A/N: This wouldnt leave me alone. It might not be good. Kinda drabble-y. But I needed a refresher, something. I haven't written in too long.

What are you working on?

They Said: An Izzy and Ward Tale.

They say his first word was Izzy

Edward Cullen was born almost 2 years before Isabella Swan. The Swans and Cullens had been close friends for most of their adult lives and naturally they wanted their children to be friends.

The first time Edward met Isabella, her dad said, "You can call her Bella, that's what we're going to call her."

Edward's nearly two year old self had heard his mother saying Isabella over and over and looked up at the Police Chief, "Her's my Izzy."

The nickname was the beginning but there was so much.

They say she wouldn't sleep without Edward.

The Swan and Cullen families lived 3 houses apart. They had dinner together a few nights a week and usually Renee Swan would watch Edward in the afternoons so Esme could work on her interior design business.

Isabella was a crier of a baby. She cried over everything. The adults told other people the only time Bella slept was when Edward laid beside her on the floor or if he held her on the couch.

The Swans were tired. So very tired especially after Edward had caught the chicken pox and couldn't be around Bella.

She eventually grew out of it but the parents always remember a broody Bella needing her Edward.

They said she called him Ward.

Bella was a late talker. She was so quiet which was ironic compared to how much she had cried as a baby. They said she'd cried herself out as a baby and became a really good toddler.

Edward and Bella went to the same pre-school together but were in different classes due to their ages. They played together on the playground and still saw each other for dinners.

They said the times Bella's voice could be truly heard was when she saw Edward. She couldn't say his name properly so she'd yell "Ward, Ward, Ward" over and and over again.

Eventually she could properly say his name but he'd always be Ward to her.

They said no one else could call her Izzy

One day on the local playground, when Bella was almost seven, three boys asked to play with her. Edward was running late because he had actual homework to do after school before he could come play.

He saw these boys surrounding Bella. Making fun of her for being quiet, and taunting her. Edward saw and ran as fast as he could.

"Come on Izzzzyyy, isn't that what Ed-Weirdo calls you." The tall boy taunted.

"Izzy, Izzy, Izzy, Icky Izzy!" the other boys laughed as the tall one continued.

"No one calls her Izzy but me," Edward yelled and punched the boy in his nose.

The boys ran off but they learned a lesson, never call Isabella Swan, Izzy ever again.

They said they were just friends

By the time they were teenagers, they were both awkward around each other and the opposite sex. They had sort of drifted from one another as they learned of their different choices in interests.

They were still Izzy and Ward but something changed. Edward got his drivers license. Bella's body began changing. It was weird all around for them.

When Mike Newton asked Bella to go to the drive in movie that Friday night, Edward made it clear, the only person taking Bella out would be him.

The funny thing was, no one could figure out if they were dating and they swore they were just friends. That is until someone (Alice) found them kissing under the bleachers before a football game.

They said no one could call him Ward

One night at a party, celebrating some sportsball event, Lauren Mallory thought she would try her hand at snagging Edward.

"Hey Ward, I heard Bella doesn't put out, want a taste of this?" She whispered while they danced, rubbing her body all over his.

Bella watched from the side, not saying a word. The scene kept get raunchier and Edward pushed her away and walked away.

"Ward! I just want to give you what you need!" She yelled over the music.

"No one calls him Ward but me," Bella said, returning the years late favor, punching Lauren in her fake nose.

People saw Edward icing Bella's hand and a few swore they saw them kiss.

They said first comes love

College was an experience. They had gone to the same school but went in different directions as far as majors went. She met some new friends. Rose made her bold, more outspoken.

"How long have you and Edward been together?" She asked as they sipped coffee one day.

"Together? Edward and I have been Izzy and Ward since we could talk." Bella avoided the question.

"No, I mean like together, together" Rose pressed. "You can tell you guys are really in love."

Their study group arrived and the conversation was forgotten, at least for the most part.

They said love hurts

Edward asked if someone could ride home from college with them for winter break and Bella didn't mind.

Until she met Tanya Denali.

She was bright, beautiful and brazen. Bella sat in the back set and watched Tanya put her hand on Edward's leg.

He'd move her hand over and over but Bella saw it and it broke her heart. Maybe Edward didn't love her the way everyone seemed to think they did.

That Christmas, Bella and Edward had a knock down drag out, throwing of snow and ended up kissing and declaring their love, (finally) for each other.

Tanya got a Uber and was never seen again.

They said second comes marriage

A few years after college, Edward was in medical school, Bella was a teacher working on her Master's degree.

One night, Edward set up the most romantic proposal, but in the end asked, "We'll always be Izzy and Ward but can we please be Izzy and Ward Cullen forever?"

Bella, her parents, Edward and his parent's all cried. He had included all of them and their friends.

The wedding was one that had been brewing for nearly three decades and it went off without a hitch.

They said they lived happily ever after.

And that is how we got here. Sitting in a hospital, holding a perfect baby boy.

"What's his name, Ward?"

"You're serious about naming him after me, Izzy?"

She just nodded.

"Then he's Teddy."

A few years later, Rose and her beau Emmettt, welcome a baby girl named Violet, Teddy nicknamed her "Vivvy" early on and the parents of the boy, gave each other a scheming smile.

A/N: That's that. It might be awful. Just an exercise to see if I could do it. I don't think it came out the way I wanted but that's how this works.

Hope you're all doing well and staying safe. P.S. Wear a Mask!
