Hello, guys welcome to my new story 'A Spell-binding affair'

Now before we get onto the story, there's just a couple things I want to clarify so please read ... As you can tell by the title of this story this is going to be about an affair, so if that's something that makes you uncomfortable, you can feel free to click away. I am very pro Bamon so if you don't ship them at all and are only going to leave negative comments then please just click away.

This story is rated 'Mature' which means it'll contain a lot of erotic sexual content and strong language. I put 18+ in the description, but if you are 16+ and think you can handle the sexual content then feel free to read ahead, but also please be aware. (please don't read if you are under 16, this story isn't for you lol).

Like I said in the description, this is set 4 years after the TVD finale, but I've decided to change some things up, one of the things being that Damon is still a vampire and Stefan didn't inject him with the cure. I thought it would add to my story if he was still a vampire and not human.

Well that's enough of me rambling lol let's get on with this story, and I hope you all enjoy x

They felt it the moment they first laid eyes on each other again, but fighting it was the most difficult part of it all.

Mystic Falls, Virginia

Mouths and skin and hair and the smell of him, the smell of the sheets, and the warmth of him washes over her like a sweet low tide. With wide opened eyes, Damon glanced beneath him to see Elena with her head arched back as he quickly filled her with hard heavy thrusts; the sound of her voice echoing through their marital bedroom. He watches her, before glancing over at the clock, then back down at her.

She bows her head and he can feel her warm breath on his cheek, as she starts to climax, eyes squeezed shut and her hands grasping at nothing. He keeps his pace hard and fast; far from gentle and angles his hips a little so that he hits her spot while he strokes her through it, and then she gushes around him, her cry of release hung in her through before it stutters through as quickly as she possibly could. A final frustrated groan escaped from her lips before she opened her eyes back up. As he arches himself away from inside her and flops down on the bed beside her, she stares up at the ceiling. Strong silence fills the air between them, before she climbs out of the bed and goes to head in the direction of the bathroom, leaving him trying to grasp his study breathing from their quick morning fuck.

That was all it was and that was all it had become with them. Not love making or anything even remotely close to that. There was no longer any passion whenever they slept together, it was as if they were both trying to quickly release before they even began and simply 'get it over with'.

After Elena had woken up from her coffin four years ago, Damon couldn't be more happier that he finally got to be with her forever. They had quickly gotten married a year after Stefan's death, but the thrill of what was their infamous 'epic passionate love' had quickly died. Don't get him wrong he still loved her in a way that he always benefited to, but that fiery spark that ignited the two of them together previously in their relationship was now gone. That longing for each other and the 'love that consumes you' declaration he once promised her all seemed like such a fantasy. It wasn't just their sex life that had lost its thrill, but it was their married life overall. Each day it felt like they were two completely different people who thought they knew each other but quickly came to find out they didn't. Whenever they fought it was explosive and extremely toxic, but neither one of them apologized, they just simply brush it off and move on till it happens again and again.

At times Damon wondered if his marriage with Elena would be different if Stefan was still alive. He didn't want to admit it at first, but he was the glue that always kept the two together, the one that always stopped them from never giving up on each other and now that he was gone, it left Damon ultimately lost and helpless, almost as if he was constantly trying to find a purpose, almost as if he didn't know who he longer was or where his life was heading. He was still a vampire, he still had immortality and forever ahead of him, and although Elena no longer didn't, he still felt like he was trapped with her forever.

Running his hands through his dark hair, he breathed out a heavy sigh, before he flicked his eyes down to his daylight ring as the sun began to peak through the curtains. There wasn't a day that went past where he didn't miss Stefan. At times he felt horrible due to the fact that he had sacrificed himself so him and Elena could have their happy ending and now their lives were far from happy. Maybe that was one of the reasons why they hadn't let it each other go yet; because of Stefan. Because they felt like they owed it to him to continue to live their lives together and give it their all after he had sacrificed his life with Caroline in order to give them their own life together. Him and Elena still loved each other no doubt, they had unforgettable history that would always stick with them for life, but loving each other and being in love, he had come to realize were two very different things.

Minutes later, Elena returned from the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her body. She stops and looks over at Damon, before walking over to her closet to pick up her clothes for work as Damon slumped back further in the bed, gazing up at the ceiling.

"I'll be home late again tonight, there's surgery I need to help out with at the hospital" she spoke up, turning to face the mirror.

Damon shifted his gaze back to her as he looked her up and down. "That's the third time this week" he scoffs, going to pick up his bottle of bourbon from the bedside table.

"I'm working my butt off to build a career, Damon" she sighed, slipping off her towel and going to tie her hair up. "I have a couple more tests I need to take before I become a Doctor. I mean I have to do something meaningful with my life, not everyone is a vampire and has eternal life like you".

"You're forgetting, Elena, that you used to be just like me... a blood-sucking fucking vampire" Damon sneered, as he tried to hide the irritation in his voice.

"Yeah and you had no interest in taking the cure with me" she scoffs, quickly turning around to face him.

"We've had this conversation, Elena, I didn't need to take the God damn cure to prove that I love you because you know that I do. I'm your husband. I wouldn't do well as a human, Elena, and speaking of the cure how the hell was I going to take it when it was only meant for one?! you know the one that Bonnie brought back from the prison world to give to me so I could give to you" he hisses.

"You're just making excuses, Damon" she sighs furrowing her eyebrows. "This isn't really about the cure, its about you being scared to ever be human again".

Using his vamp speed, Damon quickly whisked over to her from the bed. He stared down at her; locking eyes in an intense manner before speaking up. "Well I'm sorry to have to disappoint you, but we're not having this conversation again, Elena, I'm just not in the mood for it" he shoots her a blunt stare, whilst dropping his arms to the side.

"You're never in the mood for anything these days, its always like you don't care" she shrugged as he rolled his eyes away, trying not to get annoyed.

"I'm not in the mood to fight right now, Elena" he sighs.

She gazes up into his light blue eyes, which seemed to only be getting darker by the second, before crossing her arms and shifting her eyes away. "Whatever, I gotta go get ready for work, Damon" she looks up at him once more, before turning to head back inside the bathroom, leaving him in a pool of his own thoughts.

There was an emptiness in his heart he couldn't quite shake, a numbing feeling that he just couldn't seem to get rid of no matter how much he tried. Each day he woke up to this feeling, wondering if he was the cause of it all, I mean everything wrong with his life he always felt as if he was the problem, after all he had been made to feel like that so many times. What happiness he thought would last forever was now only a fragment of his imagination he desperately tried to cling onto even though he knew it was too late.

Two hours later across town, Bonnie slowly drove around the Mystic Falls neighborhood, glancing at all the people and all of the buildings that instantly brought back a great deal of memories to her.

It has been four years since she left this town she was born in and grew up in to travel around the world. After Enzo died and after stopping hell fire and bringing Elena back to life from the coffin, she pretty much packed her bags and left not staying to properly say goodbye to her friends, but could you really blame her?. Not only did she lose the man who brought her nothing but happiness, but she felt emotionally and mentally drained from everything and the only thing she truly wanted to do was get the hell outta the town that she gave her life to, but also broke her in many different ways.

As much as she felt this town, it always felt like it didn't love her back. Several years ago, this was where she had lost her grams, died multiple times, fought an original vampire, lost her mom to vamperism, lost her dad, became an anchor to the other side and also a huntress. Those terrifyingly haunting memories spewed out her brain with each passing second and although they all happened so long ago, it still left her with a lot of trauma and PTSD that she was still working through each and every day. After feeling so unimportant and being forced to deal with her pain and suffering herself or simply hide it for so long, it was nice to have put herself first for the past four years and not have to think about anybody but herself, and although she missed her friends and the people around her, she knew that this time alone was needed, she knew that even though they might have missed her to that she had to get away.

Although the past four years had been about her travelling the world and finding herself, she'd be lying if she said she didn't feel completely lonely. Enzo was the person who she thought she would've traveled the world with and spent the rest of her life with, but now that he had been dead for the past four years, it felt like there was a huge part of her life that was constantly missing. She hadn't been with a man or slept with anyone else since him, which left her deprived from a lot of things. She didn't know if she would ever find love again or give her all to somebody in the way that she gave to him, she didn't know if that would ever be possible for her as she wasn't a lucky person and every good thing that she's ever had in life had been taken away from her in a heartbeat. She didn't want to think too much about it or drain herself at the thought of if she would ever be happy again romantically, but it was a thought that she often couldn't seem to shake.

A short while later, she pulled up in the middle of the main town. Glancing over at the Mystic Grill, she slowly stepped out the car, before pushing her head back to look up at the clock tower. It felt so strange being back here again, almost like she was intruding in a way rather than feeling back home. As she closed the car door shut and was about to walk towards the grill, she heard someone call her name from behind.

"Bonnie?!"

Turning her head around, she quickly spotted Matt hurrying over to her, wearing his police uniform. The last time she saw or spoke to him was four years ago right before she left town.

"Matt, hey!" she smiled as he made his way over to her.

The two quickly stepped in for a hug, before pulling away to take in each other's presence. She had known Matt her whole life, and although they were friends, they were never as close to each other as she liked to presume, but whenever he was around her, he was always nice company, and being the only human in town during when the town was flooded with Supernatural beings years ago, gave her a calm state of mind and reminded her that things could be normal in a world full of complete chaos.

"Bonnie, I didn't know you were back... its been like what, four years?" he asked, smiling down at her. "When did you get back, how have you been?".

"I've been... I've been good" she responded briefly, nodding her head. "What about you? I see you're now a cop, you must be on patrol" she chuckled.

"Yeah, I am" he said, slowly loosening his arms from around her. "You look different, I heard from Caroline that you've gone to a lot of countries to practice magic and for other things".

It was true that Caroline was the only person she had kept in contact with. After Stefan was taken from her, it had taken her a while to grieve and mourn, and although she would never go back to her old self, she was slowly becoming better as each day passed. Whenever they spoke on the phone she would tell her about her twin daughters or the fights her and Alaric would have about them and Bonnie would tell her about which country she was visiting next. They didn't talk every day, but they did manage to catch up each week.

"Yeah, Caroline and I have kept in touch" she said, dropping her arms to the side.

"What about Elena and Damon? have you spoken to them?".

She quickly froze as she heard their names leave his mouth. Unlike Caroline she hadn't spoken to neither Elena or Damon, neither did she attend their wedding three years ago. Elena and her had been best friends for life, but it felt as if after she had brought her back to life from the coffin and left afterwards their friendship had fizzled out. Of course she blamed herself about it, and whenever she got the urge to call her to ask how she was doing, something stops her as she truly wouldn't know what to say.

And then there was Damon. Damon and her have always had a complicated up and down relationship. They first started of as enemies and then became acquaintances, before they grew to becoming best friends. She often thought about their time in the prison world years ago as it was only the two of them and they had nobody else to rely on. It was only four months, but it felt much longer as it had brought them closer together. After the prison world the were times where she wondered if he thought about their time there together like she did. After Elena had gone into the coffin, they spent each day with each other, relying on each other once again. That was the beautiful nature of their relationship; it wasn't just him saving her, it was also her saving him, more times at least. They were a team who stuck by each other for better or worse and grew by each other in a way they both never expected. For two people who couldn't stand each other at first, they manage to die together and go through things together that normal people go through in a lifetime. The last time she saw him was when he was mourning Stefan and although she didn't stay to comfort him as she knew he had Elena, she couldn't deny the fact that she missed him so much and she hoped that he had maybe missed her too.

"Um... I haven't really spoken to the both of them, but I'm hoping to get a chance too now that I'm in town for now" she spoke.

"For now? you're not staying?" he asked.

"Unfortunately no. I run an Occult magic shop with an older witch who was an old friend of my Grams in San Francisco, I've been there for a couple months now and its where I'm also learning about different types of ancient magic, so I'm only gonna be in town for a while, maybe a couple months or a little more" she stated briefly.

"I wish you could stay, but its so good to see you again, Bonnie" he uttered, sending her a warm smile.

"You too, Matt".

~A few more hours later~

After what seemed like forever wondering around town, Bonnie had found her way back at the place she ultimately wanted to avoid, but couldn't so in the end; Stefan's grave at the Mystic Falls cemetery.

'Stefan Salvatore... Brother-Husband-Friend... Born 1846... Now at peace'.

Reading through his grave stone brought back memories of the day where they had all said goodbye to him forever. It was also the day where Damon and Elena reunited and also the day she had left town.

She had contemplated coming here again due to how her relationship with Stefan was during the end of his life. He was the one who had killed Enzo, ripped his heart out in cold blood without a care in the world. It was also the day where she had stabbed him with the cure, which then turned him human. She knew the type of person that Stefan Salvatore was. He was compassionate, kind and caring, he always had been from the first day she met him. She knew he didn't mean to cause her as pain as he did, she knew he didn't mean to kill Enzo as his humanity was turned all the way off, and although she forgave him before he died, it was something she was still getting over, taking a lot longer than she thought it would.

During the past four years when she was travelling through different countries, she often wondered what would've happened if he hadn't sacrificed himself that day and was still alive. She wondered if he hadn't killed Enzo, she wondered a lot of things, but she couldn't spend the rest of her life being stuck on 'what if's' and 'what could've happened', she needed to let go for her sake.

Grasping her fingers against his grave stone, she slowly brushed her fingers against the part where it said 'Brother and husband'. She knew how much his death broke both Damon and Caroline. She's kept in touch with Caroline all these years and knew how she's dealt with her pain, but she never kept in touch with Damon and she couldn't help but wonder how he dealt with it. She knew he now had Elena so he was probably happy and that probably took his mind off it, she thought. As long as he had Elena; the girl of his dreams then there could surely be no problems or worry in his life.

Closing her eyes shut, she quickly chanted a spell, which caused the dirt on his grave stone to quickly whisk away. She then took a step back and crossed her arms, whilst she reminisced about the past.

From afar, Damon stepped out his car and closed it shut, before going to make his way through the woods. He wasn't sure if it was because he was finally alone, but there was an atmosphere that radiated around him that suddenly made him feel calm and at peace. With each step he took, it was almost as if all of his thoughts was starting to cloud away. He rarely ever came to visit Stefan due to the fact that it brought him so much pain whenever he did, but after this morning this was what he needed more than anything. As he slowly made his way through the woods, there was a feeling of tranquility he couldn't quite explain or comprehend. It was as if his brain had been shut off and was now in a totally different cloudless mind. He couldn't shake this feeling, whatever it was, till he laid his eyes on her again, which caused him to immediately stopped dead in his tracks.

He couldn't remember the exact moment he had last saw Bonnie Bennett as he was too busy being focused on Stefan's passing and it was only a week after that he realized that she was gone and had left town and it truly made him feel awful. Some best friend he was.

His hands unclenched by itself as he fixated his eyes on her from afar, watching her stare at Stefan's grave stone. There was a difference about her that complimented her in a natural way. Her hair was now a lighter shade of brown with light ombre tips at the bottom. She was dressed in a white t-shirt and jean shorts. Even wearing something so simple, he couldn't help but notice how beautiful she looked. He had always noticed. He first noticed years ago when they had first danced together at the sixties decade dance. That was the first time he ever stopped to really see her true beauty, but because he was so enthralled and in love with Elena, he didn't think too much of it and ultimately dismissed it from his mind.

He wasn't sure why he suddenly got goosebumps at the sight of her or why his heart was racing. Was it because of the fact that he hadn't seen her in so long? he thought, was it because of the fact that they never really said goodbye to each other before she left and he didn't notice she was gone until a week later? was it because that they never spoke on the phone these past four years and this was his first time seeing her again?... there were endless thoughts that ran through his mind as his eyes remained locked on her, waiting for her to notice.

Moments later, Bonnie felt an unwavering feeling around her and she quickly turned her head to the side to see Damon stood watching her from afar.

Her eyes slowly widened and her breath hitched as she stopped to take in his sudden presence. He sported his leather jacket that she had got used to seeing him in years ago. He held a slight smirk from the left side of his mouth which she admitted to herself many times that she found extremely attractive. Damon Salvatore wasn't without his signature smirk. Even though he was still a vampire and still had immortal life ahead of him, she couldn't help but notice his tired and weary eyes, almost as if he was slowly aging, and gracefully at that.

They stood frozen, not saying a word, but simply staring at each other. After a while, Damon slowly took a step closer in her direction, before speaking up.

"You're back... Bonnie" he slowly whispered her name, letting it slowly roll of his tongue.

"The one and only" she cackled lightly; reenacting their reunion from when she had returned from the prison world years ago.

A wide smile quickly plastered on his face as he slowly held open his arms. She smiled back and without wasting any time, she quickly ran outside, before going to jump into his arms. They shut their eyes and held each other tightly, whilst reeling in the feeling of being in each other's embrace and making sure not to let go to soon. That was going to be the most difficult part in all of this, simply letting go.
