Disclaimer: I own neither Cyborg 009, or The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. But I highly recommend them both. The part in italics is my favorite part of the book. I'm sure you can figure out why. ;)

It all really started when Joe picked up a book entitled, "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy." After that, he started cracking up whenever he entered the room, especially if Albert happened to be in it. Finally, after about a week's worth of this abuse, Jet gave in and asked what was so funny. Instead of answering, Joe merely handed him the book and sniggered.

It took another week's giggling for him to finally sit down and read it.

The story itself was okay. It was quite sarcastic and relatively funny, but there really was no reason for Joe to burst out laughing, as far as he could tell. Albert had joined him in reading about halfway through. They were currently sitting on the couch together, Albert sitting properly, and Jet using the German's shoulder as a backrest.

"All right," said Deep Thought. "The Answer to the Great Question…"

"Yes…!"

"Of Life, the Universe, and Everything…" said Deep Thought.

"Yes…!"

"Is…" said Deep Thought, and paused.

"Yes…!"

"Is…"

"Yes...!...?"

"Forty-two," said Deep Thought, with infinite majesty and calm.

Jet stared blankly at the book in his hands. Forty-two. The answer to life, the universe, and everything; forty-Two. What the hell…? What was so funny about forty-two?

And suddenly, it dawned on him. Joe had been reading fanfiction again. Forty-two (more often 42) was a fangirl term for…. Something that always made him wonder what the hell was wrong with teenaged girls and why they had a fixation with gayness.

"So…" Albert began, not looking up from his book. "Did you find out what was so funny?"

"Yeah," Jet replied, tossing the book onto the floor. "Joe's a retard."

Albert chuckled. "You mean he's been reading fanfiction again."

"Yeah, exactly."
