"Sorry." Sirius apologised, looking at the ground, wishing he'd never been born and kicking himself for his stupidity.

He'd just kissed Remus, what on Earth had possessed him to do so? Was he completely gone in the head?

"It's okay." Remus shrugged. "I didn't mind it. It was bound to happen sometime, wasn't it?"

Sirius looked at him in surprise.

"What?"

Remus returned his glance cursorily and took a drag of his cigarette.

"Us." He clarified. "You're the rebel in leather pants, the tortured soul, the handsome hero with a temper that can't be tamed. I'm the unwilling outcast, one with a deadly secret, living in the shadows and all that. We're the same, Sirius, you and I."

Sirius regarded him for a moment, unsure of where this was leading.

"So …" He prompted.

Remus glanced at him.

"Up to you." He said bluntly. "You've always been the one in charge."

"In … in that case." Sirius said nervously, not feeling anything like in charge. "I'd like to kiss you again, if you don't mind."

Remus flicked his cigarette away and watched the embers die.

"Okay." He said after a moment. "Go on then."
