Hi guys, it's Lola! There is a song that kind of goes along with this. It's called Girl In The War by Josh Ritter. I love that song and think it goes great with this chapter! I hate putting pressure on people, but I would love to know how I am doing. Leave me a review so I can know what you think! I appreciate the reads and time you have spent so far with me! -Lola

James Potter stared at the envelope sitting on his desk with a relieved sigh. It had been over two days and he hadn't heard from Lilly. Even though there was no name besides his on the envelope, he recognized Lilly's beautiful scrawl from anywhere. He picked up gingerly as he didn't want to ruin the writing as he opened it. He listened to the paper crinkle as he pulled out the piece of parchment. There were splatters of ink on it and it seemed to be written in a rush.

Dear Prongs,

Thank you for your letter, things are getting more dangerous and complicated now so I have to be careful. I can't put too much in the letter, but I want you to know that I'm still alright even though the risk has been highetend. The situation is delicate and it must be treated with gentle hands. I don't know how much I will be allowed to say or when I will be able to say it, but I remind you to trust in him. He wouldn't be asking this of me if he thought I couldn't do it.

I am happy to hear that the four of you are moving in alright! I am also impressed you came up with any rules at all! What are they, if I may ask? I'm sure Moony was the one to suggest such a civilized situation, knowing Padfoot he wouldn't want any rules at all. I appreciate you waiting to set most of them until I arrive, but I would rather arrive with the house being in one piece and have some sense of order. Knowing the four of you, you will probably have turned the house into an experimental prank shop by the time I get back!

Thank you for preparing my room for me. You didn't have to do that, and I will be spending A LOT of time in it. It was very thoughtful of you to take care of that for me, it will be nice to come and sleep in a warm bed close to you once again. I have to say, even though I find your arrogant nature particularly annoying, I do miss it. I knew you had a thoughtful bone inside your body Prongs, but you always have to and ruin it with a stupid comment (I am referring to the parenthsis in your former letter).

I wouldn't be too worried about Moony, you know he needs a break from you lot every once and awhile! Or, he was just trying to play it safe and not have you all travel all at once. The monthly event is coming so I'm sure that has something to do with it as well. Moony has always had a lot of secrets, you're right, but try not to let him bottle it up. Or, send Padfoot to talk to him. He has always had a way of getting Moony to open up, and since we're no longer at Hogwarts and you all are no longer stuck in a dormitory together (thank Merlin for us all) you will have to actually seek him out. You know how he gets, he will isolate himself and just read his books all day.

Wormtail did what at dinner?! Why did he throw a dungbomb at Padfoot? What did Padfoot do? Or better yet, what did you both do? Wormtail, although a complete fool for spending so much time with the likes of you, is not an outright aggressive person. It makes me worry about him in the dark times ahead. You need to be nicer to him! You and Padfoot, or else you're going to lose his loyalty which I know you don't want. Or, rather, who am I kidding? You will probably be stuck together for life, I just worry about all of you. You are right to say it would have made me mad as well, I don't enjoy smelling a dungbomb before I'm about to eat!

Hopefully I'll be home soon, I think I am getting closer to what it is I need to accomplish. It is all so confusing and frustrating, but I have a feeling it will really help us in the times ahead. Try not to worry too much, and I'll try to do the same. I hope to see you again very soon. Please do try to stay out of trouble. I know that is a difficult concept for you, but it's important. Try not to draw attention to yourself or cause the Muggles to suspect anything weird is going on. I'm sure you cannot explain away a fanged frisbee, and using obliviate is always a risk.

With Love,

Your Flower

James burst out laughing as he put the letter down. Only Lilly could be so bossy and still make him love her all the more! He was sure if Padfoot saw the letter he would have more than a few choice words to say, but that's why no one was privy to Lilly's letters except for James himself. If there were messages that he needed to relay to the others, he would but those letters were private.

James pulled out a new piece of parchment and smoothed out on the desk. He grabbed his quill and ink and put them to the side. She had written him a lengthy letter and it seemed like in a hurry. She told him not to worry, but how could he not? She was his future wife! They were going to have lots of babies together! Of course he was worried and he wouldn't stop worrying until she was back home.

Dear My Flower,

I wish I could be there to help with the situation, but you refused to let me come. I'm still bitter about that, by the way! We're a team: you, me, and the Marauders. We would have all come with you if we could, but you were persistent. I worry about you more and more each day, but I'm trying to do as you have asked me to. It is just not as easy as I would like it to be. It's hard to trust him on this when I know we're so much better together.

The house is still in one piece, I assure you, and the world didn't stop turning just because we came up with two rules! The rules are that pranks that are big and messy have to be done outside and if you make a mess you must clean it up. I think it's a good start! It gives you a lot of room to put those headgirl powers back into play! We actually (Padfoot and I) talked about maybe starting a prank shop at one time. It was when we were a lot younger and a war wasn't going on, but I have a feeling people could use a laugh right now. Don't worry though, we don't have the time or the plans to create one. That will be up to someone else in the future, I suppose.

You're going to love your room, and don't be that way! I'll just have to come to you then! Moony claims my room already smells like dirty quidditch socks, but I think that he's just irritable or jealous. I want to think it's the latter, but have a feeling it's the former. You know how he gets and his furry little problem seems to be eating at him even more lately. Padfoot has already tried several times, and he responds well to him. I caught them eating chocolate together...it was rather odd to see. They seem to REALLY enjoy one another's company if you get what I mean?

Don't worry about Wormy. He's fine! He's happy and eating Muggle pizza as I write this. We've been eating Muggle pizza for the past few days. Wormtail didn't really cook the Muggle frozen meal thing right and he got sick, so we've been sticking to using the phone. The Muggles even know our order! They recognize the number or something, I don't remember how it exactly works. It's convenient, they even gave us a free one tonight! Moony offered to cook us something else, but no one wants him in the kitchen. He was dreadful at potions...if anyone cooks it will have to be me or Padfoot since Wormtail is dreadful at everything.

Also, we're plenty nice to Wormtail! Yes, the dungbomb incident was sort of my fault, but it wasn't my fault he was in the way when we were ordering pizza! I had to hex him to get him to shut up so I could hear the Muggles on the phone. They don't like it when you shout at them by the way, one of them hung up the first time I called. Luckily, when we called back, Wormtail was hexed and I was able to order the pizza. So, you see, it was a necessary evil! If I didn't do things this way then how else would we get anything done?

We miss you and can't wait for you to come (well I can't wait), and hope that you will be here before long. You need to let us know ahead of time so we can plan something really special. You're coming back from an adventure! That's a big deal, and I can't say that none of us aren't jealous you got your assignment before us. Any day now at least one of us should receive something from him. But, I have a feeling he's waiting after the you-know-what to send them. Moony is restless enough as it is, he doesn't need more stress added onto him.

And, don't tell me not to worry about you! I will always worry about you. You are asking the impossible of me woman, I hope you know that! Anyway, we'll try not to grab the attention of the Muggles. Moony has been very, very vocal about the fact we're very loud and probably would receive a noise complaint (whatever that is) if we lived closer to the village. Luckily we don't, I think we would have to move otherwise, but can you see me living in a quiet house on a quiet street? I can't, what's the fun in that? Things only become interesting when something explodes every couple of hours or so! Stay safe!

Love,

Prongs

James grinned in satisfaction as he reached for an envelope. He could see Lilly in his mind now opening the letter and reading the wonderful things he wrote. He could also picture her rolling her eyes but secretly thinking he was funny. He knew, even after all of those years of hexing him, she thought he was funny. She just had to! It was all a part of the Potter charm and he had loads of it!

He sealed the envelope and wrote her last name on it. He knew if it was to be intercepted then no one would know who Evans was unless they went to Hogwarts with them. She was a Muggle-born and he knew at this point, she was in luck her name wasn't easily recognizable. James was not so lucky, he was a pureblood wizard of a very old family. If there was Potter on the envelope, they would know something was wrong.

He sighed softly, he enjoyed hearing from Lilly and it always took a weight off his chest when he heard she was safe, but what if he put her in more danger? He looked down at the table with a sigh, he couldn't stop writing to her. Not when he didn't know where she was or what she was dealing with. Those letters were confirmations that she was alive and still fighting, and without them it would be too much for the young wizard.

James ran a hand through his messy hair, the full moon was coming closer and closer. He had several things to do in the basement to finish the preparations. He definitely wasn't going to sleep at this rate. So, he grabbed his wand and began to head downstairs in the early moonlight. He could hear Moony, Padfoot, and Wormtail laughing from Padfoot's room. It caused a small smile on his face, this was what they were fighting for. The opportunity for more people to laugh and feel safe enough to enjoy themselves.
