Shuichi hesitantly turned to look at the blonde novelist that was sitting silently on the other end of the couch. The Japanese pink-haired rock star studied the beautiful profile of his lover, getting nervous when he failed to detect any expression on Yuki's face.
Tears burned violet eyes as Shuichi went back to watch the television screen. Hiro had called few minutes ago, something akin to panic lacing his words as he demanded Shindou to turn the television on the Local News channel.
Yuki had grumbled and cursed when a bundle of nerves, that was Shuichi, snatched the remote from his hand, changing the channel he was watching, only to fall silent when Shuichi stopped at the Local News.
The images were clearly taken from the air, the cameras in the channel's chopper recording the huge crowd of people that gathered in one of Tokyo's bigger parking lots, making a wide circle around the big fire they had started earlier. Incomprehensible shouting and screams reached the ears of the two lovers as their eyes stared on at the riot.
"Once again, ladies and gentlemen, here we are with this live, exclusive footage!" The unseen news reporter exclaimed excitedly as the chopper kept circling the big fire, "Earlier this year, the famous romance novelist, Eiri Yuki, had declared his relationship with the rock star, Shuichi Shindou, of bad luck. Tonight, protesters of the immoral partnership between the two men gather around to burn the books and CD's of both homosexual celebrities."
Shuichi flinched when Yuki's arm was placed around his shoulder, but the novelist either did not notice or care as tugged at the young man. Shuichi nervously moved closer, Yuki guiding him to sit on his lap, both arms of the blonde's immediately wrapping around the slender waist.
Hiding his face against his lover's neck, tears slowly fell from violet eyes. Shuichi quietly sobbed, his heart pained by the unfairness of the world. He pressed his face into the side of Yuki's neck and shakily whispered.
"I'm sorry, Yuki."
Taking the chin between two of his fingers, Eiri lifted Shuichi's head up to capture the soft lips in a gentle kiss; a silent declaration of love. As he gently cupped the cheeks of his lover's with both hands, Yuki wiped away Shuichi's tears with his thumbs and smiled softly.
"Don't be. I'm not."
