NOTE: This has been done for over a month now, but I couldn't access FFN for a long time. Ugh. --;

"Kid Flash, huh," she started, softly, wryly, but keeping any tone from her voice.
He shuffled his long feet on the ground, smudging already worn sneakers through the thin layer of dust surrounding the park bench. "Yeah," he said, after a moment, and puffed slightly. "You shoulda seen me! I kicked his butt - welltheothershelped - and I think I'm getting taller, too."
Cissie smiled, leaning back on the bench as she watched him sheepishly scratch at his auburn mane. "Glad to see you're still so great at prioritizing the little things."
He grinned, the familiar impish ear-to-ear smile that was both cheeky and cherubic. "A whole inch!" he shouted, blurring to his feet and holding a hand flat in the air to illustrate. "I'm almost taller than Cassie!" He paused, wiggling his fingertips and scratching his feet through the dirt again, arm still lifted above his shaggy head.
For some reason beyond his comprehension, Cissie was snorting at his words, and he blinked at her, disconcerting golden eyes puzzled by her amused reaction. Bart raised a reddish brown eyebrow and flickered to her side, leaning over to peek at her as she covered her mouth with a hand. "What?" he asked. "What're you laughin' at?"
"Nothing," she waved her other hand, still keeping her lips securely hidden by curled fingers. "I'm not laughing at anything. Especially not you," she teased.
He gave her an appraising look, crossing his slender arms. "Look," he said, unsure, "I mean, I'm not all "kewl!" about choosin' my new costume or name, either, but it's not like it's /funny./" Bart scowled, somehow maintaining an earnest air as he frowned.
"No," she agreed, smiling faintly. "It's not. How's your knee, by the way?" Gently, she tapped the knee through the baggy fabric of his jeans, and he grinned, reflexively bending the leg several times in rapid succession.
"Better'n ever," he continued grinning, startling white teeth in his swarthy face. "And I'm gonna show Wally that /I'm/ better'n ever." The thought pleased him and he all but smirked at the image; and Cissie laughed, again, blue eyes shutting briefly as her head tilted.
"/What?/" he asked, again, grievously, before an approaching figure caught his short attention in the sky. "Hey, Cassie!" Bart waved happily, as Cissie, still smiling, glanced up and waved at the flying girl. "Guess what! I was talkin'toCissie and I told'er--"
"Hey, Ciss," Cassie greeted, flashing a brief, apologetic smile at Bart, who pouted at the interruption.
"Hey, Cass," Cissie winked, and Bart made an exasperated noise as the two girls promptly (and deliberately) began ignoring him.
"Grife," he muttered, tapping his feet in the dirt hurriedly. "Nobody gives me no respect."

Notes: This is sort of like therapy for myself. Yes. Review and make me feel happy. I'll write fic for you. Seriously.
Disclaimer: So. If I owned anything DCU, you can bet Bart's sweet honey eyes we wouldn't be seeing any Kid Flash's until Wally and Linda made their own li'l speedster.
