It seemed like an eternity, the two staring at each other. How much they had changed, and yet how little at the same time. He was older, yet seemed to be the same, as when they first met. And for a moment, a spark of sanity shown in her wild amber eyes as she slowly came to herself again. This was like before.

Was this a dream ... no .. no thisfeelsfar to real. She told herself, staring at Caim, lowering her head slightly so she was near eye level with him.

Caim was silent as he stared at the red form, probably the only one that would never be struck down by the red even when maddened and raining down hellfire and death onto anything and everything. He didn't care if this was a dream or not, for eighteen years, he had been alone. For eighteen years he had lived in madness it felt like. For eighteen damn years, he had been missing what made him complete.

Slowly, almost regaly, and acting like this was a dream that would fall apart if things moved too quickly, Angelus brought her muzzle down, closer to Caim, breathing in deeply and catching his scent.

This is no dream, she whispered to herself.

Caim seemed to realise that too, as he raised his hand up, laying it on the warm, and worn scales on the red dragon's snout. Then let his hand move up and down slowly, a few times. The Dragon's eyes closed in pleasure for a moment before slowly dimming, the red flowing from her neck, back and wings showing the reason as to her weakness. For a moment she managed to push against Caim's hand much like a cat before her strength gave out utterly as those amber eyes continued to dim, and her head fell down to the floor, and all Caim could do was watch, for even he didn't have the strength to catch Angelus if she fell.

As if released from the spell that had resurected her, the red form started to glow softly before erupting into flames, and Caim stayed where he was, not even flinching as the flames started to engulf him too. For what was this compared to now.

His life flickered past his eyes, but mostly it focused on his meeting with the dragon, with Angelus; Finding her half dead in the courtyard of his castle, offering her the choice between life or death, and making the pact with her.

Then it skipped ahead to when he had charged headlong towards the black dragon in his attempt to save Angelus, yet again. Only this time it was her saving him as that foul beast and slave of Manah and Inuart threw out an inferno at Caim, and his only salvation from death had come in the form of Angelus as she threw herself between the human and the flames, wrapping her wings up and around him like a shield, saving him this time.

More flickers and brief moments before it settled onto the time he lost her, and the only real time Caim had felt any emotion or grieving, he had not even cried when he had lost his sister Furiae when she killed herself.

Then the memories started to run together before they faded, not falling into nothingness, but letting him come back to the present.

Weakly, Caim could hear her voice, it sounded far away yet close. 'Is it over Caim?' She whispered. And Caim smiled a little, the first in a long while that wasn't filled with an evil smirk or with eyes glinting with something near insanity.

Whispering back to the dragon, he answered. "It's over. We're together now."

'Good,' she said to that.

And Caim felt no pain as the fire burned him alive and death took him. Only release, as he and the dragon were finally reunited.
