First Loves

Chapter 1

Ishida's Point Of View

-o-

I was running again, as fast as I could. Father scolded me again.

" I forbit you to see your grandfather! You will not become a quincy, Uryuu!"

" Yes I will!"

And I put on my shoes and pushed the front door open and ran again. There were plenty of times where I'd run away from my father, but he'd always find me. Today, I decided to run somewhere different. It was cold and raining and my glasses were getting foggy and covered in water. I jumped down below the sidewalk, and underneath a little shaded spot near the river.

At least I couldn't get anymore wet. I looked at my shoes, that were covered in mud and grass. I sighed and looked up at the cement covering that protected me and then looked out to the river and started to cry.

" Hey." I heard somebody say. I looked up, and there was a kid, with the brightest hair and a backpack on.

" Orange?" I said.

He blinked, " I like my hair." He looked up and shook the water out, then looked at me, " What are you doing out here, little kid?"

" I'm not little, I'm nine!" I shouted.

" Really? You're so skinny and pale."

" Shut up." I said, pulling my knees to my chest.

" Why are you out here?" He asked curiously.

" My father, he doesn't want me to be something I want to be. So I ran away." For some reason, I was opening up to this weird-haired kid. I had only known him for a few minutes. " What about you?"

" Looking for my mommy."

" Around the river?"

" Yeah. This is where she was gone too, so I'm here trying to find her." He smiled. " She'll be so happy."

" At least your parents like you." I sighed.

" What's your name?"

" Uryuu Ishida."

" I'm Ichigo Kurosaki."

" Ichigo? Isn't that a girl's name?"

" No, the characters are different." He glared, reaching his hand out to me. " Come on, I want you to help me find my mommy."

I took his hand and he helped me stand up. " Okay." I said quietly.

" You're really pretty." He smiled.

" Thank you..." I nodded. " You're really orange."

His eyebrows furried, " I guess that's a thank you."

" What does your mother look like?"

" Like me, she's really pretty and stuff." He smiled.

" Does she love you?"

Ichigo nodded proudly, " A lot."

" I'm jealous."

" Jealous?" Ichigo perked his eyebrows up.

" You have somebody who loves you." I said, my eyes tearing up.

" Uryuu, I can be your best friend. Then we can love each other, right?" He smiled, blushing around his cheeks.

" I don't think it's that simple." I perked an eyebrow.

" Well, now you're my friend, so we love each other. So you can't say that anymore."

My cheeks turned pink, not from the cold, but from this weird, orange-haired kid. He was so direct and told me exactly what I needed to hear.

" Thank you, Ichigo." I smiled, and held onto his hand tighter. " Let's find your mommy." And I suddenly felt better. We walked along the river and didn't find anything except some pretty shells from the riverbed. He put them into his jacket pocket.

" One for you too, so we can remember each other." Ichigo smiled. He quickly turned pink and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I turned red. " I want to see you again, okay?" and he ran home.

" Daddy, I think something's wrong with Ichigo." Yuzu said quietly as Ichigo walked through the door with his cheeks bright red.

- " Ichigo, what's wrong?" His father asked.

" I like, this really pretty girl." Ichigo smiled, putting his backpack near the door.

" Ooh, what's her name onii-chan?" Karin grinned as she sipped her juice.

" Uryuu. Uryuu Ishida." He smiled.

--

" Yeah, that was my first crush. She was really cute. She kinda reminds me of you, Ishida." He smiled, putting his arms around Ishida's waist.

" She sounds cute." Ishida smiled, holding the shell in his pocket. " Wonder where she is now."

Ichigo has horrible memory...
