AN: Takes place shortly after Cruger becomes the shadow ranger.

Commander Doggie Cruger sat alone in the darkened command center; he had finally defeated General Banaag, the person who had helped destroy his home world Sirius, but he still had no answer to the fate of his beloved wife.

Aisynia; he whispered her name in his mind. Banaag had been proven innocent by judgment mode and now he was left with new questions, was she still alive? The chances were slim to none.

Kat had been right, he needed to face what had happened and being the Shadow Ranger was a step in that direction. Kat; he had known her for six years and shuddered at how he had almost lost her. He secretly held feelings for her, but had tried repressing them for a long time. He needed to move on with his life, Aisynia would want that.

Kat sighed when the computer told her Cruger's location; he was in the Command Center once again. She remembered the first time she had met him.

Her home world was being invaded by General Banaag and her husband an SPD officer had been killed. Some Krybots had grabbed her when Cruger had appeared, "Let her go!"

The robots had released her and went after him, in moments Cruger had destroyed them all. "Thank you." She whispered, before passing out in his arms.

She had joined him after that, becoming an SPD technician. Trying to help stay one step ahead of Grumm, by building the ranger morphers and other gadgets, the grief over her husband Delious faded as time passed.

Kat walked into the Command Center, "Doggie?"

He looked at her, "Kat."

"Do you want to be alone?"

He shook his head; "No that's the last thing I want. Thank you for everything."

She came closer, "Anything to stop Grumm. I know you miss her Anubis."

She only called him that in unguarded moments but right now he didn't mind. "When I met Aisynia it was like I found the missing part of myself, I was so complete with her. Then when she was taken my whole world collapsed."

"I felt that way when Delious died."

He put his hands on her shoulders, "I keep forgetting that, I'm not the only one who lost somebody special. How many people Grumm has taken away from their special someone." He whispered.

"Don't worry Anubis; someday we'll destroy that bastard. And anytime you want to talk about your wife you can."

He looked into her eyes, "The same goes for you as well Kat. But I want to go on with my life, if you'll help me."

Kat nodded; "I'll always be here for you Anubis."

He pulled her into his embrace, "I couldn't bear it if you were taken from me. I've had feelings for you for a long time."

She looked into his eyes and kissed his cheek, "I feel the same way."

Jack was unable to sleep and was walking by the Command Center when he saw Cruger and Kat in an embrace. "I'm so losing it."

"Losing what?" Z asked; as she to was walking down the hall. Then she saw the couple as well, "Wow I never would've thought."

"Weird isn't it?" Jack asked.

Z had a wistful look on her face; "No it's sweet, especially when that person has been with you forever."

Jack smiled and held out his hand, Z took it and quietly they walked down the hall leaving two hurting souls to comfort one another.
