It was a cool night, but the windows were still open. He didn't know why. He would have gone to shut them, but that would have meant disturbing Duo, who seemed perfectly comfortable with his arms draped around him. It wasn't worth it.
They had spent a nice day together. Days like that were far too infrequent and Trowa always forgot to appreciate them until after they were over. By then, he would forget what they felt like. They had been able to wake up together in the morning, and had spent a marvelous hour showering together; they ate breakfast together wrapped in a blanket on the couch, their skin still dripping in wet heat. But Trowa was always careful to hide around Duo, even when his skin was bare.
"Trowa?" Duo murmured groggily, his eyes still closed, "Show me?"
Trowa didn't take a moment to consider. "No."

"You sure this is okay?" Duo looked at himself backwards in the closet mirror.
"Of course," Trowa replied automatically, appearing from the adjoining bathroom in a sweatshirt and jeans, "It's just the animal shelter."
Duo skeptically checked over his appearance one last time, deciding that if Trowa was okay with his sloppy look, then it didn't really matter what anyone else thought.
"You ready?" Trowa turned to escape the bedroom, but Duo grabbed his hand, his eyes focused on Trowa's left sleeve.
"Show me?"
"No."
+
"Hold on a sec," Duo said, fumbling with a pack of cigarettes. His hands were shaking again. Trowa didn't reply, just waited patiently. He knew that Duo's apologetic little smile would come, and then they'd just keep walking. Just like every other evening.
They usually didn't hang around the park this late, so they always missed out on the fading orange glow of the sunset. This evening, either they were late or the sunset was. Trowa never had realized Duo's affinity for that sort of natural beauty, but it was enough to stop Duo in his tracks, staring in awe with his eyes lit up like a child. Trowa was a little uncomfortable and felt he should say something. Fortunately, he didn't have to.
"Hey Tro?"
"Hm?"
"Show me?"
"No."

The alarm had a buzz that never should have been used to wake someone. Luckily, it hadn't woken him; he had already been awake for hours, watching the way Duo's eyelids twitched in his sleep. He had to go to work, and in two hours, Duo did, too. Their nice day was over before it really started, and he didn't want to disturb Duo's sleep with his movement. There was no time for a combined shower today, or breakfast on the couch. No time to waste with the stray cats at the shelter. They'd be lucky for an evening walk.
Trowa sighed quietly to himself, finally resolving to move from under his blanket of Duo. Duo, who apparently had already woken, was looking right into him.
"Show me?"
"...Why?"
