In this fic Yami Malik is referred to as Marik. Oh yeah, I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh.
Marik was a simple guy. Sure, he tried to take over the world but that was because he was insane... and bored. But then he saw the light. No, he didn't see heaven. He saw a boy named Yugi Mouto and he felt something that he couldn't explain. Besides, how could you fall in love with someone if you didn't even know what love was? All that Marik knew was that he was changing... and he didn't like it one bit.
Change the World But Not Me
One day you're gonna change the world but you're never gonna change me,
Because this is all I'll ever be,
So I'll look at you and all the wonderful things you do,
And bask in your after-glow,
Because everything you do is for real and not for show.
One day you may achieve world peace but you'll never be able to give me peace of mind,
Even if you get the world to think with reason I'll still leave mine behind,
So you can look at me and only me,
And see,
I am who I am and I won't be changed,
I like my flaws and imperfections and I don't want to be rearranged.
One day you may stop world hunger but I'll still be starving for affection,
As I try to grasp the secrets in my reflection,
I'll blow myself a kiss because only I can love myself the best,
And I know this as sure as my heart beats in my chest,
Yeah, I'm weird, I know,
I just don't know how far I'll go.
One day you'll find a cure for cancer but you'll never be able to cure the cancer in this heat,
That slowly eats it away piece by piece and recklessly rips it apart,
I'm not crazy; I just can't function in society,
I'm an anomaly, I just add to the variety,
Of the world,
Just like a diamond in the rough or an old oyster's shiny, new pearl.
Change the world for the better but leave me alone,
You can't drag me to salvation for there are some things I must atone,
And no, I'm not gonna tell you any,
Because these thoughts are worth more than a penny,
Change the world for the better but keep me out of your agenda,
Unless you wanna be the target of a vendetta.
Marik-not-Malik
Yami snickered at the blush on Yugi's face. "This is a good sign," he confidently said as he ruffled the younger teen's hair, "you got under his skin." Yugi slapped Yami's hand away and sighed in frustration. "I didn't want to get under his skin," Yugi whispered, "I wanted to get to know him..." "Why?" Yami and Yugi jumped in surprise. You would be startled too if Marik suddenly appeared in your living room. "Didn't we just change all the locks," Yami muttered to himself. "Why do you want to get to know me," Marik asked. Instead of an answer Marik got a warm, gentle embrace. "I would never change you," Yugi said while looking into Marik's eyes. Little did Yugi know that he already did. Marik didn't mind that much though as he slowly wrapped his arms around the smaller boy's waist. Maybe change was a good thing after all. Yami briefly smiled at the two then started searching for a locksmith in the yellow pages...
Fin
...What? You had no idea how much I need to get that out of my system. I think I portrayed Marik (aka Yami Malik) pretty well. Review and I shall adore thee!
