Hi, I know time travel fics aren't exactly the most original fics when it comes to Star Wars but I just finished The Force Unleashes and thought it would be interesting sending Galen Marek AKA Starkiller back to the past.

I can't believe this has already gotten over 2000 views with so many following and/or favouriting! This is insane, I honestly didn't expect this to get so much support. Thank you all so much.

Hope you enjoy this story, feel free to give any tips and advice.

As the queens' ship left Naboo, the passengers watched on as the droid army marched into Theed leaving just enough destruction in their wake to prove that they were serious about this invasion but not too much to arouse suspicion should anyone see any images of Theed. Once the ship left the atmosphere of Naboo, Starkiller watched Queen Amidala go into one of the rooms, he knew the feeling of helplessness that she was experiencing now. It reminded him of when Vader had attacked Corellia and captured the Rebels. "The queen is very passionate about her people."

"Indeed, one of her age having such a desire to protect her people is incredible." Qui-Gon stated.

"One of her age?" Starkiller asked, his confusion at Qui-Gon's statement clear.

This made Qui-Gon raise an eyebrow, the Sith seemed to know a reasonable amount about the queen yet one of the most talked-about aspects of her was her age. "Queen Amidala is only fourteen."

"She doesn't look it." Starkiller replied in shock, the queen's dedication to her people seeming even more admirable.

A small smirk appeared on Qui-Gon's face as he looked at the Sith. The kind of look that says he knew something Starkiller didn't. "No… no she doesn't."

Before Starkiller could inquire more about the queen the entire ship shook, knocking many of the passengers to the floor, the three force wielders being the only exception. The trio quickly entered the cockpit area just as another shot rocked the ship. Starkiller looked out the port side window and saw that the Trade Federation fleet was slowly turning its attention to the small transport.

Qui-Gon looked back at the room the queen had entered moments ago. "The Trade Federation must suspect the queen is on board."

The pilot tried to evade more shots but a few more shots hit and knocked out the shield generator, four droids were quickly dispatched to make repairs, but their numbers were soon reduced to a solitary droid. "If we can't get those shields back up, we'll be a sitting duck." Captain Panaka stated.

As they watched a shot nearly hit the last droid Starkiller had had enough of this and decided it was time for him to intervene. The Sith Lord used the force to grab one of the nearby fighters and then threw it at the gun battery causing the small ship to explode on impact, destroying the guns and leaving a gaping hole in the starship.

"That was subtle." Obi muttered as he watched a few droids be sucked into the void of space.

"Subtlety is overrated padawan. I prefer a more direct method to solving a problem." Starkiller paused and then looked at Kenobi "Or would you rather us be blown to atoms by the Trade Federation?"

As much as he wanted to argue with that, Obi-Wan knew the Sith Lord had a point, something had to be done or they would have been destroyed by the Trade Federation. Despite knowing that Obi-Wan wasn't ready to admit that a Sith was right though and was grateful when the pilot interrupted them. "Powers back online, that little droid did it!"

With the power restored and the shields back up the ship had no problems getting past the Trade Federation flagship and escaping the blockade. Everyone in the cockpit let out a sigh of relief as they thought the hard part was over until the pilot checked the system for damages and saw a warning light on the hyperdrive. "It appears that the hyperdrive was damaged while we escaped. There not a chance that we'll make it to Coruscant. We need to find somewhere to land and either make repairs or replace it entirely."

Once again grateful for the distraction Obi-Wan sat down and started searching for any nearby planets and quickly found a suitable one close. "Master I may have found a suitable planet. It's called Tatooine."

Qui-Gon quickly moved to look at the screen, a look of pride in his padawan clearly on his face. "Well done Obi-Wan. What do we know of Tatooine?"

Starkiller grimaced at the thought of returning to Tatooine, he'd briefly visited the planet in his search for Kota and it was not a place he wished to return to. "Tatooine is a lawless cesspit, rife with slavery and occupied mostly by the scum of the galaxy. To make it worse, it is run by the Huts who turn a blind eye to illegal activities so long as it doesn't affect them."

"You cannot seriously be suggesting we take the Queen to a planet like that. It is far too dangerous." Captain Panaka declared.

A sigh escaped Starkiller as he shook his head at the captain. "It is because of those reasons we must land there."

"It is the one place in the galaxy where the Trade Federation won't think to look for us." Obi-Wan stated in agreement which left Starkiller a little shocked.

"I find myself agreeing with Starkiller and my padawan." Qui-Gon finally added.

There was a brief silence as the three force wielders waited for any objections, they could see that Captain Panaka desperately wanted to disagree with this plan but it clear by the resignation in his eyes that he knew they were right. "Very well. I shall inform the queen."

Once again silence took over as the captain left the cockpit, after a few moments Starkiller made his exit as well. There would be a little time to spare until they arrived at Tatooine, so he might as well use the time to meditate on everything he had discovered so far.

After a little bit of searching, he finally found a small room near the ship's engines, the only thing in the room with him was the small droid that appeared to be trying to make some repairs to the ship. Thankful for some peace and quiet to gather his thoughts, Starkiller sat down and closed his eyes. When he next opened them Starkiller found himself back in the void, once again face to face with Kota.

"Hello boy." Kota said with a small grin.

Starkiller sighed and glared at the surrounding void "I did not mean to return to this place. I just wished to meditate in peace."

"Maybe, but the force obviously deemed it necessary for you be brought back here. What's on your mind?"

"Kota, why did the Force choose to send me back? Why not you, or Shaak Ti or my mother and father? What makes me such a good choice for this mission?" Starkiller queried, a combination of confusion and annoyance at the situation fuelling the question.

Kota let out a light chuckle that didn't help Starkillers' mood. "You forgot to mention Kazdan Paratus as an option."

A distant look appeared in Starkillers eyes for a moment as he thought back to one of the Jedi he'd killed. "Personally, I think he'd do more harm than good, he was not exactly mentally stable when I fought him." Starkiller could tell by the look on Kota's face that the old Jedi wanted more of an explanation. "He'd built a replica of the Jedi Temple out of scrap and he'd also built scrap versions of each council member that he was talking to."

Kota sighed sadly, he hadn't known Kazdan Paratus well but had always respected him and what he had achieved as a Jedi. "I wonder how many other Jedi were driven mad by Order 66. Kazdan Paratus was always eccentric but I never would have imagined him losing his mind."

There was a brief pause, the silence deafening in the giant empty void they were stood in. "Kota. Why me?" Starkiller finally asked again.

"You were chosen because you represent what the force sees as balance." Kota knew that wouldn't be enough of an explanation for the boy. "You're not a Jedi and you're not a Sith. You fight for what's right using both the light and dark sides of the force. The Jedi you mentioned wouldn't have been able to do this. Also, can you imagine Master Shaak-Ti walking into the Jedi Temple and meeting her past self? Who knows what trouble that could cause?"

Just as Starkiller was about to reply he spotted a strange darkness in the distance, slowly consuming the light around them, his gaze snapped back to Kota as he saw the general looking at him sadly. "It's time for you to leave." Kota paused and placed a hand on the boys' shoulder. "Farewell Galen Marek. May the Force be with you."

The finality in Kota's voice concerned Starkiller who was suddenly launched back at the portal by a force push from Kota. Starkiller could only watch as he passed through the portal and saw the darkness engulf everything until it was just Kota surrounded by the darkness. The Sith Lord tried to reach out for him but the harder he tried the further away Kota seemed to move. Moments later Starkiller was thrown from his meditative state and he sat bolt right up in a cold sweat. "Kota!"

As he slowly realised, he was back in the ship Starkiller looked around the room, there was no darkness… no Kota… nothing. A sudden knock on the door had Starkiller quickly summoning his lightsaber, his mind still racing after what he'd seen in the void. "Who is it?"

"It's just me Lord Starkiller." The Sith Lord sighed as he heard the voice of the handmaiden, he placed his lightsaber back on his belt and opened the door. "We are entering the atmosphere of Tatooine soon and Queen Amidala has requested your presence."

Starkiller took a few moments to calm himself and gave a quick nod in response. "I will be right there… I just need a moment."

To Starkillers relief the handmaiden simply bowed in response and left, he knew that she must have at least heard him yell Kota's name, but she hadn't commented on that which he was grateful for. Starkiller was still unsure who this handmaiden really was, the way she carried herself and the way she clearly could read people meant she must have at least some greater significance. For now, though the handmaidens' true role didn't matter, he had a meeting with the queen and he still had to piece together what happened in the void and what it meant.

Once the ship had landed on Tatooine and he'd gathered himself Starkiller left his room and headed to the one Queen Amidala had stayed in, he entered and found that she was not alone. Captain Panaka, the two Jedi, and of course the handmaiden were all present as well. All eyes turned to him as they watched him enter the room and give a short, quick bow to the queen.

"Lord Starkiller, thank you for joining us. I have heard about the state of Tatooine from Captain Panaka and I wish for my handmaiden to accompany you and Master Jinn so she may see for herself what the planet is like."

"Very well." Everyone was shocked that Starkiller had so easily agreed to take the handmaiden with them. "There are Tusken Raiders in the wilds so being in one of Tatooine's settlements is just as dangerous as staying on the ship to be honest."

This seemed to alarm Captain Panaka who was now reconsidering having both Qui-Gon Jinn and Starkiller leave the ship. "What do we do if these Raiders attack?" Captain Panaka asked.

Starkiller thought back to his meeting with them, it was brief to say the least, he'd take out his lightsaber and they immediately fled. "Do not worry, the Tuskens scare easily, have the padawan activate his lightsaber and that should be enough to send them running. If not… well he appears to be a talented young Jedi, I'm sure he'll be able to deal with them if needs be."

Both Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan were quite shocked that Starkiller had praised the padawan all things considered. "Do not worry Captain, my padawan will keep the queen safe." Qui-Gon stated, the pride in his padawan once again apparent.

With that Qui-Gon, Starkiller and the handmaiden left the ship and started heading towards Mos Espa, the droid that had saved them quickly following afterwards and to Starkillers disdain Jar-Jar had decided to tag along too. He'd hoped he'd been intimidating enough to scare the Gungan off but apparently not. The Sith Lord sighed and focussed on the priority, finding a new hyperdrive and getting Queen Amidala to Coruscant.

And there is chapter 4, the original plan was for Sidious' reaction to Starkillers' sudden appearance to be in this chapter but I came up with an idea for the void which I thought would be interesting and give a little more explanation as to why Starkiller was chosen. I will say right now that The Void will not be used that much, the next chapter will explain a little more about it and why Starkiller was thrown so violently from it this time.

Thank you for reading, I hope you'll stick around for the next chapter.
