Her eyes flickered back and forth nervously. At least he was going to be okay.
How dare he make her worry so much!
She had thought for sure he was dead!
An abrupt groan caused her to snap back to reality. She quickly placed the cool cloth back onto his forehead, while gently brushing his hair aside.
What should I call this feeling?
She turned her gaze back to his almost still form, and watched his chest slowly rise and fall.
It can't be. Of all people to fall for…
She shook her head, as if to rid herself of her confusing thoughts. She had risen to her feet and was about to leave the hut when she felt a rough hand grasp her wrist.
"Hey…"
She whirled around. He was finally awake again.
"Fuu…"
The spot where he was holding her began to burn.
She jerked her hand away, feeling the redness creeping back into her cheeks.
"Yeah?"
"I…"
He paused, coughed, and looked as if he were at a loss for words.
"I…"
Her heart began to pound wildly. She had seen this before. Was he going to confess that he felt the same way about her?
She quickly leaned over him.
"I…I…"
Her eyes widened. It was coming any second now, she just knew it!
"I…I'm so…hungry…"
With that he fell back asleep, snoring instantly. Had he still been awake, he might've noticed the almost-comical look of frustration and despair cross her face.
"Fine. I'll go get some food."
Slamming the door behind her so hard the hut nearly collapsed, she departed down the dirt road, and with every step the nerve in her temple throbbed harder.
Men.
