After dealing with Viser, the five of us went out for something to eat. Well, after we took Koneko back home to get cleaned up and changed. Koneko came down after ten minutes in some casual clothing, we all went to a McDonalds that wasn't far from the apartment complex. On the way, I noticed that Kiba's sword disappeared, but when I asked him about it, he smiled nonchalantly and shrugged. He must have used his super-speed… Wait a minute! That's why his P.E. scores are so good! That explains so much. Wait no… Kiba wouldn't cheat. Maybe he is just in better shape than me? Well, after tonight I think that is a given… Oh god... We killed someone tonight…

"Magnus, are you okay?"

I look up to see Kiba, the devil knight is staring at me in concern. "Yeah, just thinking about tonight."

The blonde nods sympathetically, a far off look in his eyes. "It's never easy dealing with death."

Right… We… Well, Rias finished the job, but technically we killed someone. I barely did anything except for protecting Rias at that one moment, but I was still there. I'm just as responsible. "I know that Viser was a monster, and she had to be stopped, but…"

"Take a deep breath, Magnus." My friend tells me with a frown. "I know that isn't much comfort, but try to come to terms with this. Viser was too far gone and couldn't be saved, and if left alone, she would have killed more people."

…. I sigh and nod. "I know that. Logically."

"It helps if you have something to focus on. A goal." Kiba offers helpfully.

"Is that what you do?" I ask the blonde knight.

Kiba's eyes become hard, full of anger and pain. His tone became so icy that I felt chills. "I do."

"Can you tell me what it is?" I ask, taken back by the look in his eyes. I have never seen Kiba like this… It's frightening. Kiba is usually so… I want to say happy and content, but now I know that it is a lie. A mask that he wears. This…This is his real face. What happened to make him like this?

"Maybe. Now come on, we should catch up with the others." Kiba's mask quickly reappears as he walks head.

Gulping, I slowly follow behind Kiba. "Right." We arrived at the McDonalds not long after my talk with Kiba. Everyone ordered and took a seat in a nearby booth, Rias and Akeno made small talk. Koneko pulled out a pair of headphones and started to listen to something on her phone, Kiba tried to talk with me, but I couldn't really focus on the conversation. After a while, the blonde gave up and began reading something on his cell. Kiba told me to focus on a goal, but what should it be? Get stronger? No, that is too broad, and that is more of a byproduct than a goal. Rubbing my face with a groan, I start to rack my brain for something, anything, but nothing came to mind.

"Magnus, here's your burger."

"Huh?" I look up to see a yellow wrapped package held in front of me. "Oh, thanks." Taking the burger from Kiba, I unwrap the packaging and start eating.

"Are you alright?" Rias asks with a raised eyebrow. "You seem off."

"Just… Lost in thought." I put the burger down with a frown.

Rias's eyes fill with comprehension. "I see."

"If you need to talk, let us know." Akeno pats my hand.

Internally I flinch at her touch… Damn it, not again. She is not Yuuma! "Thanks, Akeno." Why is my brain still doing this? Is it because of what I saw tonight? "… Does this kind of stuff, get any easier?" I ask Koneko, Akeno, and Rias. The three girls look at one another with small frowns before answering.

Koneko shrugs. "I guess."

"I don't know if I am qualified to answer." Akeno smiles apologetically. "Given my tastes."

Folding her hands together, my master just sighs. "I am afraid that my answer is similar to Akeno's, but not for the same reason. I was born into this Magnus; I am sorry if this doesn't help."

Right… Koneko aside, Akeno is into S&M. She gets off on causing pain. As for Rias… She is a pure-blood devil, dealing with strays has to be second nature. "I appreciate honest answers." Though I have to wonder how does Koneko deal with this? Does she have a goal like Kiba? Or is it something else? "I'll be fine, just need time to think about this." The Maverick clan can adjust to practically anything given enough time. My fellow devils didn't look convinced, but they let it go for the moment. We ate in silence after that, and once we finished our meal, the five of us went home for the night.

On the way back home, I felt off, but not because of what happened tonight, this feeling reminded me of being back home in Los Angeles. It felt like someone was following me. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I rather be safe than sorry. Using my peripherals, I swear I caught sight of someone…. Perhaps it's someone on their way home like me…. Still, it wouldn't hurt to pick up the pace a little bit. I start to walk faster for ten seconds before stopping suddenly, the sound of footsteps reached my ears, and just as quickly as they came, they ended. I turn around to confront my would be shadow. Not twenty feet away is a tall, middle-aged man dressed in a pale gray trench coat, what I think is a white dress shirt, white ascot, and a fedora. The detective looking wannabe is at least six feet tall, with short black hair jutting out from underneath his hat.

"Is there any reason why you're following me?" I don't like the looks of this guy, something about him is setting me off. Does he work for the police? Could he be a mugger?

The detective wannabe pushes the brim of his hat up with a smile. "Well, what do we have here? A devil on his own?"

I jump back as my eyes widen in shock. "What are you? Who are you?"

"Did you're master never tell you about my kind?" Massive black feathered wings spread from his back, as a glowing blue crystal spear materializes in his hands.

My Sacred Gear appears as my entire body shook. "F-Fallen angel…" Come on, Magnus, get it together…

"So, you do know. That will make this much easier-" The detective wannabe stops mid-sentence as his eyes land on my Sacred Gear. "-Ah… I see." The spear dissipates, as his wings vanish into his back. "Tell me, what is your name, young devil?"

I frown, never letting my guard down. "Why do you want to know?"

"I am trying to be polite. I am Dohnaseek." The fallen angel chuckles as he introduces himself.

"Magnus, Magnus Maverick." I reply my eyes fixed on him… The moment he makes a move, I'm going to bolt. I am no coward, but I know I can't fight him.

Dohnaseek readjusts his hat. "A pleasure to meet you, Magnus Maverick, now tell me… Are you a stray?"

"No. I'm a member of the Gremory Household, not a stray."

"I see." Dohnaseek closes his in thought before huffing in annoyance. "I was told there was a stray wandering around in this area, but I couldn't find any trace. I take it the Gremory family took care of the problem?" When I give him confirmation, the fallen angel snorts. "Well, coming out here was a waste of time. I know this may not mean much to you, but your house has my thanks. Stray devils are nothing but a nuisance." Turning around, the detective wannabe starts to walk away.

"Wait, that's it?" I ask in confusion…. He doesn't want to kill me? I thought that all fallen angels wanted to kill devils?

"That's it." Dohnaseek turns around with a small smirk. "Would you rather we fight? No offense, kid, but you'll die if we do."

I hold up my hands nervously. "Nope. I'm good."

A dry chuckle escapes his lips. "Then have a goodnight, and I hope for your sake that we don't meet again."

When the fallen angel was out of sight, I fell onto my butt with wide eyes. "Holy crap… I… I… I need to call Rias."

(Third Person POV, Rias:)

"And he left without harming you?" Rias' voice fills with concern for the bronze-haired teen.

"Yeah, it was bizarre… Not that I'm complaining."

"I'm just glad you're alright. Do you need us to come over?"

"I'm fine… I think. Just going to lock myself in my room and hope for the best." Magnus answers shakily. "I'll call you in the morning."

The heiress lets out a sigh. "Alright, have a goodnight, Magnus."

"You too, Rias."

Slamming her cellphone down as soon as the call ended, Rias starts pacing angrily. "How did that fallen angel get so close to him without our familiar's noticing?" Because of the unusual circumstance of his death and reincarnation, and Magnus's own ability to attract trouble. Rias kept the teen under surveillance, at least until he was strong enough to deal with specific issues. During the day, Magnus is safe as he can be, and after school, Rias and her peerage can keep an eye on him. Then at night, the familiars can watch him, and if anything happened, they would alert them. At least that was the plan. However, if the fallen angel was able to get past the magical creatures, something would need to be done. Twice now, fallen angels have appeared before him. Akeno's report mentioned a large number of exorcists, and with another fallen angel in town… It is quite concerning.

(First Person POV, Magnus:)

After my phone call with Rias, I went straight to my room, once I was there I turn off the lights and shut the door. I sink to the ground with a groan and grip my hair, I don't think I'm going to sleep tonight. Given everything that happened tonight, how could I? Viser, seeing Kiba's real face, the fallen angel… I let go of my hair and closed my eyes….

….

….

…..

Why is it so hot in here? Did I turn on the heat? I open my eyes and…. "Hells bells! Fire!" The entire room is on fire! In a panic, I jump up and grab the door handle. "Come, come on!" The door wouldn't budge no matter what I tried! I need to go out through the window, and there is no window… That's not right, where's my window!?

….

This is a dream, isn't it?

Taking a moment to scan the room carefully, I noticed some strange things. There is no smoke, and nothing is burning. I slowly pass my hand through the fire and felt… Nothing. "What in the world is happening-Ah!" My entire arm began to burn… No, not burn, but that was the only word I could use to describe what was happening. Falling to my knees in pain, I grip my wrist, my entire left arm trembles, causing endless agony. The flames rose higher and consumed the room, leaving nothing but a fiery void. I open my mouth to shout or scream, but nothing came out. A bright red light surrounds my arm, forming into a gauntlet. My… Sacred Gear… What is happening?

"I see. You are awakening once again."

The voice was like standing next to an amplifier at a heavy metal concert, only multiplied by a million. I felt the sound rather than heard it, and my bones felt like jelly. "What…? Who… ?" I look around for the speaker as a massive winged figure appears from within the fire. The flames obscured my vision, so I couldn't make out the figure's true form.

"It has been too long, partner."

"Partner? What are you talking about? Who… What are you?" My voice trembles in confusion and fear.

"Don't worry, you'll find out in time."

"Before? Wait, I've used my Sacred Gear before?" Have I? No that's not possible, I would remember that… Wouldn't I?

"I'll speak to you soon."

"Ah!" I sit up, looking around in a panic. Nothing is on fire? No super-amplifier voice, or winged figure? With a sigh of relief, I drop down with a groan. Excellent like I need another reason why I won't be able to sleep. What the hell is going on in my life?

The following morning I called Rias, letting her know I was alright and going for a run to clear my head. I wanted to tell her about the dream but to be honest… I was still pretty shaken, and I wanted to get my thoughts together before talking to anyone. Plus, falling asleep against my door really did a number on my muscles. So the run is necessary. Gathering what I needed for the day, I left my house and started to run. I know it sounds weird, but I love running. It's a great way to clear the mind and workout at the same time. As I ran, I didn't stick to a chosen path, I just let my body do what it wanted. Eventually, when I stopped, I found myself in one of the last places I wanted to be.

The park.

I look around with a frown. "Focus on something else, Magnus." I slap my face and shake my head. "Focus, on-Oof."

"Ahh!"

What in the world ran into me? I turn in the direction of the noise, and my entire face turned red. On the ground is a rather large suitcase, it's contents spread all over the ground. However, that isn't what made my face red. No, it is the owner of the bag. On the ground is an adorable girl. The girl has long blonde hair that goes all the way down to her back, with bangs over her face. Her bangs spilt over her forehead, and a single strand that slopes backward. Forest green eye stares stare up at me in confusion and worry. She looks to be about my age or at least a year younger. On the ground next to her is a white veil, with light blue accents. The girl is dressed in a dark teal nun outfit, with bright blue accents, a small silver cross hung around her neck. Around her waist is a brown satchel with a book in it, and to complete the outfit is a pair of brown boots, with black straps in an 'X' pattern.

"Are you okay?" I hold my hand out to the girl.

"Oh, yes, thank you so much." Taking my head, the girl slowly stands. Huh, she is much shorter than me. This girl is probably five-foot-one, two at the most.

I pick up her veil and hand it over. "Are you sure? That was a nasty fall."

As she places the piece of clothing over her head, she smiles brightly at me. "I am sure, but thank you for your concern."

… This girl's smile is too pure and innocent. Bending down, I start to pick up the content of her luggage. "Here, let me help you pick up your things."

"Oh no, you've troubled yourself enough. If I had been paying attention, I wouldn't have run into you." The nun protests weakly and bends down to help.

I ignore her protests with a chuckle and continue to work. "No one is perfect." Reaching out for an article of white clothing, I blink in surprise as the moment I grabbed it, the blonde screams.

"Ah!" The girl snatches the piece of clothing from my hands and hides it away with a flustered look. "I'm sorry." She says after a moment with a sheepish smile. "That was um…"

Oh… Now I understand. "No worries, I have two older sisters." Picking up the rest of the contents in silence, I did my best to keep the amused grin off my face. "So, are you headed somewhere?" I ask as I lift up her suitcase. Stupid question to ask Magnus! She has a suitcase for crying out loud!

"Yes, I am. I've been appointed to the church in this town. Unfortunately, I don't speak Japanese very well." The smaller girl screws up her face in frustration.

I know the town has a church. Irina's dad was the pastor there before they moved to the States. The strange thing is though, according to the city, no one has run it since. So the fact that the church has taken an interest in the town again is suspect. Wait, when did I get so suspicious? Is it because I'm a devil? "I understand, it's hard coming to a different country when you don't know the language. I'm sure you'll be fine. Though I am curious, the church has been abandoned for several years."

"Oh, um…" She looks extremely nervous and starts to look around.

I raise an eyebrow, but I decided to let the subject go for now. I'll talk to Rias about it later. "The church has decided to come back? Sounds cool."

"Yes, it is." The blonde breathes a sigh of relief.

"Listen, I have a pretty good idea where the church is. If you like I can you most of the way-"

The girl looks up at me with a grateful expression as she takes my hand. "Truly? Thank you so much!"

I chuckle with a small grin forming on my face. "No problem. Oh, by the way, I'm Magnus."

The nun smiles. "My name is Asia Argento."

"Well, Sister Asia, let's get you to church." I motion for Asia to follow me, and as we walked. "So, where did you come from originally Sister Asia?"

"Please just call me Asia, I'm not big on ceremony." The nun looks down shyly.

"Okay, Asia. Where are you from originally?" She's a little shy, but I guess that's part of her charm.

Asia bites her lip with a far off look. "A small village in the mountains of Italy, we were very isolated from the modern world. I am afraid there is much I don't know."

Wow, that's kind of shocking. "Don't worry, you'll learn rather quickly, I'm sure."

"I must say, Magnus, your Italian is amazing." Asia comments as she looks up at me. "In fact, how did you know to speak Italian when I first bumped into you?"

Crap… I don't want to lie, but I can't tell Asia the truth. This is one of those devil things. When people hear me speak, they hear the language that either they are most comfortable speaking. Or they are excepting to hear. "I have a pretty good ear when it comes to languages." Not a lie… Hopefully, my inner Jiminy Cricket won't come after me. Just change the subject, Magnus. "So, from what you're saying this is the first time-"

"Wahwa!"

The sound of crying interrupted our conversation; we followed the sound to its source, a small boy with a cut on his leg. Must have tripped while running, poor little guy. Walking over, I bend down in front of the kid. "Hey, are you-"

Asia materialized from out of nowhere and looks over the cut. "You'll be fine." Asia spoke in a soft tone as she places a hand over the scrapped knee. A silver ring with a blue/green gem appears on her middle finger before I could ask or say anything, a soft green glow pours from the ring. And right before my eyes, the light healed the cut to the point of non-existence. There wasn't even a scar as far as I could see. I don't believe it… She healed him.. Does she… Does she have a Sacred Gear? I look down at my left arm to see it shaking. Is my Sacred Gear responding to hers? Does she feel the same thing I do? "You were so brave." Asia pats the boy on the head with a kind expression. The kid may not have understood her, but just from the look on his face, he got the gest of it.

"Yoshi-kun!" Running toward us is a middle-aged woman, I'm going to out on a limb and say that is his mother. Poor kid, his mother doomed him to either be ridden by a fat Italian plumber. Or become a master of martial arts, with a pet rat, who would then train four turtles in the art of ninja-I really need to get a life.

"This nice lady healed my scrapped knee!" Yoshi jumps up excitedly.

The mother looks at her son, then me and Asia. Scowling, she grabs her son by the arm and pulls him away. "You shouldn't talk to such people." With a nasty look directed at Asia, the woman stomps away, dragging her son with her.

I get not wanting her kid talking to strangers, but that look she gave Asia was going too far. All she did was help him. "Wait for a second lady-" I growl angrily, I start to chase after the woman but stop as Asia touches my arm.

"Please don't Magnus; it's fine, really." Asia stares at me with a pleading look.

Swallowing my anger, I turn to the nun with an upset look. How can she be so forgiving? "You are far too nice for your own good, did you understand what she said?"

"No." Asia shakes her head with a sigh. "But, I know those eyes…" Clutching the silver cross around her neck, the blonde looks at her feet. "… I've seen them before."

I put a friendly hand on her shoulder. "I'm sorry-"

"Thank you!" Yoshi shouts happily as his mother drags him out of sight.

Asia looks up at me in confusion, so with a broad smile, I say. "He just thanked you. That's kids for you, they know what's up. In many ways, it makes them better than adults."

The nun perks up at hearing that. "Thanks, Magnus." Asia then playfully hits her head. "I'm sorry if I caused you any trouble."

"You didn't do anything wrong. If anything, it was that lady, all you did was help that kid."

Whatever playfulness in Asia vanished at the mention of the woman. "Don't worry about it Magnus, I'm used to such things."

… What in the world happened to this girl that made her so weary? Quickly Magnus, change the subject! "So… How did you heal that wound?" I knew the answer, or at least I think I did. I would rather hear it from her just to be sure.

"That? It's an amazing gift that was given to me by God." Asia perks up once more as she excitedly talked about her faith and God's gift.

'… then blame God. He is the one who cursed you with a Sacred Gear.' Yuuma's voice rang in my ear as Asia talked. "That sounds amazing." I motion for Asia to follow me. "Come on, you can tell me more on our way." Asia follows happily alongside me, telling me about some of the fantastic things she did with her Sacred Gear. What was genuinely astounding though, Asia wasn't bragging. She was just happy to help so many. She truly has the attitude of a saint, and that is extremely admirable.

After twenty minutes of walking, Asia, and I found ourselves in sight of the church. We would have gotten closer, but something about the place set me off. I know that devils can't go near holy sites, like churches or certain shrines, but this was different… It felt… Wrong, tainted…. It was nothing like Asia's cross, it set me off as well but not in the same way. Her cross felt… Pure and filled with… Light and goodness.

"Thank you so much for helping me, Magnus." Asia bows her head.

I wave off her thanks and set her suitcase down. "No problem, I'm sorry I can't take you further, but I need to head back to town." I try to say bye, but Asia quickly grabs my hand.

"Wait, please, will you at least come inside? I have yet to thank you properly, please won't you come inside for some tea?" Asia pleads with big puppy dog eyes.

I really don't think I should go in there. I have a feeling if I do, I'll die… Again. "I really shouldn't Asia, but how about this instead? How about tomorrow we meet in the park? I can show you around town, and help you learn the lay of the land. Sound good?" I probably shouldn't be meeting with her again either, so why am I offering to show her around?

Asia's eyes brighten at that. "Really? I would love to Magnus! Thank you so much! Oh, but how will I repay then?"

"Friends don't concern themselves about debts and favors." Holy crap, she's crying? Why is she crying!? "Asia if I upset you-"

Sniffling, the nun wipes her face. "No, you didn't… It's just I've never had a friend before."

…. There are no words to describe how much anger I felt in this one moment. What kind of life did she have that kept her from having friends or becoming used to being disliked by others? Who hurt this girl? I swallow my anger again as my trademark grin appears on my face. "I am proud to be your first friend. So, see you tomorrow at around… Noon?"

"Noon, it is, see you tomorrow, friend!" Asia nods happily as she picks up her suitcase and runs toward the church.

After I dropped Asia off at the church, I quickly made my way back to town. More specifically, back to the ORC club room. On the way, I called Rias and told her about what happened, minus a few details. Like me agreeing to meet with Asia tomorrow, for some reason, I have a feeling my master would not approve of that. It took me a while to get to the school, but when I arrived, I found an extremely angry Rias. Oh boy, I'm in trouble.

"You can't ever, ever, go near the church again, Magnus." Rias shook visibly as she scolds me.

I sigh and nod. "I know that Prez and I won't. Promise." I knew she was angry at me, but this? She isn't just mad… She looks afraid. I knew that if a devil went to a church, it could cause a significant incident. On both sides, and I could have been killed by an angel…. Though maybe there isn't an angel in there… I know Rias said that I didn't have to worry about Yuuma, but after running into Dohnaseek… Could the fallen angels be in there? It would explain the tainted feeling…

Taking a deep breath, Rias huffs out a sigh. She knew when I gave my word that I kept it. "I know, and I'm sorry for the lecture, but I want you to be careful. Especially around that, Sister, it is dangerous to form any kind of relationship with someone from the Church. The Church uses warriors known as exorcists, they have been blessed by God and can kill us. If they discovered you befriended a member, they would hunt you down, kill you, and then her."

Empty Night that is frightening… I can't let anyone know that Asia and I know one another. Hell, maybe it isn't a good idea to meet with her tomorrow… No. I gave my word, and I can't just break it like that. "I'll be careful." On many fronts.

The red-head stares at me with a thoughtful expression, as if she knew I was keeping something from her. "I know you will. For now, I want you to focus on-" The sound of a phone ringing interrupted our conversation.

"Uh… Hold on, I believe that is my phone." I reach into my pocket and answer. "Hello? Hey Susan… Hello Horii. Hm? You're meeting for a session? Sure, I can be there-Wait, really?" My eyes widen in surprise. "You don't have to do that-Seriously? Thanks… I owe you guys." Hanging up, I turn my attention back to my master. "Sorry about that, you were saying?"

"I was just going to say, you should focus on forming contracts. It'll help you in the long run." Rias explains with a small smile. "Now, what was that call about?"

A wry smile appears on my face. "Funny, you should ask. Horii and Susan want to form a contract with me."

"Really?" Rias raises an eyebrow in surprise. "Why do they want to do that?"

I shrug and put my phone away. "Susan felt bad for the accidental summons, and Horii wants to thank me for the part we played in getting them together. They talked it over and decided to form a permeant contract with me."

"That's great to hear Magnus. I'm happy to hear that." Rias smiles and sits on the couch next to me. "Now, how are you doing? After yesterday?"

Viser's death was at the back of mind for a while, but now that she brought it up… I lean my head with a thoughtful expression. "It had to be done, I know that. It's just dealing with death, especially killing is hard to wrap my head around."

"Understandable. If you want to talk more, let me know." The pure-blood devil places a soft hand on my shoulder.

"Appreciate it… Oh, that reminds me." I look up at a crimson-haired teen with a frown. "I had this dream-" I start to tell Rias about my dream last night, the fire, the booming voice, everything. When I finished, Rias had a contemplative look on her face. "-Well, what do you think?"

"I am not sure." Rias cups her chin and sits opposite me. "From what we know about your Sacred Gear already, it can boost your overall power. Support types aren't that uncommon, especially those that can raise power. However, that shadowy figure in your dream…" Rias trails off. "… I'm going to put a rush on that report for your Sacred Gear."
