Under the burning crimson sky, the murderous tripods continued their rampage of death and unadulterated carnage. Moments after their awakening, the motives of the massive alien machines had become very clear at the instant their bone-chilling mechanized howls pierced the psyche of those all over the world who could hear them: extermination. For the people of Osaka, just like everywhere else where the tripods raged, the realizations of their impending doom became clearer and clearer, as the military was proven to be powerless and while they ran for their lives while others around them were literally burned into dust.

But in every situation, there is at least a glimmer of hope. In this case, that glimmer was a blazing inferno.

The few survivors of the tattered city suddenly realized that the vile alien machines had turned their attention towards Osaka Bay, death rays raining down upon the water as if they belonged to a thunderstorm from hell, turning thousands of gallons of the Bay into scalding vapor. The aliens' fire intensified, illuminating the glowing sky even more. Apparently whatever they were shooting at was not expiring as they would have liked.

As mixed numbers of survivors looked on, two of the alien war machines exploded up through the waves, one of which was being pummeled by a brilliant blue energy beam.

Its seemingly invincible shields were buckling from the impact.

The resulting explosion temporarily blinded all who could see while the tripod hurtled into a nearby building, one of the few that had not yet been vaporized. The other war machines fell back from the water's edge as a mountain of flesh, bone, and nuclear flame came forward from the torrid depths in an explosion of water and steam.

Godzilla stretched and reared far back, letting loose an earth-shattering roar at the sky, one that made the mechanical wails of the alien tripods sound feeble, water cascading off his gargantuan frame. He shook himself dry and narrowed his blazing eyes at his new attackers.

More mechanical demons…

The leviathan scanned the horizon as the aura of death and ash filled his senses. Quickly turning his attention back to the aliens, Godzilla had just enough time to fire another nuclear blast at the dozens of incoming death rays. The beams met in brilliant explosive midair deadlock, creating an energy blast of blue and red that was visible for hundreds of miles.

Godzilla put his arms up and braced himself as the energy flames washed over him.

The aliens could only scatter away from the lethal detonation… and then look on as a massive silhouette approached them from within the flames, emerging with a vicious snarl, a deafening roar, and murderous, destructive intent.

If one were to listen closely, loud cheers could be heard from various parts of the burned-out tomb that was now Osaka. People were rarely glad to see Godzilla, but it was definitely one of those times.

The aliens had apparently underestimated Earth afterall.
