*Prologue: Childhood*

In London, there is a society of mice called Mousedom, a place for mice, rats, lizards, any smaller animals live. Not even the humans know about it. The small animals talk, dress, and travel like the humans.
In a rose garden, there is a young boy mouse wearing a deerstalker hat that is a little big for his head. He is playing with a toy car with a smile on his face. The mouse gave it a push and the little car went up to the young girl mouse's foot. The girl mouse looked down with a startled look and realize it's only a toy. She looked up to see the boy mouse giggling, covering his mouth. The girl picked up the toy car, then staring at the boy with a small smile. Out of nowhere, the girl stuck her tongue out and ran off with a toy. The boy blinked and chase after her.
He caught up with her, but tripped over a pebble. The girl turned back and notice the boy on the ground, holding his nose. Noticing he is hurt, the girl walked over to him with a car in her hands. Asking if he is alright, the boy looked up at the girl. He got a better look at her. She has hazel eyes, brown hair, and very light brown fur like the boy's.

"I'm Robyn Lotte." The girl spoke. "What is your name?"

"Basil." The boy responded. The girl gave back the car. "Thank you, Robyn. I thought you were going to steal it."

"No. I wanted you to chase me for it." Robyn said with a giggle.

"You made me trip." Basil said, getting on his feet. "I could've broke my nose." Robyn frowned a bit. She didn't mean for him to get hurt. She only wanted to play since she didn't have any playmates around the garden.

"I'm so sorry, Basil." The girl said, holding her hands together, feeling bad. "I just wanted to play." Basil stared at her. He gave her a small smile. He picked up the deerstalker hat and place it back on his head. Robyn noticed it and wondered why he would wear it. Basil told her that when he grows up, he wanted to be a detective. Solving crimes, looking for clues, dress in disguises. Robyn smiled at him, thinking it would be a great adventure for him to become a detective. Robyn never thought about what she will become when she grows up. All she does is play the violin and live with her father. Her mother passed away after she gave birth.
The two young mice hear a male voice calling. It was Robyn's father.

"Robyn! It's time to come home!" He called.

"Coming, father!" Robyn called. She turned to Basil and gave him a hug. "I must go. I would like to see you again."

"A beginning of a beautiful friendship." Basil said. "That's what my father always says to me." Robyn smiled and ran up to her father who watched with a kind smile. Basil watched them leave the garden. Robyn stopped by the big roses and turn back to Basil with a grin. Basil waved at her. Robyn waved back and left with her father.

Basil and Robyn have been friends for some time. Their fathers laugh contently as the children tease each other as they play. Basil's father thinks that his son will be in love with Robyn once they grow up, and Robyn's father thinks the same. When they mention it to their children, Basil and Robyn let out a disgust noise, sticking out their tongues. The fathers laughed as the children turn away from each other. Basil and Robyn will remain friends, and nothing more.
But good times have gone by when Robyn's father grew very ill after Robyn turned 10. He died and Robyn is alone. Yet, she is put in a care with Madame Ginny. Robyn must move to a Opera house since Madame Ginny lives there with her daughter. The girl mouse was sadden to move, but Basil promised that he will visit her from time to time.

Time has passed, and Robyn noticed that her friend didn't come and visit her. She expects a letter or anything, but nothing. Robyn isn't alone in the Opera house. She has Madame Ginny's daughter, Zoe Ginny, who is a brown mouse with green eyes. They have treating each other like sisters since Robyn first moved in. Zoe was one of the chorus girls of the opera shows. Robyn was convinced to be in the shows, but she refuses since she is very shy and think she isn't a good singer. Not a opera singer type, she has a soft voice.
At night, Robyn sings to herself on stage, imagining herself on stage if she weren't so shy. She sees herself in costume, singing softly to the audience that watch her with smiles. Robyn closes her eyes as she started to sing to herself.

"I close my eyes and I can see,
The world that's waiting up for me,
That I call my own.
Through the dark, through the door,
Through where no one's been before,
But it feels like home.
They can say, they can say it all sounds crazy.
They can say, they can say I've lost my mind.
I don't care, I don't care, so call me crazy.
We can live in a world that we design.
'Cause every night I lie in bed,
The brightest colors fill my head,
A million dreams are keeping me awake.

I think of what the world could be,
A vision of the one I see,
A million dreams is all it's gonna take.
A million dreams for the world we're gonna make."

She stopped as she opens her eyes to see the empty seats. She wanted to finish her song, but decided not to. She quickly left the stage to return to her dorm to rest for the night. The mouse lady quietly walk down the halls, passing by the props and costumes.
If only she could see her childhood friend again. Robyn has heard that Basil has become a detective like he dreamed of. Perhaps he is busy to come and visit. Robyn kept the newspaper with a picture of him with a pride grin on his face when he solved his first case. Robyn felt proud.
One of these days, they will meet again.
