Christine
Once she had noticed how quiet the silence was between them. No hemming-and-hawwing about some work related thing or the crackle of tension that always filled the room when they were left alone together. She placed the file down on her boss' desk, and he smiled at her, not bothering or perhaps not daring to disrupt this pleasant calm. The other man looked up to acknowledge her presence, but also said nothing more. She wondered if maybe things would change when she left; her presence always was a complicated one to deal with for Spock, and he suddenly seemed to find his report fascinating. She turned and left. After a moment she looked over her shoulder at the two of them. Then she noticed that McCoy's hand had fallen over Spock's and that Spock didn't even flinch, it was all Christine could do not to cry.
NyotaOnce she had noticed how passionate the argument had gotten. Oh, it was over the same old logic-vs.-emotion thing, but something had changed. The words were all wrong and the words that didn't change had gone and meant new things. How it was possible for anyone else not to notice, she didn't know. Business carried on like usual for a few minutes, but then even the people who were used to the arguments had to turn and watch. She tried her best to keep busy but it was hard. Then she noticed that McCoy was smiling, and Spock looked amused in his own way too, and it was all Nyota could do not to smile.
JaniceOnce she had noticed that McCoy was waiting outside Spock's quarters. At first she didn't think it mattered, but then she got curious. The two of them hadn't ever seemed that close to her, but what did she know? McCoy seemed to hesitate before ringing the bell and after he did he looked ready to bolt. But he stayed, and after a moment, she could hear Spock's acknowledgement and the door slid open. McCoy licked his lips and sighed. He started to say something, but was silenced by a hand gesture. Spock walked over to McCoy and invited him in, equally silently. The door didn't shut immediately. Then she noticed that Spock was leaning in to kiss McCoy, and it was all Janice could do not to run over and hold the door open to watch.
