Summary/Description: Hinamori is talking too much. Hitsugaya shuts her up.

Warning/Spoilers: None. Takes place before all the drama with Gin and Aizen, so you're safe from spoilers. No warnings, except for some minor OOC. Hinamori isn't usually this loquacious, but for the sake of the fic…

A/N: It's weird, and it's stupid, and it's pointless. I'm sorry. And yes, I know that Toushirou's b'day has already passed.

Dedication: For Aki-omoi-san. :-)

Disclaimer: I once said I'd give my right arm to own Bleach. The damn appendage is still intact, unfortunately.

It was only to shut her up, really.

She had come to his office on her lunch break, perched herself a little primly on the edge of his table, and immediately begun talking; rambling on about Aizen-taichou and something he had done on their latest mission and you should have seen it, Hitsugaya-kun, it really was something; you captains baffle me sometimes and your birthday is coming up soon, Shirou-chan, don't think I've forgotten, what do you suppose you want…?

Chin cradled in palm, the snow-haired boy looked up at her, eyes half slit in apparent disinterest, small frown in place. Vivid green eyes flicked over his companion as her words went right over his head. Her hands made little gestures as she spoke; her eyes crinkled when she smiled, and her lips moved like rapid-fire. A thin white eyebrow arched. She seemed… nervous, he observed as she wrung her hands briefly.

The tenth squad captain blinked at his childhood friend, and wondered if she noticed that he wasn't very much listening to her. By the way her mouth never stopped moving, and her hands never stopped flitting, he'd guess not. The lazy jade eyes trained themselves on her lips as she spoke; pale pink and slightly curved, a small tongue darted out occasionally to moisten them.

It suddenly occurred to Hitsugaya that maybe he should kiss her.

So he did.

Hinamori's lips stilled immediately, registering the light contact of another mouth against them. Wide brown eyes blinked confusedly at the emerald ones that were all of a sudden the only things in her line of vision.

"Shut up, Momo," Hitsugaya deadpanned, the movement of his mouth against hers sending little shocks to Hinamori's spinal cord, and causing her to tense, and the little hairs on the back of her neck to stand at attention. A moment later, he pressed in further, and his lips moved again, in an entirely different way.

Minutes later, the taichou pulled away, and sat back down. He gave the brunette a final funny look before glancing towards the clock.

"Lunch is over," he commented, pulling out a stack of papers from his drawer.

"That it is," Hinamori agreed, hopping off the table. "See you later, Hitsugaya-kun."

The boy grunted something unintelligible, and raised his hand briefly in goodbye. He did not glance up from his paperwork, and thus did not see the tiny smirk that had taken up residence on the girl's slightly flushed lips.

That was easier than I thought, she thought, walking away.
