughed. "You don't say..."

Tina's head snaps in my direction so fast I swear I heard a crack. "What, she's not giving you rides anymore, so it obviously didn't work for you, either. And you're her sister." I roll my eyes and turn away from her. That last one stung.

"Whatever. I don't have the time to put up with your crap right now." I hear a noise and turn to see Grant smirking at what just happened and giving me a thumbs-up. I smile and turn away, just in time to see a punch heading directly at my face.

"What the heck!?" I turn and see Tina standing beside me, a fat smile on her face. I also notice that she is clutching a hand, almost like it hurts. I smirk, knowing that she has no idea how to throw a punch. It probably hurt her more than it hurt me. Then I remember that she HIT me.

"You better watch your back, Cammie. I don't want to have to warn you again." I raise an eyebrow in amusement.

"What are you, a third-grade bully? Why would I listen to you? If you haven't noticed, I'm sixteen years old. I know how to take care of myself." Tina was about to say something, but someone cut her off.

"You better listen to her, Tina." Tina looked at the person behind me and put her hands on her hips.

"Or what?" I turned around and saw Zachary looking at Tina with fury. When he looked at me, his eyes immediately showed concern. I smiled inside, knowing full well that Grant was watching. I didn't want him to think that I thought that Zachary was a good guy when he clearly pointed out this morning that Zachary was just a not bad guy.

"Or else I'll tell everyone at school about last year." Tina's eyes widened, and she looked at her brother in shock. I guess she didn't think that anyone would stand up to her, not even her brother. I mean, she has treated him pretty badly these past few years. She probably assumed that he got the message that she was in charge. But I guess he was just tired of it. I mean, if I were him, I would be too. I feel kinda bad for the guy...

"You wouldn't..." Tina sneered. Zachary just grinned.

"Oh, I would." Tina glanced at me, then at her brother.

"Why would you pick her side over mine? I'm your sister!" Zachary then rolled his eyes.

"Then act like it." Just then, the bus pulled up, and Zachary went with his friends to get inside. I looked back at Tina and saw her smiling like a Cheshire cat.

"Don't think this is over. Not everyone thinks you're worth protecting." And with that, she strutted, yes strutted, into the bus. That shallow prick...

I walked into the bus and sat where I usually sat on the bus pre-Danielle rides. I then pulled out my headphones and turned on my playlist. Putting my head on the window, I closed my eyes, starting to think that the bus wasn't as bad as I had remembered. Just when I was getting comfortable, something hit my shoulder. I opened my eyes and saw a note on the empty spot next to me. It read:

July 10, 2019

I frowned. July 10...July 10...What happened last year...? I shook my head. I can't remember. All I know is that this happened last year, a little after the day that my family and I went to visit our family in Nebraska. All I remember is that the day we came back from the trip, Tina started to act like the terrible person she is today. Something must have happened this day...I mean, didn't Zachary mention something about last year and exposing Tina...this must be the day it happened. The day our friendship turned to muck.

I looked over my shoulder to see Grant laughing with his friends and a very mad Courtney a few seats away. I smiled and shook my head lightly. I guess he got that situation covered...I then felt eyes burning the back of my head. I lightly turned my head and saw Zachary looking at me. I raised my eyebrows in question, and he gave me a small smile. I lifted up the note as if to ask if he was the one that threw it at me. He nodded, then turned back to talk to his friends. I felt my cheeks heat up. This was like the first time I have properly conversed with a boy that didn't have to do with school. Based on my friends' experiences, I tend to avoid any guys, especially since I really can't seem to form any accurate words when I talk to them. Sometimes the conversations go like this.

Boy: Hey, what did you get one the math test?

Me: Um, a ninety-five. You?

Boy: (smiles proudly) A ninety. Pretty good for me.

Me: That's good

Boy: smiles at me

Me: awkwardly smiles back

Boy's friend: Hey, dude, yesterday, COD...

Boy: Bro, you were fire!

Me: stands there awkwardly and slowly walks away

So yeah, I'm not the greatest conversationalist. And this...thing...that just happened...I may be overthinking or getting a little too excited, but this felt new. It felt like a... good different. And that might be what Zachary is. Not not bad. Maybe just different.

So yeah, I hope you liked it! I know it's kinda weird that Cammie calls Zach by his full name, but that'll change soon. Danielle is the name of Cammie's older sister. Sorry if I made Cammie's family too big lol. Don't forget to review! Josh will appear in the future (don't worry, this story is definitely going to be Zammie!), so stay tuned:D
