Lucas stood on the edge of the rooftop, looking out at the glowing stars. Mark was still dancing around, and Joe and Jane were sitting and talking and laughing. The rest of them had left a while ago, except Gina. Lucas thought of Gina blithely. For a long time, Lucas had an ardent feeling for Gina. He secretly wanted to hold Gina, and love her forever. But he knew it could never happen. Yet, when they had danced that night, he felt a kind of closeness to her. And she had felt it too. Gina was always seen as the one with no sharing of love or anything close to it, only lust. But the only real love inside of herwas the love she wanted to give to Lucas. It always agitated her how no one loved Lucas, or wanted to get to know him, she longed to know him, care for him. She noticed his incurably darkened hair from the other side of the roof and went over to him. She figured, if A.J. can tell Corey he loves her why can't I tell Lucas?

"Boy was this day boring as shit or what, Lucas?" She sat down next to him pushing her leather purse off of her shoulder and putting it on her lap. Lucas put a hand to his chest and smiled.

"Why, Gina, you scared me!" Gina laughed and plucked at Lucas' black turtleneck and cocked her head.

"What's up with you and black, Lucas?" she asked. That made Lucas laugh and look at her.

"Just feeling a bit…. Mysterious….I guess…" he laughed and put his hands on his head and leaned back so that he was laying down. Perfect moment, thought Gina and she leaned over to kiss Lucas. He shot up and looked at Gina with surprise. Gina felt piqued, rejected by Lucas, his face said it all. She got up and walked over to the sign, which A.J. had fixed by now and started to cry, whispering, "You're an idiot Gina, a complete idiot!" Lucas' hand touched her shoulder warmly and she jumped.

"Gina…" Lucas said strongly. She wiped her eyes dry and turned around to look at him.

"How did you know I wanted that?" he asked. Gina shook her head and smiled, her feelings for Lucas enhancing as he said that. She looked up at him and said, "I guess it was just meant to be, right?" He laughed and grabbed her arms and smiled.

"Meant to be." He laughed and kissed her. Mark was standing behind them, giggling. Lucas turned around and smiled at Mark.

"Mark…. Gina and I seemed to be annexed to this chattel called Empire Records." Mark looked confused, then laughed and walked away. Gina and Lucas laughed and Joe and Jane came over.

"Well, well, well, Lucas… turned out good for you didn't it?" he asked fanatically, proud of Lucas. He nodded and replied, "Perfect..."
