"I'm not getting on that human contraption."

"But you promised-!"

"No, I promised I'd let you teach me how to ride it, not that I would."

"There like the same thing!"

"They're not."

"How will you know you can actually ride a bike then?"

That's right, they were arguing over him not wanting to get on the machine she was holding out to him.

"I know in theory and that's enough."

Her cheeks puffed before she huffed. "What happens if you don't in real life?"

He shrugged, much to her annoyance. "I'm a beastman."

"Oh yeah, because that's an excuse for everything, is it?"

He nodded once, turning away to walk back down the quiet park path. "Yes."

"You better not be walking away from me right now!"

He just waved a hand over his shoulder. "Please enlighten me to what I'm doing then?"

His steps were heavy and slow-paced but they did nothing to block out her complaints. He was content in walking back to the Co-op - bike free - when a dart-like thing shot into his shoulder.

Whipping his head back, he was gifted with a satisfied grin and he glanced towards the floor.

A pebble.

"You really need to stop taking your anger out on people, tanuki." He crouched down to pick up the small rock, eyeing it intensely.

Only she could make a harmless thing dangerous.

She set the bike against the bench beside her, movements jerky. "Then don't make me angry."

He straightened up with a sigh, dropping the small stone before wiping his hands. "I'm not putting my trust in a human-made thing."

"You actually have to put your trust in your balancing skills."

"While I'm on a human contraption." He finished.

She only gave him an indecisive hum, crossing her arms as she turned back to face him. "You're just trying to hide the fact you can't steady yourself if you're not on two paws."

He scoffed, though he made his way back to her. "If that helps you sleep at night."

He knew he'd reminded her of that night - the one where she'd stopped him from clawing his heart out - by the way her eyes gleamed.

He spoke before she could part her lips. "I'm fine."

There weren't any scars across his chest, his immortal lifeline healing him up to perfection. Excluding the nights he'd spent with Michiru, the sleep he'd been getting recently was the best he'd ever had.

However, he knew the vanilla scent (which still hung in his room) had a large role in that.

Because, hell, he'd tried to get rid of it at first.

The smell had been too pungent, a reminder, and he'd opened all his windows. His first attempt at trying to air his room and even, accidentally, breaking his AC at one point.

Then he'd prayed to the Silver Wolf, asking that despite the damage done, if it could help get rid of the fragrance.

Of course it didn't.

(He still doesn't know whether to laugh at himself for that or not.)

Whenever he caches a whiff of her he feels a need to just hug her, be near her, and he doesn't like it.

At all.
